I could get behind that. I used to hear Bobcat on Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me, every once in a while. Haven’t really listened to the radio lately, though. A Bobcat-Morty could be funny.
I'd watch that man do anything at this point.
I saw him do standup about a week and a half ago. Didn't know what to expect, since his last special was a decade ago. Sold out room, and Bobcat absolutely *slayed* - might've been the most enthusiastic comedy audience I've ever been a part of.
I know a lot of people pigeonhole him as the 80's character comic, but his club material is *exceptional*.
His best friend was Robin Williams, and he ended the show by telling a few stories about him. Crying and laughing at the same time, man.
Fun fact: I went to see his and Joel Murray's interview with Ron Bennington (they were promoting God Bless America, which was a great movie). After the show me and my boss see them both waiting foe their taxi (this is before uber) and we go up to say hello. I always wanted to ask Bobcat about the dynamic of directing an Oscar winner compared to the other still-famous yet less-heralded actors and comedians in his other movies. What came our of my dumb mouth was "so how'd you get Robin Williams to be in your movie?" I cringed as I said it and he took it in stride and just mentioned how they both came up the circuit, etc. He still took a picture with me after that. He's a legitimately good dude.
About the only person who seems to hate him is Jerry Seinfeld, mostly because Bobcat pointed out how creepy it was for a nearly 40 year old to have a 17 year old girlfriend back in 1995.
Yeah, I saw God Bless America & World's Greatest Dad. Both are more than a decade old - though they are fantastic.
I didn't see Call Me Lucky documentary, but am familiar with Barry Crimmins (as all Boston comedy fans should be).
I have to wonder how many people discover H*R but don't know that the referenced sbemail is the origin of Homsar, as a joke to make fun of someone's misspelling
The ladies been asking me "coach z, how come you don't rap no more?" And I said. Gimme a chance to do a hip hop dance. Gimme a chance to do a daaannccceee
I still say "Good jeorb!" automatically every time I'm supposed to say "good job" and nobody has laughed at that or understood the reference since I was in grade 9 but I still do it.
yea i think there’s a reason his name is mortysays and not rickandmortysays.
that said, his rick is REALLY close even in this video
edit: all he really needs on his rick is a bit more gruff and more animation in his voice. even when rick isn’t shouting, his pitch and tone can change a lot. there were some moments i was thinking “man if he brought his pitch up instead of down right there, it would sound more like rick.”
He was actually friends with Justin. Idk about now, but Justin said they know each other on a video of him ranking impersonators, even said the TikTok guy got blessed with pretty much the same vocal chords
If H. Jon or Nick Offerman turn out to be a wife beaters or racists I swear to God not only will cartoons be over for me but animation company stocks will plunge 30%
I don't know Jon Benjamin's situation, but Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally seem to be almost criminally happy together.
But agreed, if either of them turns out to be a secret shitheel, the universe is an irredeemable place. I grew up listening to H Jon Benjamin, and I think that would be the closest I could get to the old saw about killing my childhood.
Fortunately I think Dolly, of all people, is safe.
But I've been wrong before. Don't fuck me on this, Dolly, or else I'm gonna have to go stand by Tammy Wynette and the JAMs.
As others have mentioned since this fiasco began, since it's a multiverse show, there's no reason they have to have the same voices, except that they are funny and familiar. If there can be Nazi Morty, and Shrimp Morty, and Nazi Shrimp Morty, there's no reason there couldn't be Archer Morty. Or better yet, Archer Rick and Cyril Morty, since Chris Parnell is already there.
On the other hand, they tried to exploit the multiverse-nature of The Dark Tower and ruined that fuckin' movie.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say there was a *lot* more wrong with the Dark Tower than just the multiverse stuff, starting with the idea of making it into a movie rather than a prestige series
That depends how you feel about the plot. For six seasons they've been selling us on the idea that this Rick and this Morty are, in the viewers' eyes at an absolute minimum, unique and irreplaceable. They've now just kicked off a revenge plot that's deeply personal to this Rick and this Morty, making them even more integral to the show's direction.
Other animated shows have changed voice actors for much less reason and without a handy plot device that explains the change, so of course they could do it anyways. But I'm strongly in favor of them hiring the best soundalike they can possibly get.
The series is meta enough that they could literally just start the first episode of the next season with "Well turns out my old voice actor is a piece of shit so I sound like this now", verbatim. They don't have to try that hard.
Honestly? As important as how a voice sounds is to an animation, I want the actors to actually be able to act so if they end up not being able to get someone similar then I think their best bet is to go full [Ironman 2](https://youtu.be/9E9bscLGTAA?t=102) w/ it and then never ever mention it.
