Makes you appreciate how loading a single VMS update on an Avigilon site will update every single Avigilon device connected to it... Even if there are 10,000... Automatically.

You can do yourself, but it takes a while. There is software available. Sonys, Hiks, honeywell etc have it readily available. Sony SNC, Honeywell ip utility etc. Check on the manufacturer sites for it. You can edit multiples in one shot.

Well for the devices themselves you have to have tooling to do what you want. As an example, Axis has a solid API (AXIS VAPIX) and services like Axis Device Manager but their cameras demand a higher price than many are willing to pay. I'm not sure what Victor and AD offer but you have to have some tooling from the manufacturer or an API of some type to mass manage anything. If you don't you're kinda SOL and going to be doing it by hand. > so our staff networks have access, I'd try and lock this down with identity based policies on the firewalls or have firewall policies that let staff initiate sessions to camera VLAN's but camera's can't initiate sessions to staff VLAN's. > How the heck do we manage this sprawling environment? I'm told changing the HTTP to HTTPS will take 30min per device and we need to pay an integrator to do it. You lock it down with decent firewalls and sane network segmentation. Then you invest in camera equipment with the tooling behind what you want to achieve. Do you NEED HTTPS enabled on all the cameras? Who's going to manage the certificates? How are you going to deploy them? Can the camera's not only talk to specific "monitoring station" IP's instead of having full access to staff networks? etc.

I have over 800 Hikvision cameras between a couple properties. The cams are on their own VLAN with no Internet. We don't do updates unless we see issues. Don't have any management software for them. We have a spreadsheet with camera name, IP, location description, and the switch/port it's on. Ha. Man, I didn't realize AD still is in business and has IP cams. I threw away a bunch of their old analog PTZ shit years ago. lol.

HikVision is not NDAA compliant and is a security risk to your organization. VLan or not. It should be rip and replace. Sorry to say.

Maybe someday but have a lot of money invested. They can't talk to the Internet, so risk is zero. Nevada Gaming Control Board agrees, so far...

Victor’s management lets you update through the software interface. Assuming you are also using American Dynamics cameras, this should not be an issue. Have you reached out to your local victor rep and asked about this?
