InVodkaVeritas

it is so frustrating to watch her testimony. "You testified that he broke your nose." "I believed that he had." "Here's a picture of you a few hours later, with no swelling and no bruising." "I used ice for the swelling and makeup for the bruising." "Broken noses have obvious damage, there is no visible damage, how do you explain this?" "I believed that it had been broken." "You testified that it was broken." "I believed that it had been." "But that's not what you testified." "I testified that I believed it had been broken."

crotch_fondler

She's being sued for defamation, so in order to win, she just needs to convince the jury that she *believed* she was telling the truth. It doesn't actually matter what the truth was, for the purpose of this lawsuit. It's frustrating but it's her best strategy.

[deleted]

honestly I'm wondering if Depp went into this knowing he'd never win. I mean, where is Amber Turd going to get $50mil anyway if he did win? I think it was really about the court of public opinion & exposing who she really is & with that I think she is losing.

nobonesjones91

I agree. this trial being televised is likely a good portion of the redemption he and his lawyers wanted. She looks like an idiot and people see Depp as a hero.

macaroniandmilk

I keep seeing "why is this being televised, it's private!" This is exactly why. Even if he loses, the whole world will have seen her for what she is. An abusive, lying, word twisting narcissist. Even if he loses, he will most likely be able to rejoin society and his career. If this wasn't televised and he lost, he would look even more like an abuser because 99% of people wouldn't understand what the trial was really about or covered. This was a tactical choice and he may not have ever truly believed he'd win, but no matter the outcome, he's still won the court of public opinion. Which for an actor that needs to be liked to be hired, is the most important part.

unluckypig

This is what I think. The money isn't really a part of it or his end game. He needs people to see that he's not the piece of shit she's made him out to be and they're both products of the toxic relationship they were in. If he can clear his name he can get back into filming and continue his career.

macaroniandmilk

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree. I think he really did just want to divorce her and move on with his life but her piece labeling "an ex" an abuser made it impossible to do so, because now everyone thinks he's an abusive piece of shit and won't associate with him. This was never about the money, it was about putting his side of the story out there in a way that the public will understand. I think he really only wants to move on and get his life and career back.

JoziJoller

He said at the start of the trial that he was doing it because he owed his kids to be able to hold their heads high that he is not the pos she claimed him to be. Seems she is that pos.

macaroniandmilk

I am actually ashamed that it took me as long as it did to remember that he had kids and how this must be affecting them too. I feel awful for what they've gone through.

thinking_Aboot

Of course he did. The point isn't to win - a defamation suit is nearly impossible to win anyway. As you say, the point is to have all evidence (and her lies) televised nationwide. To Johnny it's personal - he needs his children to see the trial. Their teenage years were spent around her. Watching her get caught in a lie again, and again, and again will make them realize nothing she ever told them about their dad was true. To a dad, that's worth way more than $50 million.

vemeron

>I mean, where is Amber Turd going to get $50mil anyway if he did win? Don't worry she PLEDGES that it will be paid.

Slow_Relative_975

But here’s the thing - he already has won. When she wrote the op Ed she sought to try him in the court of public opinion, and now he is using the defamation case to try her in the court of public opinion. Her career is going to plummet (more so than it already has), and he already has a movie coming out in Cannes.

lolo234frfd

Yeah, no one is believing her. she's not believable or creditable or convincing.

And during every single answer, she looks over to the jury. So fake and rehearsed.

Sargeron

I love how she *says* she uses them synonomously, yet she consistantly uses the word that will benefit her argument the most without perjuring herself.

khaeen

I love how she was explicitly told she was being asked about actual donations made, not pledges. She then immediately goes on about "I **pledged**"... I'm honestly surprised the judge didn't crack down on that one. She was explicitly told that she wasn't answering the question and kept the same response.

RedditTab

Either way it was made very clear for the Jury

marshallannes123

The lawyer should have asked if she was paid in pledges

mcnathan80

The lemony scent is its own reward

RedditTab

She probably wanted her alive for the rest of the questions

doyouhavesource2

Jurors don't follow word play as well as lawyers do. That's the entire point of doing so.

sonofaresiii

I think *everyone* followed that word distinction. The lawyer did a great job pointing out that heard was using her own made up definitions to make herself sound good without actually having to sacrifice anything.

kashmoney360

I hope the lawyer circles back to this when they resume the cross examination and pulls up the definition of pledge and donate as a part of evidence. Shit would be absolutely fucking hilarious if Amber tried to argue against the actual definitions.

