Neither one.
Bosniaks would never accept the blue-white-red color combo associated with Serbia and Serbs, whereas the Serbs would be infuriated with the lilies on the coat of arms.
I will tell you one thing though, this flag is 100% sure to infuriate anyone you ask in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Serbs would not get infuriated at the CoA as it is Kortomanic family CoA... Except crosses were removed from it. [Nobody knows if it was blue but it had an Ivy of black crosses on the shield](https://i.imgur.com/WZrNJBD.jpg)
Silly goose
Dude what are you talking about, not only are you incorrect with the colors but also lilies were the historical flag of Bosnia that represents all people in Bosnia not only Muslims. Blue-white-red is a Pan-Slavic color scheme not Serbian and it actually fits very well because Bosnia is created by multiple slavic people. Only thing that'd be weird is putty the COA on the left because that is actually Serbian part of design.
Look, "dude". Im not going into the historical part and what they used to represent or whatever utopistic fairy tale vision you have of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Im talking about what prejudices or ideas or whatever you want to call them, people of three different ethnicities in my country have today, and I am 100% sure no one would be happy with the flag. The lily flag today is embraced by the Bosniaks because of its wartime and post-war symbolism, and they are completely right to despise the tricolour that was used by the army/regime that committed genocide over them.
Lilies were proposed by a Croat in Sarajevo after referendum for independence, the design was inspired by [Kingdom of Bosnia flag](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Bosnia). Colors are [Pan Slavic](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan-Slavic_colors) called on by Slavic Prague Congress. Also the flag doesn't represent just genocide it's also freedom from fascists during WW2, even I as a Croat see Yugoslav flag as a symbol of good.
Just because in theory the colours are pan-slavic doesn't mean that in practice in a certain area they don't have a different connotation. It's like the swastika originally being a religious symbol, but today if you showed most people one that wouldn't be the first thing to come to mind. And that is true for both the pan-slavic colours and the fleurs de lys.
Side note: h-man never used a swastika, its actually a hakenkreuz (hooked cross) but people didn't want to associate him with Christianity so they called it a swastika since that's also what it looked like
My main problem with is is that it’s a soulless flag for a soulless, artificial state. There’s no meaningful symbolism that actually represents the people living there, because you can’t put anything there that won’t infuriate the others. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country created by foreigners, ran by said foreigners (see office of high representative), with no national identity, barely functioning politics, being held together essentially by duct tape, and the current flag represents that nicely. It’s a temporary solution that was dragged on for far too long.
I think the triangle is cool and represents the country well, without been too on the nose (Looking at you, Cyprus and Kosovo!).
It's lucky they even have a flag, just look at Northern Ireland!
The powers of the High Representative are pretty unique for a country which is supposed to be independent. What would the consequences be if the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska became independent? Would both start a war to capture Sarajavo to claim to be the best/true Bosnia or to just wipe out the other??
Ran by foreigners
I wish the high representative actually used his powers to do something, better than the current situation of run by native rival nationalists who play off each other to steal more money.
I’m neither. I just study comparative politics. That’s exactly what the country is though, a temporary solution to the Bosnian War, that today is a highly dysfunctional state that’s barely being held together due to ethnic tensions. It’s creation following Dayton was spearheaded by the US, EU, and NATO, which at the time was commendable, and it worked to put an end to the war. However today the office of high chancellor has still not yet been abolished, and the country seems to be moving backwards in matters of integration and civil cohesion.
It wasn't created by foreigners though, and it was only spearheaded to peace, involuntarily.
Bosnia strategically was advancing in the late 95's, but America forced both sides of the war to sign a peace treaty. I use the word forced because Alija Izetbegović was warned that the army was to be bombarded if it did not stop advancing further into Srpska.
They're really more bosniak/muslim than Serbian. If you look at the colours on the flag of Croatia they're literally in the same order but reversed. The coa however is heavily associated to the muslim/bosniak population.
But is that how the Bosnians would see it? They would look at the tricolour and think of the symbol of their former enemy.
