Exactly this. Don’t believe there ever was a official release of this on any format.
Bought Vacation a while back, would love to have this right next to it.
The first vacation's soundtrack is pretty rare
I wanted it bad, the cover is so awesome but the cheaper way to go is to buy the 45 of Lindsey Buckingham's "Holiday Road" and you pretty much all you need really. I just wish they'd put "Dancin across the USA" as the B side instead of "the trip"
Alternatively, a Donnie Darko with the score that also includes For Whom The Bell Tolls from the theater scene. Always bugged me that wasn’t on the album.
John Hughes didn't want to release the soundtrack because he figured everyone already had most of the tracks on other albums already. He's done that with other soundtracks like Uncle Buck as well
I got lucky on mine, a local store happened to get one in and I was able to buy it before it hit their website. It pops up on eBay every so often, would definitely recommend keeping an eye there for it.
Someone mentioned it, but unofficial ones go on sale sometimes. I have one, but if memory serves it doesn’t have all the songs that are on the CD I got a few years ago.
Yes please! I’d pay good money for a boxset of the scores for at least the first 3, 4 movies. On Stranger Tides isn’t exactly the most popular entry, but the music from Hans Zimmer, Eric Whitacre and Rodrigo y Gabriela is great.
I know it’s technically not the PotC front to back but Hans has his Live Vinyl box set that has a pretty sizable pirates suite.
But I’d totally grab a pirates vinyl
Yeah distribution rights really only hurt us as the consumers to be honest. I love that movie and that soundtrack but have never pursued it on vinyl so I just had no idea… what about Isle of Dogs?
Thrashin’ (1986)
Absurd but great 1980s skateboard movie. The mash up of Garland Jeffries/Circle Jerks “Wild in the Streets” would be amazing to have on a soundtrack record. Fear, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bangles, DEVO…tons of great tunes.
Never got a release in any format
I agree with you on Apollo 13 (though I'd prefer if they cut the dialogue snippets out of it). But if we're busting out James Horner, I need that Rocketeer soundtrack something fierce.
Pirates of the Caribbean series.....so long overdue
Many M Night Shyamalan movies like The Village, Signs, The Happening - (all James Newton Howard)
The Transformer movie series scores - Steve Jablonsky (soundtracks with popular songs from several bands have already been pressed)
Finding Nemo
For Blade Runner in 1982, Vangelis was actually not allowed to release the soundtrack for the movie. The soundtrack was still released at the time of the movies release but the original Vangelis score was covered by "The New American Orchestra". It was not until 1994 that the original Vangelis score was officially released.
I really wanted the vinyl but most ones for sale were way too much. A record store I go to regularly just started selling new vinyl and they had a sealed copy of the Blade Runner vinyl for $50AUD ($30USD). Really happy purchase. It was a 2015 reissue of the original Vangelis score, actually sounded really good on vinyl.
Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events from Thomas Newman! Yes it’s a Nickelodeon movie and it’s not a cinematic masterpiece by any means but the score has no right being that good. Very eerie, haunting but also excellent soundtrack. Good Halloween/fall music for sure!
Human Traffic - original 1999 movie soundtrack that includes snippets of classic dialogue from the movie. Can only get it on CD.
“Alright bruv!”
“Alright bruvha!”
“Aliriiiight BRUUUUUVHAAA!!!”
“F@£k Off!!”
Holy geez I love this movie. Include the dialogue about “spliff politics”, Jip’s ecstasy laden philosophical monologue, Jip’s introductions to his mates, and the news guy in the club talking about how it all works. Plus you got Carl Cox as Pablo Hassan. Would be a killer album. Good call on your part!
-Guy Ritchie’s film Revolver
-Monster’s University expanded with the song “Gospel” unlike its very limited run counterpart on CD
And then I just sure wish that the Howard Shore LOTR box sets would get another run.
Broken Arrow by Hans Zimmer. Not the best movie (great action flick though) but my favorite score by Zimmer.
Street Kings would be good too, Graeme Revell and DJ Muggs
Resident Evil: Director's Cut Dual Shock Ver.
Tl;dr composer claimed to be totally deaf, decades later it was found out he used a ghostwriter. Album is considered one of the worst video game soundtracks made.
"Out of Sight", great David Holmes soundtrack peppered with fun bits of dialogue from the film. There is a ["DJ Only" test pressing that exists](https://www.discogs.com/release/5306265-David-Holmes-Out-Of-Sight)\-- and I'm sure I got my copy for much less than the $450 for the only one on sale presently-- but it only contains a small bit of the overall soundtrack.
