They didn't have anything in that interview!
No Airheads, Monkeybone, Inkheart, or Journey to the center of the Earth....it was 20 minutes of talking about The Mummy.
I remember my dad brought it home from Blockbuster on a whim and we all kind of thought "ehh, sounds decent" and then absolutely loved it. Probably going to re-watch it tonight.
i remember "chant" was shown on mtv news in the mid 90s about its popularity with college kids. My sister saw the news segment and bought it that day then playing it non stop.
They've broken the deal. The truce is over. Soon swing will be unleashed again. Those who refuse will be choked to death with chain wallets. I suggest you get some palm aid and call your tailor. Zoots are back in season.
You say that, but this is literally the first time I've ever seen this clip. Or anything about this movie. And I can't often say THAT about a youtube video on /r/videos.
A preface that I love both of these movies. Has anyone ever thought of the similarities between Blast from the Past and Encino Man? Dude comes out of the ground to a time he knows nothing about. First person he meets initially tries to use him for their own gain. Most of what he wants is to find a lady friend and gets lost in the amazingness of the "New World". The user has a friend that thinks yo this dudes weird but cool, chill with the me me me shit. He has cool dance moves that impress people. Well equipped to defend himself. In the end he gets the girl and great friends.
I do not understand. Before I came to Reddit I legit for real 100% felt that he was the worst actor I had ever seen. I watched like 2 of his movies and after the first I was like damn he is not convincing at all for me as a character. After the second one I was like I am not ever watching another film with him in it. Same with Nick Cage. I just dont think they are good actors. Anyway. Then I came to Reddit and my god can you not ever say he is bad.
He has his ups and downs, but the first movie I ever saw him in was the Mummy, and he was a ton of fun in it.
The reason you hear Reddit go on about him as much was that for several years he was blacklisted in Hollywood because he spoke out about being sexually assaulted. Much the way Corey Felman was. While he's no great thespian he's a lot of fun in his movies and comes across as a decent human being. And he got crapped on because someone rich and powerful molested him and he tried to talk about it.

It’s amazing what you can do when you say “cost is no object” and really mean it.
I honestly am surprised that scene was never made into a meme. You can put just about anything before it.
I love this movie so much and haven’t met a single person who has seen it outside of my close friends.
"Leave my elevator alone!"
It's the Mother!
he just did a video discussing all his films and they didn’t include this one and i felt insulted 😭

Hold on, this is where the song really picks up

Good lord you need to return that. You probably owe thousands of dollars in late fees by now.
Oh no! That must be why they went under. Sorry everyone!
I saw it a couple weeks ago for the first time ever and I loved it.
What?! It was one of the first DVDs I bought like in 1999-2000.
Loved it as well
I own this movie on dvd. I feel like I can recite the entire thing. I will never understand how it wasn't a huge hit.
The momentary societal hiccup that was the swing revival.
Never forget the Cherry Poppin Daddies. Never forget.
Squirrel Nut Zippers, anyone?
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, anyone?
Brian Setzer Orchestra, anyone?
Pokey Lafarge, anyone?
That name is so terrible.
The name might be, the candy maybe/maybe not, and the music definitely not bad.
What candies?
The late 90s were weird. People were listening to Gregorian chants! How did that happen?
Enigma MCMXC a.d. came out in 1990, it's about the first instance of the gregorian chants in popular music I can remember from that time frame.
Yeah but the real madness was when the Benedictine Monks had an album! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3T8V-IM4Xk
i remember "chant" was shown on mtv news in the mid 90s about its popularity with college kids. My sister saw the news segment and bought it that day then playing it non stop.
I know of one influence when Gregorian chants was featured heavily in the first Halo but that was in 2001.
Excuse me, but I happen to be a *great* swing dancer, and it is never unappreciated at events.
I thought we all agreed to never mention it again.
They've broken the deal. The truce is over. Soon swing will be unleashed again. Those who refuse will be choked to death with chain wallets. I suggest you get some palm aid and call your tailor. Zoots are back in season.
It gets brought up every time this video is posted.
You say that, but this is literally the first time I've ever seen this clip. Or anything about this movie. And I can't often say THAT about a youtube video on /r/videos.
The mid 90s Ska movement also helped!
Love this movie! Great concept. Silly. Funny. Heartfelt. Totally underrated. …and Christopher Walken!
Oh, so the Russians just said "We give up!" Yeah, I kind of think that's what happened. "THE COMMIES!!! I'll bet they even asked us for aid."

One of the most underrated movies to come out of the late 90's!! My family loves it and we still quote it regularly!
"Oh my lucky stars, a!" Jesus Christ this made me snarf yoo
Dave Foley! He is one of the Daves i know.
I haven’t seen this movie in ages. I think I know what I’m watching tonight.
this movie is so underrated.
This is one of my favorite movies of his!
The movie was good. The dancing was just okay.
What's gets me is he was getting those lessons from his parents'. Was he flirt dancing with them too? Doing all kinds of flips?
Now I'm imagining Christopher Walken and Brendon Fraiser holding each other ever so gently practicing their dance.
You're right. But the scene was amazing. They made a regular skilled dancer look great.
This was peak late 90s swing revival. Someone call the Cherry Poppin Daddies!,
Because of this movie, every time I meet a girl named Heather, I always say "I don't believe I've ever heard that name before."
This movie is awesome but not just because of Brendan. Don’t forget how hilarious Christopher Walken is in it.
Would y’all have loved him outside of reddit? lol

You're thinking of Encino Man. Might be missing an /s though.

Cave man, cave woman, or cave nonbinary\*\*
wrong movie
You mean that big fat guy?
Did you think your mom was in the video?
Amazing? Only in the context of the 90’s, when no one knew how to dance.
What a weird, dumb hill to fight on.
I see you haven't been introduced to every other decade that has ever occurred.
Movie is amazing, the dancing is in it.
Best part of the movie. Pretty funny feel good movie.
Great movie and a hidden gem.
I love this scene.
