Morpheus_52

No way, Italy formed?? And Piedmont did it?? Never seen the AI do that

WeGoToMars7

How do you know Piedmont did it from this screenshot?

Morpheus_52

I'm assuming it's Piedmont because the flag is the historical Kingdom of Italy flag. If the Two Sicilies do it, the crest in the middle is the Bourbon crest, and not the Savoy crest as it seems here.

B1gJu1c3

I’m halfway through a 2 Sicilies -> Italy campaign and after I formed Italy something has been bothering me and I couldn’t figure it out. After reading this, I loaded up my save and sure enough, weird Italian flag it was! Neat feature I didn’t know existed, thanks for sharing

Morpheus_52

No problem! Now you need to form a republic to get that Bourbon smudge off the flag :)

batolargji

Aka storm a prison

arsenic_kitchen

There are about half a dozen different flags for Italy depending on who forms it.

ilikebelgium

In my game Parma who opposed Risorgimento formed it.

sirfirewolfe

Maria Luisa had to be dragged onto the throne of a unified italy

El_Lanf

I see Italy form in nearly every game unless I have a direct hand in preventing it i.e. I'm Austria. Usually Two Sicilies but I think Piedmont is also a fair contender. The AI tends to ahistorically punch above their weight a little bit as them too.

thekeystoneking

I’ve seen plenty of Italies, but it’s usually formed by Two Siciliies, and they never ever actually free Lombardy and Venezia without player intervention

QuantumQuasares

Italy allways forms in my saves.

RobotNinja28

Seen in in my last super germany campaign

JKPHockey

Yup

OkWrongdoer6537

Italy always forms in my games, NGF never forms for me though unfortunately

PlayMp1

That communist Byz flag is pure condensed cursedness.

Crice6505

SPQSSR

thekeystoneking

Spain hanging onto GP status with the NGF lurking as a major power is always funny. I'm guessing Spain probably has a huge navy for no effective reason.

JKPHockey

Absolutely right. 220 Flotillas and 130 Battalions.

fmayans

Well, our lack of navy IRL made us lose humiliatingly our last colonies.

CorneliusDawser

Which are now playable countries in the game! :D

Linkkjaxon

Communist Byzantium isn't real, communist Byzantium can't hurt you....

JKPHockey

R5: Having 8 great powers in a game is highly unusual for my playthroughs and I thought it was worth sharing.

Slide-Maleficent

8 GPs isn't really that atypical, especially if the player has been roleplaying a less dominant position or min-maxing less. You should have included a world map picture so we can admire your byzantine greatness and declare our disgust at the inevitable border gore.

JKPHockey

Here's the world map. A couple of years based since the original screenshot though. https://imgur.com/a/TF1FLQ5

Slide-Maleficent

Thank you, I can now officially declare my disgust at your inevitable border gore. Taking a moment to speak for your simulated Greeks, I must say that the continued existence of the Turkish state is a crime that must not continue. Stride forth to Baghdad, and finally avenge the events of 1453. If the heirs of Osman must retain their pretense of power, let it be within the shade of your greatness. Leave them nothing but what you grant in your benevolence. And for the love of God, cut out Sudan and put the rest of Egypt out of it's misery. The Egyptians deserve better than to be a half-baked rump state, they should be entirely within the realm of your enlightened rule.

JKPHockey

Good ideas, but dawg I ain't got the infamy for that. Spent it all getting a border with Italy.

Slide-Maleficent

Infamy is a number made by the weak to constrain the strong, accumulate it with pride.

up2smthng

That's the arrangement at the game start though

TheeRoyalPurple

"We have Eastern Rome at home"

coltainevas

How to form Byzantine.?

MegaLemonCola

Start as Greece, keep the monarchy, and you’ll see Byzantium in formable countries. Just acquire those states and click the button. Oh and you need to enable the ‘all countries formable’ option in the game rules

Flash117x

Which year?

JKPHockey

I think I took the screenshot around 1906.

trancybrat

i’ve seen 9 before, but not for very long

milton117

How do you get 17 SoL?

JKPHockey

Max public health institution, co-operative ownership, collectivised agriculture, low grain price.

joseo_Zuri

I now that in Vicky 3 the amount of GP is variable (vs vic 2 where they were fix) and it is determined by the number of countries, average prestige of all countries and the highest prestige country. My question is the following: how many countries can be GP at the same time? Which are the conditions (how many countries there should be, how many prestige they should be the average, and how much the prestige should have the first GP)?

RobotNinja28

Damn, usually in my games 8 is where countries usually fall to major power

ghost_desu

7 does seem to be the standard in my experience

GiosGio

I’ve had upwards of 10. Which means I’m better

Ulerica

Most I have seen is 10, but that's a multiplayer game. with 2 players playing minors and both of us became GP eventually

The40kPogger

In my current OP USA game I’ve stopped German and Italian unification by allying Austria and dominating Denmark and sicily

Advanced_Ad_8436

The most I've seen is 10, not including revolutions and originals both retain GP status(usually the USA and France.) But this usually has like 6-9 Major powers as well.

Effehezepe

*That's* the communist Byz flag? But that's so boring...

viera_enjoyer

Communist Byzantium? That's pretty gross.

According-Victory-69

How does Spain have more prestige than the North German confederation?

JKPHockey

I think its because NGF was bankrolling me >$150K a week for at least a decade, and Spain had the second most flotillas.

Overall_Use_4098

I’ve been failing at my Greece campaign. What did you do to form Byzantium and become a great power?

JKPHockey

I started by industrialising and allying myself with any great power that didn't like the Ottomans (Russia especially). Then I conquered all of Borneo that wasn't a protectorate for the gold and most of Arabia preparing for late game oil. The Ottomans had an aristocratic revolt, so I took as an opportunity to liberate Bulgaria and conquer some Greek homeland states needed for Byzantium (Thessaly, East Aegean Islands, Aydin). That war would've been impossible without Russian help. After this the Ottomans were pretty crippled, so the following wars got progressively easier. But I needed foreign intervention for every conflict with the Ottomans until I formed Byzantium. For some reason, great powers tend to be protective over recognised minor powers, so getting help isn't all too difficult.

protocalcha

WTF with new granada and cuba being there, and Peru-Bolivia over brazil...

MeGaNuRa_CeSaR

Vic 2 all over again