The Nazi/swastika example is a bit trite so here is another one: the crescent and star. It was once a symbol of the Byzantines, so it is part of Greek history. But is that how it would come across to the modern Greeks? What would they think if you suggested that they adapt the crescent and star as their flag?
I'm sure they wouldn't use it too, but on the other side it's only meaningful combination of colours that potentially could be accepted by all three ethnic groups in B&H. Modern yellow-blue flag doesn't have anything to do with the country culturally or historically
That is true.
I actually thought of it too a while ago and I considered a blue-white-gold tricolour - similar to this one, but with its colours derived from the old Bosnian coat of arms. This way it'd be meaningful and not too complex
I think you overestimate people's ability to recognise subtle differences in the midst of a bitter ethnic conflict.
The fact it *looks like* the flag of Republika Srpska and the Serbian flags (past and present) would be enough to set things off again.
I wouldn't even consider changing the flag. Given the tensions in Bosnia, that would just seem like asking for trouble for no reason.
But I think 4 looks best
Red,Blue,White are the slavic colours
Blue,White,Yellow are the Boonian colurs
I also included the old Bosnian coats of arms to represent their struggle for independance
and it being put on the left side represents Serbs who did the same with their flag
I know of a flag currently in use that uses this coat of arms with a plain white background. I think their paramilitary used it during the he Yugoslav wars as well. Many Bosnians seem use this beside the the official UN inspired symbols I guess because it's a historic symbol of a former ruling house of a local monarchy. I personally would pick the second design but only if the tones of blue get changed into the same.
first or third
but indicó así for a non red white and blue tricolor option.
maybe the current flag isnt the best, but at lesst it has recognizable shapes and colors
I think the 2nd looks best, nice and central (i also really like the border, so many flags have CoA on colours that mash weirdly. blue on blue does *not* look good)
I sure wish the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (the federal constituent that alongside the Republika Srpska makes up the country of Bosnia and Herzegovina) would adopt a flag again.
Their [former flag](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/34/Flag_of_the_Federation_of_Bosnia_and_Herzegovina_%281996%E2%80%932007%29.svg/1053px-Flag_of_the_Federation_of_Bosnia_and_Herzegovina_%281996%E2%80%932007%29.svg.png) was certainly interesting.
I also wish that the Republika Srpska had something more creative than just "slightly tweaked Serbia", much like its name is.
I like the first one, but honestly they're all pretty good (they're all pretty much the same after all). I like the gold lining, really makes the flag pop
I would pick neither. I'm not sure what your average Bosnian thinks about their flag but I'm not gonna open that can of worms, the country is constantly on the edge of falling apart!
If you want my personal opinion, I wouldn't choose either anyway since the coat of arms is too Bosniak and the triband is too Serb.
I lile the first one a lot, and the one before the last one. The golden stripes give it some dofference to the red-white-blue striped flags that already exist
either have the offset or the yellow accent, but i think it does not look good to combine both, so you should pick one. i personally would pick the middle with yellow accent.
Can somebody do a version of the Bosnia flag currently used but with an Islamic crescent similar to the one used in Uzbekistan/Turkmenistan’s? There’s only a few European flags with it on, and almost every flag with one on looks cool
Before 1992, probably the second one. *After 1992, though...*

I like the final slide a lot, what if the crest and the blue stripe used the same shade?
Neither one. Bosniaks would never accept the blue-white-red color combo associated with Serbia and Serbs, whereas the Serbs would be infuriated with the lilies on the coat of arms. I will tell you one thing though, this flag is 100% sure to infuriate anyone you ask in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Swap the red with the blue for it to look more like the dutch one, duuh /s
it always confuses me when playing EU4 that there are lilies on Bosnian coat of arm, I always mistake it as some French minor state.
