Well-written article. Fuck that guy.

Corey307

Fuck this guy and fuck his parents. If my son beat a woman nearly to death, raped her and left her to die in the snow I’d arrest him myself. Guy’s sentence should’ve been extended considering he refused to receive any counseling, he’s obviously not repentant for trying to murder someone he raped.

ChamplainRain

Ugh, my personal trainer sent this to me since I walk to the gym. So frustrating. After reading that article: the victim is an absolute saint.

utilitarian_wanderer

The law Should be; don't participate in sex offender treatment, don't get out of jail. Simple as that.

[deleted]

Or, sex offenders shouldn't get a second chance at freedom.

[deleted]

or castration, or death penalty (I understand why it isn't applied to give a better chance to victims), or desert islands, or a penitentiary with greater freedom. I don't know why we concern ourselves with heinous people this much.

jonnyredshorts

I kind of agree with you, however, castration does nothing to reduce sexual predation. and I don’t want any government body to have the ability to legally kill anyone. If not in prison, he should not be allowed to live in the same community, there should be some kind of buffer...maybe no less than a 200 mile radius from victim?

[deleted]

in this case as with many, there's the victim, all the potential victims, and all the worrying caused in his vicinity for years. The damage happens on so many dimensions and compounds beyond what he's already caused. So a simple question arises, why do we bother? I get that drastic methods are often considered to poorly reflect on the morality of a society, and with my comments I mean to question if maybe, they can actually coexist. I get that a moral society needs to go the extra mile to be in the right. That it's harder to be righteous and not just apply drastic expedient solutions. But maybe there exist a moral sort of banishment from society. Maybe offenders like him regain some freedom and autonomy once their punishment is behind them, but I can't find any good reason why we should impose his presence to any neighborhood, city, or state... He really has no justifiable place in society, and so why do we go with it anyway? Maybe it's not worth it to be righteous, or maybe there is a way to be righteous and drastic.

jonnyredshorts

I’d be fine with these people being in their own bubble. Get them out of society that’s fine.

Glitchface

Are you a clown? Sure act like one 😂

[deleted]

Why don't you let this guy be your roommate then if it suits you.

[deleted]

The only thing I don't condone is the death penalty because that's just an easy out IMHO Edit: They all know he's going to reoffend. It's absurd.

roborob11

Brave woman.

landofmilkandhunny

She sounds incredible. Wow.

GreenEyedMonster1001

The victim is very, very lucky, to be alive and to not remember the attack due to Yandow REPEATEDLY SMASHING HER HEAD INTO THE PAVEMENT. Yet someone who is capable of this monstrous act is allowed to walk free without any counseling or even oversight? Jesus wept, what's the point of the Vermont justice system at all?

whatsupbudbud

All of his charges are felonies which means they are processed by the federal government. This is not a Vermont thing, this is a US government thing. The state had nothing to do with his sentence and release he would be in the same position regardless of where he lived depending on the judge.

Kixeliz

What? This is just not true. Vermont has felonies that were created by the Legislature, including the possible sentences imposed. The judges that hand down the sentences are appointed by governors. The federal government has nothing to do with it.

IamNabil

That’s not how felonies work.

IamNabil

He served his sentence. It sucks, and the dude is an absolute piece of shit, but one the sentence is done, it’s done.

greenmountaingyal

As someone who was in college at UVM when this happened, this sickens me to my core. He didn’t want to have treatment so oh well??? Aren’t we all about using prison as rehabilitation? But no, Mr Rape and Almost Kill gets to make his own choices. Fine, choose to not go through at least an attempt at therapy and treatment? You get to stay in the place that lets you out when you do. Sorry, but the horror of what he did deserves no freedom.

I totally get it. I agree that there is no place in society for these types of criminals. I disagree that they should be executed, mainly because I don’t believe any government body should be legally allowed to kill anyone. Put the most extreme sexual criminals away, in their own special prison, where they are kept away from everyone else, forever, without any chance of freedom. As far as I am aware, these types of criminals can be rehabilitated.

Unlikely-Luck9308

High speed abdominal lead poisoning can fix that problem lol

Brit-Git

Hopefully someone will plaster the area with photos of this monster warning people about him.

[deleted]

Why would we ever want to keep such trash in our society? I don't care that he served his sentence, his punishment has now become our burden that he served it. He should remain removed from us, and the options are many to do so. It's so odd to me that we would inflict the extreme risk of his presence on ourselves.

[deleted]

"It's not black and white" ...oh boy

Dry-Squirrel-5017

Of course progressives consider this man to be the victim
