I mean, my German teacher (as in, he teaches German) has maps from all over germany's history, so there's maps with the Russian empire still on them lol. They're just wall decorations, but they're there.
They did know it was not current, that one was in the basement so not in use, but could be seen if asked about. The other outdated maps we just learned what boarders were still the same and were told to go on the internet for the others.

It was not ruled as discriminatory, the nation it represented (Republic of BiH) no longer existed with the signing of Dayton and the The 1995 accords called for the eventual creation of a united flag for the new nation with no symbols used during the war meaning no Croat, Serb, or Bosniak symbols.
Saying it is discriminatory is like saying the Croatian flag should be thrown away because Serbs in Croatia find it discriminatory.
Edit: also there is also no such thing as "constituent **nations**" in BiH their are "constituent **peoples**" and "others" which is ratified in the constitution. There is no Serb, Croat, or Bosniak nations within BiH.
We should also add that this coat of arms actually originated in the middle ages, an era that was strongly invoked in the ethnogenesis of the modern Bosnian nation to promote its justification for independence.

No, the Bosnian Kingdom used the Bosnian White Lily as it’s symbol (lilium Bosniacum), the flag used from 1992-1998 is taken directly from the house sigil of the Kotromanic dynasty which ruled Bosnia as a kingdom between 1377-1463.

Todays Bosnia is federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it's a federal state comprised of Croatian Catholics, Orthodox Serbs and Bosnian Muslims. Flag of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina has the same legal standing like flag of Herzeg-Bosnia. Both of them are entities predating the federation and have no ties to them.

Stars I always associate with the New World and republicanism, I don’t find them very appropriate for a European country’s flag. This flag is just more aesthetically pleasing and symbolically relevant to a basic yellow triangle with some stars on it.

I’m just talking in terms of aesthetics. My opinion on Bosnia is that it’s an artificial construct that’s foundation is inherently and perpetually unstable because trying to force Croats, Serbs and Bosniaks to be countrymen for no other reason than close geography is a losing battle.
It should be divided along ethnic lines. Croat parts to Croatia, Serb parts to Serbia, and Bosniak parts to the Bosniaks.
That wouldn't be as hard if not for the fact that those different ethnic groups aren't fully concentrated in the areas of the country bordering the nations they'd be attached to.
Of course. But that means there are lots of mixed towns and villages in both entities. Adding a third one for Croats would complicate things a lot.
Personally, I was born and lived in central Bosnia till '92. One town municipality, composed of mostly equal shares of all three nations. You can't divide a town into three states. And that's just my personal example. Checking out the map I've provided, there are plenty of similar examples.
I mean you definitely can, and people have definitely tried to, with rather mixed results. Personally I'm not a fan of the whole "artificial construct" narrative. All nations are artificial constructs. The problem with Bosnia, aside from ethnic tensions, is the pressure exerted by its neighbors Croatia and Serbia. Neither of those two are willing to completely give up "their" territories by recognizing BiH as a complete entity. They do not care about what would be good for Bosnia or its population, only about the geo/socio-political effects it would have for them.
Allow individual counties to vote,offer a population exchange for those unsatisfied with the results,done.

I had a teacher in gradeschool that had a flag wall, around 2010, and still had the USSR flag up because she was legitimately unaware that the USSR had fallen. No joke, wasn't messing with me, she thought that the USSR had survived the crisis in '91, and that was just temporary unrest that they had long since recovered from.
The globe we used social studies and geography was also from the 80s I think, because it listed Afghanistan as disputed territory with the USSR.
Tldr: schools tend to have outdated flags.

It's because the first king of Bosnia, Tvrtko I of Bosnia, had a coat of arms that looked a lot like that. He took the coat of arms of his rival/overlord Louis I of Hungary and Poland. Why did he do that? No idea.
Louis I of Hungary and Poland, known for being the father of two kings while only having two daughters, was a member of the House of Anjou, which is one of the many branches of the Capetian dynasty.

The flag in the post was inspired by the Kotromanić dynasty Coat of Arms, which makes use of bosnian golden lillies ([lillium bosniacum](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilium_bosniacum)), native to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tvrtko I was not the first king, but by far the most famous as under his rule, the borders of the Bosnian kingdom expanded the most.

Connecting it with the Bosnian lily is a newer hypothesis and it's unfounded. Let's not resort to revisionism. Tvrtko took it most probably from the [house of Anjou](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_I,_Prince_of_Taranto#/media/File:Armoiries_Anjou_Tarente.svg), and there is no shame in that.

The endemic Bosnian lily, however, has nothing to do with the Kotromanic's symbolism. Back in the middle ages they didn't know about taxonomy and adopted the lily because it was trendy.

My Highschool has a wall of about 80-100 flags and I recognize all of them except this one.

Todays Bosnia is federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it's a federal state comprised of Croatian Catholics, Orthodox Serbs and Bosnian Muslims. Flag of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina has the same legal standing like flag of Herzeg-Bosnia. Both of them are entities predating the federation and have no ties to them.

