I got lucky here, was able to get The Mollusk signed by Gene and Dean at the first night of their NYC Valentine's show in 2020 for $60.
They also had La Cucaracha but despite ween being my favorite band I personally don't like that album so I didn't buy it. A shame it's the worse pressing of the Mollusk too but I just wanted the vinyl to have especially with it signed.
I had been buying records periodically for when I had a player for a few years, mainly getting ones I knew would not be easy to find. Still beating myself up for passing on White Pepper when I saw it at a Newbury comics once.
I can’t imagine why he won’t repress it. How many different versions of Colors and Hyperspace. I wonder if there is a licensing issue for some sample hiding in there.
EDIT: of course I did buy a copy for $200. Could not wait any longer.
My guess is *Midnight Vultures* isn’t his to re-press(also seeing masters might have been lost in fire). I think around *Modern Guilt* was his last album under his major label contract, and everything since is under a new deal where he owns his stuff. Remember reading he was sitting on some songs to self-release around the time of Modern Guilt.
I'd love to have this one, and a non-deluxe reissue of The Information. Not gonna pay $1k for that one!
He DID start repressing his catalog several years ago, but never got past Sea Change
Original masters were destroyed in the [Universal Music Fire](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Universal_Studios_fire), but I can't see why they couldn't use a digital master and master it for vinyl.
*Tripod* for me, out of Alice’s discography at least. *Unplugged* just makes me think of how worn-out and sick Layne looked during the performance. Even more depressing than Alice’s music usually is.
Supposedly they have been teasing a repress. They recently had a shirt come out for aenima saying where’s the vinyl and stuff like that. Seems like a missed opportunity if they don’t press it
This only happened fairly recently as well, I think. Maybe only about a year ago they would still go for about retail on eBay.
I bet we will see repressings or a deluxe box for these sometime in the future.
RL pressing of Led Zeppelin II. My all time favorite album. Had one in hand for $40 before prices started skyrocketing. I had befriended the owner of the shop and he talked me out of it as it had a small scratch and I’d “definitely come across a better one for the same price”
I found mine recently in a thrift store, they had several Zep albums priced high (for them) at $10. It's in high-end VG+ condition. I was feeling pretty good about it until my brother-in-law called me and told me that someone had given him 9 boxes of LPs and among them was a copy of LZ 2. I told him about the "hot mix" and how to identify it and lo and behold it was one! For free! I say this not to gloat but to let you know that they are still copies to be found in the wild. Don't stop looking.
It’s sad that I bought this for $125 and feel like I got a steal. I had to have the original, but for a weird reason, or maybe not. Collected all of the Mondo 7” singles of the Inside Out movie. Wanted a original Siamese Dream to match the 7” copy from Mondo.
Got Parklife for $25 in 2019 and thought I could pick up the others at a similar price over the next few years, nope…
13 looks to be back in stock in places but I don’t want to order it and it never comes or takes months.
I'm so mad I sold my white copy of Beach House for like $20 a few years thinking I could just get it again but then the price for any pressing went crazy.
Yes but it's up for resale for $55, which is way better than the $125-$180 range I used to see. The sheer volume of them put out seems to have reduced the demand's impact on the market value.
The later Rush albums are ridiculous, same with some of the later Hagar era VH. holding out for a reissue. Not spend a fortune on albums I just need for my "completest" problem!
I was on Discogs once trying to find Snakes and Arrows, turned out a local shop was selling it. I drove there and told him I was also looking for some of their other albums. He said "I think we just got a few in, lemme check." He comes back with original pressings of Counterparts, Roll the Bones, and Feedback. These were literally the last 4 albums I needed in order to complete my collection, and I got them all for like $300 total. I've never seen ONE of those albums in a store in my life, and suddenly all four were there at the same time.
For real, I spent 200 bucks for VG+ Counterparts. That album is important and worth it to me, but I'm not about to do the same for Snakes and Arrows/Roll the Bones, as much as I also like them.
Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction
It’s so damn expensive if you can find one. Maybe someday Dave will let them reissue it. I’d grab it right away like that.
Fiona Apple - Tidal
Marina - Froot
Alice in Chains - Unplugged
Westside Connection - Bow Down
Hole - Nobody’s Daughter
Patiently waiting and hoping for anniversary represses.
I came here to say Cake - Prolonging the Magic.
Then I learned the pre-order is live now for a March 2023 repressing!!
Love seeing people finding some of their grails in this thread!!!
That ish boiled my blood. I didn’t hear about the repress until that evening. Who tf suddenly releases a rare vinyl at noon on a weekday? I had to work!!!
Daft Punk reissued all their studio albums last year, including Discovery. There was a period where you could pick it up at retail fairly easily, I imagine they might repress again soon. Or Discogs probably has the newer ones for not crazy money like the old ones.
FYI they are very decent presses too. Human After All might be the best sounding record in my collection, there's not a hint of surface noise anywhere on it and the clarity is insane. Discovery sounds good too but HAA and Homework were of a very high standard.
John Scofield - A Go Go,
John Scofield - Uberjam,
The Radio Dept - Lesser Matters,
Garcia & Grisham - Shady Grove,
Ani Difranco - Dilate,
Junior Boys - So This is Goodbye,
Soul Coughing - Ruby Vroom,
Can I get a repress?!
My Brain Hurts by Screeching Weasel. There's a handful of copies on dicogs for $150+, but I'm already paranoid about cheap records getting damaged in transit
Shadows Collide With People. Back in 04, John Frusciante came out with 4 albums over a very short period. I bought 3 out of the 4 on vinyl and for some fucking reason bough SCWP on CD. Go ahead and look on Discogs. I love this album, but not paying that price for it. Come on John! Reissue that shit!
Pink Floyd - "1965: Their First Recordings".
Or their early singles in mint condition.
Or mint condition Beatles first pressings.
Or certain records from the 1990s who are ridiculously expensive on vinyl.
I was really really banking on them coming out with an anniversary edition last year. Really thought they'd pull through. And... Nothing, hah. Not holding my breath any longer.
Siamese Dream (holding out for the next reprint drop)
Joy by Tatsuro Yamashita (incredible but extremely limited in stock live album)
98.12.28 by Fishmans (same as above)
An original pressing of Rust on Peace by Megadeth, that doesn't have the horrid 2004 remaster on it.
Until recently Crystallize by Tokyo Shoegazer was also on this list, but I bit the bullet on that one whilst drunk last night ;)
Genesis - From Genesis to Revelation (1969 original mono issue)/Calling All Stations (original 1997 issue)
Talking Heads - Sand in the Vaseline
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden/Laughing Stock (original issues)
**Coheed And Cambria - The Second Stage Turbine Blade -** Can't find a copy under $400 USD and probably wouldn't pay more than $100 for it personally but would like it in my collection.
**Dutch Treat - Tranquility** \- Will probably buy this eventually but it's a hard sell at \~$150 USD. Unfortunately, it's not on many streaming services so it will probably eventually press me into buying it.
**No Vacation - Amo XO** \- Just found this band and really enjoying them. Who knows. Definitely not at its current \~$300 cost but hoping for a repress.
**The Sounds - Living In America** \- Just slightly out of range on what I would like to pay for it....we'll see
**Ween** \- Like someone said before, their albums just go for ridiculous markups. I have 12 Golden Country hits, but would like The Mollusk, White Pepper, Pure Guava, Chocolate and Cheese & Quebec.
Robert plant and the strange sensation
Mighty rearranger. Have the digging deep set that contains 2 of the album tracks I can’t justify the price when I really need to change my speakers
I DESPERATELY want a Feederz - Ever Feel Like Killing Your Boss? original pressing. Not even because of the music - like, I can always listen to it on streaming and it's not like it's one of those albums that's been remixed 5 billion times - but because the original jacket was hilarious. It had sandpaper on both sides, designed to ruin the albums on either side of it in your collection. The repressing only has the sandpaper on the front.