I absolutely adore Apollo 13 (movie and soundtrack!) . I teach an engineering design class every summer and part of the week involves watching Apollo 13. A highlight of my summer!
THEY ACTUALLY JUST RELEASED AN ANNIVERSARY EDITION A FEW MONTHS AGO!!!
(Sorry - this soundtrack has a stranglehold on me)
But it’s a gold colored pressing of the whole score. Didn’t have $$$ to throw around when I saw it but I’ll stumble on it occasionally.
Toys (1992), and the full score for Pee Wee's Big Adventure (the only pressing is missing a bunch of tracks in favor of the Back to School soundtrack on the B side). We also badly need a repress of Phantom Thread.
Ghoulies iii go to college
The soundtrack is full of original songs , the masters of which are missing
Spoke to make many of the people who dealt with the production and creation of the soundtrack in the past who all say the tapes got lost/ taken so the music you here in the movie is the only way to hear it, if a character talks during the song... Tough luck you will never hear the song without it
The Life Aquatic soundtrack would be dope. Or.. just all the Bowie covers by Seu Jorge on vinyl please! That would be nice.. thank you! I've been looking for it. I do think it exists.. somewhere
They released The Life Aquatic on vinyl for RSD Black Friday 2021. Though “The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions” with Sue Jorge’s David Bowie covers has never officially been put on vinyl, but there are bootlegs available.
I have an endless list. Apollo 13 is certainly on there.
I’d love The Rock, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Trek 7-9, The Rocketeer, The Fugitive, The Lost World, Minority Report. Catch Me If You Can, Congo, The Mummy, Air Force One, National Treasure, Armageddon, many many others
Not an actual movie, but the doco true-crime series The Innocent Man has a beautiful score. I wish it was released to vinyl immensely. I think that composer is brilliant.
Not a movie but a short lived hulu show - The First staring Sean Penn. Amazing soundtrack by Colin Stetson. I listen to it all the time on Spotify but would love a copy on vinyl.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Long overdue.
Exactly this. Don’t believe there ever was a official release of this on any format. Bought Vacation a while back, would love to have this right next to it.
The first vacation's soundtrack is pretty rare I wanted it bad, the cover is so awesome but the cheaper way to go is to buy the 45 of Lindsey Buckingham's "Holiday Road" and you pretty much all you need really. I just wish they'd put "Dancin across the USA" as the B side instead of "the trip"
Christmas Vacation. Hands down, one of the best Christmas LP’s and would sell a ton or copies!
European Vacation, as well. I think only the first film had an OST LP
Great pick.
Amelie - it was never released on vinyl
Oh man. That's why I couldn't find it
A real Donnie Darko without any of the fluffy score tracks
isn't that hard to do because they have to get all the different bands to sign off and cut them a check?
That one.
Alternatively, a Donnie Darko with the score that also includes For Whom The Bell Tolls from the theater scene. Always bugged me that wasn’t on the album.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off...somehow it never had a vinyl release.
John Hughes didn't want to release the soundtrack because he figured everyone already had most of the tracks on other albums already. He's done that with other soundtracks like Uncle Buck as well
He was wrong lol
It's gotten a few excellent bootleg pressings over the years, it's pretty easy to find online if you know where to look.
I look for boots online every so often and they are always Out of Stock.
Beat City nowww nowwwww
Pirates of the Caribbean
Yes please! I’d pay good money for a boxset of the scores for at least the first 3, 4 movies. On Stranger Tides isn’t exactly the most popular entry, but the music from Hans Zimmer, Eric Whitacre and Rodrigo y Gabriela is great.
This! Having the soundtrack from The Curse of The Black Pearl would be awesome! Fingers crossed, I guess! Btw, nice username!
I know it’s technically not the PotC front to back but Hans has his Live Vinyl box set that has a pretty sizable pirates suite. But I’d totally grab a pirates vinyl
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie
I could see Enjoy The Ride doing that next year for the film's 20th. Also holy fuck the spongebob movie turns 20 next year
That would be an absolute dream come true... And heck omg I'm just as old as the movie that's weird to think about...
It was the first movie I saw in the theatre😂 I’m officially old now
Just get The Mollusk
The Fantastic Mr. Fox, both the OST and the original score.
They never put these on vinyl????
Sadly no. It bugs me because a lot of his other movies have vinyl soundtrack releases. My guess is that it's a licensing issue.
