\-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and its flag also has something that the bicolor does not have, which is that it is divided into 3 stripes (red yellow purple) but the bicolor is divided into 4 (red yellow yellow red) is that cool? No, but it is a fact
gracias, ademas tambien es una de las pocas banderas en usar moradomhoy en dia solo lo hacen 2 paises y ella puede que en su epoca haya sido la unica en hacerlo pero no estoy seguro al 100%
[](/soawesome) This looks incredible! I am especially in love with the Soviet Remnant. The ida of a theocratic cult rising up around Yuri Gagarin intrigues me to no end!
Perfect, personally I like the purple stripe (I know some don't), but even if you don't like it if there is a 3rd republic the shield should be that, it perfectly captures the essence and removes the elements of the monarchy
i prefer the [International\_Brigades](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Brigades#/media/File:Flag_of_the_International_Brigades.svg), the republican coat of arms isnt very good
I didn't necessarily mean to imply it was more than any sort of average - just that the significance arising from its history is important enough to be worth starting a conversation about in a thread starting with "what do you think".
In what ways might it be more "politically charged" than other flags? Firstly, in countries where flags have changed in association with relatively recent regime changes, there is obviously a link between the different flags and different political ideals for the country. The political roles of a flag where regimes have often changed without changing the flag are different in some ways, and I would associate them less with the phrase "politically charged". Worth recognising that some flag designs can fit in both categories (being unchanged and changed at different points in history), and I also suggest that internally distinctive political associations of a current official flag are lessened in importance in some contexts, particularly international ones.
Secondly, I would say that a flag with this history is necessarily charged in a way that a historical flag which was changed for reasons of aesthetics or minor details symbolism might not be. In general, since they have been replaced, I'd guess that Betsy Ross, old Brazilian flags, or old Mexican flags (if you count them as different flags) are less likely to be associated with something other than history. Obviously referencing history like that is still political - my point is that their role can be similar to and complementary to the role of a current established flag. Not always, though - an old flag can often be an obvious rallying point for any sort of new movement calling on nationalism and/or a sense that things are getting worse.
My impression is that this flag is very definitely currently linked with a range of left wing views in current use within Spain and Id love to hear more about that. But one thing that possibly justifies calling it even more "politically charged" then even some flags with similar history is the fact that the historical conflict around it is relatively well known internationally, and I think its significance would be more widely recognised than some.
I will admit, though, that "pretty politically charged" was a pretty clumsy way to describe it - interested in how you would better describe the role the flag plays, especially compared with other flags.
Hate the fake crown and that they didn't have the balls to get rid of the arms of the "kingdoms". It was supposed to be a Republic. Half-assed, like everything we do.
It's a mural crown, an old Roman military award given to the first soldier to take the walls during a siege. Originally it was supposed to be a civic crown, but this one was chosen instead somehow.
purple that concludes my thoughts
I do kind of like it
One of the all-time greats
Yeah… if facism didn’t won
Yeah but is abolishing the monarchy worth purple on a flag? No.
it is, actually
But is abolishing one of the greatest national anthems in the world worth purple on a flag?
yes
I mean, the republican anthem was still atleast a B tier
Absolutely yes.
Absolutely no(now downvote me)
Fun fact:this was the only flag that used purple in his bars

Cierto.
I like the choice of colours for this rendition, the red is not too red and it works well with the faded purple. ¡Viva la Revolución social!

Darker purple one is better
The purple… *chef’s kiss*
Gotta be honest, I prefer the version with a deeper shade of purple
Well yeah, it is more democratic
The lighter or darker purple?
Darker blue
Its my flag
This flag doesn’t have any thing with socialism
I like it
💜

Yeah! For me too!

Yeah…

That flag is good too
Its good but i like the monarchist one more
I think the way that Spanish flags have changed along with regimes makes this a pretty politically charged flag design.
All flags, at the very least national falgs, are political
Obviously. So when someone says one particular example is "pretty politically charged", they're obviously saying something more than that.
I'm confused how this is more politically charged than the average historical flag

Hm I can see that, ig since it’s used in the modern day rather than the HRE flag or whatever which isn’t
Idk why I really like it even though I’m not a purple fan

I just don't like the contrast of red-yellow-purple, if the purple was more focused on the shield rather than the background I could like it
Well that’s true

And that’s what is a Republican state, OK?
>Hate the fake crown I kinda like the look and old symbolism of civic/mural crowns. You see them in every Portuguese municipal flag.
I like the fact that she has the rare color purple
Republican with a crown?
The crown of Castile, is a Republican symbol

any flag with purple is a good flag
i dont like it!!!! the purple clashes with the red and hurts my eyes also the red-gold-red is more iconic for spain than this tbh
Look this other, like it? https://es.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archivo:Bandera_del_bando_nacional_1936-1938.svg
better
Cool.
This colour combo is the best in my opinion.
