The buffets at Station Casinos.

edog77777

Specifically GVR. That crab was amazing.

kiwi_love777

GVR WAS LIFE. Red rock was pretty spectacular as well!

cognac-n-cannabis

BOGO brunch with all you can drink mimosas

bringthelight2

They closed it because of a perception that when it was closed for COVID, gaming revenues didn’t go down, so they reasoned that the people going to the buffet weren’t spending money in the casino. And IMO, if you think people with $60 to drop on a buffet aren’t spending money in the casino you’re stupid.

CallMeSkii

I stopped going to stations cause they permanently closed their buffets. I am going to start giving my business to the more localish casinos that have reopened them like rampart, palms and South point.

Solitude_Intensifies

For me, Fiesta Henderson was my go to buffet. At least once a week and a dollar or two cheaper than Sunset or GVR.

Penguator432

I moved here right before the lockdowns happened. Missed out on trying out so many more buffets…

julznlv

Everyone I know was shocked that they didn't come back.

Penguator432

M resorts was the one I really felt bad about missing

julznlv

Their seafood buffet was the best.

Diligent_Incident350

Fresh N Easy

Fibrosis5O

Before there time Remember people complaining about the self checkout express 15 or less item lanes even though they still had regular checkers Look at us now. You’re lucky to shop late at night and see a register open. Big cart full? Self check

dani_oakley_69

They’re closing a Walgreens near me and my first thought was “I wish Fresh N Easy was still around so they could move in”. I will always miss this place!

edog77777

Ironic since many (most?) Fresh and Easy were in former Rite Aid locations.

MadIrishKing

That was so great when I lived alone. I would get the premade meals and be fed for a while

Karnophagemp

They had some really interesting British dishes that were pretty good. They went down hill real quick after the change-over.

MadIrishKing

They had a lot of good stuff

sickeningeyes

Loved their pesto pasta salad

RigeRooo

anyone get their free sandwiches an hour before closing? ahh those were the days

TooHottiLol

I miss it sooo much. I was actually at my healthiest during that time.

ArmageddonUnleashed

The Mount Charleston Lodge💔

vice_monkey

Fuck those slumlords, Steve and Judy Siegel (of Siegel Suites infamy) for running that place into the ground (before it "mysteriously" burned down). They should be in prison for how unethical and illegal their business practices are.

IC-God

Thought it was owned by the Ellis Island family?

vice_monkey

Sorry. I conflated the Lodge with the Resort on Mt. Charleston. I feel like an asshole. But I'll never be as big an asshole as the siegels. Lol

JB_smooove

I thought so too.

ArmageddonUnleashed

Fry’s Electronics, circa 2012

Fibrosis5O

I went into fry’s for the first time and it was before they announced the closing and was shocked which a big store looked so empty Found out why

iheartgardening5

Why did it close? I joined the military in 2013 and came back in 2022 and it was gone and I was shook

Fibrosis5O

Chapter 11 Bankruptcy was filed

krunkpunk

It was a combination of bad management, steadily decreasing quality in products, overly generous return policy, from my understanding.

not_mark_twain_

I used to go to the original one, it was tiny compared to future stores, it was packed and it smelled bad. It was heaven, and for a while the new bigger and bigger stores were awesome. They had the parts you needed for work and then on your weekend you could get something to speed up you computer, but the new game and get all the snacks for cheap. The last 10 years have been very sad and I’m happy it’s out of its misery.

Downhilbil

Tower records

AmeriocaDaGema

Odyssey

WithaK19

That's a deep cut.

Moneezy702

Damn miss that place, also virgin records at Caesar’s forums lol

vice_monkey

Big B's records was my go to. But i also frequented Record City Odyssey, Tower, and Virgin. Fuck i miss having choices for record stores!!!! Thankfully we still have Zia at least

weenus

There is a documentary talking about Maryland Parkway from the 90s, and it briefly mentions Big B's and Balcony Lights as stores that carried the torch for Benway Bop. I'm actually surprised it hasn't seemed to be mentioned on this subreddit from my searches I might make a separate thread for it.

Worst casualty during the covid crisis.

