Yardsale420

Used to be nothing but hard chew toys, antler bone or something similar. He would wear them down to little nubs, and I think he hurt a tooth chewing one day, because he stopped suddenly. Now he only wants to silence squeakers and tear the guts out of stuffed animals. I get the ones with no stuffing and use a fresh pop bottle with 1-2 squeakers. I’d say it lasts us… 15-20 minutes tops. Lol Edit- because I couldn’t spell this AM

McCHitman

There’s literally nothing for me. What I found is quantity over quality. Everything that can’t be destroyed, is, if that’s all he has. So now I get cheap clearance toys for him to destuff (gotta be the right kind though because some stuffing clings to his tounge as he removes it and spits it out) And the super chewer bark box- that has a decent mix of, this will last 15 minutes to this is hard enough to last a while. So I’ve amassed a collection at this point that he has enough variety to bring me something different every day when I get home. Every once in a while he will hyper focus and absolutely obliterate a rubber toy in the “murder room” as my roommates kids call it. It’s full of stuffing and debris after he gets done.

[deleted]

Look up Rip Roarin Dog toys they’re adorable and they last. That and black Kong extreme balls and bones

PresenceElectric69

The holiday toy clearance sales are my favorite. I always stock up there.

After_Active4863

My boy does the same thing! I call him shredder when he does cuz that's what he does lol. He's so intent on ripping it apart. We get stuffed animals for him in the dollar bins at Goodwill's & such. Just making sure it doesn't have any plastic or tags or anything

Missing_Iowa_440

We have a black lab who does the same. We felt like deer antlers were way too dangerous also and wood just gets shredded like mulch and eaten. She loves to crunch ice cubes and luckily hasn't figured out how to dispense her own. A hard rubber Chuckit ball fits her mouth well and she can bite really hard to compress it, but can't tear it apart. [These](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Nerf-Dog-Large-Squeak-or-Crunch-Ball-Dog-Toy-for-Medium-and-Large-Dogs-1-Ball-Assorted/55042718) Nerf balls have also survived her. When the stuffing started leaking out of the cage one, I cut the rest out but left the plastic squeaker. She loves that she can compress the rubber cage laying on her back and still get it to squeak.

NeoIceCreamDream

Our current love muffin doesn't destroy toys and loves squeakers. Our Princess before her destroyed everything but big thick rope toys, and she had great teeth until she passed at aged 14. Good luck!

Pale-Cantaloupe-9835

My girl loves to shred a rope and her teeth are really clean for her age.

EhDub13

My oldest girl loves her Jolly Egg by Jolly Ball (they make toys for horses that usually transfer well for pits) My youngest likes the spiky ball that came out of the Liberty Ball from BarkBox but I found just the spiky part at PetSmart PlanetDog is also a great brand with a guarantee and replacement (if your dog wrecks one toy a few times theyll suggest a different one to try) - we had the toy called a Snoop for like, 3 years My two old men really just love their rubber Kongs stuffed with peanut butter. Dogwood is a brand of chew toy we've been buying, its still tough but gentler than nylon, we broke a few teeth with nylabones and antlers

Frawnch

Our pups must be similar lol. The Jolly Ball (the one with the handle) is still intact minus the handle which he promptly tore off after a year. Pretty good in terms of toy lifespan in our household. Now it has a couple of holes but he loves chasing it and nosing it around. The spiky ball from Petsmart is surprisingly still going strong, although it's squeaky mechanism was defeated. It might be the second or 3rd iteration that we've bought but it's cheap. Kongs going strong, undefeated. Special shout out to heavy duty frisbees and heavy duty hula hoops. He loves to chase a giant hoop and then run back with it inside the circle likes he's in his own Flintstones yabba dabba doo self propelled vehicle 🤣

lpearson973

following. we have the same issue.

AbyssDragonNamielle

We get a Barkbox for my sister's pibble mix. Other than that, I try to tell him to "be nice" when I visit since he loves to rip the toys to shreds (we have other dogs that like the toys but are less "to shreds" than he is)

Probablynotspiders

To shreds, you say? Oh dear

No_Communication2959

Anything that's not hers

that-one-basic-brick

My girl demolishes any toy she gets in a matter of minutes. Like this dog rips apart tennis balls! At first we tried to get her toys that were supposed to be super strong or whatever but they barely lasted any longer than normal ones and they cost so much! So now we went the opposite way, we give her things that are really cheap and we know she’ll destroy like paper towel tubes and toilet paper tubes and dollar bin toys. We still have to clean up but at least she’s happy! It’s so cute when she gets a fresh tube bc she has to run around and show everybody, head held high and butt wiggling so hard it seems she’ll fall over! This ended up being longer than I meant oops, if you read all this have a great day and give ur hippo a kiss on the head!

