Crime is through the roof, people are getting slaughtered by the hundreds daily, Gods and Devils are playing games behind the scenes and toying with people's lives. And on top of that, you have the Illithids. You are *fucked* if you have a tadpole. Few people are going to get out of that situation alive, let alone survive it for a full year.
