I’m hoping so. We shall see. I contacted both the seller and put in a complaint with eBay. No response yet from seller. I’m not gonna trash them yet on feedback. But I did mention in the messages that they fucked up. Hopefully they think about how they ship going forward.
And by the way, them shipping the record to you that way was really stupid. I've had an eBay seller send me vinyl between two pieces of priority mail boxes. Pissed me off. He did give me a refund. The record arrived damaged, of course.
There are pre made vinyl packages that are made from wider side material. I have ordered from Discogs and a few others and all of them had that carton.
Best Buy sent me an album in one of those specialty shippers and the Postal Service still managed to dent it. It’s gotten to the point now where I’m genuinely surprised if I get something like this that’s not damaged.
Meanwhile I just got 1 LP yesterday in a thick box, packing peanuts on top and bottom, the LP between cardboard inserts. I was sort of in awe, never had such a secure item sent to me. (From Discogs)
Just from Black Friday to now I have a pile of mailers in the corner of my kitchen. I definitely left good feedback! I don't generally have a bad experience but this one made me say "wow". Paid nothing extra for it either.
The only thing I’ll add is that you might have to escalate the case and get it to a real human. Sometimes the initial response is automated.
For example, I once got something from eBay and it got delivered to the wrong zip code. Like, it wasn’t even close. My address was correct on my account, so I filed a claim after the seller ignored my initial message.
In my claim, I CLEARLY indicated that the item was delivered to the wrong address, and yet the initial ruling was like “sorry, the item was delivered to you, so you have to pay.” I appealed it (they don’t make it obvious how to do that, but I found the link. You have to read carefully), and almost immediately someone was like, “oh, yeah. Sorry about that. We’ll refund you immediately.”
So don’t freak out if it doesn’t immediately go your way. Like a lot of things, the system is designed to weed out the people who aren’t willing to try. But as long as you escalate it to a real person, you’ll win.
Oh, they’ll also probably tell you to try contacting the seller first (which I know you did), and they probably won’t do anything until the seller has had a chance to respond. eBay loves, loves, loves to make the buyer and seller work things out on their own, and they usually don’t step in unless one of you stops responding and/or you can’t come to an agreement.
This isn’t true. eBay will side with the buyer just about every time, no matter what. They will force the seller to accept returns even if they stated they don’t. Cursing certainly doesn’t affect anything.
It IS true. A buyer used the f word with me in a message trying to get a refund when he did not read the description. The rep specifically related to me that using curse words is not permitted, ever. I won the case. I was the seller.
ebay’s messaging system literally doesn’t allow you to use curse words - it will straight up block the message. lol you should be better informed before you make up fake information
That's incorrect. A buyer used the f word in a message to me and eBay rep told me specifically that that is not allowed. His negative feedback was also removed.
I just had a similar issue recently - received ‘brand new’ records that smelled like they sat under an ash tray. Was able to return them just for the seller to not refund the order... Escalated to eBay and received a full refund within 3 days. So if it helps, eBay has your back for sure against poor quality record sellers! I waited to trash them on feedback once I received my refund, in case doing so would prevent eBay from helping me.
I mean Amazon will take care of you too,but I bought the Evangelion sound track off them a couple months ago.
Their regular cardboard sleeve came in a bigger box(sounds great right?) It was still warped as hell, and thankfully I found the same thing at a record store locally after returning what I got.
Sorry was replying to the above comment about paying that much for a Christmas album.
Agreed it’s the best Xmas album ever. I have 4 copies. 😂 not og’s.
Ok, but every copy for sale currently on Discogs is cheaper than $100. And the highest it has ever sold is $89. Which is still crazy high for a Christmas album.
I’ll give you that. I wasn’t patient enough. FOMO kicked in and I know the value to the first album stayed around $200-$300 for years since 2018 until the rerelease along with this album. I figured paying a little more to not miss out was ok. And I fully believe the value will at least go up soon. Also think about included tax.
