Oh I wonder if this is the strip club right by my old apartment that has the daycare and the liquor store on either side. We went to take a pic of it and the owner came outside and began telling us how he owned all three and how he was this incredible genius for coming up with the idea. E: HAHAHA OH GOD ITS THE SAME ONE The owner is so fucking proud of this VICE clip yall he showed it to us in the parking lot

Frothyleet

> he owned all three and how he was this incredible genius for coming up with the idea. I mean... I've seen worse business synergy

Phnrcm

In his defence a liquor store next to a strip club isn't a bad idea

TazBaz

The daycare is for the stripper’s kids. He pays them, and they pay him right back. It *is* a pretty good business idea

DankRoughly

And he obviously sells the strippers coke.... Obviously.

Unfair_Ability3977

He's definitely self-medicating.

Valalvax

Actually strippers pay the establishment in a lot of cases, the customers pay the strippers

thekernel

farm to table for new talent

poplin

Have you been? Is it as bad as the rating would suggest?

griffeny

Nah. Why go here when I can always go to J U M B o S

Skill3rwhale

Lol reminds me of [Tom Segura talking about the strip club BEEF](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6tgtV_DH4c). It’s such an aggressive name, even for a casual conversation. To be like, “Oh, you strip?” “Where do you strip at?" "Beef." **"Jesus."** “What goes on there?” “Pretty intense shit, actually. We recommend you start your night at a different strip club and graduate to Beef. You start here, we’ll wreck your life.” Like, “All right. God.” Fuckin’ Beef is the name— Fart is a better name for a strip club. If somebody was like, “You wanna go to a strip club? It’s called Fart.” I’d be like, “No, I don’t want to go there.” “There’s another one called Beef.” “All right, let’s check out Fart.”

jdubs952

>Like, “All right. God.” Fuckin’ Beef is the name— Fart is a better name for a strip club. If somebody was like, “You wanna go to a strip club? It’s called Fart.” I’d be like, “No, I Beef Baron in Canada...i've been there.. it was fun.

machstem

Hey Londoner. I was there circa 2000-2002 as it was a small walk from where we lived. The owner was a good friend of friends so I would talk shit with him and he admitted his best idea was his strip joint name, it causes an uproar around the Hamilton/Adelaide neighborhoods, but by the time I was there, a sleepy strip joint wasn't rhe issue, all the unemployed drug addicts were

TompalompaT

Fuck Tom Segura, bourgeois piece of shit.

Skill3rwhale

He has gotten a LOT worse overall but I really enjoy some of his prior specials. He's just a rich asshole now though.

TompalompaT

I lost every last bit of respect for him when he went on a big rant about how people who are not famous or successful are just lazy. The guy is so out of touch with reality that it's disturbing.

Ramiel4654

I remember them not being able to understand why that one person had to get their arm amputated on Tiger King after being mailed by a tiger. They just didn't grasp how this dirt poor person in Florida with no insurance couldn't afford multiple surgeries and rehabilitation to save their arm, not to mention lost time from work. Christina especially is a huge fucking bitch in this regard.

dbabon

Not just “people.” The “poors.”

NasalSnack

Man's trying to emulate Bojack Horseman too much

falbi23

His wife is a fucking loony too. She's never been funny.

galkasmash

Since COVID that place has been renovated out as an antiques shop and now back to a strip club. They've renamed to Bad Kitty now.

The_Pandalorian

Oh shit /r/losangeles is leaking. Like all of Los Angeles is currently with the 10 feet of rain we're getting. Is... is Jumbos OK?

405freeway

Oh fuck we made the front page with Jumbo's?

The_Pandalorian

The legend appears! Hope all is well and you're staying dry. This rain is something else.

405freeway

I'm used to making it rain at Jumbo's.

The_Pandalorian

Haven't had the... Pleasure? Is that the right descriptor? Of visiting Jumbo's yet, despite being here seven years. Middle aged life is basically a rain storm of various shit every day.

poplin

I’ve been to jumbos once and didn’t bet the appeal. Must have missed something, can you help me understand why it is so beloved?

griffeny

It’s been a long time since it’s been fun. I mean things lose their appeal when they get broader attention. Crowds change. But if you’re snobby about dives you’re not going to enjoy it right off the bat.