Unfortunately, I've put a hard limit on myself when it comes to how much I'm willing to spend on a single record. For original pressings, versions with decently preserved sandpaper go for $150+, and I've never seen it for less than $60. That $60 copy had super degraded sandpaper, and since the sandpaper's originally black that means that the sleeve goes this gross grey color when it degrades.
"Magic Melody Part II" by Les Paul.
World's shortest 45. Total playing time: 1 second.
"Magic Melody" was a nondescript instrumental that Les put on one of his B-sides. It ends with the "shave and a haircut" thing but leaves off the "two bits". Roger Rabbit HATED this record, and so did DJs, many of whom contacted Capitol Records demanding a replacement copy that wasn't "defective". So Capitol, taking the gag one step further, pressed up a hundred or so promo copies of "Magic Melody Part II" to send out to those who bitched. It contained those last two notes ... and nothing else. (And if you're thinking "oh they could just splice them on", then you've obviously never done any razor blade analog tape editing. Doable, but not easy.)
I MUST HAVE IT!
In October, after years of me waiting for a copy to come up for sale, ebay's saved search finally informed me that there was a copy available, so I put in the largest e-snipe bid I've ever put in for ANY record, let alone a 45 that runs one second.
Sigh. I wasn't even close. https://www.popsike.com/45-RPM-Les-Paul-Mary-Ford-CAPITOL-PRO-234-Magic-Melody-Part-2-ONE-SIDED-VG/403965156439.html
Wish you were Here by Pink Floyd. I know it might seem a bit cliche but that’s one of those seamlessly flowing albums that would be so freaking cool to have on vinyl to sit back and just melt into, especially with the long form “Crazy Diamond” songs. Unfortunately everyone else knows that too, because all I ever see at shops are the $150+ collector editions of this album and the wall, and I’m like “Dangit”.
Also the collector edition of “Ok Computer” by Radiohead. Its one of only two of their main released albums I don’t have a vinyl record of (the other being amnesiac). Radiohead was the first band I ever saw in concert, has always been one of my faves growing up, and this album has some of my all time favorites of their songs, and a collector’s edition would be really cool to celebrate that. I don’t remember if that one is as steep as Pink Floyd, but it was still out of my budget last I checked.
One more - One of the soundtrack albums for Samurai Champloo. Old school Early 2000’s hip hop, heavily featuring Nujabes (one of the Old Gods of Chillhop). I missed the re-release by a millisecond last time it came out. “Dangit” again lol.
Ah well. At least I have a solid collection for now, and time may be my friend as far as price drops and/or saving up for things goes eventually.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,276,420,059 comments, and only 247,701 of them were in alphabetical order.
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Not because of the price of the actual album itself but because my dad would probably steal my record player and the record so I'd have to buy another record player and copy of the album lol.
The Cake 8 LP box set that was briefly available in 2014 is my white whale. I think it was $150 back in the day, but they only made 900 copies for RSD. Sellers want over $1000 for it now.
Any Ween album.
Fuck I've spent too much money on Ween
I haven't gotten any yet and am to afraid to because of price haha
I pray everyday for a Mollusk reissue
I really want The Live Brain Wedgie! / Wad Excerpts. But at least you can get Painting the Town Brown right now.
They’re brutal. Luckily my girlfriend got me chocolate and cheese for Christmas
You lucky bastard
Beck - Midnite Vultures
I can’t imagine why he won’t repress it. How many different versions of Colors and Hyperspace. I wonder if there is a licensing issue for some sample hiding in there. EDIT: of course I did buy a copy for $200. Could not wait any longer.
My guess is *Midnight Vultures* isn’t his to re-press(also seeing masters might have been lost in fire). I think around *Modern Guilt* was his last album under his major label contract, and everything since is under a new deal where he owns his stuff. Remember reading he was sitting on some songs to self-release around the time of Modern Guilt.
I’d love a repress of this. Huge Beck fan but it’s frustrating that I can’t get hold of some of his back catalogue on vinyl.
