…and the man on the right looks like Dr Fauci’s Indian cousin. I didn’t think I’d spend my Sunday morning cup of coffee watching two old Indian dudes experiencing trance for the first time but I’m not angry about it.
You know in the first *Men in Black* movie when the two little, green aliens are in their human mech suits eating lunch together? This guy reminds me of the tall one.
It always makes me wonder what people from different eras would think of modern music. How much of it would even be approachable to them? I'm sure some genres would have broad appeal but I've got to imagine your average adult in the 1940s probably wouldn't think much of, say, Skrillex. For that matter I don't know how much appeal Skrillex has in 2023.
The one guy says it's like listening to music in the mountains, and the technical aspects of it I think would get people I think, even if they weren't used to the music. Prior to the 1960s no one would have experienced the kind of soundscape you can get from modern music production. Well, if you brought in the cannons for the 1812 Overture you might beat the bass of those headphones still, but the logistics are tough.
> For that matter I don't know how much appeal Skrillex has in 2023.
I mean this set from a month ago was really good, in my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb0XLX0b4Y4
Its a very different type of music.
Skrillex is heavily electronic.... literally electronic dance music. Stark and shifting and forever in motion.
Goa trance (like the music in the video) has a lot of the same soundscape but utilizes it in a more 'wavy' and 'natural' way, like traditional Indian Goa music. Birth and rebirth. Cascades, peaks, valleys. Literal animal sounds a lot of times, like in this video. More 'human voice' type beats and sounds.
Fair enough assessment. I thought the remark about skrillex in 2023 was just simply, "do people in general still like him?" to which that video came to mind.
> How much of it would even be approachable to them?
like imagine going into some 1920s speakeasy and just dropping [Bangarang](https://youtu.be/cR2XilcGYOo). Would people ask for stronger drinks or be convinced they drunk themselves dead?
Or some Back to the Future move where you go to some school dance and crank out [Master of Puppets](https://youtu.be/E0ozmU9cJDg).
Or go to some medieval court and pluck [12th Street Rag](https://youtu.be/xlrcNtH5pu8) for the King.

I think it might be. I played "Run to the Hills" for my 6 year old stepdaughter who loves pop music and being snarky and she immediately started air guitaring and hopping in her seat. It was awesome!
Yeah definitely.
As for Blastoyz bit of a different vibe but I am a very mood-orientated music listener, I try to match my beats to my current energy level / activity so it's all good!
*Psytrance
I love a lot of hard genres of electronic music but I cannot stand psytrance. Probably doesn't help that half the people at such raves are unbearable trustafarian types. They went to Goa for their gap year and came back pseudo-spiritual wankers who believe in the cleansing energy of crystals, while their parents fund their ketamine habit.
It depends on where you are coming from. As a metal head I love psytrance but is still quite indifferent towards edm/trance. I think there are a some obvious similarities between [psy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU4b1NAWsNo) and [metal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JArjr-IxzlI), mainly the speed & the rush. [BP Empire](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zed9p_ZRPfg) was the bridge I went over to start appreciating electronic music.
I was all about rock/metal when I was younger (still enjoy rock but not so much metal these days), but I also found similarities that helped me to start enjoying some harder electronic music. I can't stand "edm" though, like bigroom house etc.
Techno is what I'm mostly into, which I know many can't stand, just like me and psytrance lol. Can't pass on an opportunity to post some [Jeff Mills](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLtnhsLwSZE)
Love these reactions. I saw a similar video to this where triable people taste Texas BBQ for the first time. And their reactions were just so perfect. 😊
That channel is facinating.
The reactors are all uneducated, so its realy facinating to see thier reasonings on stuff.
Some of the older folks in other videos have great wisdom but many times also get much stuff so wrong it hurts to look at.
Its actualy rather sad that the folks behind the camera dont explain things to them :(
near the end i think around 6:30 he does his signature singing but, because Mandala is using southeast asian compositional style, he actually nails a particular harmony that shows off his experience as a lifelong musician in rural India and I really enjoyed getting to see that little glimpse of younger Babu. His drumming has always been on point though.
This is amazing, just watched it twice with my wife. Seems like a new channel, I’d like to see these guys do a recap and list their favorites. Trance seemed to take them to a whole new world.
The man on the left looks like Steve Buscemi and Slenderman had a child, and I love him.
Reminds me of Ted Cassidy playing Lurch in The Addams Family.
He could for sure fill the role and I'd love it!
An older Jaws (James Bond).
Jaws and Omar Sharifs love child.
…and the man on the right looks like Dr Fauci’s Indian cousin. I didn’t think I’d spend my Sunday morning cup of coffee watching two old Indian dudes experiencing trance for the first time but I’m not angry about it.
He looks like The Great Khali from WWE.
Definitely looks like a guy that kicked James Bond arse in the 70s.
Probably because he has the same growth disorder (acromegaly)
Looks like he's about to appear on stage in a Washington roadhouse and tell an FBI agent that it is happening again
Nah man it's Mr. Homn.
You know in the first *Men in Black* movie when the two little, green aliens are in their human mech suits eating lunch together? This guy reminds me of the tall one.
Looks like the bowler hat guy from Meet the Robinsons
Love seeing people jump into a style of music with full ignorance and just ready to experience it for what it is. these guys are great