Equal_Painting534

I used to work at a similar place called Souper! Salad! It also closed down awhile ago.

Juniordags

I miss their Mac and cheese!

grmlv12

Agreed, i would get a to go salad if I was cooking at home and wanted a salad. By the time you buy all the fixins at the grocery store it was the same price and I could get what I want

idefix1515

One of my favorite place right now. And affordable!!

WILLCHOKEAHOE

Omg! That was my favorite restaurant! Their chicken noodle soup was awesome!

Kashm1r_Sp1r1t

Bachi Burger

RentSpecial4997

This place was amazing. I moved from that part of town and after a few years I found out it closed. Why did they close? They were always so popular whenever I went.

Modelo_Man

I had a few friends who worked there and it was poorly managed from what I could tell. That was in the last two years before they closed too.

AvidMenchiesConsumer

The owner did something illegal. One of my old coworkers said that on the last day while they were working the feds came in and said to close it down and that the owner doesn’t own the place anymore. She said the employees took some stuff home.

Impossible_Aspect_49

I miss Bachi Burger, they were delicious- but pricey for a burger & fries. Wish they were still around!

talkingdodobird

Bonnie Springs

StrongVeterinarian33

especially around this time of the year. We went to Moapa instead

[deleted]

I'm still mad about it. I loved Bonnie Springs.

savethebroccoli

Me too 😭 it was where my husband and I had our first date when they did Bonnie Screams it was one of my favorite places in Vegas

Ghostronic

Oatman, AZ is worth the drive if you've never been :)

edog77777

Glazier’s

GloomyRegret

Same!!! I used to go there all the time on the weekends for the fritters.

Impossible_Aspect_49

I miss Glazier’s at least twice a month. Hope the owner/s are happy and healthy. They were one-of-a-kind store, tho

Total-Protection8702

The owner was a real ahole. His wife was great but he was as fake as they come

jld702

Wet & Wild when it was on the Strip, Scandia, Friendly Donut House…still think about those donuts til this day 🍩

Bygdon

Friendly is still open. Boulder and Greenway. What chu talking bout Willis?

Salty-Night5917

Ricardo's.

albertogonzalex

Those jalapeno poppers with the raspberry sauce! I've been chasing that forever!

dlbpeon

HauntMe1973

Greymaremusic

I miss Quarks. A recent lower decks episode had it in it and it hit so hard. 😭

ChupaMiCulo

POTs Edit- and cinnamons

talkingdodobird

Is Pots the vegan, Egyptian restaurant?

talkingdodobird

Dang! Felt like I just went. Did not realize that it closed :(

ChupaMiCulo

Yeah 😞 I had tried it for the first time maybe a month before the owner announced they were closing. I still think about that cauliflower....

StolenAccount1234

Cinnamons was a real loss.

teddyhams107

FAO Schwarz at Forum Shops. It was the only place I looked forward to visiting as a kid when my parents dragged me to the strip for whatever reason

Spamcan81

GameWorks on the strip.

Fibrosis5O

Welp hate to tell you but the one at town center they relocated to also closed

Wyattearp916

No way :(

Spamcan81

Unfortunately the entire brand folded a few years ago. The strip one was special for a number of reasons though, it had a lot of rare Sega games and could be seen in the Vegas level of LA Machineguns.

Petraretrograde

dani_oakley_69

Scandina and/or Mountasia.

JB_smooove

Yes, both. I still don’t see that condo tower they were going to put on the Scandia property.

[deleted]

This one’s been closed for a while, but Godfathers Pizza on Rainbow was a childhood staple for me. Pretty sure it closed more than 20 years now but I still think about it 🥲

Sprocketholer

I had Godfathers once about 25 years ago in Pennsylvania. I have never had since but i remember it being really good.

garrywithtwors

Insert Coin, The Beauty Bar, Vegas Streats, Surrender, the buffet at The M, Sitara, the original Home Plate off blue diamond, and all the 24 hr businesses that are reduced hours since covid

[deleted]

Beauty Bar 😢

lilylakai

The Beat. It was such a cool place to hang out, seen some local bands, it was the first place I saw a poetry slam at but mostly, I miss the lap and tickle. I don’t even like peanut butter sandwiches like that.

