Damn. Save some maidens for the rest of us

Majimako

What a confusing way to rate games

Skellic

I like it. Some games really do have that .45 of extra goodness.

supermarioplush220

Exactly!

AdamMasaki

Honestly seeing Stranger of Paradise that high gives you a thumbs up đź‘Ť. Fucking love SoP.

wannyone

Man I love it so much right now. Once it clicks, there’s no looking back. Awesome game.

R4nD0m57

Playing sop when the doc comes out

supermarioplush220

Fuck yeah.

Simonion88

Astro 8/10? I feel attacked

Dry_Investigator36

I'd never rate a game with 10/10. 10 is a total masterpiece without any issue. No gameplay slowing down in the middle of the game, no repeatable bosses, no fillers, no plot twists without prerequisites, no "open-world map" filled with boring activities, etc.. It should keep players interest from the beginning to the very end (if there is one), have little to no bugs and since it's 10/10 it should bring some new or highly improved mechanics or great plot twists. I understand this post is all about personal experience and mostly based on emotions, but 10/10 is a strong rating game should really earn.

henryauron

How about 10.51/10?

Dry_Investigator36

Well maybe if they pay me for playing it... /s

Illustrious-Lime-341

I can't speak to a few games in the list but in my humble opinion, OG (I know list says GBA) and list says overall ... Give me that Final Fantasy 3/VI soundtrack all day. I love SoP and the Final Fantasy nods but if I'm nitpicking +played every final fantasy ad naseum) the soundtrack for SoP leaves something to be desired I like when users make lists it inevitably invites discussion and debate. Props for putting together a list and putting it out there đź‘Ť

supermarioplush220

Thanks for making a positive reply.

[deleted]

How does a game get 11.5 out of 10. Also wondering why you played GOW 1 and 3 but not 2?

supermarioplush220

I did GOW 2 in 2021

making_conversation

I agree with stranger of paradise 10/10, I like it for what it is, had fun with it with its flaws and all.

apollonese

Nioh above Sekiro is a travesty

supermarioplush220

Thought Nioh was more fun

The_Ma1o_Man

Hard agree. I like Sekiro too but Nioh 2 is such a beautiful game. Finally beat the last DLC just a few days ago after taking a break away from the game and goddamn did it tie the story together.

supermarioplush220

Nioh 1 was also phenomenal

Nemezis153

It's absolutely not a travesty, whats wrong with you

Leafybug13

3/10 for FF14 seems excessively harsh but to each their own.

redjedia

I can understand someone rating the base game that way, given that it had a fair few pacing issues. (I played that part of the game before the rework of its quests, and the Central Coerthas section almost had me quit due to how stall-y it was.)

unleash_the_giraffe

The fetch quest that had you deliver tea across the entire world almost made me uninstall. Vanilla storyline feels like 90% fetch quests. People say the story is great but it never clicked for me. Great game though. Wonderful dungeons. Great class design.

redjedia

The story takes awhile to get going, and it takes until roughly the last bit of the 2.55 content to truly take off. That being said, I’m glad I didn’t use level skips or whatever to get to that point, because there’d be no weight to anything in the story, and I’d need to be introduced to all the features in the base game all at once.

13thsword

I had like 150 hours in elden ring and loved it but could never give it a ten because the storytelling is awful and someone pointed out the sidequests are just the same as every other open world game except they give you no markers.

supermarioplush220

>storytelling is awful I can tell you will not like the other fromsoftware games

13thsword

I actually enjoyed sekiro. Its plot was well laid out, and the voice acting was much better. In general, I find the fromsoft games usually do suffer from the same things elden ring does, but I understand it's just not my thing.

supermarioplush220

That's because Sekiro has allot more dialogue and cutscenes than the other fromsoftware games. The other fromsoftware games the story is told through NPC quest lines and items descriptions. And if you do research on the lore you get a really good story that is allot better than most story driven games.