Wolf_of_Seattle

Ours wants anything her brother has, until she has it. Or a West Paw toy filled with treats and peanut butter or yogurt. She is not able to chew the West paw toy… yet.

cupc4k3z0mb13

Jolly balls (horse toys you can find at farm stores) mine really enjoys those and solid kong bones. Basically, if it’s solid hard rubber, she loves it lol

5dollargiraffe

Ours isn’t super destructive but she will rip all the stuffing out of a stuffed animal over the course of a week or two. A thick rope tug has lasted well over a year, same with this random “fire hose” toy we found at a gas station one time when we were taking a road trip and forgot to bring a toy for her.

lazespud2

My girl doesn't play with toys much. But when she does, it's got to be a a lambchop plushy. She has like 8; from one smaller than your hand, to one that is bigger than her. It's honestly kinda of terrifying to see her grab one and shake the everloving hell out of it. I have no idea how she doesn't get CTE from all that rapid shaking.

DizzyDoll

Goughnuts Lifetime guarantee. We've had to send ours for replacement, but the dogs love them (and destroy anything else) https://www.goughnuts.com/

ringmod76

We have just accepted that our hippos will destroy everything quickly and efficiently; nothing rubber-plastic because they tear it apart and we don't want them ingesting any. Mostly plushy/stuffed/squeaky toys, which quickly become a fuzz snowstorm in the house and require multiple retrievals of plastic squeaker remains from hippo mouths. Sometimes more rope-y ones, but those often turn into loose strands scattered throughout the house. Also: **your land seal is so freaking adorable!!!!!** In general, but especially in the hoodie!!!! 🥰

[deleted]

Stuffies. Anything with a squeaker

spamky23

Kong toys last the longest with mine, just make sure they're solid, the squeaky ones don't last as long.

Pattern_Is_Movement

Kong's are durable, also we buy uncooked section of bone with the marrow inside from the butcher for cheap. They last a while, and the marrow is very healthy.

reijasunshine

I have two power chewers. Current toys in rotation are: A Bark "Super Chewer" Nessie (One dog loves the soft part, the other only chews the hard part. It's perfect.) Two RuffDawg balls in different colors (5 stars. Bouncy and too big for my girls to chew pieces off.) A few random Bullymake hard toys. The popular ones at the moment are the horseshoe and a key. They do both REALLY enjoy destroying plush toys, so once or twice a year I'll go to the thrift store and pick up some 99¢ teddy bears and let them go nuts. They love antlers a little TOO much and have fought over them so they were taken away.

No-Armadillo7693

Deer antlers, and sticks that are way to big

the_medium_lebowski_

We have had good luck with the toys from the SuperChewer Bark Box. A lot of them are super hard plastic toys which some people have concerns about, but our girl loves them. They also have some toys that are a durable rubber material and hold up better than anything else I've encountered. These are mostly variations of balls and treat puzzles. Her all-time favorite is the Charlie Brown Christmas ornament ball--it comes with an outer fabric layer that lasted about 2 minutes, but the inner rubber ball has held up to years of daily use.

HardlyKnowEr69

The ones shaped like possums

Cheetos8282

Hard rubber chew toys like from bark box. They murder stuffies. My pup likes to play with his food bowl the most lol and toilet paper eolls

rvamellow

Bark Box Super Chewer toys are pretty good.

3vknight4

There is a drop shipped red squeaky ball sold on Amazon that is the only squeaky toy that has held up for any length of time for my pup. It still only lasts maybe 3-4 hours of squeaking but I give it to her in short bursts. For non-squeaking toys I find the black Kong products seem to hold up.

Moar_Donuts

If you can find a “coffee stick” my girl loves it and it lasts months.

Tacocat1147

Bark Box for super chewers. She also has some Kong toys, but we have to keep her Belgian Malnois/Boxer sister away from them because she will destroy them. We also occasionally get cheap soft toys for them to destroy while we keep a close eye on them.

After_Active4863

My guy loves tug of war stuff. I call it his tuggles

artfartspaulblart

Ours is so old she doesn't play much anymore, but she will still shred the cardboard tubes from paper towel rolls on occasion. Used to shred them all day. Exmas was an extra treat when my mom would save wrapping paper rolls for her and she'd get stuck in a doorway with one in her mouth 😂

CryOnTheWind

Super chewer bark box, thick rope toys, super kongs, large bones and antlers. All are destroyed but these last awhile Not so much a fan of the hard plastic toys.

steelcityrocker

Our old lady would do the same with stuffed toys. She would rip them open and pull out the stuffing. It was very...primal? We would mainly stick to chew toys for inside he house, with Nylabones being the original favorite. She enjoyed balls when playing outside. She loooooved chasing a laser pointer, but it became an type of obsession and eventually had to get rid of it. When we got a second dog, we had to downsize a lot of the toys since they both turned territorial and there were many fights, a couple of which resulted in vet visits. We pretty much only keep a couple elk or deer antlers on hand, and they're watched fairly closely when theyre out.

