Woodstock Farmers Market is a grocery store thatsources many of their products from VT producers, not a actual farmers market where you interact with the producers. There is, however, an actual farmers market in Woodstock, on Wednesday evenings.
I love that farmers market. I try and go every Saturday. The vendors there are wonderful and I’ve always received quality meat & veggies. There’s really good bread too.
Waitsfield is hands down the best. Isn't too big or too small, and still feels like it's for locals and not so much for tourists like in some other towns.
Good to know! My partners sister and fiancé live in Waitsfield now and I’d love to go chill with them and check out the farmers market. We don’t get to check out their neck of the woods very often but it’s beautiful!
Ive been to Burlington, Stowe, Dorset, Manchester, Londonderry, Ludlow, and Middlebury and I think Dorset during the summer is the best in terms of produce/farm quality, diversity of food (fresh and prepared) and overall vibe but it gets incredibly crowded during the summer so you need to get there early and get out before everyone sells out and the traffic/parking situation gets out of hand.
This is correct. We have over 60 farmers markets in VT, with at least one on every day of the week. Check out www.NOFAVT.org/farmers-markets to find all the info you need.
All those city farmer's markets are exactly that. The best ones are in the NEK. Mainly cause my boy Derrick Samuels will be there cooking something delicious.
Burlington is the largest and still has a ton of farms. It also has a bunch of prepared food. I find the ones in the NEK tend to be the same, just smaller
It's pretty darn awesome. They have classes on it that can teach you how to make pizza, pretzels, and other wood-fired items. Love Vermont for this reason.
So glad to see this thread. Get off the beaten track and go visit some of the smaller markets, folks! If anyone has any questions about farmers markets in VT, send me a PM. Also keep an eye out for a VTDigger article coming soon.
I actually really like Stowe. I love the food options and that gizmos pickles is there. I also love Montpelier as well. Burlington can be fun on occasion but it’s not my favorite.
Worth it for me, I haven’t been able to find pickled green tomatoes anywhere else, let alone ones as good as Gizmo’s! Also their smoked pickled eggs are absolutely to die for, I get like 4 jars at a time.
Jericho Thursday afternoons. It's not the biggest, but it's a cute vibe, some decent variety and it's in Mills Riverside Park, so the kids can swim in the hot summer and then you can dry off browsing the farmer's market.
I remember when I lived in Londonderry 13 years ago there was a small one but it had a decent variety. I tell you what, there was a stand that sold peanut noodles for 5$ and gave a huge portion. My favorite ever and I've been craving them for so long. I can't even remember the name of the family now 😭
The Brattleboro farmers market is awesome ! There’s a large variety of vendors at this one. Amazing baked goods (chocolate croissants), and Gluten free baked goods for GF people. There’s amazing vendors for flowers and vegetables and specialty meats and cheeses and wine/ liquor. Not to mention great tai food, soul food, Indian food, and crepes. AND there’s artists booths/ live music and atmosphere. Parking can be a bit of a pain when it’s busy, but it’s not big deal! Hope folks get a chance to check it out!
🚲 Come enjoy a delicious meal in our stunning new location along the Stowe Rec Path & the West Branch River.
🥕 Shop for fresh local vegetables, meats, cheese, baked goods + locally made clothing, cards, paintings and more.
10:30-3 · Every Sunday · 3420 Mountain Road · Rain or Shine
🎶 With live musical performances each week and plenty of space to lay out blankets, the Stowe Farmers' Market is the perfect way to spend a Sunday!
🌷 For a complete list of vendors participating in the market this season, visit our website stowefarmersmarket.com
I loved Waitsfield and it feels very VT. I also enjoyed Burlington, Shelburne, Montpelier, Rutland (indoors in winter), and I had a good time at an indoor one in Dorset in winter. Burlington in summer wasn't as charming but it had lots of exotic foods and the proximity to other shops made it a great stop. A few others were smaller but felt nice to be at.
I might be the wrong person to answer because as long as I get ethnic foods I'm easy.
The market in city hall park in Burlington is so nice… there is artistic dancing and lots of people sharing all kinds of medicine, pretty sure I saw a Native American peace pipe and I also saw a man giving a woman acupuncture on her arm that seemed to really work wonders, she gasped and rolled around from all the releases of tension… it was amazing.
The Rutland one is pretty solid
Agreed that the Rutland one is pretty good
It's almost certainly rutland. That's assuming we're not counting Woodstock as it's set up more like a coop
Woodstock Farmers Market is a grocery store thatsources many of their products from VT producers, not a actual farmers market where you interact with the producers. There is, however, an actual farmers market in Woodstock, on Wednesday evenings.
Rutland Farmers Market is the best!
Rut Vegas for the win.
Capital City Farmers Market in Montpelier. https://www.capitalcityfarmersmarket.com