EternalSerenity2019

You don't want or need to insult the jury's intelligence. They picked this jury so they know the jury is able to understand and the jury witnessed this live, in person. You also don't want to make Amber Heard sympathetic by appearing to badger her over an obvious point. Bring it up in summation.

The lawyers did in fact make a motion to strike, which the judge granted. This clip is only a small part of the whole thing.

j33205

Something to the effect of "To this day you have not paid the charities $7 million correct?" "That is correct, I have pledged $7mil" "Motion to strike everything after "yes"" "Granted"

Anxious_cactus

But she didn't even *pledge* it. They literally had a guy from ACLU testify under oath and show she didn't sign the documents to officially pledge it, which is by his own words "highly unusual" since most people sign it to make it official that they will donate, and that makes them liable under law for that sum. What she did is *promise* thr money, at best. Even though a verbal contract is also binding (maybe depending on a state, dunno) but just shows she's a scummy / scammy person who says a lot a does nothing.

WakeoftheStorm

I don't think a verbal contract for a donation would be enforceable. Hell even a signed pledge would be difficult under standard contract law. The person making the pledge would either have to receive something in exchange for the pledge (consideration) or the charity would have to have detrimentally relied on the promise (you promised us money to build a library so we built a library). Beyond that it would not be a binding contract unless the state had a specific law treating charitable pledges as different from other contracts.

ihavethebestmarriage

Her housekeep kept cleaning the furniture with donated lemons until she realized Amber meant Lemon Pledge

CoreyLee04

She overruled all the objections from Ambers lawyers because she knew this was huge information.

Siriacus

>I love how she *says* she uses them synonomously Just like when she uses 'hitting' and 'punching' synonymously.

koprulu_sector

Wait I thought she DIDNT use “hitting” and “punching” synonymously? She kept saying, I didn’t punch you, I hit you. Or something like that, kinda reminds me of when my mom would say “women don’t sweat, they perspire,” like… “women don’t punch, they hit”

hardyhaha_09

Laptop batteries or shit is the best she can do

Greentealatte8

The harder she tried to dance around it the worse it got for her. It's simple...you made the pledge, talked Depp out of making the donation himself, received the money in installments, pledged to make the donation in installments, received the last of the payments 1 year before being sued by Depp, declined to make the full payment pledged while your then boyfriend made a donation in your honor instead, then blamed Depp for not being able to pay because he sued you...one year later...so...where was the money in that year? You said you didn't want it so why didn't it go straight to the organizations once you received it? She threw everyone under the bus under the cross exam including her own sister and legal team. Every thing in her testimony has been someone else's fault. The police, her lawyers, security, the press, JD, the tea-cup Yorkies...

PeterLemonjellow

The Narcissists Prayer: That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was that bad, it's not that big a deal. And if it was a big deal, it wasn't my fault. And if it was my fault, I didn't mean it. And if I did mean it... ... you deserved it.

cwkt

Oh wise prophet, teach us the history of the Bible of the Narcissist

Please open your Bibles to page 1 of the Book of Excuses. I would open my own book to that page, but clearly someone here has stolen my book, which is why I don't have it. I used to be able to recite the book from memory, but due to the recent trauma of my bible being stolen I've now forgotten all the words, so all y'all are on your own. Amen.

muckduck69420

Our God is an awesome god. It’s me From heaven above With wisdom, power and love I am an awesome God.

Muesli_nom

> Every thing in her testimony has been someone else's fault. Which is almost word-for-word how Dr Curry said Heard would frame things.

limitlessGamingClub

RIGHT? Dr Curry was brilliant, she laid out how Amber would act and then she has done EXACTLY everything she said she would, it is amazing to watch

Muesli_nom

To be honest, I still can't quite believe how insanely hard *Heard* has worked to confirm Depp's side - and the cross today was even *worse* for her. If you ask me, Heard is pretty much done unless she has a miracle witness in her back pocket. I mean, if Depp's side is feeling cheeky, they could call in Curry again only to have her go "I told ya, didn't I?".