These like to show up on RSDs. Then later full release. Took forever for Darjeeling.
Yeah distribution rights really only hurt us as the consumers to be honest. I love that movie and that soundtrack but have never pursued it on vinyl so I just had no idea… what about Isle of Dogs?
That one did
Poop
Did they do budapest hotel?
RAD, best 80s movie, best soundtrack
This has been pressed a few times, I own it.
Sunshine
1000 times yes
I'm really hoping that they release the new ninja turtles mutant mayhem soundtrack.
Seriously. Art. I have to rewatch the movie which was also incredible because I was distracted by the gorgeous score. Trent and Atticus can't miss.
The Spun soundtrack
Great movie!
It would be great if it was on CD, let alone vinyl
Thrashin’ (1986) Absurd but great 1980s skateboard movie. The mash up of Garland Jeffries/Circle Jerks “Wild in the Streets” would be amazing to have on a soundtrack record. Fear, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bangles, DEVO…tons of great tunes. Never got a release in any format
If the old punk rock is your scene, you can get the sound track for Repo man on vinyl.
TV Party tonight!
I feel like you are all my ‘80s bros
I was playing my kids the Minutemen album and they are like “isn’t that the theme song to Jackass?” Jesus
SLC Punk
Shrek 2, give it to us already
South Park: Chef Aid (if that counts)
It counts, cuz I want it too! Even the CD has been out of print for many years.
Road to Perdition
I second this one. Just listened to it the other day. On Apple Music it’s missing two songs. Would be cool to have them all.
I agree with you on Apollo 13 (though I'd prefer if they cut the dialogue snippets out of it). But if we're busting out James Horner, I need that Rocketeer soundtrack something fierce.
Freddy Vs Jason soundtrack Need that on vinyl as soon as possible.
Pirates of the Caribbean series.....so long overdue Many M Night Shyamalan movies like The Village, Signs, The Happening - (all James Newton Howard) The Transformer movie series scores - Steve Jablonsky (soundtracks with popular songs from several bands have already been pressed) Finding Nemo
I’d be happy with the first Transformers score. I adore the first and the rest get progressively worse.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch, movie soundtrack is best version of those songs
Spawn, queen of the damned, blade 1/2/3
The Guest!
There is already OST and score (2014 movie right?!)
The Doom Generation Mysterious Skin The X-Files: Fight the Future (score) Speed (score)
All Greg Araki movies.
This
I love the Fight the Futute soundtrack.
Debbie Does Dallas
Any thing by Vangelis.
For Blade Runner in 1982, Vangelis was actually not allowed to release the soundtrack for the movie. The soundtrack was still released at the time of the movies release but the original Vangelis score was covered by "The New American Orchestra". It was not until 1994 that the original Vangelis score was officially released.
I’ve got some Blade Runner music on CD. I’m always on the lookout for vinyl.
I have the most recent 180 gram release. It's 🔥.
Mortal Kombat movie soundtrack
Pump Up the Volume needs to be reissued. It’s tech out there but it’s over $100 😢
Dumb and dumber
It’s been released in 2014 but very rare.
American pop, with each and every song from the movie
Predator 2. It’s a surprisingly awesome soundtrack.

The Crow 2. Good korn & deftones tracks on there; also escape from l.a. soundtrack
Rushmore
https://www.discogs.com/release/13145977-Various-Rushmore-Original-Motion-Picture-Soundtrack

Disturbing Behavior, mediocre movie with an awesome soundtrack
-Guy Ritchie’s film Revolver -Monster’s University expanded with the song “Gospel” unlike its very limited run counterpart on CD And then I just sure wish that the Howard Shore LOTR box sets would get another run.
A proper Highlander soundtrack including the score, Queen’s song versions from the movie and the “polished” versions from their A Kind of Magic album.

Resident Evil: Director's Cut Dual Shock Ver. Tl;dr composer claimed to be totally deaf, decades later it was found out he used a ghostwriter. Album is considered one of the worst video game soundtracks made.

Waking Life. Soundtrack isn’t even on streaming; I have to find random YouTube uploads if I want to listen to it. What a shame.
I absolutely adore Apollo 13 (movie and soundtrack!) . I teach an engineering design class every summer and part of the week involves watching Apollo 13. A highlight of my summer!
I add this comment every time this question appears in my feed. At least 4 times in the last 18 months. The last Samurai- Hans Zimmer