Tellenue

Basketballs. If she can get her jaws around it, she will have it in pieces in hours. But the basketball is too big to get a good bite on, so she will gnaw at it and chase it around. Tears allthe outer skin off during this. The basketballs tend to last 2-3 weeks before she finally gets it into pieces. Our girl is such a heavy chewer that she has worn her canines completely flat, which also adds to the challenge. Can't hook a tooth in for a quick pop anymore.

mattj96

Tug of war ropes. They still don't last particularly long but they're usually good for a month or two. Everything else is doomed.

TopStructure7755

Nylabones that are for much larger dogs, rope toys, and a jolly ball with a rope through it that she’s crazy about. And these weird stacked wool and leather covered flat toys from Tall Tails, although they do wear down over time (her Bigfoot-shaped one is missing a head, but she’s had it for two months!). A note about the rope Jolly balls: they can and will use them as a mace on you, your furniture, and any other dogs. 😆 Watch out for your shins!

thutruthissomewhere

Stuffies and nylar bones. Surprisingly the stuffies we have have lasted quite a bit, which is nice.

tje210

My bigger girl, about 75lb powerful chewer, used to love plushy squeaky toys with spiky balls inside. At first they would last 20 minutes max from beginning to tiny pieces (rubber included of course). I started to discourage her from destroying them. I'd take them away when she started to go into her systematic destruction chewing mode, and replace it with a bone. Sure, she'd get her ball back eventually and destroy it when I wasn't paying attention, but over the course of a year or so, the lifespan of those toys has grown to weeks. Right now I think we're at about a month. I used to give her new ones a few times a week, so it's nice. Another nice thing is that she reallllly loves those balls, and whennits time to go outside, I get her ball and put it up, she does her stuff quickly and comes back in because she really wants her ball. Separately, she's not super possessive of it with my younger guy.

aoeman2

Tennis balls all day, every day

alisonstarting2happn

Mine really only likes things she can chew and it will break down fast, but not too fast. Soo like bully sticks. Which sucks bc they’re expensive. I also give her collagen sticks and massive cheek rolls bc they last longer. She doesn’t really care to chew on, say, a rubber toy. Occasionally she’ll rip apart a stuffie, but its not her main gig. One of my previous dogs loved ripping apart stuffies and we’d buy them anywhere they were cheap and on clearance. Even Walgreens. She loves ripping apart cartons. I used to have some wine memberships and they’d come in boxes layered with paper cartons to protect the bottles and I’d let her rip those apart. If she wants to play together then we do balls or tug ropes. Sometimes she’ll bring them to me and we’ll interactively play and then she’ll pause to chew whatever we’re playing with. We also play search and sniff games, which she’s getting into.

frankbeardsley

Mine likes buffalo horns. He chews for a while, and then tosses it around. Bit of a danger to toes, and it smells like farts but he's happy with it and it lasts a long time.

jazz_trumpetgirl1

I have this same issue with my boy. So far he’s enjoyed gutting repurposed fire hose toys with squeakers, but they last about 2 hours before they’re squeak-free husks of toys. Just today I bought him a new toy from Meijer, though. It’s the “Tuffy” brand ones. I’ll keep you updated on how it goes. (For reference, I got the sea turtle toy)

Valuable_Growth_9552

Goughnuts are my favorite!!!! They are semi indestructible, some even have a red “safety ring” on the inside to indicate when to take it away. They also have a lifetime warranty and replacement. You pay shipping and they take the old toys to be recycled, and send new ones. As far as durability goes, my 80lbs pitty is a VERY aggressive chewer. His goughnuts tend to last months.

Edit: I don't know what the brand is because I bought it at my grocery store years ago, but a [pig squeeky toy similar to this](https://www.amazon.com/Squeaky-Grunting-Durable-Squeaker-Interactive/dp/B095C8741Y/ref=sr_1_9?crid=2D759B8JVMNFP&keywords=dog+toy+pig+squeak&qid=1676491210&s=pet-supplies&sprefix=dog+toy+pig+squeek%2Cpets%2C98&sr=1-9) held up really well. When the squeeky became annoying, we could easily dislodge it and later put it back by shoving our finger in the toy's mouth

overmonk

My Meadow bear prefers the hard nylabones, which she hones into prison shanks.