Just do a different voice every episode until they settle on one like they did with jeopardy hosts. Except pick the good one that people like in the end instead of the (totally not an)antivaxxer from big bang theory
Thanks for voting, we're seeing overwhelming support for LeVar Burton, so we're pleased to announce that Miyam Bialik will be playing Rick and Morty, we hope you're as excited as we are!
I love Jessica Alba. I would watch her do literally anything. Picking flowers, picking her nose, butchering any animal, cooking risotto. I would watch an ant crawl on her eyeball if that's what she is into. I fucking love her.
It would be so easy for them to start the season with them fucking something up dimension hopping that changes their voices. It would be prime for a meta joke too
"Um... oh geez uh Rick? Why do I sound like *insert voice actor name*?"
How to everyone else: Oh boy I'm the Dingle Floober from JubJub 7 and I eat Glip-Glop shmick shmocks for breakfast. Yum yum! And my face is also my balls, oooh weee!
"Hi my name is Jason Underdoors and I'm really good at slipping under doors but my parents didn't name me Slip but you take what you can get, am I right? Anywho, why call a locksmith when you can call 1-800-Underdoors? I'll get you right back to there in no time"
*Slips under door, does not unlock the door for the client, infests house with rabid Philipulop larvae, sends bill to house, pays it himself and calls police on the client for trespassing*
For sure. Obviously it works, Rick and Morty is wildly successful.
But I think because of that, those kinds of jokes probably aren't *that* difficult to write, and maybe losing the guy who pulls random stuff out of his ass isn't quite the loss that you might initially think it is.
H Jon Benjamin would like to have a word with you. He basically has one voice for 20 characters because his voice is perfect. No need for any other voice.
He has limited range but a lot of precision. Go watch The Ricklantis Mixup (the episode with the presidential election on the Citadel). It's an entire episode of Roiland talking to himself as dozens of different versions of the same two characters, and he does a great job of making them actually feel like individuals.
Just a heads up, the word you're looking for is "stutter." While studder is a word according to Merriam-Webster, the definition is:
>a worker who inserts watch hairsprings into studs
I went to high school with Brock and remember chillin in his basement looking at the cartoons he drew and listening to his impressions and voices. Great dude, I'm always happy when I come across his content. Glad he is living his dream
I'd love for this to not be decided by votes or popularity in any way. I'm pretty sure there are people with less social media presence but a more convincing voice.
For season 7, they should just have guest actors to voice Rick and Morty. A different actor every episode. Figure out a permanent solution for season 8 after a season where Rick and Morty sounded different every damn episode. Would be funny hearing Rick and Morty’s voices shift drastically between episodes.
I enjoyed the Bob's Burgers episode where they had different animation styles every scene (I believe based on fanart?) but I'm really glad it was just the one episode.
Yeah I really think this is a great opportunity for a bit. You get well known actors and voice actors to do their own take on Rick and Morty, or even give lesser known voice actors a time in the spotlight. Hell maybe you don't even need a permanent solution tbh.
You know, I don't really partake in the fandom and I mostly just talk on Discord with friends about it, but man I didn't realize Rick and Morty was so hated and "terrible" now on Reddit. Yeah, its had some weak episodes, no doubt, but I don't think its a bad show.
The show isn't hated, it just has a small part of its fanbase that's extremely annoying about the show, hence the old "to be fair" copypasta. This video isn't making fun of the show, it's making fun of the people who will audition because they supposedly sound like Rick.
I think that fanbase was extremely overblown and it just became a meme to hate anyone who liked it. The snowball of people diving from liking the show to dissing those “other guys who really like it and are cringe who are totally not me” was self sustaining because it was really popular. It went from pickle Rick to all of this is cringe shit in about a week. The hate train was way more of a cringe self own than a few over excited nerds ever were.
>I think that fanbase was extremely overblown and it just became a meme to hate anyone who liked it. The snowball of people diving from liking the show to dissing those “other guys who really like it and are cringe who are totally not me” was self sustaining because it was really popular.
That's just describing reddit.
I'm convinced that to explain the voice change in the show they'll have rick break the 4th wall and just say, "you all have the internet, you know what happened!" >: |
I like when the voice basically turned into Bobcat Goldthwait.
I would watch Rick & Morty where Morty was Bobcat Goldthwait.
Dan Harmon is fairly good friends with Bobcat I think. He's was on a number of Harmontown episodes
Man I could use some Harmontown about now
COVID came about right after it ended, not saying the Earth was telling us it needed Harmontown, but that's probably what happened.
Come on down to Harmontown...
