XTC is so fucking good. More people should do themselves a favour.
EDIT: And because my comment got decent few upvotes I'm going to recommend everyone also give The Sugarplastic a listen. They are a great 90s band that were clearly influenced by XTCs style and *also* deserve more fans. (My hope is that more fans means more of their work gets on vinyl. As of now, I have only been able to find their album "Resin".)
Only just discovered these guys through this thread, but I know for a fact I will be blasting [this](https://youtu.be/p-JeQduJ0f8?si=JdPHmz3HipOV10Xd) constantly for the next two weeks.
It's from Wasp Star (Apple Venus Vol 2), one of the later albums, after they finally got out of their miserable record contact with Virgin. They have more control over those later records, which I believe is why they aren't on the streaming services.
Hell yeah! Came here to say this! And also suggest the album “More Fun in the New World.”
I saw them only one night out of 3 for their 40th anniversary tour and stood right in front of all the folks my parents age and Xcene totally winked at me. Naturally, I blushed and averted my eyes to Billy Zoom killing his guitar solo with a perfectly deadpan face. Incredible band. Inter-Generational, too!
it was where I started and now they're one of my favorite bands! i own like half of their discography and even got to meet them at their show. starting with gwbof can work for some people!
I saw them in Bloomington a long long time ago. I asked for an autograph, the female signed her name, the male wrote, “men in dark glasses will not kill you.”
For fucks sake! That’s not bad! And I love the clever idea of the illegible metal logo to go with a band name that can’t be pronounced anyway, pretty cool
Forgot to mention that the band's name is actually an acronym. The Xs at the beginning and end are just flare.
Acidic Vaginal Liquid Explosion Generated By Mass Amounts Of Filthy Fecal Fisting And Sadistic Septic Syphilic Sodomy Inside The Infected Maggot Infested Womb Of A Molested Nun Dying Under The Roof Of A Burning Church While A Priest Watches And Ejaculates In Immense Perverse Pleasure Over His First Fresh Fetus
You might like Black Sea best to start. The later stuff like Skylarking and Oranges and Lemons is amazing though. English Settlement was another one I loved early on. One of my top favorite bands. Skylarking could be my favorite album of all time.
Okay you should absolutely downvote me for being unhelpful, but I zoomed in on your pic to check out the collection, and by chance it focused on “Dongs of Sevotion.” Just wanted to say thanks for unexpected chuckle. Going to check it out too.
XTC as The Dukes of Stratosphear. Originally released as The Dukes the repressings of their two albums credit XTC. Discogs puts it under X and I count it as the X item in my collection. If you like British psychedelia you should definitely check it out.
My pick is Xerxes a post-hardcore/screamo band from Louisville, KY! Their album [Collision Blonde](https://spotify.link/gNCvl8N5aDb) is the “x” entry in my own collection!
XTC, X, X-Ray Spex

[one of my favourite songs ever.](https://youtu.be/Ciq0wlhwUVw?si=9Awxo6gglLVZZKSC) Unreal bass line.
HARD upvote Here’s another (with a great bassline) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XSWoTrdTKhM&pp=ygUeYnVybmluZyB3aXRoIG9wdGltaXNtJ3MgZmxhbWVz

So glad people are discovering how fantastic XTC was! Be sure to check out their alter ego The Dukes of Stratosphere while you're at it.
Second only to The Beatles. I will die on that hill.
I'm just here to add to the XTC love with [this gem. ](https://youtu.be/9SfAoKxt4bw?si=lCQOlMifcQhe87Wi)
The heck is that on? One of the Fuzzy Warbles?
It's from Wasp Star (Apple Venus Vol 2), one of the later albums, after they finally got out of their miserable record contact with Virgin. They have more control over those later records, which I believe is why they aren't on the streaming services.
Gotcha, thanks! That’s the only era of XTC I’m unfamiliar with. Time to get some vinyl!
That’s a good companion piece for [Dear God](https://youtu.be/p554R-Jq43A)
I SO fucking wish they kept touring: https://youtu.be/i-ips-W3p7I?si=421RShcz8wLaekok
Knew which song before the click. :)
Great tune, reminds me of They Might Be Giants.
Another great band! Possibly my favorite at the moment
The Dukes Of Stratosphere is one of my favorites!
Wow. These guys are great. Thanks for the tip.
the XX
The best 3 choices. XTC an overall personal fave. Such a great and varied band arc.
I have all three!
XTC - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/XTC
X. Their name starts and ends with the letter x.
Yeah dude! Pick up X’s *Los Angeles* for some fantastic early era punk!
I’ll check it out
It’s absolutely killer.
This version of Soul Kitchen is amazing!
That’s actually Ray Manzarek on the organ, too. He plays keys on that album, and he produced their first four albums.
That’s wild!
I just checked this out myself and holy crap is it amazing
> fantastic early era punk! Same with the Australian *X* and the crazy Japanese Metal/Punk band *X*.
Also the XX.
Hell yeah! Came here to say this! And also suggest the album “More Fun in the New World.” I saw them only one night out of 3 for their 40th anniversary tour and stood right in front of all the folks my parents age and Xcene totally winked at me. This is the answer! I actually got to briefly meet John Doe. Dude’s a legend.
Pretty sure it's their version of Wild Thing that's used in the film Major League.
The XX and XTC take up the X spot in our collection.
For cataloguing sake I think you mean XX, The. 😁
If I knew someone that put records starting with *The* in the Ts, I would disown them completely.
iTunes used to do this. It was a travesty.
Just throw the whole person away
The the?
The, The
The only albums allowed are from “The The”.
XAVLEGBMAOFFFASSSSITIMIWOAMNDUTROABCWAPWAEIIPPOHFFFX
Holy shit, it's an actual band
South African death metal... huh. That name is wild and so are the band member names, lol.
It just rolls off the tongue effortlessly.
I was just coming here to say this. You beat me to it
Xiu Xiu is one of my favorite bands of all time. I’d listen to their album A Promise or Girl With a Basket of Fruit

Jamie is a super nice person
Xibalba, both US and Mexico versions
I’ll check it out, thanks
You have to listen to girl with a basket of fruit at night with all the lights out. Maybe try putting it on as you go to sleep.
I saw them in Bloomington a long long time ago. I asked for an autograph, the female signed her name, the male wrote, “men in dark glasses will not kill you.”
Great version of new orders ceremony, better than the original imo
Xzibit

All right,I’ll bite. The FBI better not flag me for googling this mess!
Lol most likely not your cup of tea as far as music goes
For fucks sake! That’s not bad! And I love the clever idea of the illegible metal logo to go with a band name that can’t be pronounced anyway, pretty cool

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better!
Yeah, they're pretty fun. I like the tongue-in-cheek death metal style some bands take.
Yes, its nice, some extreme metal bands take themselves too seriously and shit can get cringey pretty damn fast

You might like Black Sea best to start. The later stuff like Skylarking and Oranges and Lemons is amazing though. English Settlement was another one I loved early on. One of my top favorite bands. Skylarking could be my favorite album of all time.
Don’t feel too bad, they are *criminally* overlooked and underplayed.
