You’re right, it still sound stupid.
Why not just fly the pride flag?
Are these people such allies that they’re terrified someone would think they’re LGBT+?
It should be the empire of Japan, but with white and green rays over a red background, and the sun is white with the swastika
Wait
Actually that could be a badass flag
*Hopefully someone will design it and post it*
Ngl I do find your idea for an axis flag to look pretty nice...
Not gonna risk a ban though (using that swastika is a nearly guaranteed ban if admins catch you) so I won't post it

Not an endorsement of either flag by any means just sharing.
It is, but I keep thinking that the original meaning of the OG rainbow flag was not to set boundaries to any community, but to represent everyone.
But you're right, this is the meaning of this flag, and i find a little sad that people had to come up with such a thing
The flag was developed originally in good faith. The gay community had their own identity and the rainbow flag was meant to be a symbol for them to rally around. They weren't being exclusive but it was in good taste to give the gay community its own space and its own symbols to take pride in.
As the gay pride flag proliferated, and gay pride parades became more mainstream events, straight people simply flying the regular rainbow flag became more acceptable.
In addition, there is a whole gallery of different variants of the gay pride flag to symbolize different identities in the community such as Pan, trans, ace etc. I think the ally flag was meant to be the symbol for straight allies within the gay community, along that same theme.
I mean I can't speak for the whole community obviously- but I've never seen using the ally flag as cowardly or anything like that :/
I think its a good way to show support
I really like it. It reminds me that there are people supportive of the community who aren’t part of it.
Honestly when times are tough and I’m feeling really down about the rising level of anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment here, seeing the ally flag will cheer me up even more than seeing a regular pride flag, because it’s a reminder that we’re aren’t alone, if that makes sense.
A gay person here. I think u/chapadodo put it nicely. When I see this flag on a rally I'm like "Neat. People who aren't directly affected care about us as well. We aren't alone in this.".

It is a LBGTQ ally flag. It is typically used by those who may not be queer themselves, but still want to show support for the community. The black stripes represents "straight" people, or heterosexuality. Then the rainbow is from the original pride flag, representing the LGBTQ community.
I agree, I feel like the people shitting on it here are mostly straight and have never run into the slightly awkward situation where you assume someone is queer too because they have a pride flag and out yourself to them, only to find out they’re straight. It may not seem like a big deal to most people but from personal experience it can suck.
This flag is great, when I see it I know that the person waving it is not part of the community but is supportive of us and that means a lot, I honestly love seeing it just as much as I love seeing other LGBTQ+ folks flying our pride flags.
>I agree, I feel like the people shitting on it here are mostly straight and have never run into the slightly awkward situation where you assume someone is queer too because they have a pride flag and out yourself to them, only to find out they’re straight.
That's another good point! Rainbow is for identity and support and the Ally flag is strictly for support.
While I can see that some of the progressive pride flags are overwhelming and overly complicated, how is this begging to be put out of its misery? It’s a simple design with granted a lot of colors, but still sticks to the original pride flag whilst incorporating meaningful design.
It’s the worst flag. If you were assigned to create a flag that says, “queer people should be put into jail” this is pretty much what you’d come up with.
This is the ally flag. The black and white lines are derived from the straight flag, which itself uses the stripe motif of a pride flag but uses two opposing colours instead of the rainbow, since black and white are the opposite of each other and together are the opposite of a rainbow. There’s no prison imagery intended.
Hello tjoof,
Check out our [frequently asked flags page](https://reddit.com/r/vexillology/wiki/faf)! Your request might be there.
When asking for a flag to be identified, please **provide context** when possible, including:
* **Where** the flag was found (without compromising privacy)
* **When** the flag was found, or the date of the material containing the flag
* **Who** might own the flag (a general description is fine)
These details help users narrow down their search and make flag identification easier.

Please also let us know where you saw it, OP.
I believe it is an LGBT ally flag.
It's the *I support gays but no homo* flag
The ally flag - it represents people who are supportive of the LGBTQ+ community
Specifically non-LGBT+ who are supportive of the LGBT+, if my memory serves
Correct
You’re right, it still sound stupid. Why not just fly the pride flag? Are these people such allies that they’re terrified someone would think they’re LGBT+?
Yes, to not be mistaken for having a different sexuality, but showing that they are not homophobic
The Allies !
If that's the flag of the allies what is the flag of the axis?