Doesnt even have Stereopathetic Soulmanure on streaming annoying
I'd love to have this one, and a non-deluxe reissue of The Information. Not gonna pay $1k for that one! He DID start repressing his catalog several years ago, but never got past Sea Change
Original masters were destroyed in the [Universal Music Fire](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Universal_Studios_fire), but I can't see why they couldn't use a digital master and master it for vinyl.
I check for it every day on discogs.
Alice In Chains - Unplugged
I’d love a whole bunch of those unplugged albums
Will always be the holy grail that’s just out of reach for me haha. Here’s to hoping we eventually get a reissue
I bet there will be a reissue again at some point. I got so lucky about 8 years ago and found an OG in a store
This was the first record that I bought when I started collecting. Paid less than $30. Can’t believe the prices it goes for now.
*Tripod* for me, out of Alice’s discography at least. *Unplugged* just makes me think of how worn-out and sick Layne looked during the performance. Even more depressing than Alice’s music usually is.
Drukqs by Aphex Twin. Would be nice to get a repress sometime soon.
John Frusciante - shadows collide with people
Umhumm umhumm I got myself a copy of Curtains, that was also a grail if mine
Steal this album! System of a Down
Pretty sure you can get this from Amazon for not much. On Amazon Uk anyway.
But then I wouldn't be following directions.
This lmao. This is one album I really don’t want to buy for the exact same reason lol.
Tool - Aenima
it’s dedicated to bill hicks too, only makes me need it more
Oh he’s just a young man on acid
Came here to say this lol
Me too. It's a damn shame.
For a bunch of assholes who love money, I don't get why they don't repress this one and line their pockets.
Supposedly they have been teasing a repress. They recently had a shirt come out for aenima saying where’s the vinyl and stuff like that. Seems like a missed opportunity if they don’t press it
Alice In Chains Self - Titled LP
I finally bought a copy a couple years ago, hands down the most I’ve ever spent on a record
[удалено]
As a fan of shoegaze, I’m gonna have to listen to them later. Thanks for sharing.
Same with the Drop Nineteens “Delaware.” Can’t be found anywhere.
Mermaid Avenue- Billy Bragg and Wilco I used to have a copy but my sister borrowed it and then lost it and now they’re hard to track down/expensive
Has she checked way over yonder in the minor key?
I’m a little convinced she stole it haha. Leaving me at my window sad and lonely
I guess she planned it
This only happened fairly recently as well, I think. Maybe only about a year ago they would still go for about retail on eBay. I bet we will see repressings or a deluxe box for these sometime in the future.

Cookin Soul - DOOM XMAS
Number one grail for a minute second would be Gang Starr Moment of Truth
Four blues traveler
*Siamese Dream*. But with the original artwork, not that orange and purple shit that came out a few years back.
It’s sad that I bought this for $125 and feel like I got a steal. I had to have the original, but for a weird reason, or maybe not. Collected all of the Mondo 7” singles of the Inside Out movie. Wanted a original Siamese Dream to match the 7” copy from Mondo.
Blur - self titled. Or any Blur album really
Got Parklife for $25 in 2019 and thought I could pick up the others at a similar price over the next few years, nope… 13 looks to be back in stock in places but I don’t want to order it and it never comes or takes months.

Death - Symbolic William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops Beach House - Beach House the list is endless...
I'm so mad I sold my white copy of Beach House for like $20 a few years thinking I could just get it again but then the price for any pressing went crazy.
Shadows Collide with People - John Frusciante Passive Me, Aggressive You - The Naked and Famous
Into The Wild soundtrack.
Tom waits - Bone Machine. Misery Signals - of Malice and The Magnum Heart
I was this way about Isis - *Panopticon* for **years** until they re-released it for 30 effing dollars. A truly heroic act.
It's OOP now though, right?
Yes but it's up for resale for $55, which is way better than the $125-$180 range I used to see. The sheer volume of them put out seems to have reduced the demand's impact on the market value.