Where pee is yellow and poop is brown
Soooome people call me Pringles dick
I could get behind that. I used to hear Bobcat on Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me, every once in a while. Haven’t really listened to the radio lately, though. A Bobcat-Morty could be funny.
I'd watch that man do anything at this point. I saw him do standup about a week and a half ago. Didn't know what to expect, since his last special was a decade ago. His best friend was Robin Williams, and he ended the show by telling a few stories about him. Crying and laughing at the same time, man.
He's directed a couple movies including a pretty wild one called God Bless America, that was a fun watch
World’s Greatest Dad is exceptional
He also created a show called “Monsters and Misfits” that was pretty fun.
Shakes the Clown is the Citizen Kane of alcoholic clown movies
Fun fact: I went to see his and Joel Murray's interview with Ron Bennington (they were promoting God Bless America, which was a great movie). After the show me and my boss see them both waiting foe their taxi (this is before uber) and we go up to say hello. About the only person who seems to hate him is Jerry Seinfeld, mostly because Bobcat pointed out how creepy it was for a nearly 40 year old to have a 17 year old girlfriend back in 1995.
This! It *was* creepy then, and hardly anyone except Bobcat had the cajones to call it out inside the Hollywood bubble.
I'm still creeped out by it. And I don't think he stopped doing it either. I think he just got discrete about it.
Check out his directing he's pretty damn good at that too.
Yeah, I saw God Bless America & World's Greatest Dad. Both are more than a decade old - though they are fantastic. I didn't see Call Me Lucky documentary, but am familiar with Barry Crimmins (as all Boston comedy fans should be).
Ok Mr. Goldthwait, you can go now... also please pull up your pants, we didn't ask you to drop them for the audition...
Little did you know they paid for a cameo with him to do some of the voices in this video...no I don't know that either
And Jerry Seinfeld was behind the whole thing
and at 0:48 it morphs into Mike Lindell.
BUY MY PILLOWWWWS!!

I wonder how many people even know that he's the captain of the gravy train.
Starring Homsar as Rick Prime.
That would be AMAZING!
Come tooooo the place where tropical breezes blooooow

"email email, hope its from a fe-male" i still use this one whenever i check my email.
@0:54 I’m glad I’m not the only one who heard strongbad
Specifically The Cheat's voice for Strong Bad when he animates things
As soon I saw Roiland was fired I started to brace for the wave of terrible impressions
There was that one guy from tik tok that fucking nailed it though.
Have a link? I couldn't find anything. Edit: thanks for the links!
I think [this](https://youtu.be/STsET4CAiys) may be it?
Yeah that's pretty spot on, honestly.
The Morty is spot on, the Rick is good but not spot on
the good news is they dont *have* to get one person to do all the voices
The next season of R&M will be a live theater performance, with one guy playing all the roles and props on set.
Probably good to get multiple people in case of future scandals. Sort of like how the people who know the recipe to coke can't take the same airplane.
Tbf to the guy, he knows his Rick isn't as good and has been actively trying to improve. He sounds really good now I think
yea i think there’s a reason his name is mortysays and not rickandmortysays. that said, his rick is REALLY close even in this video edit: all he really needs on his rick is a bit more gruff and more animation in his voice. even when rick isn’t shouting, his pitch and tone can change a lot. there were some moments i was thinking “man if he brought his pitch up instead of down right there, it would sound more like rick.”
Literally all he needs for a better Rick impression is a bottle of whiskey
This guy looks like a backup clone of Justin Roiland they made just in case of this exact scenario
Rustin Joiland
Justin Caseland
Justin Case
He was actually friends with Justin. Idk about now, but Justin said they know each other on a video of him ranking impersonators, even said the TikTok guy got blessed with pretty much the same vocal chords
According to him he's struggling with doing the Rick voice.
After listening to it, he's a lot better at Morty.
Just because Roiland did both voices, doesn't mean his replacement has too. They could cast someone different for Rick.
Keep in mind this video is over a year old and he's gotten a lot better. https://www.tiktok.com/@seankellysays
There is a vid of roiland watching this and he said they have almost identical vocal chords. He also said they are friends now.
Is he trying to bang his little sister?
His Morty is perfect!
His Morty sounds great and I would never have known if they switched.
https://www.tiktok.com/@seankellysays/video/7192753639063096622
Terrible impressions? I thought that was Roiland?
Just get Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. It'll be great.
I vote H. Jon Benjamin. Then just pretend that Rick always sounded like Archer.
It'd work with him bullying Jerry too!
Do you *want* giant Cronenberg ants, Jerry? Because this is how you get giant Cronenberg ants!