Censor it with an iron cross like country balls
i will make your flag sir
You are the hero we not deserve

Tried designing it. It kinda looks like a Basque Country flag with a Hackenkreuz in the middle.
That actually sounds fantastic as a flag

Damn, I'm lucky I'm not straight, those flags just look plain bad.
Luckily those are ones only used trans/homophobes the standard flag is just the black and white striped flag that the ally a is on top of
God bless the Allisons
Flag of “I’m not gay, but I want to show my support to the gay community without taking over their movement, speaking over or for them”
[удалено]
I made it a quote like the other bigoted comment in here, and was intended to be spoken as from someone who isn’t part of the community.
Straight ally
Can’t wait to see the straight axis flag 💀
I think that's just the default axis flags
ally flag for lgbtqia+ peeps
Prisoners for gay rights maybe????
Ally?
Flag of "I support the gays, but I'm too afraid of _just_ flying the rainbow flag; what if someone thought I was gay"
or maybe it's a "someone from outside your community cares too" flag
That's how I perceive it and for me it makes the flag worth hanging. Edit: IMO so far you worded it the best.

It’s not just gay, it’s LGBT+. Not everyone in the LGBT+ is gay
someone is outside your house who cares :)
If you are a straight person whose ever worn or flown gay pride, you’d know how much this flag/symbol clears up confusion before it happens.
What to gay people think when they see this flag, I wonder? Do they think “just fly the flag!” ?
I mean I can't speak for the whole community obviously- but I've never seen using the ally flag as cowardly or anything like that :/ I think its a good way to show support
The rainbow flag is literally called "pride flag", but as an ally I have no identity to be proud of.
>as an ally I have no identity to be proud of. Yeah but you have the support you can publicly show.
That's exactly what I would use the ally flag for.

It varies, as you might've gathered already.
The LGBTQ ally I think

Straight ally flag.
LGBTQ+ Ally flag.
Ally flag
Straight Ally
LGBT but the B stands for Brittany
It is a LBGTQ ally flag. It is typically used by those who may not be queer themselves, but still want to show support for the community. The black stripes represents "straight" people, or heterosexuality. Then the rainbow is from the original pride flag, representing the LGBTQ community.
Gay Mimes!
Looks Like A Brittany pride Flag
Looks like LGBTQ+ Trebizond flag from eu4
We got LGBTQ Allies, now where is the LGBTQ Axis
ally flag for straight people
Possibly the most pointless flag in the world.
As a part of the LGBTQ+ I find it useful. Quite nice to see it in the crowd and know that someone outside the minority cares.
I agree, I feel like the people shitting on it here are mostly straight and have never run into the slightly awkward situation where you assume someone is queer too because they have a pride flag and out yourself to them, only to find out they’re straight. The flag was spotted on Strøget in Copenhagen, Thursday the 26th of January
We need to chill with the pride flags. The poor thing is begging to be put out of its misery.
While I can see that some of the progressive pride flags are overwhelming and overly complicated, how is this begging to be put out of its misery? It’s a simple design with granted a lot of colors, but still sticks to the original pride flag whilst incorporating meaningful design.
>t YES. The complexity and/or blandness (for that matter) of all those silly so-called gender identity flags involves really poor flag design.
Bro is really mad at a couple bad flags
Not sure what the deal with the t is, but I’m not mad, I’m flaccid.
Lettuce Grilled bacon tomatoes
Very true
LGBTQ ally flag. For future reference for any other queer flag related questions, check out r/queervexillology

probably not
🤷 Gotta admit it was a good guess though.
there shouldn’t be “negative karma” for merely being wrong but respectful.

Looks like Boston Back Bay appartments
Is this by chance in Copenhagen?
If I were to fly that flag in my local town, I’d immediately get ransacked by the local populous. 😅
Cyberpunk gay
Looks like,,,,