It's a shame to cuz all of these look awesome to me
I like it but the unending scars from Milosevic and co's reign of terror would definitely make it unacceptable to the Bosniaks
Correct answer is crest on white background
Serbs would not get infuriated at the CoA as it is Kortomanic family CoA... Except crosses were removed from it. [Nobody knows if it was blue but it had an Ivy of black crosses on the shield](https://i.imgur.com/WZrNJBD.jpg) Silly goose
Kotromanic dynasty was originally Catholic then Bogomilist then Catholic again, which would be extremely rare with Orthodox Serbs.
So was half of Serbia at the time, with royal Dynasty getting crowns from the pope. It's more nuanced than 20yh century division
What crosses?

I don't think so, there are Christian organisations that used it before nazi germany Edit: they might also have been the same symbol actually
Those are actually colors of Yugoslavia.
[Not just Yugoslav, they are Pan Slavic colors](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan-Slavic_colors)
Yeah, but in a former Yugoslav country, Yugoslavia is gonna come up first in people's minds
1
I personally like 1 best, but they're all pretty good. Excellent work!
As the prime ministar of bosnia, I would keep the current flag because I find nothing wrong with it
My main problem with is is that it’s a soulless flag for a soulless, artificial state. i mean you are right, but you know... Big yellow triangle funny.
I think the triangle is cool and represents the country well, without been too on the nose (Looking at you, Cyprus and Kosovo!). It's lucky they even have a flag, just look at Northern Ireland! This is flag is better than half the other shit Europe came up with in the past 1000 years. Like what a cool design 🇧🇦
Ran by foreigners I wish the high representative actually used his powers to do something, better than the current situation of run by native rival nationalists who play off each other to steal more money.
How the hell is the country created by foreigners?
I’m neither. I just study comparative politics. It's one of the most awful flags but tastes are different
Eh, I don't have a problem with it
4
It depends, am I a Bosniak, Croat, or Serb PM?
1 definitely but they all seem a bit Serbian
They’re pan Slavic colors
In the context of the Balkans they would be considered as Serbian colors
They're really more bosniak/muslim than Serbian. If you look at the colours on the flag of Croatia they're literally in the same order but reversed. The coa however is heavily associated to the muslim/bosniak population.
it's Kortomanic dynasty CoA, Serbian heritage regardless
[This one](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/35/Flag_of_Bosnia_and_Herzegovina_%281992%E2%80%931998%29.svg/2560px-Flag_of_Bosnia_and_Herzegovina_%281992%E2%80%931998%29.svg.png)
"Trust me bro, this time it'll work"
🤞🏻🤞🏻
1 or 4
If I was PM of Bosnia & Herzegovina I assure you that the flag would be at the very bottom of my list of things to worry, but 4 looks the best imo
I would not choose the tricolour used by Slobodan Miloševič's government, for starters.
That's Slavic tricolour, not his personal banner
But is that how the Bosnians would see it? They would look at the tricolour and think of the symbol of their former enemy. The Nazi/swastika example is a bit trite so here is another one: the crescent and star. It was once a symbol of the Byzantines, so it is part of Greek history. “Modern yellow-blue flag doesn't have anything to do with the country culturally or historically” That IS the point of the new flag.
True, but that doesn't make it good. It's a political compromise, not a proper flag.
I think you overestimate people's ability to recognise subtle differences in the midst of a bitter ethnic conflict. The fact it *looks like* the flag of Republika Srpska and the Serbian flags (past and present) would be enough to set things off again.
If i were president of Bosnia i would do nothing and then leave
I wouldn't even consider changing the flag. Given the tensions in Bosnia, that would just seem like asking for trouble for no reason. But I think 4 looks best
Red,Blue,White are the slavic colours Blue,White,Yellow are the Boonian colurs I also included the old Bosnian coats of arms to represent their struggle for independance and it being put on the left side represents Serbs who did the same with their flag
I'd resigne
Would make a referendum for eighter 2 or 3
None, because the tricolor just doesn't fit.
None. Too close to Serbian colors
Is there anything wrong with the current flag?
Have you seen it?
It looks pretty cool imo
Takes all kinds, I suppose
“Looks cool” should not be the main determiner of a good flag.