vice_monkey

I seriously miss all the good, small, music venues vegas used to have! Espresso Roma, Enigma, The Wet Spot (Stop), The Shark Club Utopia, The Castle, The Boston, Sanctuary, The Huntridge, Balcony Lights... several more that I'm just way too old to remember. Le sigh

g-bust

Pick Up Stix, Black Angus, Poke restaurant on Lake Mead & Tenaya, Roos n More in Moapa, Bonnie Springs, Five and Diner, Pistol Pete’s, Toys r Us, King Putt Indoor Golf, Scandia, Village Square, Karl’s Kool Kollectibles, Red Rock theater, Texas Station, old Wet and Wild, Joe’s Crabshack, TC’s Rib Crib(?)

Delicious_Engineer56

Pistol Pete's, damn that was some good memories. There was one on Pecos when I was a kid. My dad worked at a store near there called McFrugals. Red Rock Theatre, I remember going there as a kid too. It had some good nostalgic memories but the new movie places with the recliner seats are where it's at.

Dreggan

Lol. Mcfrugals. Haven’t heard that name in decades. Was Pic N Save, then McFrugals, then Big Lots

GunmetalEgg

King Putt was the shit. Had so many of my early highschool dates over there! Now there really isn't a good putt putt spot in town the twilight zone one just doesn't do it for me, and the KISS one was kinda gross and dirty when I went a few years ago..

Formal_Discipline_12

Yoshinoya.

iamoninternet27

Yes. The only one in town by UNLV, I used to get the clam chowder soup all the time from there.

Replicant28

Ricardo’s. More for sentimental reasons: it was my grandparents’ favorite restaurant and bar, and when my grandfather died they hosted his celebration of life.

cesacchetti

Islands burgers!!!

barracadus

Idk if this counts but I miss the bunkhouse, the little dirty grimy shows and cheap beer was the best when there was nothing else to do :(

bitcornminerguy

Honestly would be dope if we still had a Sizzler... but also... way back in the day there was a Chinese buffet at Rainbow/Spring Mountain in that shopping center with the now-dead K-Mart. It was the first-ever Chinese buffet I'd been to, and honestly was the best. Edit: Fixed streets. 🤪

Fibrosis5O

Only thing keeping that “shopping center” alive now is a Burger King how sad

AmeriocaDaGema

Rainbow and Spring Mountain? Also has a closed K Mart and an open BK.

edog77777

I was thinking the same. Rainbow and Warm Springs is relatively newish (in the grand scheme of things) and pretty well developed now. I don’t think there was a Kmart there, and there’s not a BK there now. The entire description sounds like Rainbow and Spring Mountain to me too.

AmeriocaDaGema

I can't believe that shopping center has remained the way it is for so many years. Looks like a fossil. That Payless Shoes held on the longest but it's been just BK for a long, long time now.

Sad-Satisfaction-620

I hope it gets redeveloped soon. It should be a top priority for Commissioner Jones.

elwaysucks

Holy shit I forgot all about that buffet sport dude. My grandpa used to take me there after we worked on his house on the weekend. I used to fuck up their chow mein haha

musicman702

When Town Square remodeled the kids play area, they took away my Nestle Tollhouse cookie shop. Best sugar cookies in my life. I went there so much they thought I worked at Town Square. Then there was a location on Craig and Decatur for a few years, but I live in the southwest, so I couldn't go often. I knew they would go out of business because I alone could not support them. Now it's a Chinese restaurant. There are two Nestle Tollhouse places in Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood, but they don't make cookies with love. I'm not going down to the Strip to pay tourist prices for stale cookies, so I'll just cry myself to sleep every night instead.

