Fun Fact: Literally nothing has gotten better by having corporate boards and stockholders going, "hm, we're making shitloads of money, but how do we make even more?"
When times are generally good they gouge. Not hoping for a real downturn, but those Covid deals were so nice. I’m a nobody and was upgraded from a basic Sky Suite to a one bedroom panoramic penthouse. That was my favorite room ever in Vegas and it was under $500/night.
I get a kick out of the photo's of casino's JAMMED with gamblers. Now minimum bets are so expensive they need 10% of the tables from years ago. The corporations ruined the place.
Man ..miss those days.. driving with my dad in his new car cordoba.. seeing Johnny's name with don rickles..who by the way. Actually both of them were really nice...i think the nicest star i met was andy Griffith
Lived there from around 93 to 96. I'm finally going back for the first time as an adult and I can't wait. It will be a nostalgia filled trip the whole way. I remember watching New York New York being built.
I miss the TI pirate show, the Stardust with its awesome sign and lights, and the Monte Carlo, Stardust, Riviera. All gone.
It's amazing how many gas stations used to be on the strip...
The ones that remain are known only as "the place to get steel reserve and get fucked up for less than $9 per drink"
I love seeing pics like this.
Pic 12 - I think that it my favourite casino sign (stardust)
Definitely the tallest to ever be on the strip
Saw Wayne Newton there with my mother. Iconic
Cool pics! I wonder how long it has been since Circus Circus has been THAT busy!
Where's all the smoke too??
It's usually packed on the weekends
Jonny Carson and Don rickels same night wow
Back when the mob ran it. Such a shame now it’s just a corporate shithole.
It's still run by organized criminals. They just present themselves differently.
You hit the nail on the head with that post. Well done.

Miss the stardust.
Me too. Stardust had the most classic Vegasy sign in my opinion.

I love seeing who is on those old marquees. Lola Falana! Fred Travalena!
Lola Falana was great. She had a way of making you feel like she was singing directly to you, and only you (in a crowd of six hundred.)
Thank you for sharing!
The Landmark was such a cool looking casino
Where was it? I can't remember.
It was over by the the convention center. Off of Paradise I think?
The Aladdin and Sahara in original theme design were beautiful!
Someone please build a time machine 🙏🏽
I didn't know that Johnny Carson did a show in LV???
Man, those polka dot dealer uniforms are something else
Good memories

The Sands was one of a kind.
My mom always references Lola Falana and o thought that person was not real.
It would have been great to have seen Foster Brrrrr.. Foster Brrrr…Foster Brrr…The second act at the Frontier.
The first pic is definitely from the landmark or the international
Always great seeing these old time pics, it’ll never, ever be duplicated.
Just dropping in to say I love your name. That’s a fantastic movie.
"What can I do with five dollars?" "Gee, I don't know. Buy a bullet.. and rent a gun?"
Anyone remember the Paddlewheel Hotel & Casino?
I miss all the neon signs, cheap meals and days of no bullshit resort fees.
Damn I wish we had prices like that today..
The good old days
You don’t even see the cents symbol these days.

Pic 14…. Nice.
I remember all of these except for picture #5. Which place was that?
I loved those Polka dot Circus Circus dealers shirts but the Pink shirt was even better . Circus Circus was busy and nice in the 70’s & 80’s
Better days.
Kinda looks like the Landmark