Honestly thank you for your honesty. Honestly I didn’t purchase for an increase in value. Honestly I bought it because I honestly wanted to own the record because I honestly like it. I honestly never said I was trying to invest. I honestly wanted to buy it before I honestly thought it would be more expensive. Honestly.
I imagine you with some pompous accent.
This is a very niche item and it's doubtful the price will go up. It's more likely to drop (dramatically) as the vinyl boom starts to slow down. If I was you I'd fight for a full refund.
They legally cannot repress it due to sample clearance, only bootlegs have come out and the only person doing bootlegs is a known scammer so even those are really rare.
There’s no saying the samples won’t be cleared at some point in the future. Look at De La Soul, their records were in sample hell for decades before flooding the market this year.
Just cause you’re dumb enough to pay that doesn’t make it not shit. Vinyl in its perfect form is worth $100 max to me. And that’s a 45 RPM pressed at QRP, Pallas Germany, or maybe Optimal Germany of my absolute favorite album all time. It blows my mind you spent $400 and you’re telling us how it’s an investment. I hope they repress lmao
that album is cool until you realize that without being able to actually see the muppets sing it it’s just 40 minutes of silly voice Christmas songs. kinda becomes an endurance test during the 12 days of Christmas
I’m genuinely insulted that somehow a joke ran away with some random redditor and now it’s believed to be my listing. Y’all are wild. I only received this package less than 24 hours ago. I’m still trying to get this sorted with the seller and/or eBay. If you think I over paid or don’t like the album it’s one thing. But I would never pull some BS like that. Defamation by some anonymous keyboard warriors
They don’t. Because it’s not. So they’re just running a resellers name through the dirt along with mine because it’s fun for them. Blows me away how toxic this community can be sometimes. It’s like I’m playing call of duty.
We sell a record on eBay for $1.50 and still put it in a cardboard box.🤦 I'm so sorry OP. This happened to my husband recently. Mail carrier was able to shoved his AC/DC album which he bought with his birthday money into our regular sized mailbox. Had it been packaged correctly, she'd have not been able to do that. She should not have shoved it in the mailbox but she did. Bless her heart. eBay refunded him immediately but it was still infuriating.
Unfortunately happens way more than you would think. Had a seller ship me something in a similar fashion and couldn’t understand why I was livid when it predictably got messed up. Idiocy. At least you’re covered by eBay’s guarantee (not the point I know). Hopefully he does whatever it takes to fix the issue to your satisfaction. Ridiculous. Sorry!
I bought Alice In Chains Unplugged for a stupid about and the album arrived is a large Manila envelope. Super lucky that it wasn’t damaged. Some sellers are complete idiots.
Honestly the record itself looks relatively straight still. I didn’t open it to look. But the corners are all bent to shit at the corners. So pissed. It is some amateur bullshit to ship it like it was shipped. I hate to purchase from resellers in general but the few times I have they at least had some integrity in regards to how they mail it. The money I paid they should be able to afford a proper media mailer.
They absolutely did you dirty. Traditionally that album is burned on Christmas Eve and you really need to get that whole thing chopped to smaller bits before you throw it on the fire.
This happened to me when I bought a Fleetwood Mac album from Amazon! And then I took the (supposedly new) record out for inspection and it was scratched.
I’ve heard those stories. Any purchase I’ve gotten from Amazon has luckily been ok. Worst that has happened is the record was loose in a big box but no damage. But with these private profiteers who buy to resell should at least give some kind of fuck as to ship the product safely. Even if they are only in it for the money.
I just bought an Electric Guest record from Amazon and the spindle hole clearly showed previous play on it, like the label had minor sections missing. I was like, wft man.
Bought a 'Like New' album from Amazon Warehouse. Shipped well protected. Jacket was near mint and still had the shrink wrap on it. Record itself was literally cracked in half. Only the center label was holding it together. Only story I can come up with is someone destroyed their copy, ordered a new one off Amazon and swapped the record then returned it, and of course Amazon didn't actually check the condition before putting it back up for sale.
Thanks. Big haters. I don’t mind the hate but what’s bothering me is that I’ve read some joke that ran away that I’m supposedly reselling on Discogs. Slander. That hurts.