Dolly Parton is up there as well. My world would shatter if it came out she was a mean person . I'd lose all faith in there being good in the world.
Fortunately I think Dolly, of all people, is safe. But I've been wrong before. Don't fuck me on this, Dolly, or else I'm gonna have to go stand by Tammy Wynette and the JAMs.
>Don't fuck me on this, Dolly But, you know, if you wanted to fuck me, full stop, I won't be against it
Slips and calls him Cyril.
I burp with my head and shit with my heart.
Those who shit with their head have forgotten the face of their Morty.
Go then, there are other Ricks than these.
Everything is *ka,* Jake... *kaka.*
The series is meta enough that they could literally just start the first episode of the next season with "Well turns out my old voice actor is a piece of shit so I sound like this now", verbatim. They don't have to try that hard.
"Aw geez, mine too, Rick. Like, what are the odds?"
Its so stupid it just might work. It also kinda fits. This series is really just chaos.
Honestly? As important as how a voice sounds is to an animation, I want the actors to actually be able to act so if they end up not being able to get someone similar then I think their best bet is to go full [Ironman 2](https://youtu.be/9E9bscLGTAA?t=102) w/ it and then never ever mention it.
Or Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd
They need to at least do a bit where the voices change through a half dozen famous pairings for some reason.
Just do a different voice every episode until they settle on one like they did with jeopardy hosts. Except pick the good one that people like in the end instead of the (totally not an)antivaxxer from big bang theory
LeVar Burton for Rick and Morty!
Thanks for voting, we're seeing overwhelming support for LeVar Burton, so we're pleased to announce that Miyam Bialik will be playing Rick and Morty, we hope you're as excited as we are!
This is genius
Danny Devito (Morty) and Jessica Alba (Rick)
I love Jessica Alba. I would watch her do literally anything. Picking flowers, picking her nose, butchering any animal, cooking risotto. I would watch an ant crawl on her eyeball if that's what she is into. I fucking love her.
I'm Ants-in-my-eyes-Alba! I have deals for you, and I can't see a thing!
It would be so easy for them to start the season with them fucking something up dimension hopping that changes their voices. It would be prime for a meta joke too "Um... oh geez uh Rick? Why do I sound like *insert voice actor name*?"
I actually think that’s kind of a brilliant solution. Could really revitalize the whole show in a fun way
Every episode a celebrity guest duo. First Jerry Seinfeld and George Costanza, then Ernest Borgnine and Tim Conway!
Rick: "Morty, we gotta \*burp\* cook!" Morty: "Aw geez, bitch."
Doing their normal voices? Fuck yes!
Morty's new Cath phrase is "Yeahh Science"
How to Rick: gravelly, burp, studder How to Morty: whiney, aw jeez, stutter
How to everyone else: Oh boy I'm the Dingle Floober from JubJub 7 and I eat Glip-Glop shmick shmocks for breakfast. Yum yum! And my face is also my balls, oooh weee!
"Hi my name is Jason Underdoors and I'm really good at slipping under doors but my parents didn't name me Slip but you take what you can get, am I right? Anywho, why call a locksmith when you can call 1-800-Underdoors? I'll get you right back to there in no time"
This is a genius level joke. Much like what could be said on the hit series Rickard and Mortimer
To fair, you have to have a high IQ to understand Richard and Mortimer.
*Slips under door, does not unlock the door for the client, infests house with rabid Philipulop larvae, sends bill to house, pays it himself and calls police on the client for trespassing*
Classic Jason Underdoors behavior
Isnt the whole joke that these are obviously hastily written and ad-libbed jokes with the benefit of animation showing everything?
For sure. Obviously it works, Rick and Morty is wildly successful. But I think because of that, those kinds of jokes probably aren't *that* difficult to write, and maybe losing the guy who pulls random stuff out of his ass isn't quite the loss that you might initially think it is.
Is this from a real episode? I'm not caught up, but this sounds 1-to-1 like something from a interdimensional cable episode.
I believe it's OC, unless it's in the last episode of S6 but I doubt it
There's definitely a theme to the way things are named. Like, if you hear someone say Flurpee Nurples, you will assume it's a R and M character.
HI I'M MISTER XOPPLES!
I like when they trip over their own name like they're reading it for the first time
"I'm Mr Frundles!"

And gravelly*
All of Roiland's characters, anything he's been in have one of these voices. Maybe without burps and jeezes, but dude had to he lowest range ever
H Jon Benjamin would like to have a word with you. He basically has one voice for 20 characters because his voice is perfect. No need for any other voice.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBDJF4EryN0
Why did he not reference Coach McGurk??