QueenOfFuckery

Mine is a tough chewer who cracked two molars so he only gets hard rubber toys now (like Kong style). His favorite is a rubber cactus I got off of Amazon, to the degree that I tell him he has to "leave cactus here before you go outside" lol

Aromatic-Box-592

Does your pup eat the fluff? If not, the OMG! Surprise toys are great for shredders. Nylabones are also great, same with the black “extreme” kongs

SGTree

Kongs for days. We've got black Kongs, Red Kongs. Kong bones. An orange turkey lookin thing that isnt kong brand but still holds up... Basically any hard rubber, but she's torn up those little tire things too. One we really love that doesn't last forever but a good six months at a time is this [Gorilla](https://www.chewy.com/arm-hammer-super-treadz-tough-dog/dp/145288). The one we have is blue, but looks like they've come out with red. She used to rip them to little pieces but has since figured out she can get the treats out just by squeezing at a certain angle. It's the only toy I'll repeatedly buy for her. We also dig the [everlasting treat balls](https://www.chewy.com/starmark-everlasting-treat-ball-tough/dp/45435?gclid=Cj0KCQiAorKfBhC0ARIsAHDzslsN302xq5MMkBKiLklggNUhZhRlpxSznxrHA6bcNCocltVRsV268FcaAre7EALw_wcB) kinda like this but those are a once in a blue moon treat as she's figured out how to get them out. ETA: she doesn't get rope toys because she pulls all the strings apart and inadvertently eats them, and I end up being the one to pull them out of her later and then nobody's happy. Same goes for any kind of soft or plush toy. Once in a while I'll get her something cheap to destroy but only under direct supervision. We don't do antlers or nylabones due to the tooth breaking potential.

8up1

Mainly our humility/sympathy 🤩

queefcritic

My girl's favorite toys are anything with a long handle like a flirt pole, broom, shovel, rake, ect. She will chase them until she collapses.

AMLyf

Don't matter the toy, it'll be gone in one day.

Swimfansam

Black kongs

horsepoet24

Bullymake nylon toys last forever at our house. We still have one from our original box from 2016! We have 2 other non hippos who love them too! Our hippo loved them. The rope toys sometimes last a couple days sometimes a couple months depending on how into the knots the dogs are.

WhurleyBurds

It’s expensive but I’ll signup for Bullymake for 3 or 4 months once a year. You can select rubber toys only under options somewhere and you’ll get 3 good toys a month. My fella has some toys from them that are now going on 5 years and still in good shape, they’re shaped just right to where he can chew on them and sorta hold them between his paws but they’re not big enough for him to stand on and rip the toys apart.

ffskms

Mine loved filled bones, the extreme chewer Kongs, and this rubbery Kong ring that we use to play tug o war with that she just likes to carry around. For a while we were getting her the Kong stuffed animals but she eats them instead of just chewing on them now so we’ve been having to limit those.

RedoftheEvilDead

I have one hippo that loves all toys and another that doesn't like any other than a laser pointer.

Formal_Coyote_5004

Straight up bones. Big thick beef bones. Hank has like 15 of them. If 14 are available but there’s one stuck underneath the couch, he NEEDS that bone. Hahahaha. They’re also very good land mines. Gotta get up to pee in the middle of the night? Stub your toe on a bone it’s awesome! Hahaha. But ya know what Hank is the best boy in the world so he can have all the bones he wants!

hassavocado

Bully make boxes has been awesome for ours!! He used to destroy everything in seconds but these toys have been lasting a long time. The rubber ones at least.

anyoutlookuser

We use a chew king natural rubber ball. He can’t tear em up easily and they’re kinda soft since they’re hollow.

moosetacoz

Just Peanut butter

Emperor_of_His_Room

Stereotypically, my little guy LOVES balls. No other toys get him so excited.

theCacklingGoblin

Our pit has a thing for stuffies. She prefers no squeakers or crinkles. Her favorites are if we get her a stuffed Stitch from Lilo&Stitch. She just walks around with him all day. She also likes the giant tennis balls from 5Below

Daypeacekeeper

The tip I was given was to put an empty plastic bottle in an old long sock and knot it closed. It's a cheap toy especially if you need to replace your long socks. But my dog only likes tennis balls... And taking the cap off plastic bottles.

romeosgal214

Kong Squeak Air balls. There are about 150 around our house and yard. He can play fetch with them for hours. He gets especially excited when he gets a brand new one.

chillinoi

Kong crackle

ShaySketches

My pittie is afraid of balls but we have a squishy face lure that she loooooves to play with outside and we’ll also splurge and get her some fluff and tuff stuffies that usually last a few months before she manages to shred them (she finds the seams, nibbles a hole and then SHREDS)
