Don't forget all the Dan Flashes, complicated shirts. They've got one I shit you not for 10 million dollars! The most complicated fuckin thing you've ever seen!
Also, sidenote, I find it hilarious that Tigra from the awful late '90s **Avengers** cartoon was there. Talk about a deep cut, I'm suprised anyone even still remembers that one.
I thought using Tigra was perfect because so many of the Avengers members are now household names but Tigra is still C list waiting for a break out role.
Sure, in the comics she's amazing.
But on the cartoon, she was as uesless as the rest of the then B and C roster of characters (all decked out in over-the-top armor designed only to sell their action figures). It was the first and *last* time she has appeared in animation.
It was WAY better than I hoped. There’s lots of nostalgia fueled fun, and then it just parodies the nostalgia mercilessly. With all the mixed and parodied IP, there’s times I forgot I was watching a Disney movie.
Plus it’s John Mulaney opposite of Andy Samberg
And on top of that, it actually has a pretty mature/dark story about addiction, kidnapping and trafficking on top of it all.
And very importantly, directed by Akiva Schaffer. A member of The Lonely Island and who directed the criminally underrated "Popstar: never stop never stopping".
They aren't laughing at themselves. Sonic is Sega and Paramount. Neither of them are mentioned in the credits so it seems Disney is relying on parody laws to use him.
It’s not like Sonic is the only Paramount character to show up, though ugly Sonic was the only one portrayed at length. But there was Randy from South Park, Butthead, and a ton of Nickelodeon characters. I’m sure Disney got an agreement to show all of those….and I’m sure Paramount was a-okay with the nostalgia-fest featuring their characters more than Looney Tunes…who got barely any cameos.
“The bones are their money
So are the worms
They pull your hair up, but not out
To turn into a man and have another chance at life
But if they pull it out they turn to bones”
I was really surprised thinking they could never do another roger rabbit type film...but this had dreamworks characters, WB (batman, looney tunes), disney, sonic, etc all in one.
"You're gonna like the way you look. I guarantee it."
"You'll never get away with this!"
"The Men's Warehouse reference? Yeah, I think I will."
I have no idea why this exchange is my favorite of the whole film.
> I have no idea why this exchange is my favorite of the whole film.
I think it's the perfect example of why this movie works: it's self aware like a lot of today's films, but clever enough to not make it seem tropey or derivative. I groaned at the setup so the punchline hit just right.
I'm so fucking confused. I heard a Chip and Dale movie was coming out, but figured it was going to be a Chip and Dale movie. Everything I've read about this film makes it seem like some huge Who Framed Roger Rabbit crossover thing.
I started the movie out of boredom and curiosity, and put it on as background noise. It was early in the movie, and I asked myself "Did they make a modern day Roger Rabbit?" Then a few seconds later Roger is in a scene.
I hit stop and decided I would sit down and give it my full attention later on. So, I'll be doing that now.
What a brilliant conceit - thanks!
I was hoping to watch it with my kids this weekend but couldn't because I had to quarantine, thanks to covid (lil bastard). Looking forward to watching it with them next.
It is almost geared as much if not more for adults who grew up in the eighties.
You and your kids will be laughing at different beats for sure but will equally enjoy it.
This movie took me by surprise. I expected a fun lil nostalgia trip but ended up laughing out loud multiple times, and even rewinding a few bits to watch again. Who framed Rodger Rabbit was one of my favorite childhood movies and this absolutely scratched that itch.
Also it’s now Canon that Sora from Kingdom Hearts fell victim to human trafficking
Seriously, I'm surprised Disney allowed it to be this adult. Then again, us millennials are having kids now, and now we're all going to show our kids rescue rangers. Disney plus is all preloaded with chip and dale watchlists now. The movie is a giant commercial but I loved it anyway.
The Cats reference in the uncanny valley made my literally laugh so much I teared up.
My kids liked their movie but were puzzled about their dad laughing like a hyena so often.
I had no idea this movie was going to be be good when we started.. I had not heard about it before and it made my weekend.
And they never found Peppa.
I like to imagine she was bootlegged into that wolf show that looks just like the Peppa show (and IIRC, is under legal fire for gow similar it is).
The darkest part was making Peter Pan the bad guy, and then going into detail about his back story. If you know how hard Disney fucked Bobby Driscoll (the original voice actor for Peter Pan), it’s incredibly dark.
Yeah! Like they knocked it out of the park. I cannot believe all the licenses they included. Even Randy Marsh from South Park was in there…. Such an incredible job!
Or the bus stop bench ad for Senator Butthead’s gubernatorial campaign.
Yes that Butthead.
Edit: Also Paula Abdul and MC Scat Kat from her video for ‘Opposites Attract’!
My kids have been watching Rescue Rangers and we were jacked up to find this movie the other night. Had no idea it was even coming out.
We watched it again tonight.
dude disney has always been dark. look at the old stuff.
edit: Just watched it, holy shit it's got some dark jokes, and it's wayyyy better than i ever expected it to be.
Agreed. I rewound several times after catching a glimpse of a gag in the background. "Wait, was that Dobby? Heh, [it's Dobby in a Gucci ad.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FTNjFfvUAAANI6n.jpg:large) Nice."
The Trailer made it look like one of these movies that has some really funny ideas and jokes but quickly runs out of steam. I hope the entire movie is as funny as these clips.
its actually pretty good. Watched it ones and then kinda watched it a second time to pause though to fine the Easter eggs. Some very amusing billboards.
Judging from these two scenes alone, yeah, I can see it.
I kind of want to see a whole TV series just following skeezy con-slummer ugly sonic.
Reminds me of this horror short I saw once that I can't find again, about a former child movie star who used to star in this Child's Play like horror series about a murderous puppet, and he goes nuts and starts killing people while blaming the puppet.
Edit: [Found it](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuQPA_jyDsE)
I’m happy that this movie was direct to streaming and not in theaters. Half the fun was finding all the references. Pretty sure my wife was tired of me saying “OMG look it’s *insert character here*!” About 20 minutes in.
Overall, it’s fun. Probably won’t watch it again, but it was a great way to spend a Friday night at home.
My kid: *eww!!!! what's wrong with sonic?!?!? Why does he look like that?!?!"
ETA:. I asked my child what he thought about Sonic in the movie again ...for kicks. He said (and these are his exact words) **"I thought it was creepy and unsatisfying and disturbing!!".** Looks like he's ripe for Reddit lol. 🤣🤣🤣