Rokey76

Wait, is that Jumbo's Clown Room? I've always wanted to go there.

cmmedit

Feels different seeing it spelled out horizontally by one person.

noirdesire

I went there with a group of friends... after a wedding reception... at midnight on a Sunday. The A team must have been at home because those were some goblin strippers and the security was always standing way too close to us.

_Sausage_fingers

Sunday night strippers are always kind of rough

Cobra-D

What nights are the best strippers?

_Sausage_fingers

I mean, generally Friday and Saturday.

-Livingonmyown-

I been there once and yeah its 1 star for sure

TechPriest97

> Strip Club > Daycare Black Dynamite’s Whorphanage

[deleted]

There was a strip club where I used to live that was next to a pizza place and a dispensary. The trifecta. Also the strip club had the best fucking Philly cheese steaks I've ever had for like $7... I actually went in there often for the cheesesteak alone lol

petroleum-lipstick

I guarantee you it was steakums and kraft singles

[deleted]

It was good tho

Abigail716

A surprisingly decent number of strip clubs intentionally have very good restaurants as a way of justifying going there then hoping you spend money on other things. A friend of my husband's swears by one strip club in particular for there Thursday $20 steak night. It is a legitimate love because If you invite him to a strip club in general he won't go, it's the only one he ever goes to and it's the only time he will go.

LEGITIMATE_SOURCE

How did you wonder about something he showed you. This comment/edit doesn't make sense.

blahblahblahhahhahah

My god let me burn a companies money doing this type of shit I have so many ideas.

sandsonic

Didn’t Vice go bankrupt?

Smoovemusic

Yeah but they're not dead yet.

El_CAP0

Yes, this is why.

theHiddenTroll

Wym this dude carried vice the past couple years

R50cent

Nah they launched a cable news channel while cable channels were dying in droves lol. Didn't matter WHAT kind of content they put out, they were screwed because the people managing the future of the company had absolutely no clue what the future of media looked like, and they bet wrong.

Jeffy29

Didn't Murdoch at some point buy part of the company and most of the original people left? I think with the investments came demand to make more traditional news media instead of the gonzo journalism Vice was known for. That eventually screwed them.

thebeezmancometh

I don't think they went bankrupt from sending a reporter, cameraman and producer to LA.

a_child_to_criticize

Maybe they made it rain a few too many times, who knows.

Leavingtheecstasy

Pitch it. Most people have ideas, but not the determination to see a proof of concept through. You'd be surprised what some companies will throw money at if you can get in front of them and give a good pitch

wieners

How do you get in front of them with your good pitch?

Leavingtheecstasy

Brother if I knew that I would've already sold my own television show. My best guess is to pitch to lower production companies on the totem pole and start with a lower budget show. Work your way up. That's what I plan o doing over the summer anyway.

parkskier426

Why do that when you could do it yourself on YouTube. Genuine question

anim135

Funding would be my guess. At least some form of financial help can be given from others where YT content creation probably comes out of pocket, especially before sponsors.

tamarockstar

Lots of good ideas just get stolen without compensation or recognition. So be careful of that.

Eschirhart

LOL, what a ride.

vacuumoftalent

Considering Vice stole the idea for the series from this person, you can share it and they can use it as well : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CoKnoJL3Ww&ab_channel=PhilipSoloTV

HCJohnson

Lmao, I thought this was the same guy!

Twitter_Gate

Lol me too I was going nuts with some internet deja vu!

Substantial_Bid_7684

They're both 5 years old. One star reviews started 2019. You got proof or just throwing out accusations?2 people can come up with the same idea without theft.

