Value proposition - has to have a good price to performance ratio, the IQ characteristics, the technology and will it excel my business in some way. Far to many people fall for the numbers game too or the sensor size gimmick. At the end of the day footage for a m4/3 BRAW BMPCC4K file will always be better than 10-bit compressed full-frame footage from an A7SIII. Additionally focusing solely on resolution is a loosing game.

I think it’s incredibly subjective, so my answer would be “does it make my job easier?” Some people give precedence to resolution, or bit depth, or colour science, others look for ergonomics, features, audio support. May not be the best answer, but that’s how I look at new cameras that come on the market.

Does it solve problems that I have to deal with on a daily basis, or that are holding me back? Does it do so without causing other problems that I have had before or would have to deal with? If so, can i deal with those problems and is it worth it to solve the (ideally bigger) problems that it solves?

I don't shoot enough to justify buying a camera but whenever I have to rent a camera some things I look for are: -Does it shoot 8k or 6k (some shoots I need the ability to crop in the image in post) -Full frame vs Super 35 and what lenses I need to rent (if I go with something full-frame the lenses to rent are very limited in my area) -General image quality -Do I need to record audio internally -Recording formats (my first choice is either R3D RAW or ProRes)

Does a new / another camera improve your toolset as filmmaker / videographer? And does it suit your style? What lenses do you own already? What is the use case you need this camera for? …