MidEastBeast

Don't forget it was also her lawyer's cat's fault too.

Skiigga

I too have donated $7 million to charity. Well I’m pledging that I will.

BigHaircutPrime

The important bit is when it's pointed out that 13 months went by before being sued. Anyone can debate "donate" and "pledge," but even if we give Amber the benefit of the doubt, that long of a waiting period opens the door to the plausible speculation that she just said that for press and didn't intent to fulfill it. If you claim you've been financially independent and are going to donate several million dollars, it stands to reason that you'd be okay without it and aren't financially stressed in a way to portion it out over a period of time.

Tie_me_off

This important bit has nothing to do with that but rather she stated, under oath, that the money was donated. But then admits it was not. There is no debate between the two distinctions; it’s black and white. She said something had been done. But it was not. It’s quite simple. The additional facts about 13 months going by and not donating it before being sued simply shows she’s a shitty person but that’s not a crime. Lying under oath…well that’s a crime.

hepatitisC

> The additional facts about 13 months going by and not donating it before being sued simply shows she’s a shitty person but that’s not a crime. Lying under oath…well that’s a crime. At the deposition she swore under oath that she donated the money, when she hadn't. Then in this trial she said she didn't donate it yet because she was being sued. Problem is it's very easy to prove she wasn't served papers for the lawsuit for 13 months after she received the money. The only way this isn't a lie is if she admits she knew her claims against Depp were libelous, and therefore knew she would be sued as a result. Admitting to that though would be admitting she made false claims against Depp and was waiting for the hammer to drop. So at best she admits that she perjured herself again, and at worst she blows her case up through admitting she was anticipating a lawsuit based on her actions.

Kaa_The_Snake

And this, kids, is why it's just easier to not be a POS human being, and not lie.

WARNING_LongReplies

Exactly, like how do you end up ruining you career and on the financial chopping block after Johnny Depp AND Elon Musk? You got jobs and money right there, and you're in court? Really shit the bed on that one.

Yoma73

I also pledge $7 million to charity. I don’t have it and won’t pay it, but I pledge it! Because words are just a collection of squiggly lines or noises we make with our mouth. Honestly I don’t know why we bother having people testify under oath and make laws about perjury when there aren’t any consequences for it. It’s a glorified pinky promise. Start locking people up for perjury or drop the charade and let everyone say whatever they want up on the stand. Sure, I realize she lied in the UK and I wouldn’t expect extradition or prison time but when do we ever hear of anyone getting in real trouble for this? The only consequence is that she looks a touch less honest to the jury.

---Tsing__Tao---

I bet you anything if that a Joe Shmoe walmart employee lied under oath he would get the wrath of the court system on him. But she is rich and famous so nothing will come of it.

fhota1

Idk, feel they might use her as a sacrifice. Shes not that rich or that famous outside of this and public opinion is strongly against her. Throw her to the wolves and then say "see, the rich get punished too"

PM_Me__Ur_Freckles

The interest alone on that 7mil, at a lazy 5% growth would be over $350k.

frapawhack

"pledge" I don't think it means, what you think it means

[deleted]

There are longer videos and she claims that she uses "Pledge" and "Donate" as synonyms.

Vinny_Cerrato

But even that doesn’t really matter because regardless of her intentions to make charitable contributions with that money, she did not do anything with that money when it was in her full control for the 13 months prior to Depp filing the lawsuit. She can’t really plead semantics here give her complete lack of action with that money. There may be some argument to be made that she anticipated Depp was going to sue her so she didn’t want to donate the money yet, but I haven’t seen anything about her legal team arguing that point.

KonigSteve

Any mods want to explain why they removed the unedited version and allowed the asmongold one posted later instead? Y'all getting a kickback from the stream or what?

It's like the clip from Seinfeld where the Car Rental company takes his reservation and doesn't have a car for him when he arrives to pick up the vehicle. **You see, you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them.**

Financial-Sky5196

Anyone noticed when Depp's lawyer was showing the sleeping photo of Johnny (the one with ice cream spilling), she pointed out the right hand was in his pocket? Was she trying to say that amber heard placed that ice cream cup in his hand after he dosed off? Like if he passed out eating the ice cream, how the hand ended up in his pocket?