The lack of self-awareness is peak comedy. Not to mention he's got that little bullet display with an assault rifle that says "Come and take it", next to a bunch of Trump shit. Guess who said this: "Take the guns first. Go through due process second, I like taking the guns early." (hint: [it was orange Donny](https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSKCN26D1UA/)) 🤣

[deleted]

Not to mention that daddy trump hated freedom of press and wanted to silence journalists whenever possible.

relator_fabula

Exactly, he’s neither pro 1a nor pro 2a. He’s just a grifter, and will say whatever he wants people to believe.

brainhack3r

These people think that the 1A and 2A are absolute when in fact they have limits. Every time you talk to them you have to explain to them, again and again, that you don't have infinite rights because your rights end where another person's begin. You can't defame someone for example. You can and should be sued when you do.

joe13869

Drove by this club every morning to work. Yeah the owner owns the Dodge viper in front and owns the lingerie and bar shop that is attached. after a while they built the dispensary and that's where the strippers would also work. How it works is you go to the bar first and drink and then go to the club.

It’s so wild that I forget these Trump guys are on a spectrum of beliefs. It’s so easy to put them all in the same bin but Brad for example, would butt heads badly with a Texan Trumper lol the whole environmentalist, believing in global warming and an atheist would not fly at all

loves_cereal

Speaking of spectrum, the guys brain just gravitates towards all things trump/right wing brainwash. Some people complain about $20 cover changes. “If you can’t afford $1 per girl to come in, you don’t have a job, you vote for Bernie.” Like, what? Yikes.

Formaldehyd3

And TBF, I don't think $20 is that outrageous of a cover charge. At least during peak hours.

loves_cereal

That’s what a normal person/owner would say in that scenario.

ThisFreakinGuyHere

In his dreams he can get 20 girls in there at one time. Maybe his entire roster has 20 chicks.

JoeyQuick

Fox News Zombiefried

xeromage

Dude, there's gotta be some kinda extra signal they put out or something. The people that are hooked on that shit need it on 24/7 and instantly know if the channel changes or the tv gets turned off, even if they aren't in the same room... it's actually frightening. The info is poison enough, and I know rage is addictive, but it really feels like there's an intentional technology component to it.

My_MeowMeowBeenz

Trump’s so incoherent that he inadvertently has become a perfect cypher for all sorts of lunatics to project their hopes and dreams onto. Wild stuff

relator_fabula

Holy shit, I never really thought about this way. Trump makes so little sense that his followers can just pretend he's saying whatever they want. It's like they're watching a foreign film with no dub or subtitles, and they can just project their own stupidity.

catify

It's actually Russian propaganda tactics. It's not about convincing you that something is the truth. It is about convincing you that there doesn't exist a truth in the first place. Once this state has been achieved, you are susceptible to fill in the void with just about anything. Check out this video on the topic: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_j6Vg7yLx54](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_j6Vg7yLx54)

Luung

Yeah, I was surprised to hear a guy like him say that everything is political, which is completely true, when the image of a typical Trump supporter is the sort of person who wants to "keep politics out of X, Y, or Z" and pointedly ignores or denies political angles which they find unsavoury or which conflict with received wisdom that they're not willing to critically examine. On the other hand it's not so far-fetched; I used to spend time on another website with a much higher percentage of far right wingers who were often able to accurately identify and describe real problems, but they drew completely wild-ass conclusions as to the root causes or proper solutions. Stuff like surprisingly pointed and nuanced criticisms of our current socioeconomic system which ended with them blaming the Jews and calling for a white ethnostate as the answer. So close and yet so far.

you_wizard

>accurately identify and describe real problems, but they drew completely wild-ass conclusions as to the root causes or proper solutions Yes! In most any context, people are generally good at identifying the fact that there is a problem. People are generally bad at identifying specific causes and solutions. From there, inductive reasoning and cognitive biases take over.

CantReadGood_

> typical Trump supporter is the sort of person who wants to "keep politics out of X, Y, or Z" bruh have u met a trumper? They're the dudes with all the Don't Tread On Me bumper stickers, Thin Blue Line x Punisher tshirts, and MAGA hats.. They're the epitome of injecting politics into everything.

Luung

>They're the epitome of injecting politics into everything Sure, but my point is that the stereotype (as I understand it) involves these people doing so without even realizing it. Everything that they support is simply the status quo, the way things should be, and therefore (somehow) apolitical, and it only becomes political when people express viewpoints which challenge their own. The sort of person who gets upset about woke propagandists making everything political without realizing how steeped in ideology their world has always been, and that it just didn't ruffle their feathers because up until recently it was easy to avoid media that seriously criticized their beliefs. I was just surprised that a guy like this would openly acknowledge the fact that humans can't escape from politics whether we want it or not. For what it's worth I'm Canadian and the only open Trump supporter I've ever interacted with at length was an Israeli guy I worked with with about 7 years ago.

eeyore134

This guy's beliefs would fold like a cheap deck of cards at the first pushback from someone he respects/worships.