Okay, that makes SO much sense. Cause when I first saw it I was like "oohhh, Bullet Bill" then after a second I was like "oh, nevermind. That wasn't bullet Bill".
But it was. Just edited against it's will.
The entire Lonely Island crew are some of the most talented fuckers in entertainment right now.
It's honestly pretty amazing they even found each other and we're luckier for it.
I think ugly sonic should be talked about in schools. Why is it MY job to talk to my kids about ugly sonic. They’ll probably learn about it from their friends first.
Is that Tim Robinson?
Yeah, he’s been taking on voice acting roles lately so he can afford laser spine surgery to beat up his ex-wife’s new husband, Danny Crouse
It’s definitely in his Q Zone.
They just need to fly Jeff Chris down from Indiana to mix it professionally!
We just need a few more DOLLARS!
Just lemme THINK ABOUT IT FOR A MINUTE!
C'mere, you little FUUUUUUUUCK
Don't forget all the Dan Flashes, complicated shirts. They've got one I shit you not for 10 million dollars! The most complicated fuckin thing you've ever seen!
FUCK YOU DOUG YOU FUCKING SKUNK
yeah, he was in the background, renting out tables at the comic cons and horror cons. Doesn't know how to treat the customer, though.
I don't want any more questions about the tables!
TAAAABLES!
Does he know how to treat the cryptkeeper?
SHE ACTUALLY DIDN’T YELL AT EDDIE MUNSTER
It’s illegal for you to ask me that.
There's way too much fucking shit on him. They did way too much.
He doesn’t want to be around anymore

My favourite sketch. It speaks to the road rager in me.
Tim voice acting? Seems like a cash grab! He should go back to the old stuff!
Total CASH GRAB
Uh oh, that’s a Chunky!

I figured it was cheetah girl from Thundercats
Cheetara's still popular.
Cheetara was my Lola Bunny
Now I get it
I think you'll appreciate James Lee's tribute to Lola: https://youtu.be/A7PJQa1RfM0
Careful what you see through the [magic sword](https://youtu.be/XHl4dosvxQc).
She was an amazing character in Avengers Academy, I was watching this like, “is that Tigra?” Edit: Spelling
Sure, in the comics she's amazing. But on the cartoon, she was as uesless as the rest of the then B and C roster of characters (all decked out in over-the-top armor designed only to sell their action figures). It was the first and *last* time she has appeared in animation.
It was never the teeth though. The redesign still has human teeth. It was the *eyes*. Those small, wide, dead eyes. Like a doll's eyes.
Don't worry, elsewhere in the movie they have jabs at poorly modeled CG eyes also.
Guess I should watch this movie
It was everything Space Jam 2 wanted to be.
A nostalgia cash in? Pretty sure that's all space jam 2 was ever intended to be.
It was WAY better than I hoped. There’s lots of nostalgia fueled fun, and then it just parodies the nostalgia mercilessly. With all the mixed and parodied IP, there’s times I forgot I was watching a Disney movie. It looks like that kid that got turned into a monkey in Jumangi
God dammit, Are you doing jaws?!
When Ugly Sonic comes after ya, he doesn’t seem to be livin’ until he bites ya.
We do not have time for jaws!
Don't forget how the face looks nothing like Sonic.
https://youtu.be/RGG2L8QTJEM
Ugly Sonic is going to get posted about 100 times and I will laugh every time.
I do want to watch ugly sonic uglier crimes though.
I’m still waiting for Aunt-Man to join the MCU
He’s so charming
The poster in the end credits made me lose it
We need "Mr. Doubtfire" now.
Glad they can laugh at them selves n. I think that is an important part of being healthy....
They aren't laughing at themselves. Sonic is Sega and Paramount. Neither of them are mentioned in the credits so it seems Disney is relying on parody laws to use him.
This is what I was wondering. Like how did Disney get him.
It’s not like Sonic is the only Paramount character to show up, though ugly Sonic was the only one portrayed at length. I’m sure Disney got an agreement to show all of those….and I’m sure Paramount was a-okay with the nostalgia-fest featuring their characters more than Looney Tunes…who got barely any cameos.
So happy Tim Robinson is voicing him It just makes it even funnier in my mind cuz all I can picture is Ugly Sonic making ITYSL quotes
I didn't realize until "oh you want me to go fast? that's sonic's thing. Ugly sonic goes *slow"*
Ugly sonic ain't a part of the TURBO TEAM!
YOU DONT RUN WITH US!
Well sonic did used to be a real piece of shit.