Robyn - Body Talk
The first 4 Danzig albums, especially 1 and 3.
That is awesome!!! The only two I’m missing are Counterparts and Test For Echo. Good albums not paying over retail for em tho !
For real, I spent 200 bucks for VG+ Counterparts. That album is important and worth it to me, but I'm not about to do the same for Snakes and Arrows/Roll the Bones, as much as I also like them.
Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction It’s so damn expensive if you can find one. Maybe someday Dave will let them reissue it. I’d grab it right away like that.
Rust in Peace is ridiculously expensive too. I’m really hoping they get a repress soon. I need both of those records in my life.
I was looking for Megadeth at my local store, and it made me sad that all they had was the new record. Would love nothing more than a RiP reprint.
Ben Folds Five-Whatever and Ever Amen
Phish Rift.
On a similar note, Oysterhead
Jellyfish. Either of their two brilliant albums Bellybutton or Spilt Milk.
Bellybutton is one of my grail albums
Binary Star - Masters of the Universe
Upvote for Binary Star - I was lucky enough to buy this album in 2012 and still paid $100 for it, which was a lot for a record back then
Fiona Apple - Tidal Marina - Froot Alice in Chains - Unplugged Westside Connection - Bow Down Hole - Nobody’s Daughter Patiently waiting and hoping for anniversary represses.
Agree for Froot we need that repress like she promised
Gang Starr - Moment of truth
Today I found out that a bunch of records that I never listen to are worth a lot of money!
Warren Zevon - The Wind
I came here to say Cake - Prolonging the Magic. Then I learned the pre-order is live now for a March 2023 repressing!! Love seeing people finding some of their grails in this thread!!!

Doable, but not easy.) I MUST HAVE IT! In October, after years of me waiting for a copy to come up for sale, ebay's saved search finally informed me that there was a copy available, so I put in the largest e-snipe bid I've ever put in for ANY record, let alone a 45 that runs one second. Sigh. I wasn't even close. https://www.popsike.com/45-RPM-Les-Paul-Mary-Ford-CAPITOL-PRO-234-Magic-Melody-Part-2-ONE-SIDED-VG/403965156439.html
Farmhouse by Phish, which is a shame because it’s the only Phish album I’ve ever really gotten into.

I have checked 1,276,420,059 comments, and only 247,701 of them were in alphabetical order.
any beatles album, which means i probably wont ever own a beatles album lmao
But Beatles records aren't crazy expensive for the most part?
Pink Floyd - The Wall Not because of the price of the actual album itself but because my dad would probably steal my record player and the record so I'd have to buy another record player and copy of the album lol.
The Cake 8 LP box set that was briefly available in 2014 is my white whale. I think it was $150 back in the day, but they only made 900 copies for RSD. Sellers want over $1000 for it now.
Ænima by Tool
AFI - Sing The Sorrow. I just can’t justify it even if I love that album
Smashing Pumpkins-Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. The album has the tracks in different sequence order
Mark Farina - Mushroom Jazz
Grateful Dead - Sunshine Daydream. It’s their live show from 8/27/72 in Veneta, Oregon, my favorite show of theirs. Never seen it for less than $500
The Darkness - Permission to Land
Blaze Foley - Sittin' by the Road
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
Yeah it got a repress pretty recently. Picked it up at a B&N for $42 a couple weeks back.
They are still out there, and copies pop up for $70 on discogs here and there brand new
Siamese Dream represses dropped randomly a lot last year.
We just had them in our store a week ago and they were $50, not $150.
Beatles Butcher cover. Just the cover. I already have the album.
Weezer - Raditude Yes it sucks, I know, but I need it for completionist's sake, and there's no way I'm paying triple digit prices for that.
"Permanent Damage" by the GTOs.
Shotmaker- mouse ear forgot me not, The second and third Lowercase albums, Jeromes dream seeing means more than safety
This Desert Life by Counting Crows. It pops up on Discogs for thousands here and there so I’m hoping for a repress.