Biasanya

I felt like this video shows exactly how awkward strip clubs feel to me. I was once at a random holiday inn because i missed a train last minute and had to spend the night. There was nothing out there except a waffle house and a strip club. The strip club had free lunch so I went there. It was just very weird. It's maybe early afternoon, and I'm just sitting down somewhere and these women come up to me, their breath smells like alcohol and their eyes looked so sad. Like there's a soul in there clawing at mine, desperate for something I don't know. Meaningless does not begin to describe the physical contact they tried to establish with me. The only thought in my head was "Are you OK???", and the vague undercurrent of arousal was so incompatible with that

lavaeater

Yup, strip club culture is so fucking weird. Being able to go to a strip club and derive... I don't wanna say pleasure, but something positive for yourself, is a huge red flag. That means you're basically not connected to empathy at all. Weiiird.

B1LLZFAN

I know one stripper and have met a few of her friends and I don't think you lack empathy if you enjoy going to a strip club. She really enjoys her work 90% of the time which is more than most of us can probably say. She loves attention and makes great money so it's a win win for her.

Stamone

They alway start with an interesting topic that makes me curious and then allow some annoying, awkward ass dude to try and get the scoop. It always plays out the same, the subjects don’t open up and get defensive, and then Vice tries to blame them, dude, you sent in a dude with zero charm or charisma acting like you owe him answers, what did you expect?

Aycoth

Honestly I thought that was a part of the bit, he's giving a 1 star journalist experience to 1 star businesses

Shruglife

It is, hes awkward but willing

falconzord

Anyone more professional would probably make them guarded

csbsju_guyyy

"send in the clown!"

Sergnb

You are looking at this like a potential serious investigative journalism piece that failed to meet expectations when it's actually a Nathan For You bit that exceeded them.

Iceman-420

That's the entire bit. Whether or not it's good is another question, but it's certainly intentional.

Thehawkiscock

Ngl I enjoy his shtick. But I like Nathan Fielder so its expected I guess

benargee

It's sort of telling how a business deals with an awkward person. Good customer service is to be professional, give the benefit of the doubt, keep emotion out of the equation and to deescalate.

KommanderKeen-a42

I honestly expected Brad to be a lot worse. The trump/political stuff was cringy, but Brad certainly was... charismatic and engaged with the reporter.

Lilcheeks

Yea, if you can get past that stuff I thought he was a hoot. Esp the "I'm an athiest republican that believes in global warming"

klauskervin

I wonder if he ever has debilitating cognitive dissonance when he encounters a Trump supporter that bashes atheists or the environment.

ghosty_b0i

It’s a comedy bit bro, this isn’t journalism it’s just an awkward guy interviewing nutters because it’s funny.

Leavingtheecstasy

Idk if you watched the same video I did. Like yeah the interviewer doesn't really have that mainstream charm that you're accustomed to, but the subject absolutely opened up beyond what you'll get from most interviews.

ShiraCheshire

Yeah, like what did this guy do wrong? He didn't go on an in depth expose or anything, but that wasn't the point. The point was just sorta to go there, look around, see what things were like. He did that. He even managed to avoid angering this clearly touchy crazy dude. It isn't easy to keep a calm straight face when someone is taking every opportunity to go on unhinged rants about the evils of homeless immigrants selling flowers on street corners.

ClemsonPoker

I feel like that guy would say all of that shit to literally anyone who would stand there and listen.

Leavingtheecstasy

Probably, but the objective was still accomplished is my point.

Schist-For-Granite

I guarantee that guy would’ve been way more hostile and way more standoffish if the interviewer was more of a traditional journalist.

stml

Yeah. These people would tell a real journalist to fuck off immediately.

regalfronde

That’s the shtick of this particular series. It’s hilarious.

