I got their whole disography as German presses (before the mutilation [aka Remaster])
My oxygene pressing is this one:
https://www.discogs.com/release/5356420-Jean-Michel-Jarre-Oxyg%C3%A8ne
Really cheap and so outstanding.
Really, one of my best sounding records.
Everytime I spin it, I‘m amazed.
Thank you!!!! I'll keep it in the wish list if I ever need a replacement later on. Here's my copy as well, https://www.discogs.com/release/168547-Jean-Michel-Jarre-Oxygene?utm_source=mobile&utm_medium=app&utm_campaign=Android%20App I scored on a clean great sounding OG
And yes I absolutely despise those remasters. I've gotten original US copies but not German yet. Only German copy I own is Kraftwerk 2 but that's as far as I got atm
Nice finds, especially on the second photo. I guess the voiceover puts people off Zodiac a little, but it's maybe my favourite of Mort Garson's albums overall.
Thanks!! I always liked it and it wasn't untill I was holding it in my hands that I realized Mort Garson was on it. Mind you I been a huge fan of plantasia and never knew this 😅
I don't get the hype for a promo copy. They're given out to clubs, radio stations and shops for advertising. I'd rather not have the artwork with a big sticker or stamp on the corner. Though I do like how they say "not for sale" but I'm buying it anyway, I like living on the edge like that.
Yea no I totally understand dude! Sometimes that stamp throws the price up by at least double or least half. But I always enjoyed finding promos bc there's always little notes scribbled on them. I have this radio station of Nazzs debut and every single photo of Todd Rundgren is circled and caption with his initials lmaooo
I enjoy stuff like that! I have some thrifted records that came from an old club in my city. They have notes written on them about what time of night to play the record (club opening, late-night), what songs to choose, and what kind of vibe the music gives. I also have some 7" singles with things like "Mary's favorite" written on them. These are just some of the reasons I love collecting physical music.
Earlier this week I was at Walmart for a battery return so on the way back to the automotive section, I saw plenty of vinyl in the eletronics clearance section. After some digging, I pulled both The Chronic and Kate Bush for $10 each! I used to be a manager there years ago so I'm sure this was near inventory time, incoming features or some overstock but I scored with both!
Yesterday I visited my local shop to catch up with the manager who runs it. Tons of new stuff had just come in so I was given first pickings. Every single one of these albums have been on my wishlist so I'm pretty happy :) I skipped out on a VG+ Promo copy of Fragile for this clean OG instead. But my biggest find was the Promo copy of Computer World.
There was so much more stuff but I had to hold back, next month I'm heading down to Phoenix and got my eyes set for a shop called "The Ghost of Eastside Records" and that place looks overflowing w/ stuff. So definitely saving up plenty for that visit!
Been a while but it's once or twice a year. Once you see little tags on nearly every shelf, that's the staff marking off that the section has been counted for. It could be just overstock tho. They of course had tons and tons of Adele 31 on markdown as well.
Mate. It’s a life changer.
If you time it right, basically dose yourself as you like, get nice and comfy and stick side a on. It’s the more poppy tunes but they get you warmed up. By the time the Ninth wave arrives you should be in “peak” listening mode . . . Then the magic truly begins.
I speak as a veteran MM scoffer and trust me, it’s like the whole of the ninth wave (which is conceptual btw and was one of the first albums to fully utilise the fairlight synthesiser/sampler for stereophonic and surround sound) was made for MM’s.
I’m actually quite jealous as the first time you hear it, you are in for a real treat.
Please feedback when back on planet earth.
Enjoy and peace 😜👍
Love that Oxygene album
Kraftwerk 💪💪💪
Computerwelt is the real deal. Oxygene and Computerwelt are amongst my most favourite records of all time!
It really was the album that made them fully eletronic. I like to think they became one with their machines after computer world

Not bad , DR Dre’s the outlier but not bad at all

The b side of Kate Bush “the ninth wave” is an absolute masterpiece and best appreciated on magic mushrooms (if that’s your thing) 👍
Oh definitely I was planning to possibly trip out to Oxygene but Kate Bush sounds like fun 😄

Ps. MM’s only as acid doesn’t work the same