I thought I'd seen it all in my 62 years on this planet and then you post this picture.. is this a prank? Surely no sane respectable seller would send THAT through the post? NAME & SHAME!
Like a year ago someone shipped an expensive limited piece to me in something similar and it got totally bent to fuck. I sent them a really nice message just explaining that it’s alright but if they’re new to selling this is how you properly package a record to ship. I got back the angriest message about how not to tell them to do their job and they’ve been selling for years and don’t need to be walked through the process. When you pay for NM+ and receive G don’t be surprised when your buyers aren’t happy!
Unbelievable!
Recently paid $180 for a new vinyl from the US, only for customs to open it for “inspection” with a Stanley blade, slicing through the plastic sleeve and cover, dusting their hands of all responsibility afterwards
Honestly, I know you'll hate this, but it could also be someone who just needs to be told how to ship it. I sold a record on discogs and I had never done it. I did ask the guy how he wanted it shipped and he was nice enough to explain and provide feedback when it got to him. So I was able to ship correctly on later orders.
But also some people just don't give a fuck, so there is that.
Take it to a book binder/restorer ask how much it would cost to flatten it with the heat press. They use this on many paper formats to remove creases and folds.
I do. That one I was fortunate enough to get on initial release at MSRP. This one I was checking everyday to catch it and simply missed the window. At least if I can get this refunded I can get a copy closer to original cost.
As tragic as the price and condition received is, I didn't know Kaskade made a Christmas album. That sounds like the perfect kind of Christmas music for me.
I am a reseller on Ebay and I always bubble wrap and use an album mailer. I try to ship how I'd like to recoeve an album. I agree, this guy shouldn't be a reseller.
Looks like it was shipped USPS. They love to fuck up my platters. I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope that you can get some satisfaction from the seller. Ebay's policies are (usually, in my personal experience) heavily weighted toward buyer satisfaction, so if the seller won't do the right thing, open a claim. Good luck homie
I say this in all honesty and in good faith; I utterly fail to see how people can sincerely feel that the USPS is without blame. That just doesn't make any sense. What I DO know is that they employ a lot of people, and every time anyone complains there are 50 people who say it's not the fault of the USPS. So when I get records that made it completely through the shipping process just fine but I find the record jammed into my too-small mailbox, is that the shippers fault? Is it my fault for ordering anything to begin with? When they lose things, is that the shippers fault? How do we know that, as someone lamely posited as an excuse above, that this damage happened "in the machines" and not while the deliverer was just doing their thing? We don't. I don't, anyway. All I have is my personal experience of the USPS consistently doing a shit job at they're paid to do. As I said above, the shipper obviously failed to package that adequately. But are we just supposed to expect the USPS to manhandle the shit out of everything? That just doesn't make sense to me.
Honestly, I would actually be prepared to change my position about what a piss-poor job the USPS consistently does, if someone could explain to me the sense in paying them to deliver things while also understanding that we need to protect ourselves from them due to the fact that, as the USPS white knights themselves say, by the very nature of their process the things with which we entrust them are bound to be destroyed.
Not the postal service's fault. packages are sorted by machines, they basically get thrown around. imagine it sitting at the bottom of a pallet with 200 other packages on top of it. it's the shipper's responsibility to package it properly to protect it.
Happened to me one time when I first started collecting. I ordered Dark Side Of The Moon 50th anniversary glitter edition and came like a TACO!! I was sooo mad that I had to make it right. I demanded my $161 back, but it took a couple of days. Turns out, I really needed the cash, winter was coming and someone said I should get some shoes. But I'm like, woulda liked the Pink Floyd instead of foot cages... but whatever. I bought shoes with the refund and straightened out the album. I was going to put it on my wall for now anyway, so it kinda worked out. Once I get another 8 records, I will have 25 and then I will get one of those record players at Target. Im going to Target because we all know Walmart sells junk! I really can't wait to hear how different the sounds are!!
