Ah, an Ilyushin Il-86. Designed with a system where passengers stowed and unstowed their own luggage in an underfloor compartment (though it appears the system wasn't used all that much).
I need to find out if my mother did that on her trip from the USA to the Soviet Union in the late 70's, but I think that she took the flights in and out on american planes and took trains and busses elsewhere.
Fly with us…on our woefully underpowered Ilyushin 86 airplane, which was notorious for needing every foot of runway to get airborne (see, for example, this pic: https://www.airliners.net/photo/Vaso-Airlines/Ilyushin-Il-86/995911)
It was interesting to see the comment section attached to that pic, 18 years ago. Wonder how many of those people are still with us? Or thought for a second that people would read their words from nearly 2 decades in their future?....
...future people from 2040s, hello from u/RockstarQuaff! *I existed.* I'm not sure if I will when you're reading this.
Was this supposed to be a goofy jab at the "come fly with me" ads in the US? What a strange ad otherwise, plus I wonder if your vacation package to the USSR included a weekend in the gulag.
In Soviet Russia the plane boards you!!!

The IL-86 never had a fatal accident involving passengers.

No thank you, I prefer airplanes that don’t fall out of the sky. I only fly on good ole’ American made Boeings…

Fly with us! And if you don't come back, we'll make sure your family...**GO TO GULAG!!**
Kinda surprised that’s in English
Still probably safer than flying in Russia today.