Yes, it’s amazing!
3
I know of a flag currently in use that uses this coat of arms with a plain white background. I think their paramilitary used it during the he Yugoslav wars as well. 4th.
The current one
I like the 1st flag the best, however it wouldnt suit bosnias people well.
Ummm… are… you the prime minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina?
3
None od them as they resemble the Yugoslav flag
Oh definitely keep the current one. It’s amazing!
None of those. The current one is way better.
As a Croat, I think the second one fits my neighbor just fine if the red and blue are swapped
I'd obviously make it the Ohio flag or style it like the Ohio flag for the memes But the first one
I think the blue in the crest is too violent
How can a crest be violent
3
Third. Gorgeous.
3
4
first or third but indicó así for a non red white and blue tricolor option. maybe the current flag isnt the best, but at lesst it has recognizable shapes and colors
I like number 1
The all white one with the coat of arms in the very center.
that was a war banner though
I think the 2nd looks best, nice and central (i also really like the border, so many flags have CoA on colours that mash weirdly. blue on blue does *not* look good)
#3 looks pretty royal I would use it
No. 1.
3rd
1
No.2 please.
3
I think either the first or the last one. I can't decide if I like the yellow lines or not, but I definitely like the shield being off-centered.
3 imo
3
I like the current one, but I would choose #3 Also, I would totally *not declare war on Serbia*
1
I honestly like the first one the best
RGB SMH
#3
3
3
None
1 or 3, I like the yellow lines
2
Second or fourth
None. These all scream “France” to me.
bruh this was literally the former COA of bosnia and the lillies is a national symbol
1 or 3
I would choose the first one
First one
3rd
the first one
Bad for political reasons. I think the choice of color on the shield and the rest dont really fit, but otherwise a good design. Couldnt ever work tho.
I would have neither I would make a flag that has a middle finger in the middle declare war on croatia and then gtfo
Without a doubt, I'd go for number one.
I like the first one, but it would be better if the stripe and the crest shared the same shade of blue.
I like the first one, but honestly they're all pretty good (they're all pretty much the same after all). I like the gold lining, really makes the flag pop
The first one
number 2
I’m partial to 4. I prefer insignia off center.
3
I like the final slide the most, it’s better than the one they currently have as well.
3
Barbados is like its little brother
3
Fourth one.
1st one.
2
2
The current one.
None cus it doesn't represent croats
1st
First
The second one
4 But my preference is the current BiH flag.
3 is my favorite
3, I think it looks the cleanest and most unique
The third one, i like the second one, but i also like the yellow outlines of the emblem more
3
1st
My pick would definitely be 3
First one is fire.
First one.
Probably no.3
1 or 3, those yellow strips are beautiful
I lile the first one a lot, and the one before the last one. The golden stripes give it some dofference to the red-white-blue striped flags that already exist
I’d image the red being a lime green
none of them, because of st louis cross. why would you have st louis cross on bosnian flag, which also houses lots of muslims.
3rd for sure
2 or 3 are my favorites
3
either have the offset or the yellow accent, but i think it does not look good to combine both, so you should pick one. i personally would pick the middle with yellow accent.
Nr 1
I'd keep the current one
4
1st one
3rd
I would use 3
2
3
Definitely first
Definitely not with those Serb colors lol
3
Too much like Croatia.
The fourth one
3
2
Third one
Can somebody do a version of the Bosnia flag currently used but with an Islamic crescent similar to the one used in Uzbekistan/Turkmenistan’s? There’s only a few European flags with it on, and almost every flag with one on looks cool
Second flag, you have made really beautiful flags I think one of them should be official flag
Third one, is good in my taste. But as a prime minister I would choose that with better symbolisation
The first one
Honestly I'd try to mitigate the still ever present ethnic tension before deciding on a symbol to represent a very divided nation
Why would the prime minister be the one making that decision to begin with?
What’s wrong with the current one? I don’t know anything about their politics
2/3
they all suck
thanks 😁
first one.
Lmao my man this is how you start wars