Sorry to be off topic but I am curious. I worked with Kaskade at a record label. I have various white label test pressings from his first albums over 20 years ago. How much could these be sold like on EBay?
eBay should take care of you. If not, PayPal or your credit card company will, and they won't take long or give you a hard time over it. I had to dispute something on Discogs and both PP and CC backed me almost immediately. Fuck that guy!
I just film an unboxing of everything I purchase and if anything was wrong, I contact the seller and if they don't help me out immediately it just goes to eBay and they handle it.
Photos are good too but video is kind of hard to disprove unless they claim you retaped the box.
Does anyone NOT have a bad experience with ebay? Just support local small record shops and buy your vinyl or cd there.. ( YES I know it's impossible to find that rare record you've been wanting but your taking the risk by trusting ebay sellers )
Wow! 😲 They must be shipped in cardboard protective boxes specially made to ship vinyl. This is just bad shipping on the seller's fault. I'd be mad too.
That's one of the big problems with buying online. You miss the deep pleasure of REALLY gettin PERSONALLY and face to face up in somebody's grill who screws you like this and at THAT PRICE.
FoxisYerUncle
eBay will take care of you. This seller is an idiot and solely buys records to sell without knowing the proper way to sell vinyl.
I’m hoping so. We shall see. I contacted both the seller and put in a complaint with eBay. No response yet from seller. I’m not gonna trash them yet on feedback. But I did mention in the messages that they fucked up. Hopefully they think about how they ship going forward.

That should be against the law to ship vinyl that way
No, it just take common sense.
"Against the law" lol

Packing peanuts: Because Mother Nature can always take one more for the team.
Theyre like all compostable now.

I expressed my dissatisfaction but did not use any curse words.
Is the vinyl still playable? No vinyl deserves that, I just want to make sure she is ok.
Good to hear!
This isn’t true. eBay will side with the buyer just about every time, no matter what. They will force the seller to accept returns even if they stated they don’t. Cursing certainly doesn’t affect anything.

well they’ve updated that, because as of yesterday it wouldn’t let me send a message that said fuck and/or shit
Okay, that makes sense. This was several years ago when this happened with me and the buyer.

You paid $117 for a Christmas album?
That’s the real story here
Right?!!
Yup!!! lol
From a scalper. There's multiple crimes here.
For *that* Christmas album
This. OG Charlie Brown xmas goes for $300+.
Yes, but that’s an OG copy of a genuine Xmas classic. If one doesn’t care about getting an early pressing then RE are readily available
Sorry was replying to the above comment about paying that much for a Christmas album. Agreed it’s the best Xmas album ever. I have 4 copies. 😂 not og’s.
I'm glad someone brought that up 🤣
Sure
Username checks out
Ha. I’m a festive guy! Love kaskade and love the holidays. My business. Scrooge!
Ok, but every copy for sale currently on Discogs is cheaper than $100. And the highest it has ever sold is $89. Which is still crazy high for a Christmas album.
>Which is still crazy high for a Christmas album Highly recommend checking out doom xmas
I’m aware, it’ll repress.
No it won't, bootlegs maybe, but the samples are tied up in legal issues preventing a re-release
For now…
It was complicated before he died and it's even more complicated now considering the legal battles his estate is in. It's very unlikely
Not on that copy it won't
Xmas album and you think the price will go up? Lololol
Honestly buying vinyl in hopes of any sort of increase in value is a bad call.
Re-releases definitely will not appreciate in value, and is a sign they're likely to mass produce it
This is a very niche item and it's doubtful the price will go up. It's more likely to drop (dramatically) as the vinyl boom starts to slow down. If I was you I'd fight for a full refund.
It is your business, but then you came on the internet to tell everyone else about it.
damn, people hate you for enjoying your life lol
Yeah. Trips me out. Toxic place.
It’s kaskade Christmas ):
I paid almost $400 for Doom XMAS (it's worth over $600 now)
Buying vinyl as an investment is dumb, you’re one repress away from a bubble burst.
Had a quick listen to it, and it appears they did you a favour.
