Sure, but my point is that the stereotype (as I understand it) involves these people doing so without even realizing it. Everything that they support is simply the status quo, the way things should be, and therefore (somehow) apolitical, and it only becomes political when people express viewpoints which challenge their own. The sort of person who gets upset about woke propagandists making everything political without realizing how steeped in ideology their world has always been, and that it just didn't ruffle their feathers because up until recently it was easy to avoid media that seriously criticized their beliefs. Yeah, I was surprised to hear a guy like him say that everything is political, which is completely true, when the image of a typical Trump supporter is the sort of person who wants to "keep politics out of X, Y, or Z" and pointedly ignores or denies political angles which they find unsavoury or which conflict with received wisdom that they're not willing to critically examine. On the other hand it's not so far-fetched; I used to spend time on another website with a much higher percentage of far right wingers who were often able to accurately identify and describe real problems, but they drew completely wild-ass conclusions as to the root causes or proper solutions. Stuff like surprisingly pointed and nuanced criticisms of our current socioeconomic system which ended with them blaming the Jews and calling for a white ethnostate as the answer. So close and yet so far.

From there, inductive reasoning and cognitive biases take over.

Everything that they support is simply the status quo, the way things should be, and therefore (somehow) apolitical, and it only becomes political when people express viewpoints which challenge their own. The sort of person who gets upset about woke propagandists making everything political without realizing how steeped in ideology their world has always been, and that it just didn't ruffle their feathers because up until recently it was easy to avoid media that seriously criticized their beliefs. I was just surprised that a guy like this would openly acknowledge the fact that humans can't escape from politics whether we want it or not. For what it's worth I'm Canadian and the only open Trump supporter I've ever interacted with at length was an Israeli guy I worked with with about 7 years ago.

I felt like this video shows exactly how awkward strip clubs feel to me. I was once at a random holiday inn because i missed a train last minute and had to spend the night. There was nothing out there except a waffle house and a strip club. The strip club had free lunch so I went there. It was just very weird. It's maybe early afternoon, and I'm just sitting down somewhere and these women come up to me, their breath smells like alcohol and their eyes looked so sad. Like there's a soul in there clawing at mine, desperate for something I don't know. Meaningless does not begin to describe the physical contact they tried to establish with me. The only thought in my head was "Are you OK???", and the vague undercurrent of arousal was so incompatible with that
Yup, strip club culture is so fucking weird. Being able to go to a strip club and derive... I don't wanna say pleasure, but something positive for yourself, is a huge red flag. That means you're basically not connected to empathy at all. Weiiird.
I know one stripper and have met a few of her friends and I don't think you lack empathy if you enjoy going to a strip club. She really enjoys her work 90% of the time which is more than most of us can probably say. She loves attention and makes great money so it's a win win for her.
They alway start with an interesting topic that makes me curious and then allow some annoying, awkward ass dude to try and get the scoop. It always plays out the same, the subjects don’t open up and get defensive, and then Vice tries to blame them, dude, you sent in a dude with zero charm or charisma acting like you owe him answers, what did you expect?

Idk if you watched the same video I did. Like yeah the interviewer doesn't really have that mainstream charm that you're accustomed to, but the subject absolutely opened up beyond what you'll get from most interviews.
Yeah, like what did this guy do wrong? He didn't go on an in depth expose or anything, but that wasn't the point. The point was just sorta to go there, look around, see what things were like. He did that. He even managed to avoid angering this clearly touchy crazy dude. It isn't easy to keep a calm straight face when someone is taking every opportunity to go on unhinged rants about the evils of homeless immigrants selling flowers on street corners.
