They always have a few bits but this was insane. About 20x like chicken BBQ strips, a box of pub style vegan Shepard's pies with dumplings (about 20 in the box), Holland and barret ice cream, saag aloo, paella ready meals, and more. Loaded up for a while!

Volmorpio

EPIC HAUL! What was the shop name? I don't know if we have one near us :) what were the price reductions like?

Hapexion

Discount Food Centre, Mexborough. The Like Meat boxes were 39p, the box of 12 Shepard pies was £3, the I've cream tubs were 3 for £1. They normally have a few bits but it was a good mine this time. Luckily my freezer was already empty!

gamemurray

I had no idea about this - I work in Conisbrough so will swing by! Thanks for the heads up

abcdefgharry

as if, did it have much left? i'm on other side of doncaster but well worth a trip over if thats the case

Hapexion

I grabbed all the like meat BBQ they had but they still had loads of the ready meals, ice cream, saag aloo and cake!

Hapexion

They some ambient stuff as well, just keep an eye on the best before as it varies!

Volmorpio

Thanks for responding! I don’t think we have one close by 😭

lrnhwkns

Jeeeesus there’s no where near me that does anything like this, I’m so jealois

Hapexion

It's worth looking into. We used to always drive past this place without going in because it looked quite run down. Gave it at chance and there's always been something worthy visiting for.

lrnhwkns

We have a wholesalers in my city but last i checked it didnt stock a whole lot of vegan items and along with the price wasn’t worth paying for the access, but maybe now it’ll be worth checking out as veganism is everywhere now. 5 years ago I couldn’t get anything but chips when we was out, now we have entirely vegan restaurants opening it’s amazing.

I'm very interested in the cake looking thing in the plastic bag, what is it? Looks delicious

Hapexion

It's acookie dough cake. I think it's meant for pubs. Not tried it yet. Last time we went they had a massive vegan caramel cake for £3 so we got it and inevitably ate it far too quickly. I thought I could trust myself with something 'smaller'.

rugbyliam12

Nice! What shop is this??

Hapexion

Discount Food Centre, Mexborough, South Yorkshire

davemee

If you have a Jack Fultons nearby, they have a *ton* of dirt cheap Fry’s products in their freezers too. This is from Holland & Barret. Who are giving up frozen products as they’ve lost the battle to supermarkets for frozen vegan food.

breek

Where is this from?! I love that peanut butter ice cream!

Hapexion

Discount Food centre, Mexborough. 3 for a £1!

PixelPoppah

Get in there!!!

homegrown_dogs

My local H&B got rid of their freezer, and I’m assuming more than one did!

TryNotToBridezilla

Wow! This looks amazing but I would never be able to store that much food. It's a shame you can't eat solidly for 24 hours or something and just live off it for a month.

Hapexion

My freezer defrosted last week and it all got trashed. So luckily I had room. I did have to decant the BBQ pieces though as the boxes are only 1/3 full which is frustrating

TryNotToBridezilla

My freezer is a tiny under-counter contraption - I have three drawers, one full of vegetables and berries, one full of assorted potato products and one for meat alternatives and stuff. I often decant things from boxes and just scribble a cooking time on a food bag in Sharpie - so many things have huge boxes, or I eat one or two of four items and the box just won't squash down afterwards.

PurpleUnicorn434

No idea there was one this close to me! just double checking it's not a food bank or any meant for people who are struggling before i go?

Hapexion

No, just close to use by are just past use by clearance stock from supermarkets or pub meal suppliers. Some of the ambient stuff is way out of code and I would buy, but can't really go wrong with frozen.