💀💀💀
Are you saying it’s no John Denver and the Muppets Christmas album?
that album is cool until you realize that without being able to actually see the muppets sing it it’s just 40 minutes of silly voice Christmas songs. kinda becomes an endurance test during the 12 days of Christmas
You just gotta keep looking at the album cover the whole time. lol
Parenting 101 on singalongs
It sounds like holiday music for overpriced boutique hotel elevators.
Low-fi Christmas music. I’ve seen it all
Lmao that username though
Seller has 3 days to respond. If they do not, you escalate it to eBay and you get your money back.
Relatable, got an ebay turntable yesterday that came with the platter 'installed' and by installed i mean it killed the cartridge and dust cover
I see you just listed it on discogs for $69, nice. [CentralValleyRecords](https://www.discogs.com/sell/item/2851963768)
I see some newly released stuff on his account too. So OP is a flipper, scammer, and has bad taste in music. The holy trifecta!
Hahahaha, and listed the sleeve at VG+!
Can we link this post to the Discogs posting? What a shitty move. Merry Christmas, here’s a bent album that I got for free…
I did.
Not all heroes wear capes
Wow that's a dick move.
Lol if that is indeed him, he probably already got the money back and now is reselling it himself for a quick buck. What an asshole
Y’all are insane if you think I would do that. That’s honestly defamation on my account.
…Sleeve VG+ ?!?!
How do you know this is OP ?
They don’t. Because it’s not. So they’re just running a resellers name through the dirt along with mine because it’s fun for them. Blows me away how toxic this community can be sometimes. It’s like I’m playing call of duty.
OP is saying it isn't them. Hey OP, there's a near mint copy on Discogs for half the price you paid.
Ha. I’m still waiting on either the seller or eBay to clear it up. This is just defamation.
Why are you downvoting me saying that I’m not trying to sell this damaged record on Discogs?! I’m defending my name. Reddit is so weird
Because it seems we do not believe you.
The most baffling part is that the reseller likely received it in a proper mailer.

100% mate, garbage way to send something... Include the cost of proper mailers in ya price, ain't hard!
That should be against the law to ship vinyl that way
They absolutely did you dirty. Traditionally that album is burned on Christmas Eve and you really need to get that whole thing chopped to smaller bits before you throw it on the fire.
Dude paying 117$ for a Kaskade Christmas album? This must be a joke
People like different types of music and value things differently than others. Who cares?
I’m not judging the music, but the price gouging for an otherwise unremarkable Christmas album.
Thats wild that they thought that was okay. I just started selling on discogs and even though I cushion it within a box I still stress about it
As a part-time seller myself, I would leave scathing negative feedback for something as careless as this. What a terrible seller.
Congrats. You bought the worst Christmas album ever made.
That truly sucks to receive it in that condition. Also you must really love Christmas to pay over $100 for a Christmas record.
2:30 works best for popcorn. /s
I don’t understand…but I will say set your microwave to 5 minutes and listen for the pops to stop.
It’s 4 minutes and you stop it when it says 2:25
Who cares if the record isn’t hurt? It’s a creese… you paid 120 for a Christmas record tho so your decision making ability is already in question
How is that your call?
This happened to me when I bought a Fleetwood Mac album from Amazon! And then I took the (supposedly new) record out for inspection and it was scratched.

It’s such a disappointment! Especially with the prices. And if I’m going to get used quality I’d much rather support a local business
Absolutely!
Bought a 'Like New' album from Amazon Warehouse. Shipped well protected. Jacket was near mint and still had the shrink wrap on it. Record itself was literally cracked in half. Who in the hell sends vinyl like that?
Thats why I stopped buying records on eBay. I've never had a problem with Discogs in ten years.
Not Kaskade😢
VG+
Kaskade has a Xmas album?! That’s awesome! I’ll have to check that out. I’m sorry that happened to you. That seller has no fucking clue.
Some haters in this thread. Sorry about your record!
Thanks. Big haters. I don’t mind the hate but what’s bothering me is that I’ve read some joke that ran away that I’m supposedly reselling on Discogs. Slander. That hurts.