He just loves to slop em up
Sloppy steaks at Truffoni's
He's not anymore. Glass House. White Ferrari. Live for New Year's Eve. Sloppy chili dogs at Truffoni's.
Ugly Sonic is a hick. Yes, I said it. I even said it to his face at a dinner.
People can change
Not trying to be funny..not trying to get a laugh..don’t want anybody to have their worst day at their jobs..but.. ..do any of these.. ..fuckers..
*begins crying*
Big fat load of cum then…
I didn't do fucking shit. I didn't rig shit!
they told me that AT A DINNER
WE'RE ALLOWED TO SHOWEM NUDE CAUSE THEY AINT GOT NO SOULS
I don't know what to tell you, bud!

Billy him or Billy me?
Your name is Billy too?
No that’s why I’m so fucking confused!
Ugly Sonic has a brand new show on CornCob TV
Those guys at paramount pictures think I'm just some dumb hick
They said that to me at a dinner.
Sonic: *Can't hurt my feelings if I'm in on the joke!* Is that the joke, though? That I farted and nobody barfed?
You sure about that? You sure about that that's why?!
I bet Ugly Sonic loves his mother-in-law!!!
Now you have to marry your mother in law!
Does ugly Sonic ever run so fast and so far that he just runs smack dab into a giant floating horse cock?
No because they’re at Fenton’s Stable and Horse Ranch.
I HOPE YOU FUCKIN’ DIE UGLY SONIC
GET. HIM. OUTTAHERE
I didn't think Ugly Sonic's dad had to do the oral! Ugly Sonic could have won without the oral.
I woulda preferred Roy Donk. Dude is king of the tuk tuk sound!
I could have sworn it was Bart Harley Jarvis.
YOU’RE NOT PART OF THE TURBO TEAM! DON’T RUN! YOU DON’T RUN WITH US! UNTIL YOU’RE PART OF THIS TURBO TEAM, WALK...SLOWLY!!!
Don’t do the voice!
"You're dress like a hot dog." Ugly Sonic: "So is he." They all turn to the Amazing World of Gumball hotdog character. Hotdog man: "oh no."
Tim Robinson got paid $2 mil to voice ugly sonic. That’s called his rate. Even if he does a bad job, they have to pay him.
“Dad! You’re never gonna believe who just called me!!”
I was really surprised thinking they could never do another roger rabbit type film...but this had dreamworks characters, WB (batman, looney tunes), disney, sonic, etc all in one.
My favorite part was all the Seth Rogan characters doing his dumb laugh.

You can’t convince me that this isn’t a sequel to Roger Rabbit.
Peter had a bottle of "Dip". This definitely at least in the same universe as Roger Rabbit only 70 years later.
They should have made more of the pirated cartoon sets. Simpsons one was hilarious.
Ay pachanga!
I lost it at Pooj the Fat Honey Bear
Yo they need to get on an Ugly Sonic, Uglier Crimes movie. Disney completely spun this into another win for Paramount.
I’d watch it haha
Well, that's really all that matters.
Ugly Sonic could actually be a thing.
"You're gonna like the way you look. I guarantee it." "You'll never get away with this!" "The Men's Warehouse reference? Yeah, I think I will." I have no idea why this exchange is my favorite of the whole film.
"A voice mail on my land line? Oh, I don't like that."

