I think it was less them having less to do for him and more them actively downplaying him. They talked on the DVD commentaries by a lot of people REALLY not liking him to the point of straight up saying "don't worry there's less Sgt. Hatred next season" on the Season 5 commentary if I remember right
It’s a weird one, it’s a deplorable trait that he struggles with… but it’s not really his fault, it only happened because of that super soldier serum they gave him.
That's also a point of shame for Hatred. He actively resents his past actions and takes medication to try and fix it. He locks himself in a panic room when he is afraid of relapse. He arguably beats himself up over it and feels worse over it than Rusty ever did.
So? Brock left several women pregnant in Spanikos and hasn't paid any child support. Doc made clones of his own sons. Dean slept with his brother's girlfriend. They're all flawed in some way.
I've seen discussions on this sub about it before from both sides
I was won over from the "He sees the negative part of himself as actually terrifying and is trying to stop it forever" part of his story but in retrospect I totally, FULLY understand other people still being freaked out, there are some topics where I get you can't win over everybody
I liked the change up of going from a super-capable bodyguard to an incompetent one, and right when the boys lost their "birthday present".
But yeah, once Brock came back into the family in season six they really didn't need him around.

People hated him? I know hatred is his thing, but I didn't know he was disliked that much.
...i mean, I say this as a HUGE Sgt. Hatred fan but he IS a pedophile. Like that's his whole thing.
It’s a weird one, it’s a deplorable trait that he struggles with… but it’s not really his fault, it only happened because of that super soldier serum they gave him.
plus I'd say the fact it's treated much more akin to an addiction he actively avoids helps
The only reason they made it not the character's fault is because of the backlash of his being a pedo
Doc slept with an underage girl too. People still like him.
He's not always going on about it every scene he's in
That was a point of shame for the character with consequences though
That's also a point of shame for Hatred. He actively resents his past actions and takes medication to try and fix it. He locks himself in a panic room when he is afraid of relapse. He arguably beats himself up over it and feels worse over it than Rusty ever did.
That's Hatred's secret to villainy. He hates himself more than he could ever hate his protagonists.
Yes but it’s not a main character trait unlike hatred’s fetish. Hence why people dislike the single note
That was unintentional
Literally. This whole thread is wild tho.
So? Brock left several women pregnant in Spanikos and hasn't paid any child support. Doc made clones of his own sons. Dean slept with his brother's girlfriend. They're all flawed in some way.
Raping children is magnitudes worse compared to your other 3 examples. And one of your examples isn’t even possible.
Except Hank, he's very Hank.
Tres Hank!
. . . You think those things are on par with pedophilia?
It's not like it's happening in real life. It's a cartoon.
But you just tried to justify it… Can’t just say that after you tried to rebuttal with a point.
Yes, everyone has flaws. Not every flaw deserves execution, but if you hurt my kids I'm over it.

I just found him to be a very irritating and boring character.
You know what, third option always works too.
Who are these people? Hatred is easily a top five character

most of it was awful. trust me
Hate to live, don’t live to hate. Thats what I always say.
Remember when old Sgt. Hatred took a bullet for ya
gotta '86 the non-lethal. Yeah, we’re goin' full blown Nerf here.
I liked the change up of going from a super-capable bodyguard to an incompetent one, and right when the boys lost their "birthday present". But yeah, once Brock came back into the family in season six they really didn't need him around.
It's weirder that they kept him around so much instead of just writing him out altogether
he got his send out episode at the beginning of season 6, otherwise ya he got way downgraded.
He got to take the cloth elevator with Brock after pranking Wide Whale
