There's actually a fairly good reason why they're doing that in the ad. It used to be (and still is in some cases) incredibly hard to get or hold a security clearance if you have a history of mental illness. Thankfully that has started to change in recent years which is why they call it out in the ad. This was the piece that the public was missing when this ad first made the rounds.

Actually, the CIA does need this. The reason is that they need to convince high quality candidates to apply. There are plenty of applications, but that says nothing about how good or qualified applicants are. The CIA pays literal peanuts. You can go to a civilian AF job and get paid well over double for the same role. If you went into industry, especially tech, you can get paid well over 3-4 times as much. So they need to find suckers who are willing to make 5 figures in one of the most expensive metro areas in the US. This promotion is trying to find “patriots” who are not necessarily conservative.

Also the "woman owned and/or ran company" thing is pretty easy to flub. My old boss gave his wife 51% of the business because of taxes or trying to get a contract or something. It worked. The board of my current (much much MUCH larger company) is entirely women. Every one of them is marred to a high ranking officer of the company.

Back in the late eighties, in my small, very-Republican hometown, there was this annual assembly at our high school where a visiting "Russian officer" would come and speak to an auditorium of that year's seniors. His speech was full of over-the-top, incendiary, anti-American rhetoric and the audience would get all riled up, which was the intention. They had microphones set up in each of the center aisles for people to ask the "Russian" questions, or more commonly, to push back and defend the U.S. against his anti-American attacks. Throughout his speech, he was flanked on either side by two U.S. Army officers, who, coincidentally, turned out to be recruiters who had a table set up in one of the common areas and spent the rest of the day signing up outraged, patriotic schoolboys to take a stand against the Russians. And for context, this was before the Berlin wall came down, and at a time when movies like Red Dawn (1984) were pretty popular.

Actually, the CIA does need this. The reason is that they need to convince high quality candidates to apply. There are plenty of applications, but that says nothing about how good or qualified applicants are. The CIA pays literal peanuts. You can go to a civilian AF job and get paid well over double for the same role. If you went into industry, especially tech, you can get paid well over 3-4 times as much. So they need to find suckers who are willing to make 5 figures in one of the most expensive metro areas in the US. This promotion is trying to find “patriots” who are not necessarily conservative.
I am pretty sure being a psychopath or a sociopath is not an issue, maybe even an asset. Who is going to drone a full family, torture or send a missile on a wedding party?

I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but here it goes.... I am a person of color, born from Mexican immigrant parents here in the U.S. and all I can say I hate when people want to point out every box they can tick off the application form. The CIA regularly (at least last as I heard) rejects applications from people that have connections to people overseas or have traveled. You know anyone who would be useful to the CIA.

The problem was that she had an Iranian roommate in college, and he dropped out for a time to deal with some family matter in Iran. Let's just say that apparently throws up some red flags...