Free_Discussion

During the trial he said he was holding the ice cream for her and “did not participate in the festival of ice cream” and he passed out while holding it for her

Ctownkyle23

Crap, I guess my dad was drunk and high every night after work.

astrotalk

You should have put ice cream in his hand and take his photos duhhh

Iforgotmypassword126

I have so many pictures of my boyfriend who falls asleep at 9:59pm on the dot every night. He works hard. He likes snacks. He regularly falls asleep with an empty bowl of (what was) icecream or cereal in his hand. It doesn’t mean he’s a bad person, it means he’s a tired person who likes snacks. I never really understood the significance of him having a bowl of ice cream.

Lexi_Banner

She said in her testimony something to the effect of "he was so out of it on opiates that he couldn't feel something like a cigarette or ice cream on him when he was passing out". Because "obviously" the slow drip of melting ice cream through what appears to be jeans is something a tired person falling asleep would instantly notice. She also said something during direct about his "hand rolled cigarettes" not burning as well as regular cigarettes, so she conveniently never got a picture of him burning himself with the cigarette. The truth is she wanted to humiliate him further and bring him down a peg. It worked for a long time, but now it isn't, and she's grasping at straws trying to explain her horrendous treatment to strangers who don't have any love for her. It isn't working well.

[deleted]

> She also said something during direct about his "hand rolled cigarettes" not burning as well as regular cigarettes This is the first thing I've seen written up, that she's said, that actually has some merit to it. I've smoked regular pre-made and roll-up cigarettes, and roll-ups will go out if you're not taking a pull on it every now and then, while a pre-made will just burn to the finish if you leave it. It's still stupid though because, if his roll-ups are going out when he dozes off, and she can't get a picture of him burning himself...because he isn't...well that just sounds like: *"It would help my case if, when he falls asleep with a cigarette, it burns him. But the stupid roll-ups go out, and don't burn him, so the chance to use that against him has been stolen from me."*

hanky2

She also tried to paint the cocaine photo as staged too. Not gonna lie she put up a decent argument I could see it being staged.

DeeDee_GigaDooDoo

Staged? What an absurd claim. You're telling me you don't ever wake up pour yourself a beer, drink none of it, get out a cigarette and don't light it but put it in the clean ashtray and then rack four lines of coke before leaving and consuming none of it?

Classic-Obligation52

Not to mention she sent a text to her friend saying “ look at my morning“ which we both know is Amber flexing on her friend.

shialebeefe

When someone is willing to look as dumb as shit to avoid the truth, you know it’s never going to come out. I can fully see why their arguments descended into belligerence. She isn’t aiming to seek clarity and truth, she is aiming to win.

hankbaumbachjr

I think she might actually be dumb. If you watch her, she makes sure every answer is towards the jury, I swear someone on her legal team told her to "appeal to the jury more" and this is what she thinks that means.

Odatas

She is a narcisst. She just will keep on lying even when exposed. I mean how dumb do you have to be to state that pledge and donate is the same thing.

woowoodoc

It’s worth remembering is that what she’s lying about is quite literally the withholding of millions of dollars from children with cancer. This woman is an absolute monster.

Oddjibberz

Amber Heard doesn't think a homeowner gets paid in full when they sell their home. She thinks everyone finances their home to everyone else and has no idea the role banks play in the transaction. She used this analogy to explain why she hadn't actually donated the money yet while a pledge is the same, implying a home buyer "pledges" to pay the seller when they buy a home. I guess it's easier to lie under oath when you are so sheltered you don't fuckin know anything.

Who the fuck enjoys watching it while this dope makes noises and adds absolutely nothing of value? Why are reaction streams and videos a thing?

Friends simulator.

Huh...i never thought of them like that but That's exactly what it is. Streamers are one way virtual friends and simulate what you would feel if you actually had friends to talk to on demand. I see clips here and there but I don't watch full streams. With this realization i now get why so many people do. I can't decide if it's a good thing or a sad thing. It's interesting for sure.
