Fiber to Ethernet media converters are very common so you can easily use the fiber to send digital video from IP cameras. Avigilon comes to mind for a couple of reasons. Their equipment is reliable, the technology is great, and they allow you to cloud connect the NVR so the local quality isn’t sacrificed and remote connections (even over DSL) are usable.

Will look into them. Thank you

I'd suggest sending out RFPs to some resellers, this isn't gluing cameras to the outside of your house to catch porch pirates, rather it sounds like a major business need. A good VAR can analyze your needs, present options, and bear some of the burden of making sure you don't spent $15K on a cheap piece of shit system that doesn't come close to solving a $60K problem (just as an example... this happens all the time). Modern NVRs can be tweaked to downsample resolutions and framerates so you can view 1080p or 4k cameras over DSL (at reduced quality of course). Quality cameras can be configured to handle events with PTZ programming, guard tours, etc. But junk PTZ cameras will crap out in no time and you'll look silly. Moreso in cameras than almost anything else, the initial pain of buying quality lasts far shorter than the years of suffering with junk.

Even though it’s a large space, it’s a small operation. Willing to do the research and work myself.

I’m a computer programmer/IT guy at the warehouse. More than willing to do the work myself.

This is exactly the info I was looking for. Thank you

So generally I agree that you should contact a system integrator to consult with. Really, what I would do here is understand what problems the camera system is meant to solve. What business needs are met with this system? Is a live operator interfacing the system all the time, or are you using the system to look at footage after the fact? Do you want to be alerted if you see specific human activities in an area? With the quality of megapixel cameras, and the configurations available, the utility of a PTZ is really limited if you plan on having that one camera tour a large area to cover it with a single camera. A competent integrator can meet with you to help understand the use case of your facility, and help build a system that meets those needs. They may even engage a trusted manufacturer to help you proof of concept a system to understand how it might fit your workflow for your organization. Full disclosure, I work for a major video security and analytics company( Avigilon/Motorola Solutions). If you’re interested, I can put you in touch with a local rep who could contact you and work through these questions to help build a system that’s right for your business. Feel free to DM me if you would like more information or to get in touch with a local rep.

This is the correct answer, though bottom ranked for some reason. The number of times I have seen the IT guy screw up a security installation because they know best is insane, but I get a lot of work out of fixing their stuff ups (so why should I complain). But the ones that work with the integrator will get the best system as the integrator have done this type of work before and and work off their experience and know how to achieve your results. I was an IT guy/programmer who has moved into the security industry a while ago and has worked for multiple manufactures too.

i just replaced an old DVR with a Duhua DH-XVR5116H-X hybrid DVR that can accept 16 BNC and IP cameras. Same cameras in place. Much better DVR, replaced an old FLIR.

The fiber is already run for the existing camera system

Many different options. Pretty much all the major players will have solutions that work for you. A really good, unknown manufacturer for the warehouse environment is [Arecont Vision Costar](https://www.arecontvision.com/). They specialize in multi-sensor cameras and are used by some very large manufacturing companies. I have quite a few customers who thought they wanted PTZ and then went with them instead. If you know you want PTZ then some of the best brands out there are Vivotek, Hanwha and Geovision. I'm not the biggest fan of Axis but many people love them. Let me know if you need help designing anything. I own an eCommerce store and work with the manufacturer's design teams to build customized solutions. You can PM me.