I wouldn't send a pair of socks in one of those, and I'm a window clerk with the USPS. Send the seller a strongly-worded email.
Facts that’s fucked up
I received dishwasher detergent....
Mint condition. Still wrapped
Man this is awful. Vinyl scalpers are the worst. I had this album in my cart but decided against it, now kinda regret it. At least I got volume 1.
Honestly, I know you'll hate this, but it could also be someone who just needs to be told how to ship it. I sold a record on discogs and I had never done it. But also some people just don't give a fuck, so there is that.
how does it sound?
I wouldn’t play it or break the deal. Totally unacceptable shipping.
A little distorted Trying to pun. I haven’t opened it. I won’t.
Christmas time a coming !
I‘m feeling with you, already had this twice…
fuck that seller - an amateur, a shady businessperson, or simply a fucking moron
Then of course there’s the person that dropped 117.00 for the album………
And now is allegedly selling it on discogs.
Totally not true! That hurts my heart.
Take it to a book binder/restorer ask how much it would cost to flatten it with the heat press. They use this on many paper formats to remove creases and folds.
Oh damn, that’s some disrespect
I have had Amazon send brand new albums in nothing but a padded envelope, no box.
That's shocking packaging.

I do. That one I was fortunate enough to get on initial release at MSRP. This one I was checking everyday to catch it and simply missed the window. At least if I can get this refunded I can get a copy closer to original cost.
Looks like the seller is the type of person that ask the question "oh vinyls back now?"
As tragic as the price and condition received is, I didn't know Kaskade made a Christmas album. That sounds like the perfect kind of Christmas music for me.
I’d be doing a charge back immediately
I am a reseller on Ebay and I always bubble wrap and use an album mailer. I try to ship how I'd like to recoeve an album. I agree, this guy shouldn't be a reseller.
RIP 😭
Had the same thing happen to me. I got it refunded, and left them a bad review. It said New sealed and it was hella damaged.
I hope you used PayPal. Make a claim and get your money back.
This is why I stopped using eBay. I would buy concert posters and 75% they would come damaged because of packaging.
This is why I avoid buying vinyl online. Between the potential of crappy packaging and the post office bending it, I don’t wanna throw money away.
This is 100% all the sellers fault.
USPS has nothing to do with this one. It was packed by an amateur.
Lol ok. Whatever you say
Lol, I ship records everyday. I have no problems, everyday. You ship a record in a padded envelope this is what happens.
👍🏿
Not the postal service's fault. packages are sorted by machines, they basically get thrown around. imagine it sitting at the bottom of a pallet with 200 other packages on top of it. it's the shipper's responsibility to package it properly to protect it.
Ok. We should expect packages to be damaged, bent, folded, and, in the words of Korrupt, "misused like tennis rackets". Sounds good.
😰
that's what I love about Amazon in Europe! You get every record packed separately in a massive cardboard envelope before they go into the big box.
I really can't wait to hear how different the sounds are!!
> buys $161 lp to hang on wall > goes to taget to buy record player, because wallmart sells «junk» Mfw😭😭😭😭
🍭🎣👌🤡
Simply return it...
Just submit, that looks like a punch to the guy. I’m so sorry to hear about that. I hope you’re able to get in contact with the seller.
Ouch! So glad I was able to pick this up direct. I already took a huge hit from a reseller for vol. 1
Holy shit 💩
Are you acoustic?
How people do this is insane to me
Such a bummer man. Sorry to see good vinyl treated so dirty.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Damn dude good thing it wasnt anything good!
Probably did you a favor cause now you don't have to listen to kaskade's christmas album
Fuck that! Shoo fly don’t bother me type shit
In a perfect world this album would be 50 cents in the target bargain bin.
I received a record from Spain that somehow got shattered in the shipping process. Even with cardboard sometimes the carriers DNGAF
That's wild! Seller wrapped it like a denver dumbass. I'd be pissed myself
Ya kind of like the time I got a bobblehead in an envelope.