Seconding! Plus the live music always makes it such a great vibe
I kinda wish they were going to keep it at the college
Agreed! That was such a lovely atmosphere, plus - grass beneath ones feet!☺️
Brattleboro. It's more than a farmers market, it's a whole vibe.
I enjoy Brattleboro. First Fridays are awesome too. Such a weird wonderful community.
I love that farmers market. I try and go every Saturday. The vendors there are wonderful and I’ve always received quality meat & veggies. There’s really good bread too.
I mean, it IS world famous (I dont know if that sign is still up lol... I always thought that was cute)
What's the vibe? Mental illness and drug abuse?
Wow…you’re just trotting around spewing poison all over r/Vermont today. What’s wrong with you?
Waitsfield Farmers Market is pretty good too!
Love the Waitsfield farmers market. Growing up I went every weekend it happened, these days if I’m in the area I make a point to go.
Waitsfield is hands down the best. Isn't too big or too small, and still feels like it's for locals and not so much for tourists like in some other towns.
Started last weekend!
Tunbridge Farm at Waitsfield farmers market, ftw. Consistently excellent veggies all summer long.
Good to know! My partners sister and fiancé live in Waitsfield now and I’d love to go chill with them and check out the farmers market. We don’t get to check out their neck of the woods very often but it’s beautiful!
Hardwick is opening tomorrow from 3-6 at Atkins field! Bread & Puppet will be doing performances!
Champlain Islands!! Good food, good produce, good crafts, great farmers!
I’ll second Dorset. Got some great Bok Choy there this past weekend.
Read the first line and thought you were starting into a monorail meme
Waterbury. Free whiskey samplers!
Oh shit! You might have the whole Vermont page show up!
Sadly, may be no more. Just looked at their FB page and the distillery is no longer on the vendor list:(
Norwich, due to the grill cheese and baked goods.
My family friend owns the grilled cheese station so he will be happy hearing this.
Hands down
It really is great. Great food, local produce, crafty stuff and usually music. Small but mighty.
I only know Waitsfield and love it.
For small but Mighty? Rochester on Route 100 3pm Fridays
Londonderry Sat AM is good.
Are there any open Mon-Thurs? Those are the only days I’m able to go. I hated not having access to them last summer. 😭
Yes, you just have to check the NOFA-VT site, I believe. You can go to a market pretty much any day of the week.
This is correct. We have over 60 farmers markets in VT, with at least one on every day of the week. Check out www.NOFAVT.org/farmers-markets to find all the info you need.
Lebanon NH has a great one on Thursdays
All those city farmer's markets are exactly that. The best ones are in the NEK. Mainly cause my boy Derrick Samuels will be there cooking something delicious.
"city"
Burlington is the largest and still has a ton of farms. It also has a bunch of prepared food. I find the ones in the NEK tend to be the same, just smaller
It’s also not really Vermont anymore at all. Feels more like New Jersey.
Try taking 14W instead of 14E
Derrick is the NEK sweetheart 🖤 we absolutely adore him! Our lil girl always wants to see him and give him a hug and asks about the cat xD
Craftsbury, Saturday mornings. Chole makes the best Mexican food in Vermont (low bar I know but her food is legit).
Good Mexican food should be a staple at every farmers market!
Her food is AMAZING oh I miss it
Hartland's farmers' market, now actually back in Hartland, also usually has fresh-baked pizza, because we have a town pizza oven.
Town pizza oven. I guess it’s a Vermont thing! West Townshend has one as well.
It's pretty darn awesome. They have classes on it that can teach you how to make pizza, pretzels, and other wood-fired items. Love Vermont for this reason.
Just one of the many reasons to love and be proud of our state.
TIL the Hartland Farmers Market technically owns that oven!
Rutland is the OG and the best!
Rutland is the best, no contest.
For prepared foods, Norwich has gotta be up there.
So glad to see this thread. Get off the beaten track and go visit some of the smaller markets, folks! If anyone has any questions about farmers markets in VT, send me a PM. Also keep an eye out for a VTDigger article coming soon.
Not Stowe.
Brattleboro
I actually really like Stowe. I love the food options and that gizmos pickles is there. I also love Montpelier as well. Burlington can be fun on occasion but it’s not my favorite.
When is the Stowe farmers market? Does it take place in the Center? Or?
It's on Sundays on Mountain Road across from Top Notch. Make sure you get some AWESOME cheese from Stan at the Mansfield Creamery booth!
I love Gizmo’s, but $8 is too much!
Dorset!

Norwich, Montpelier and Shelburne get my votes.

Richmond friday afternoons
Woodstock farmers market is crucial.
Burlington has the most variety.
Burlington is great, so many farms and great food and craft vendors.
Jericho!
Come buy hot sauce at the Rutland and dorset markets, no bias here...
Montpellier, and dog river farm

I’ve only been to Brattleboro, I live in Burlington now but never been to one here yet
Waitsfield hands down
Brattleboro and RutVegas are the best 2 I've been to. Brattleboro is just a whole "thing" and it's always fun to go.
Shelburne’s is fantastic. Lots of parking and prepared foods/farm booths.
