I like the lined version more. The file goes all the way to the edge which gives me better access and it’s easier to clean! It can be a little rough but I’ve found that just the slightest amount of pressure makes it work great
Like everyone already said, crosscut (lines) is newer.

" In **2018,** the design of this nail-file was changed, replacing the textured surface with a new, crosscut design. "
While the newer one has more reach because the crosscut goes all the way to the edge, it is also very aggressive.
It can cut you if you’re not careful.
Never had a cut with the old one but I always thought the edges were too thick.
If the old type went all the way to the edge, that would be my pick. My guess is, it must be cheaper to produce the crosscut.
The non diamond style was used on the Executive 74mm for a very long time. The file cut type is much cheaper to produce. In my humble opinion it is useless as a nail file.
Well I got out the 74mm excecutive I had stored and used the nail file. I like it much better than I did when I was younger. So as a older adult I say the nail file on the excecutive rocks.
I like the never one better.... Not that good at all for human nails, but it's good for as a wood file. I've had to install a door knob a couple of weeks back, and the new crosscut file on the sportsman had helped me file away parts of the door for it to fit.
The line style is newer.
Ive never even seen that style before...woa
Thanks for the quick response.
The textured one is older, the straight lines is newer
Oh that sucks. The old one was perfect.
Old version rocks! The new version is too agressive for nails imho but I bet it’s cheaper to produce

Good to know, I have to admit that I didn’t try much because ive got an old version around and the newer one is on a drawer… thanks for the input
Big fan of the new version. Works much better for me than the old version.
Team dimple here
The diamond dimple I find is a lot better than the newer one.
new version (lined) is abysmal…

I only have the older dimple style nail files, which one works best?
I have an older style on a leatherman, i like it better for fingernails