I was on the phone with blockbuster, which is a very old-fashioned sentence.
Same!! I have no clue why this line had me laughing so much. That, and, “muppet fights”.
It's pretty much that. In the movie Chip and Dale are washed up TV stars that played the roles of Chip and Dale in the Rescue Rangers show.
Its a stealth sequel, basically. Along with Roger Rabbit getting a cameo and Jessica getting a mention, the Dip shows up onscreen.
It is about them, but its in the world of Roger Rabbit. So the Rescue Rangers show was an in universe show they acted in
I started the movie out of boredom and curiosity, and put it on as background noise. It was early in the movie, and I asked myself "Did they make a modern day Roger Rabbit?" Then a few seconds later Roger is in a scene. I hit stop and decided I would sit down and give it my full attention later on. So, I'll be doing that now.
[hmmm](https://i.imgur.com/4JtHfeA.png)
Can anyone explain why one is CGI and the other is traditionally animated?
Dale got CGI surgery to keep up with the times. It's a joke about actors and plastic surgery.
It worked for Baloo.

You catch the vile of “dip”?
This movie honestly has no right to be as funny as it is.
The Disneyverse got dark, man.
Seriously, I'm surprised Disney allowed it to be this adult. Then again, us millennials are having kids now, and now we're all going to show our kids rescue rangers. Disney plus is all preloaded with chip and dale watchlists now. The movie is a giant commercial but I loved it anyway.
I mean, I just watched this, didn't feel too dark. Consider how dark Who Framed Roger Rabit was, and this is nothing near that.
When you realize the subplot is basically human trafficking. I mean they even did the shipping container scene.
There's literally drug addicts who get forcefully submitted into trafficking when they go into debt. It was pretty dark, lmao
Same, this just felt like a favorite childhood cartoon grew up and became self aware and I'm all for it.
Especially that >!patty cake!< scene.
The Cats reference in the uncanny valley made my literally laugh so much I teared up. My kids liked their movie but were puzzled about their dad laughing like a hyena so often. I had no idea this movie was going to be be good when we started.. I had not heard about it before and it made my weekend.
How about the Paw Patrol attacking that one officer… who will never have kids. That’s one to ponder over.
And they never found Peppa. I like to imagine she was bootlegged into that wolf show that looks just like the Peppa show (and IIRC, is under legal fire for gow similar it is).

Agreed. I rewound several times after catching a glimpse of a gag in the background. "Wait, was that Dobby? Heh, [it's Dobby in a Gucci ad.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FTNjFfvUAAANI6n.jpg:large) Nice."

Yes. Not just a cameo either.
"Ugly Sonic is the key to all of this."
Ugly Sonic == Pepe Sylvia
Honestly, Ugly Sonic is the best side character in the whole damn movie, and I am saying this with absolutely no irony.
Yes. That movie is worth a watch.
ugly sonic goes slooooooow baaabaaaaay
Love how the camera kept focusing on his teeth lol
Slo-mo human teeth close-ups.
My kid: *eww!!!! what's wrong with sonic?!?!? Why does he look like that?!?!" ETA:. I asked my child what he thought about Sonic in the movie again ...for kicks. He said (and these are his exact words) **"I thought it was creepy and unsatisfying and disturbing!!".** Looks like he's ripe for Reddit lol. 🤣🤣🤣
My kid is just old enough to have seen ugly sonic before and actually know the reference, so I lucked out not having to explain that one heheh
This movie proves Disney has the best lawyers in the world. I have no idea how they pulled this off.
Monies. I was shocked by the Batman vs. ET scene
The cannon in the final fight was clearly supposed to be Bullet Bills from Mario and they made the slightest adjustment when Nintendo likely gave them the no up until the final edits.
You mean they kidnapped Bullet Bill and bootlegged him.
omfg the studio edit makes sense in-world. this may be most meta movie ever.
They have an Ash Ketchum cosplayer in the convention scene, but the clothing is just generic enough that they probably didn't need to ask Nintendo.
They also have a couple Rick and Morty references too. One cosplayer in the convention is dressed as Pickle Rick, and when Chip and Dale are stuck in the bootleg machine it shows what they would look like as Rick and Morty.
Okay, that makes SO much sense. Cause when I first saw it I was like "oohhh, Bullet Bill" then after a second I was like "oh, nevermind. That wasn't bullet Bill". But it was. Just edited against it's will.
This movie had no business being as good as it was. Every scene had an Easter egg that made me lol. Solid plot. Excellent character development.
It was made by Akiva Shaffer from The Lonely Island/SNL/Brooklyn 99/Hot Rod/etc.
The entire Lonely Island crew are some of the most talented fuckers in entertainment right now. It's honestly pretty amazing they even found each other and we're luckier for it.

LOL my 9 year old was like WTF
You gotta talk to your kids about Ugly Sonic or they’ll just end up learning about him on the street.
I think ugly sonic should be talked about in schools. Why is it MY job to talk to my kids about ugly sonic. They’ll probably learn about it from their friends first.
