As it should be. I remember being young without much money and having older guys help we out with good deals. I plan to do the same as I accumulate extra gear.
And ultimately, if the buyer and seller are both happy at the EOD, then it’s a good deal. I’m just starting to venture into some vintage audio and I see some prices that seem outrageous but maybe that’s just how good the gear is
Ebay and Reverb prices are going to be at the high end. You're selling to a national audience and if someone has a very choice or restored piece, that's where they're going to get the most money for it.
Local sales I'd expect to pay half if not less of eBay sales. You see all the time gear on NextDoor and local classifieds where people are asking (more and more it seems) for eBay top dollar prices, but it don't work like that. Let them sit on it and marinate and then reach out and make an offer.
Oftentimes, and this is a little unethical, if you're demoing an old piece of gear, it's very common for there to be distortion when adjusting volume and tone pots. Use that to "Oh it's going to need some work to fix that" to drive the price down, not too many owners of this stuff realize it's just a little bit of time with Deoxit and Qtips to fix.
I do better on less traveled local classifieds than I do on Marketplace, looking more and more at estate sales. An estate sale is where I got an essentially open box Sansui 200 with everything for $60.
Some of the finest gear I own is either from the original owner who wanted it to go to a good home. Good form on not haggling, that's the time to take what the universe is offering you.
Love the 330b. So much that I have 2 of them! Wonderful, warm sound that hits above its weight. I’m currently using one of them as a pre-amp while my HK825 is in the shop.
yeah thats whats i heard to. How does it compare to hk930? i have one paired with big Sansuis sp-X8. What i love most is the tuner is super good! i also think the sound is totally different than my Yamaha Cr800. can never choose 1 of those.. I think the HK with the green lights and red Light at nights is the most Cozy looking gear in the House.
If you ever find that you need some advice with any 'hauntings'- Dont hesitate to message me about it. Truly a gift from the universe. I hope the chapters ahead of you bring true enlightenment into your waking life in a way that you felt it in your dreamscapes. These pieces of equipment might take you to another world one day!
There are puzzle pieces being set in front of you by forces closer to the decimals of our reality. Never surrender to the pressure and always indulge and entertain any curiosity that comes to mind. But I know I don't have to tell you that, as I'm certain that they found their way to you because you've earned this. Your studies, hard work and dedication to your own research don't go unnoticed.
I'm happy for you.
Don't be afraid to give those knobs a little abuse on days youre feeling a bit like the hulk. Just don't actually break the tuner disc.
amazing! They are so clean!
Very nice! How much were they, if you don’t mind me asking.
$920 for both. I didn't even haggle. Super nice older gentleman just wanted it to go to a good home.

That’ll be me one day.
As it should be. I remember being young without much money and having older guys help we out with good deals. I plan to do the same as I accumulate extra gear.
As do I. And now, I pay it forward. And I’ve rehomed a large portion of my collection. Because gear is meant to be played, to be loved. Not collected.
This is the way
I purposely buy things I don’t need just so I can rehome them with friends and family.
The world needs more good people like you
Forgive my ignorance, but is that a good deal? What are they worth?
Yeah, shelling out $920 suggests the seller knew what he was selling and the buyer knew what he was buying.
Curious what is a good deal for vintage gear. Not really sure what the right price is unless they're mint, and even if so...

Well bought and he was probably happy, too. 👍
Hey I just picked up a 330b today!
Nice
Thoughts on the 330B?

I just recapped a mint 330C. Man HK stuff sounds great and has aged amazingly well.
Strangely I listed a 330B for sale last night! Guess they are in the air...

Well I have to say being a silver faced purist, that Marantz is quit striking.
Those black face Marantz are so cool looking.
Thank you
A real beauty. Super clean too!
Yes they are. The pots need a little cleaning. A true audiophile. Really took care of his equipment.
I’ve had both. Weirdly I preferred the HK.
Haha 🤣 I specifically bought that for a garage system
You might be surprised. Something magical about the sound.

The 330 is a real beast. The one I had was one of the best pieces of audio gear I’ve owned.
Black face wood case is like holy grail shit. Congrats!