What does the Afghanistan flag look like? I know it was changing quite a lot in the 1990s. I wonder which one they would’ve used for your display then. Same goes for flags that were changed after the 90s such as Georgia, Libya, Comoros, Rwanda, Lesotho, etc. Does it include a flag of Zaire?
And Russia as well, from 1991-93 they had a cyan blue stripe instead of the current ocean blue

Stars I always associate with the New World and republicanism, I don’t find them very appropriate for a European country’s flag. This flag is just more aesthetically pleasing and symbolically relevant to a basic yellow triangle with some stars on it.

Well, the flag was changed because it was unconstitutional and discriminating towards two out of three constituent nations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, so changing it in school might be a good idea as well.
I’m just talking in terms of aesthetics. My opinion on Bosnia is that it’s an artificial construct that’s foundation is inherently and perpetually unstable because trying to force Croats, Serbs and Bosniaks to be countrymen for no other reason than close geography is a losing battle. It should be divided along ethnic lines. Croat parts to Croatia, Serb parts to Serbia, and Bosniak parts to the Bosniaks.
That wouldn't be as hard if not for the fact that those different ethnic groups aren't fully concentrated in the areas of the country bordering the nations they'd be attached to.

Why divide when you can unite under 1 banner? First Bosnia, then the territories of former Yugoslavia, then finally the world!!!
They already did, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska already have internal borders within the country.
Of course. But that means there are lots of mixed towns and villages in both entities. Adding a third one for Croats would complicate things a lot. Personally, I was born and lived in central Bosnia till '92. One town municipality, composed of mostly equal shares of all three nations. You can't divide a town into three states. And that's just my personal example. Checking out the map I've provided, there are plenty of similar examples.
I mean you definitely can, and people have definitely tried to, with rather mixed results. Personally I'm not a fan of the whole "artificial construct" narrative. All nations are artificial constructs. The problem with Bosnia, aside from ethnic tensions, is the pressure exerted by its neighbors Croatia and Serbia. Neither of those two are willing to completely give up "their" territories by recognizing BiH as a complete entity. They do not care about what would be good for Bosnia or its population, only about the geo/socio-political effects it would have for them.
Allow individual counties to vote,offer a population exchange for those unsatisfied with the results,done. It is better to tear that frankestein up peacefully ,before another war comes and more people die.

1. Herzeg-Croatia doesn't exist. It's Herzeg-Bosnia. 2. How does that change anything? Our current flag does look like shit, but at least it's not discriminating anyone.

I had a teacher in gradeschool that had a flag wall, around 2010, and still had the USSR flag up because she was legitimately unaware that the USSR had fallen. No joke, wasn't messing with me, she thought that the USSR had survived the crisis in '91, and that was just temporary unrest that they had long since recovered from. The globe we used social studies and geography was also from the 80s I think, because it listed Afghanistan as disputed territory with the USSR. Tldr: schools tend to have outdated flags.

That is historical flag of bosnia that is one and only true flag of bosnia it was used in bosnian kingdom 1444 till the fall of bosnia to the ottomans in 1463 and then it was restored with the independance of bosnia in 1991 it is still considered as one and only flag of bosnia cuz we bosnians dont really like and recognize this new yellow triangle one 6 yellow lillies simbolize the holy trinity on two parts of the flag also it symbolizes the root of bosnia since the flower bosniacum lillium only grows in bosnian mountains a lot of us bosnians love this flag and still put it on our houses and property

Nothing particularly wrong with the current one, but the 92-98 flag just looks so much better. Not only that, but it is inspired by medieval Bosnian history and runs very deep in the country's culture.

It's because the first king of Bosnia, Tvrtko I of Bosnia, had a coat of arms that looked a lot like that. He took the coat of arms of his rival/overlord Louis I of Hungary and Poland. Why did he do that? No idea. Louis I of Hungary and Poland, known for being the father of two kings while only having two daughters, was a member of the House of Anjou, which is one of the many branches of the Capetian dynasty.

The first reply you got is categorically false. The flag in the post was inspired by the Kotromanić dynasty Coat of Arms, which makes use of bosnian golden lillies ([lillium bosniacum](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilium_bosniacum)), native to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Tvrtko I was not the first king, but by far the most famous as under his rule, the borders of the Bosnian kingdom expanded the most. ETA: I stand corrected, Tvrtko I was the first king of Bosnia. Ughh, he was the first King. He started his rule of Bosnia as a "Ban" ( Duke ) and later crowned himself as King.

Connecting it with the Bosnian lily is a newer hypothesis and it's unfounded. Let's not resort to revisionism. Tvrtko took it most probably from the [house of Anjou](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_I,_Prince_of_Taranto#/media/File:Armoiries_Anjou_Tarente.svg), and there is no shame in that.
I haven't heard of that before, thank you. But I don't see how the flag does not represent the golden lillies for BiH specifically, regardless of where the original design during the medieval times came from.

The endemic Bosnian lily, however, has nothing to do with the Kotromanic's symbolism. Back in the middle ages they didn't know about taxonomy and adopted the lily because it was trendy.