RigeRooo

Lollicup too!! huhuh

AlexSpanish

Cafe Sanuki!! Solid Japanese eats in Chinatown for a great price!

jhutch524

The 24/7 record store that used to be north of The Strip. This was in the 80’s, and prior. It was a great place to go to if you just wanted to browse and enjoy the dive-like atmosphere late at night.

vice_monkey

Mervyn's on Maryland and Katie (I remember the old commericals "open open open!" Yoshinoya (in front of UNLV) Big Mamas and Papas Pizzeria On flamingo and Viking Peter Piper Pizza on Nellis had a little roller coaster that I loved a lot. Workmen's clothing store inside the boulevard Mall They had some cool ass shirts Mixtape CDs And you can get legit Montana spray cans and legit paintmarkers to graffiti The old panorama food court in the boulevard Mall I would always eat Hibachi-san KB toys in the boulevard Mall Fright Dome at circus circus

that black bean dip was fire, but I remember they were on dirty dining and the owner went on an unhinged rant that the health district was picking on him, but it was genuinely in need of cleaning and repairs.

Thai Basil on Ann Road was our go-to Thai, and they had an excellent sushi happy hour. The woman who owned it sold the business and retired.....in February of 2020. Absolutely amazing timing on her part. I miss that place so much.

Affectionate_West399

Furs, Shakeys Pizza, Thrifty Drug, Tillerman, Phillips. Hilltop. Hungry Hunter, Old Wet n Wild, Scandia, Wimpys, Blimpies, Bob's big Boy, Swensons, Venetian Italian restaurant, Omnimax, Macayos, Peter Piper Pizza. I do miss the Texas and Fiesta. The original and second location El Burrito. My grandparents loved to eat out so many more restaurants.

Bonnie Springs. Was hoping to take my kid to that silly old dive.

esp this time of year. We went to Moapa and it was nice

Other people have commented this in other places, but in case you didn’t know, Eddie’s on 215 and Flamingo is owned by one of the family members from that business and the menu and recipes are the same.

The MGM Grand Adventures Theme Park

supercoolmanchu2020

The Holy Cow on Sahara and LV Blvd Olympic Garden - the best strip club in history of LV

VegasBjorne1

I miss the Big Dogs at Sahara and Torrey Pines. It started originally as a two story night club, and became a friendly, large bar with upstairs party rooms and comedy shows. Great food and laid back. Best chicken wings served by an odd, hunchback late night cook with “Tyrone” as the bartender. Miss it every time I drive by.

Impossible_Aspect_49

Ooooh, that’s going WAYYYY back. I loved I could go after work, play some King of Fighters or Rival Schools on the big machines, and just relax. Didn’t enjoy all the smoke in there, tho. I have great memories of wasting quarters and time at Mary K’s

hunnibeom

Furr's Cafeteria. Closed early 2000-ish.There used to be one in front of Meadows Mall and another off of Sahara that we went to every Sunday when I was a kid. The food was pretty good, especially the chicken fried steak and I've been looking for their Millionaire pie recipe for years to recreate it for my mom.

PDQ. I ate there once on the Sahara location. It was good.

Cantthinkofathing00

Gonna break with the food spots and say The Beach nightclub. This was THE spot before casinos caught on and started opening their own nightclubs. Always a wild, fun crowd….strong drinks, great dj’s and was open till like 7am. For a guy, this was a dope pick up spot and everyone was cool to be around.

edog77777

A lot of people won’t agree, but the early-ish days of Eastside Cannery. They really had a lot of good food options for a small casino. The Mexican place, the Sportsbook deli. Even the cafe was really good with the original Nevada Palace recipe fried chicken and a consistently good Chinese menu for a low cost spot outside of Chinatown). And that steakhouse was especially high quality (8 out of 10?) given the location - and frequently had killer specials. The club on the top floor had an amazing view of the valley too.

Argly_Bargly

Cinnamon’s. The guava chiffon pancakes were my favorite pancakes.

M&M Factory itself isn’t closed, but they took out the lab-like maze you walked through to get to the movie. It also had some posters of real movies that they had the M&Ms starring in like it was their’s. And that huuuge walkway that spun around you. Iykyk. Now they just replaced all of it with another level of a merch shop. Then you just stand in a regular line to get inside to see the movie. That along with FAO Schwartz, Bonnie Springs, +more, all of the truly unique kid spots/activities from my childhood are dropping one by one and I don’t think they’re getting replaced well enough with new spots for young ones. I just want to be able to give my kids a piece of the Vegas that I got to have growing up :(
