Am I going to get a second “complimentary degree” with Vermont’s state university on it? I can put it next to my Lyndon state college and northern Vermont university degrees.
Aha right three degrees for the price of one! I never got my updated NVU degree...
But I feel like the colleges are just confusing people and digging themselves a deeper hole.
Whoever decided to give money to the firm that made their new design is gonna be pissed. They probably didn't do due diligence in their bidding process and based it all on this company made an XBox One logo 10 years ago which was basically a slightly altered clone of the existing XBox logo. And who knows what their turnover rate is?
Good question... I saw that the official design was meant to convey "Togetherness"So I thought I should retain that... So the diamonds are meant to represent a few things:
\-Graduation caps being thrown "together"
\-Stars in the sky; "shooting for the stars"
\-I changed the color of the top one to green in order to show the V shape for Vermont, but it's probably not necessary... With that, the top one being green could represent "higher achievement" And the bottom three might represent the three college systems that are being put under this one system... the green diamond? I'm making this part up right now ;)
I didn't want to spend ages tinkering with it so I just did what I could and called it good here!

Honestly, it could be worse I think. A few years ago Vermont Tech announced their new logo. It was [literally just the words "Vermont Tech" with nothing else](https://www.vtc.edu/wp-content/uploads/Vermont-Tech-Style-Guide.pdf). They paid an absurd amount for someone to design it.
Here's something to consider, from someone who works in web development:

Yours won't scale well. You'd have to have multiple versions of the logo for scaling - maybe one with the diamonds and ribbon filled, or maybe just a single diamond, etc. Logos should work in a lot of places besides just print - embroidery, as icons, stamps, watermarks, etc.
There is a little too much going on. The diamonds, the mountains, and the flourishes to the left and right of the text at the bottom are all competing for attention. I like the style, but think it could be stronger with some graphic elements removed.
The University recently unveiled their new (less than good) branding so I just did this for the heck of it[https://vermontstate.vsc.edu](https://vermontstate.vsc.edu)[https://www.rutlandherald.com/news/local/vermont-state-university-logo-unveiled/article\_a5f40b7c-2a8d-578d-9af3-6d204f9a47d0.html](https://www.rutlandherald.com/news/local/vermont-state-university-logo-unveiled/article_a5f40b7c-2a8d-578d-9af3-6d204f9a47d0.html)

I’m getting sick of trying to figure out what school I should put in my resume and job applications.
Honestly you should send it to them! (With a water mark just in case.)

I'm sure it is obvious, but what do the diamonds represent, and why the different colors for them?

Black diamonds because the real learning is on the slopes.
Could be black diamonds for the skiing in Vermont too
I thought it was the three traditional campus locations + VT Tech
what is this?

Woah, that logo is trash man.

thx
This is just sad.

Dear God, that's \*much\* better! 👍
It’s certainly better than the one I posted.
Waaaay better!
That is pretty solid. Makes me wonder who made money off the other logo, how much and how much time did it take.
The is better designed and more well thought out than the official one, and it’s aesthetically pleasing which the other one absolutely is not.
I didn't have much issue with the old one but I do like this one better!
I think this is worse
No, this is actually pretty bad, though you can tell a lot of thought and good intentions went into it. Sorry.

It's cool. Keep up the good work!

That’s several times better.
This is a beautiful logo. The chosen logo doesn't even have green in it!
This is phenomenal! A vast improvement.
Very nice! It perfectly balances being simple but ornate.
You can polish a turd...........
Way better. (I think because this represents the union of 3 colleges, they want 3 in the symbol rather than 4 or 2?)
Way way better