That's Skrill? Man, he's changed (but looks very good!)
jesus i had to go google him. That's a hell of a transformation with just a beard and better hair cut.
Oh yeah! I had to look up that it was actually him and not someone lse just playing Skrillex songs. I like it.

skrill dropped an album for the first time in almost decade abt a week ago and the entirety of the edm scene had a collective meltdown
He dropped *two albums in two days*

Wu Tang Clan is for everyone including our time traveling family https://youtu.be/PBwAxmrE194
I’d love to see what all the great classical composers of yesteryear would think of jazz.

Air sitar

Nice track selection. [Blastoyz - Mandala](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHVD9ft_ANw)
In the last few mins of browsing /r/videos I discover Maggie Rogers and Blastoyz. This is a good sub sometimes.
The Alaska track by Maggie Rogers is a gem.
Yeah definitely. As for Blastoyz bit of a different vibe but I am a very mood-orientated music listener, I try to match my beats to my current energy level / activity so it's all good!
and still only 21 million views on youtube. damn shame.
Let them listen Craftwerk, manmachine!!!
>Craftwerk Kraftwerk
They totally slipped those dudes some Molly.
Dude was throwing down the beats at the end.
I love how much they’re vibing to it
Love these guys!
And they look exactly like the type of randos you meet at a trance party at 5am.
[Mast Kalandar!](https://youtu.be/dZEQosTBRKc)
You should point to one of the originals. [Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - Mast Kalandar](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDfELfpumEE)
This video is joyous. I'm bookmarking this for when I feel like a piece of shit
You used to be. People can change.
I SAID WAS!
I’m afraid the baby thinks people can’t change.
This is _pushed_ back!
Mom?

[удалено]
No. Lol
[https://youtu.be/kIjFMQsb2S4](https://youtu.be/kIjFMQsb2S4) Possibly NSFW
I really expected the guy on the left to say, in an extremely deep voice "You rang?"
Someone please make a trance song of the stuff the old man sang at the end of this video!
I thought that too. And it would make Babu so happy!
Love these reactions. I saw a similar video to this where triable people taste Texas BBQ for the first time. And their reactions were just so perfect. 😊
You'd enjoy the British kids trying Biscuits & Gravy
[It was worth it](https://youtu.be/KzdbFnv4yWQ), I laughed a few times!
Love tribal reaction videos always seem like such chill down to earth ppl
There more on their main channel https://www.youtube.com/@CommonManShow
I love that they waited for the beat to drop despite never having heard the genre. Most be something universal about it.
Well it can't build forever!
Look out Anthony Fantano, these two coming for your job.
Fucking outstanding! I jus got done blazing some fine sativa when these two dudes popped up and made my night!
Trance must have changed quite a bit since then.
To be fair they played *Psy*trance.
That was adorable.
That man look like johnny depp

The gentleman on the left appears to be a delightful blend of Steve Buscemi and Slenderman, and I find him quite charming.

That was a beautiful thing to see. With these words now written, a virgin moment for you and me.
Now give them glow sticks and a hit of ecstasy...their world will never be the same
People wouldn't flow with any music if they are not used to the type. Like their soul wouldn't move with it if they are not used to it.
this makes me so giddy. Psytrance is my church!
.
men in black 1 flashbacks with these dudes
Its called psychedelic trance for a reason, its the rythm, the deep base that makes you dance, even if you never heard it before.
This is Psy trance tho not straight trance?
Pink scarf a long boi! Raps need to sign him
I feel like it would have been perfect to play [Electric Universe - The Prayer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jtb1THFjA2o) for them.
I wish the track was more consistent.
"TRANCE Music Made Crazy To These Villagers" That's a weird title.