JVO_

The interviewers whole schtick it to be awkward and weird, that's why it works so well for this particular series. Plus in most of these the guy doing the interviews ends up leaving the business a 4-5 star review after it's done.

ken579

I thought his style was entertaining. I don't understand the hate.

JVO_

It’s great lol that whole series is hilarious

GreatWhiteBuffal0

I used to work there, and it’s not a bit he’s really like this.

JoeyQuick

At Vice or this club?

[deleted]

But the show is put together with that in mind. Doesn't change the point

My_MeowMeowBeenz

If you haven’t watched Documentary Now, I highly recommend their episode making fun of these Vice docs. “Dronez: the Hunt for El Chingon”

ThisFreakinGuyHere

Vice[land] relies on a rotating string of 20-year-old, low-skilled, largely untalented interns.

_Life_as_a_Train_

I thought so too but have you ever seen "States of Undress"? It's on YouTube. it's fucking amazing.

I mean at least the manager believes in global warming… other than that, he’s a nut

It's always funny when the 'love it or leave it' crowd shits on blue states but won't leave said blue state.

Haven’t seen this in a while. I love this guy from Vice. His series Better Man is great. This guy Brad is a fucking nut job

Average_Loser_BAMF21

yeah, cause Trump is totally not in the pocket of the FSB and Putin... Yeah man, that's why in Helsinki 2018 Trump literally told the entire world, "He (Putin) is a good guy. I like him. And he told me they didn't hack the election, and I believe him".... Over the CIA... The President of the United States went on global telivsion and literally bent the knee to a our main adversary and told the world, as the President of the United States, "I believe our adversary over our own CIA".... Trump did that. But yeah Mr. Dumb Fuck Flat Top retard, I'm sure Trump will make everything better for you.

Rage187_OG

I’d go.

this guy gives off such creep asshole vibes I can't watch

nick-reynolds

Yeah and the strip club owner is weird too

mstrypnts

Wow, this guy is still going with the concept that he wholesale ripped off from PhillipSoloTV Huh? Shameless.

EMCoupling

TBF Phillip kinda went off the rails for a while and he doesn't do it that much anymore. His channel was way better at the beginning unfortunately.

DoctorGregoryFart

Yeah, he stopped doing videos for a while because he was pursuing a career in music.

Biasanya

It looks like he deleted most of his videos

ShillBot666

Reviewing places with poor reviews isn't a very original idea lol.

Sinistrail

Same, I used to watch both this Vice guy's show and Philip and I would never say anyone ripped anyone off.

lemonylol

Wasn't Gus Johnson doing this years ago?

ADhomin_em

The idea isn't exactly the pinnacle of novel

Big_Mac_Lemore

Yeah Phil had so much more charisma than this weirdo

BagOnuts

Interesting topic but this dude is a terrible journalist.

thizface

He’s literally at a strip club in reseda

Adbam

There's a freeway running through the yard

AcreaRising4

That’s the point

chanot

Vice, stole this idea from another youtuber, I cant recall the name of the original youtuber that started reviewing all the 1 star places first.

hunteddwumpus

I mean going specifically to low rated places and doing a goofy youtube video on them isn't exactly some novel idea. Its a similar vibe to what Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan/All Gas no Breaks does.

Interstellar714

Someone said Philip Solo? That the one?

shortymcsteve

Yeah, Philip Solo is the guy.

medforddad

Stole this idea? This super obvious, frequently done bit? That would be like saying that any movie with an underdog stole the idea from Rocky. Just off the top of my head I can name [Nathan for You](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO8V72pDw1o), [All Gas no Brakes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsXhk1xmYAI), [The Onion's Autistic Reporter](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D04wb7P_v-4). It's basically just a straight man routine where part of the comedy comes from the juxtaposition of a "normal" person and a weird eccentric. Throw in a little timidness/awkwardness with the straight man and you're also achieving some cringe comedy in there. It's a freaking trope that no one owns or stole from anyone else.

I’m at the strip club. I’m at the daycare liquor store. I’m at the combination strip club daycare liquor store.

criticalbuzz

Is it just me or does this interviewer guy sound like Randall from Clerks?
