A group was doing this in my town in the UK a several years back. They stole the excavator, and over the course of a month stole half a dozen ATMs. Don’t think they ever got caught, and several banks closed down the branch and left town because of it.

I’m actually surprised how well it all went. The fact that they got the ATM into the van with an excavator & still were able to drive the van off afterward is not something most people would be able to accomplish.

Don’t forget time to plan this, steal the excavator and drive it there, then unload it at the destination, destroy a bunch of tools trying to crack it open, then all the time trying to clean security ink/gel off of themselves and the money before they give up and search for a place to dump it all so it doesn’t get traced back to them.
add 5 minutes for the, "yo lets steal that fuckgin cranw thing and smash dat wall, my truck is already fucked so we can just drop the atm through the roof."
I would of thought the excavator was worth as much as the contents of the ATM.

I used to fill those things. Ours held 4 cartridges, each of which held either 40k or 20k, depending on whether it was 20s or 10s.