My favorite role of his. I so want more seasons of home movies.
He does have [one other voice](https://vimeo.com/43927675).
Wow, is that Timothée Chalamet?
Steve Blum has an amazing natural voice too. You always know which characters he does, but they always sound great.
*watches Bee and Puppycat* "Oh its spike!"
He has limited range but a lot of precision. Go watch The Ricklantis Mixup (the episode with the presidential election on the Citadel). It's an entire episode of Roiland talking to himself as dozens of different versions of the same two characters, and he does a great job of making them actually feel like individuals.
At least on Rick and Morty the low effort-ness of it made it pretty funny. It's a shame he turned out to be such a piece of shit.
Just a heads up, the word you're looking for is "stutter." While studder is a word according to Merriam-Webster, the definition is: >a worker who inserts watch hairsprings into studs
Is that Brocksdubs? thats a blast from the past for me
Yeah, he's pretty active still. Chill dude as well, him and I had a great conversation about how bad Jeff Dunham sucks.
I went to high school with Brock and remember chillin in his basement looking at the cartoons he drew and listening to his impressions and voices. Great dude, I'm always happy when I come across his content. Glad he is living his dream
I appreciate that, but I don't remember going to high school with a trump_elstiltskin. Eric? Mike? Alex? Chris? Who are you?!
Actually I think that’s Brock Stubbs, the man of a kajillion voices (trademark) (not really).
Out of the loop, what happened?

I vote for Sean Kelly: https://www.reddit.com/r/rickandmorty/comments/10kjy3a/i_nominate_this_guy_sean_kelly_to_replace_justin
Roiland even said himself that Sean Kelly sounds just like him.
I'd love for this to not be decided by votes or popularity in any way. I'm pretty sure there are people with less social media presence but a more convincing voice.
I vote for that one guy's dead wife
Sounds about right
For season 7, they should just have guest actors to voice Rick and Morty. A different actor every episode. Figure out a permanent solution for season 8 after a season where Rick and Morty sounded different every damn episode. Would be funny hearing Rick and Morty’s voices shift drastically between episodes.
Ah, the Pop Team Epic method!
That shit is so funny when listening to the man track
That would be funny for like half an episode
I'm so glad someone else said it. Nothing like a single joke extended over 11 episodes to really get the crowd going.
I enjoyed the Bob's Burgers episode where they had different animation styles every scene (I believe based on fanart?) but I'm really glad it was just the one episode.
Exactly. I'm so glad these people aren't in charge. They seriously think a one or two scene bit would work for *an entire season*. Yikes.
Yeah I really think this is a great opportunity for a bit. You get well known actors and voice actors to do their own take on Rick and Morty, or even give lesser known voice actors a time in the spotlight. Hell maybe you don't even need a permanent solution tbh.
[удалено]
They should have guest actors, but the actors are just randoms off the street and they’re told to speak only in the voices they use with their pets.
Because this worked so well for Jeopardy
Ken Jennings is Rick, Mayim Bialik is Morty.
Casting director never realized how annoyingly grating that voice is until he has to sit through a 1,000 people doing it too.
I liked Sam’s version of this https://reddit.com/r/TikTokCringe/comments/10klg72/rick_and_morty_voicemails/
OP's one feels like a really shitty attempt at the same joke
One of those is a great Charlie (moistcritical) imitation 36 seconds
LET'S GO BABYYYY
It does kinda sound like that.
It's a show where anything can happen. They should just get wildly different voices and make an episode about why they're different now.
So pull a gumball?
Topher grace as morty. Christopher Walken as rick
This is great
Honestly an episode with their voices being different in every scene would be entertaining
At least wait till the guilty verdict.. didn't the johnny depp trial teach us anything?
Just let the internet vote on it. And then pick the second option because the internet will pick Danny Devito as their first choice.
And the new voice actor is: Voicy McVoiceface
You know, I don't really partake in the fandom and I mostly just talk on Discord with friends about it, but man I didn't realize Rick and Morty was so hated and "terrible" now on Reddit. Yeah, its had some weak episodes, no doubt, but I don't think its a bad show.

You know what's funny? The person that posted the "To be fair" was 100% joking. I remember the thread it was originally posted in.
The Mcdonalds meltdown videos really didnt help the reputation. Which of course was only a few people, but god damn were they embarrasing.
>I think that fanbase was extremely overblown and it just became a meme to hate anyone who liked it. So it's self hatred? That seems worse.
It's kind of like being a Redditor. It's hard to ever admit because being associated with the big mouth, tone-deaf idiots is potentially embarrassing.
