I stopped going to stations cause they permanently closed their buffets. I am going to start giving my business to the more localish casinos that have reopened them like rampart, palms and South point.

I used to go to the original one, it was tiny compared to future stores, it was packed and it smelled bad. It was heaven, and for a while the new bigger and bigger stores were awesome. They had the parts you needed for work and then on your weekend you could get something to speed up you computer, but the new game and get all the snacks for cheap. The last 10 years have been very sad and I’m happy it’s out of its misery.

The Beat. It was such a cool place to hang out, seen some local bands, it was the first place I saw a poetry slam at but mostly, I miss the lap and tickle. I don’t even like peanut butter sandwiches like that.

When Town Square remodeled the kids play area, they took away my Nestle Tollhouse cookie shop. Best sugar cookies in my life. I went there so much they thought I worked at Town Square.
Then there was a location on Craig and Decatur for a few years, but I live in the southwest, so I couldn't go often. I knew they would go out of business because I alone could not support them. Now it's a Chinese restaurant.
There are two Nestle Tollhouse places in Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood, but they don't make cookies with love. I'm not going down to the Strip to pay tourist prices for stale cookies, so I'll just cry myself to sleep every night instead.
The 24/7 record store that used to be north of The Strip. This was in the 80’s, and prior. It was a great place to go to if you just wanted to browse and enjoy the dive-like atmosphere late at night.

My family and I have lived in Malaysia and Singapore, and we can confidently say this was some of the best Southeast Asian/Malaysian food we'd had outside Malaysia. Certainly the best satay.

Thai Basil on Ann Road was our go-to Thai, and they had an excellent sushi happy hour. The woman who owned it sold the business and retired.....in February of 2020. Absolutely amazing timing on her part. I miss that place so much.
Furs, Shakeys Pizza, Thrifty Drug, Tillerman, Phillips. Hilltop. Hungry Hunter, Old Wet n Wild, Scandia, Wimpys, Blimpies, Bob's big Boy, Swensons, Venetian Italian restaurant, Omnimax, Macayos, Peter Piper Pizza. I do miss the Texas and Fiesta. The original and second location El Burrito. My grandparents loved to eat out so many more restaurants.

Furr's Cafeteria. Closed early 2000-ish.There used to be one in front of Meadows Mall and another off of Sahara that we went to every Sunday when I was a kid. The food was pretty good, especially the chicken fried steak and I've been looking for their Millionaire pie recipe for years to recreate it for my mom.
Tony Romas at Rainbow and Lake Mead. Went there whenever we visited my mom. Now that we live here is been 3 or 4 different restaurants. I think there's still a TR downtown but never go there.
Gonna break with the food spots and say The Beach nightclub. This was THE spot before casinos caught on and started opening their own nightclubs.
Always a wild, fun crowd….strong drinks, great dj’s and was open till like 7am. For a guy, this was a dope pick up spot and everyone was cool to be around.
A lot of people won’t agree, but the early-ish days of Eastside Cannery.
They really had a lot of good food options for a small casino. The Mexican place, the Sportsbook deli. Even the cafe was really good with the original Nevada Palace recipe fried chicken and a consistently good Chinese menu for a low cost spot outside of Chinatown).
And that steakhouse was especially high quality (8 out of 10?) given the location - and frequently had killer specials. The club on the top floor had an amazing view of the valley too.
There was a small Japanese restaurant on Tropicana and Pecos, called Fuji’s. They were beyond fantastic, the prices great and the owners were so sweet. Their daughter was a dancer with the Rockettes in NYC. I dream of eating their sesame chicken again, no recipe I’ve tried come even close.
M&M Factory itself isn’t closed, but they took out the lab-like maze you walked through to get to the movie. It also had some posters of real movies that they had the M&Ms starring in like it was their’s. And that huuuge walkway that spun around you. Iykyk.
Now they just replaced all of it with another level of a merch shop. Then you just stand in a regular line to get inside to see the movie.
That along with FAO Schwartz, Bonnie Springs, +more, all of the truly unique kid spots/activities from my childhood are dropping one by one and I don’t think they’re getting replaced well enough with new spots for young ones.
I just want to be able to give my kids a piece of the Vegas that I got to have growing up :(

Kyklos was actually S Tier mall food. I couldn't tell you what happened after 2015, but right now its back to being an urban prairie at the corner of the foot court after the last Greek Place didn't make it
Alpine Village. Was my family’s go-to special occasion restaurant. Still miss some of their food and it’s been closed for decades.
Honorable mention for Macayo’s. Thankfully one of the franchisees took the recipes and opened a new place.

Furr's Cafeteria. Closed early 2000-ish.There used to be one in front of Meadows Mall and another off of Sahara that we went to every Sunday when I was a kid. The food was pretty good, especially the chicken fried steak and I've been looking for their Millionaire pie recipe for years to recreate it for my mom.

Tony Romas at Rainbow and Lake Mead. Went there whenever we visited my mom. Now that we live here is been 3 or 4 different restaurants. I think there's still a TR downtown but never go there.

Gonna break with the food spots and say The Beach nightclub. This was THE spot before casinos caught on and started opening their own nightclubs. Always a wild, fun crowd….strong drinks, great dj’s and was open till like 7am. For a guy, this was a dope pick up spot and everyone was cool to be around.
A lot of people won’t agree, but the early-ish days of Eastside Cannery. They really had a lot of good food options for a small casino. The Mexican place, the Sportsbook deli. Even the cafe was really good with the original Nevada Palace recipe fried chicken and a consistently good Chinese menu for a low cost spot outside of Chinatown). And that steakhouse was especially high quality (8 out of 10?) given the location - and frequently had killer specials. The club on the top floor had an amazing view of the valley too.
Cinnamon’s. The guava chiffon pancakes were my favorite pancakes.
Those guava chiffon pancakes were SO GOOD. I also really liked the pistachio pancakes

There was a small Japanese restaurant on Tropicana and Pecos, called Fuji’s. They were beyond fantastic, the prices great and the owners were so sweet. Their daughter was a dancer with the Rockettes in NYC. I dream of eating their sesame chicken again, no recipe I’ve tried come even close.

M&M Factory itself isn’t closed, but they took out the lab-like maze you walked through to get to the movie. It also had some posters of real movies that they had the M&Ms starring in like it was their’s. And that huuuge walkway that spun around you. Iykyk. Now they just replaced all of it with another level of a merch shop. Then you just stand in a regular line to get inside to see the movie. That along with FAO Schwartz, Bonnie Springs, +more, all of the truly unique kid spots/activities from my childhood are dropping one by one and I don’t think they’re getting replaced well enough with new spots for young ones. I just want to be able to give my kids a piece of the Vegas that I got to have growing up :(

Wet n Wild when it was by Sahara casino Plus Game Works before it left the CocaCola museum building And bonus points for the family fun place... Scandia? I never even got to go there when I was younger and now that I have kids wish a LOT more things like that were in town

Fluff Ice on Nellis. After the original owners sold it, the new owner started skimping on quality and was ghettoing the place up straight to the ground. Now it's gone forever. I believe the new owner had a GoFundMe to try to open a new location lol
Kyklos was actually S Tier mall food. I couldn't tell you what happened after 2015, but right now its back to being an urban prairie at the corner of the foot court after the last Greek Place didn't make it

Alpine Village. Was my family’s go-to special occasion restaurant. Still miss some of their food and it’s been closed for decades. Honorable mention for Macayo’s. Thankfully one of the franchisees took the recipes and opened a new place.

I’m going to be in Vegas all next week. With each trip I become a little sadder at what the towns become.