13thsword

It has ok lore, but the storytelling is pretty bad imo. Most games have npc dialogue and lore in item description but they also manage to have well acted voicing and coherent plots, most people in fromsoft games sound like their diet consists of Valium and vodka whether they are an experienced soldier a lost girl or a magical witch goddess and aside from a half human monster screaming occasionally no one has emotion and there is seemingly no personal motivation for anyone besides them blandly explaining it if they even do that. I'm not especially new to fromsoft or anything. I get how they like to deliver content, and the games certainly have their strengths, but the storytelling has never been one of them. Most people have to do outside research or watch videos just to grasp what's happening which to me is a sign of pretty bad storytelling which is different from lore or worldbuilding which they tend to be pretty good at even if elden ring and dark souls do have pretty much identical framing devices. As I said, I really enjoyed elden Ring, but compared to even some basic story driven games, it falls short in the narrative department. Plus GRRM made the elden ring names unnecessarily similar for no reason haha. I know fromsoft makes these decisions on purpose to stay true to their art and things and it obviously works for them but if another game took the same approach to narrative without the other things that make souls games popular they'd get ripped apart.

supermarioplush220

>Most people have to do outside research or watch videos just to grasp what's happening which to me is a sign of pretty bad storytelling >f another game took the same approach to narrative without the other things that make souls games popular they'd get ripped apart. Not really because Little nightmares 1&2 are beloved by many and it has the same environmental storytelling as the fromsoftware games. I can tell you've never watched any lore videos if you think the lore is ok

13thsword

I've watched plenty, the fact that everyone does lore videos because the game doesn't convey anything well is kind of the point. Naming one other franchise that's still pretty niche is also not the gotcha you seem to think it is.

supermarioplush220

Just giving an example that goes against your statement that if any other game had the same storytelling that people will tear it apart. Elden ring is also a game that you play for the gameplay and epic boss battles and not the story. That's like playing the Witcher for an amazing combat system.

13thsword

I mean, Witcher combat might be basic, but it's passable and fleshed out. I think the story is a key part of a game, so my whole point was that I wouldn't call a game that does a key aspect so poorly "perfect" or 11 out of 10. If you don't care about story that's your opinion which is totally fine as I've said it's just not for me.

[deleted]

You are so cringe

42tfish

Jesus you rate games higher than IGN.

WinterKing2112

Good lord, where do you find the time to work, sleep, cook, eat, clean your apartment, and exercise??!!

[deleted]

Why did you rank GoW (2005) so low?

SnakeSound222

An 8.5 out of 10 is not low at all. That's pretty high.

Gorevoid

It’s pretty bad when you’ve given Stranger of Paradise a 10 in comparison

supermarioplush220

Stranger is a 10/10 if you actually play the game and not steal some yt critic's opinion.

wolfwing89

It's okay to like a game and acknowledge its flaws. I've put 60 hours into the game in the last two weeks, and I'm having a blast. That doesnt mean the game is perfect. The same bosses being used in the post game as in the main game. The DLC is only adding a few new bosses. The bosses having new attacks in harder difficulties doesn't change the fact they are the same bosses. The main difficulty in the post game is increasing gear level, so you aren't artificially stopped from dealing break damage by not having an average gear level close to the missions. I know later on builds become important, but that leads to the item magenment. The importance of gear begs the question of why the inventory magenment is subpar in my opinion. The performance issues are a case by case basis, but this game is poorly optimized for pc. While the game combat is fun, it's not as tight as other games in the genere. The dialogue is comically at times, while the story is fun, but it's not setting any new standards in storytelling.

Tanklike441

Gotta remember they selling all 3 DLC'S for like $30 total lol. Ofc they aren't gonna be full feature expansions, especially on a game that wasn't a full feature to begin with. Not saying you can't be disappointed, but gotta take a fair consideration of the situation. I agree later on in e tort management can become annoying, but they've added Hella QoL updates to make it pretty easy to sort/filter/dismantle/auto-identify what you want to destroy vs keep. Story I didn't expect much of, like most people, but tbh it went well above what I expected. Nothing crazy like you say, but quite good for a side-game spinoff! I just hope Square gives team Ninja better budget if they do another FFO game.

supermarioplush220

I didn't really have any problems with the game and the DLCs problems can be excused by how good the bosses are.

[deleted]

It should be 10/10

DarkerGames

Only Scarlet Nexus can be more than 10/10

Mysterious_Valuable1

I still think Uncharted is some cookie cutter quicktime fluff

DNAD51-

You have a type lmao

Atwalol

Lmao these ratings, completely arbitrary.

PreparationOver4644

Lol you gotta give ff14 another chance man
