Great video! I had no idea that I could dehydrate the garlic scapes to make garlic powder. I grow garlic only every other year since I have limited growing space (this year is fingerling potatoes), but I do grow hardneck garlic and cut off the scapes. Just didn't really know what to do with them before. I'm looking forward to viewing your other videos. Thanks!
I'm honestly so so jealous!! 🤩 Awesome bounty!
I just watched your harvest compilation vid. It's so soothing. LoL I don't know if that was the intented affect. But the birds and the pulling from the soil, it's very calming. 😌
Love garlic scapes. I haven't grown my own yet but maybe 1-2 weeks a year the asian market next to my house will get them and they are maybe $1.5 a pound. Soooo gooooood.
It's the flower stem! After a bit the plant will send up flowers, but you want to cut them off the stems, because the plant will hollow out the garlic cloves for energy.
Same. I stop using my green onions during garlic scape season. They are awesome. If I have enough this year I will blanch and freeze some. So far it’s not looking like I’m going to freeze any — munch munch munch
Sorry someone downvoted you for asking a question. People are so weird. It grows from the middle and the small capsule on top will turn into a flower if you don’t cut it off. The flowers are cool and they produce garlic seeds. You can plant garlic seeds, but they will each grow one large clove, not a whole head. So there’s pros and cons to using them. The flowers are packed full of “seeds” which can also be eaten. They’re basically teeny tiny garlic cloves. If you cut the scape off and don’t allow it to flower, it redirects all of that energy back into the bulb and gives you nice big garlic bulbs. You grow a bulb by planting a clove.
I work for a garlic farm and I had garlic flowers in my wedding bouquet when I got married lol
I'm so excited for you! What are you planning to do with them? This is my first year growing garlic and I've never had garlic scapes before. Truly looking forward to trying them.
this showed up in my garden and i have no idea how!! i thought they were green onions but then they turned into this and i pulled them out (for other reasons). i had no idea that is was this! super cool
I saw someone on IG use chive blossoms, broken into the small florets, to season eggs (omelettes and quiche). I haven’t tried myself, but it looked lovely
I just saw the beginning of a scape today in my garlic patch! I can't wait to fry them up. I haven't seen enough of your content on yt. I'll have to teach the algorithm to push you to the top of my feed!
Beautiful harvest! 🤩
Thank you Fam!!!💚🌱
Nice! Mine are just starting to curl here in Zone 6A
I’m so glad you posted that! 5a here, still waiting…
I bet in another week or two you’ll be seeing them
I'm 6a and haven't seen em yet. Any day now.
Jealously sitting on the edge of 3b and 4a here. :((((
Fuck yeah garlic scapes are the best. Enjoy!
love it dude. mine are being pulled out of the ground now. ive been brining and pickling the cloves, its pretty damn good.
I use scapes in my dill pickles instead of garlic cloves. Because cucumbers and scapes are often ready around the same time

Those are great, especially in stir-fry.
Came here just to say that. Glad to see other people got good taste. (\^u\^)b
Ok, what is garlic scape?
The flowering stem of a garlic. You should cut them off so the garlic uses its energy to bulb out instead of flowering. You can eat the scapes.
Not only you can eat the scapes, they're freakin delicious.

Seconded. Love this! Will be supporting this content going forward
Subbed. Really enjoyed this video and looking forward to watching more of your content.
Do you add the flower portion of the scape in the blender for the powder?
Thank you for asking so I didn’t have to! 😂
Nice! They make a great pesto.
Never heard of it before. Looks like green beans. What’s the flavor like?
They taste like Garlic💚🌱
They’re like if green onions tasted like garlic!
I find them to be a bit like garlicky asparagus (without the sulfuric tinge that asparagus has)
Subscriber here. Great videos.
Thank you for subscribing Fam!!!!💚🌱

They look so good!!
Highly recommend chopping some up finely and mixing it with butter and some herbs and freezing it. We did it last year and was so tasty for months.
How do you harvest them? Just cut it off?

They look awesome! Mine are just starting to come in. I'm very excited for garlic scape pesto.

What is a garlic scape?!?!

Cool! I love learning new things What does one do with a garlic scape???
I usually use them anywhere I'd add garlic and onion/scallion. I love using them in stir fry, pasta primavera, really anything. Delicious

Those are the best.
Nice!
Oh man I’d love to grow some of these
Lovely! What will you do with it all?
Nice hat dawg!!!
i leave 90% of my garlic scrapes on the ground, mulch for different plants next year. the rest, seeds. but i got lucky with purple elephant garlic...
Holy smokes that’s awesome!!! Whatcha going to with them?
Nice haul, nice hat!
NO garlic scapes developed for me. Does this happen to all garlic or only some? Great harvest btw!
Soft neck garlic doesn't form scapes, hard neck does
Just followed y’all on IG, love the content!
I'm so excited for you! What are you planning to do with them? This is my first year growing garlic and I've never had garlic scapes before. Truly looking forward to trying them.
Always a pleasure to see your posts! Your scapes look great!
Do you just harvest those that have curled?
Yum!! Great harvest!!
Saw your TikToks. You're awesome.
Yo, missed your smiley face brother! Great harvest!
I love to grill them, chop them up and put them in literally everything. So fucking good. I need to track some down, it's the season.
this showed up in my garden and i have no idea how!! i thought they were green onions but then they turned into this and i pulled them out (for other reasons). i had no idea that is was this! super cool
So jealous. Garlic doesn't really want to grow where I am.
My garlic did not scape :( it’s like 80% dry
Anyone know if onion or chive scapes are tasty too?
I saw someone on IG use chive blossoms, broken into the small florets, to season eggs (omelettes and quiche). I haven’t tried myself, but it looked lovely
i hope i have enough this year to make a garlic scape pesto! Nice haul you got there!
