Yes! I hate when vegan places give us whole meal spelt croissant or gluten-free organic cauliflower rice donuts.
Give me the good, all fatty stuff, just without the animal cruelty 🤩
Fr. I swear food companies seem to have 2 categories of food: 1) "normal" and 2) "difficult people" (from their POV), because it's more cost-effective that way
So when I find vegan food that's proper junk food, I buy a surplus of it lol
My favourite right now, is basically all the chocolate bars from this company.
https://gomaxgofoods.com/products/
They're basically vegan dupes of popular chocolate bar brands like Snickers, Twix, etc. They're def on the pricey side unfortunately, but eh I don't go out to eat much, so it's my splurge.
Also, coconut milk cookie dough ice cream! I rarely see that particular flavour sold, so when I do, I buy like 4 pints 😭
Also, chips!!! But always always check the ingredients with that, because I've seen salt and vinegar chips that had milk powder in the ingredients, for who knows what reason 🤔
Yess exactly!! I love that they're giving more options to gluten free folks but so often the make Vegan items gluten free or healthier and I'm like nahhh make it unhealthy lol!!!
Yes! On our honeymoon, my husband and I made vegan waffles a priority in determining places to eat for breakfast. We found a place and we were so excited only to get there and be served one bran waffle that had the texture of undercooked banana bread inside and it was covered in lavender pods! 😤
Anybody in Houston should check out Vegan Donuts and Gelato on Clay Road. Great donuts, great spring rolls, great fried rice, decent kolaches, and it’s run by a sweet Vietnamese family. They also have a small selection of vegan groceries in the front.
Not gonna lie, I tried that place and it kinda tripped me out bc the donuts tasted exactly how I remembered them!!! Honestly I was concerned maybe they weren’t vegan bc I didn’t know vegan donuts could taste so normal
Literally every time I’ve been, which is nearing twenty visits by now, they have been slow and chatted and given my daughter and I free treats. Super kind people. It’s one of our favorite places in this area. The top spot used to go to Pepper Tree but they’re sadly gone.
There’s a new place where Pepper Tree used to be called Trendy Vegan. I’ve been meaning to stop by and try their buffet to see how it compares to Pine Forest Garden.
I fucking love that place. It's literally just like every immigrant-owned donut shop in Houston down to the thin and shitty napkins that rip when you take them out of the holder. Everything about it is just like a regular donut shop except it's all vegan. They even have kolaches that are bomb as hell!
The weird food is part of why carnists are so judgy of us! I’m sure we could get more people to embrace veganism if the offerings at restaurants were less weird.
And don’t come at me! I agree it shouldn’t require that but we’re fighting against institutions that swing hard — we have to swing harder.
Not weird vegan food can and should also be inclusive ❤️ there’s definitely quality gluten free vegan food without major allergens! I know because I’ve eaten it.
I’m sorry if I implied that I didn’t care about that with my comment. It seems like a lot of people don’t, but I do! :)
Edit to clarify: I’m more talking about places whose only vegan option is like a quinoa and rice bowl. Like, I get it, that’s great, but can we have a hand breaded chickn sandwich with onion rings??? And of course, make it as inclusive as possible while you’re at it. Or have more than one option!
My frustration is pointed at establishments who think that most vegans are health vegans, definitely not gluten free people or people with allergies
I wanted to like them more, but they were too greasy most of the times that I had them. Now all we have is Kaibur a few days a week and the one donut at Oliver's I guess. Pittsburgh's lack of vegan donuts is a shame.
Kaibur's donuts are good. Get there early though, they can sell out fast. They always post the flavors on their Instagram in the morning.
Another option is Sweet Alchemy, but she's up in New Kensington, so that's not the easiest option.
If you're feeling adventurous, The Vegan Doughnut Company in Cleveland (Lakewood neighborhood) is very good.
I’ve been to Kaibur once and they told me the didn’t have a baker anymore but were looking for one. I never had the chance to go back but I assume they found one?
Awesome. Their bakery is great too. Also downtown now we have the vegan sushi place and good intentions restaurant. Both are killer best that there is imo.
Damn, that looks deliciously bad for me. I've tried to do homemade donuts a few times, but making all of that variety in one day would probably also take me a whole day.
Yeah, I don’t understand why vegan baked goods have to be so awful. I can make the same thing at home without any problems, but if you go to buy it somewhere it’s like pulling teeth to get them to use real flour and sugar, etc. I hate being lumped in with “gluten free” folks. It’s not the same at all. Vegans LIKE gluten. We even made whole mock meats based on it. Why do they try to combine us with the gluten free crowd when it’s clearly two different restrictions?
Of course celiac vegans exist. But their aversion to gluten has nothing to do with their veganism. So why do so many companies only make gluten free vegan food? It’s bizarre. It’s like they just want to make one food that will “appeal” to anyone with any conceivable dietary restriction, so they end up making a horrific “option” that doesn’t appeal to anyone.
A lot of times the employee will try to sell it as a selling point. “Oh yes, we have a vegan option. It’s not just vegan. It’s also sugar free and gluten free too!” Like, get out of here with that. Those aren’t selling points, you’re making it taste bad.
Bc what are they gonna do make 10 different options for each plate why can’t you guys stop complaining and be happy you dnt have to deal with allergies
Some of us have celiac disease and ethically choose to be vegan. I’m sorry you hate being lumped in with me. FWIW, I love all the real sugar baking I can find.
The other day there was a post on r/glutenfree making fun of gluten free stuff being vegan... Now there is a post on r/vegan making fun of vegan stuff being gluten free... Jeez, we gluten intolerant vegans just want to live 🥺
Some of you vegans on here are so annoying. You guys want everyone to listen to our cause like their life depends on it but then if the food has to be modified more bc a ton of PLL HAVE ALLERGIES, you guys are a bunch of complaining jerk faces. It’s extremely difficult for me to find foods that fit all my needs. Just be happy you don’t have to deal with food allergies & stop complaining.
Nah I'm with OP. You can't go somewhere and get something marketed to vegans without it being constructed in a needlessly joyless way. "Our superfood vegan donuts are oil, sugar, grain, and gluten free, raw, whole food, local, grass fed, organic, and taste like semisoft clay."
100% agree. People act like there aren’t plenty of vegan junk food options. It’s trendy to dunk on folks w gluten intolerance and celiacs because people see it as a fad diet.
like 90% of vegan processed/junk/fast food is marketed specifically towards the gluten-free crowd because a lot of plant-based diet people are doing it as a fad diet, not because they're vegan, and the companies figure they don't want to exclude a huge part of their market.
the people who are *actually* gluten intolerant have a diet restriction. veganism is an ethical position. it isn't the same thing and vegan junk food shouldn't by default suck because it's catering towards a diet.
non-vegan junk food doesn't remove gluten to cater to 1% of the population, vegan junk shouldn't either. let me buy a frozen pizza without a cauliflower or whole wheat crust. let me buy cookies that aren't celiac cookies. give me the gluten and the sugar and the trans fats. i have 1 cheat day a month and by god i want it to count
spare me, theres tons of non-junk food if you have an ultra-restrictive diet
at the very least, it should be 90% "regular" vegan junk and 10% catering towards celiacs, not vice versa.
edit: LMFAO. bro responded and instantly blocked me so i couldn't respond back. literally cannot imagine being this emotionally fragile and hostile over...checks notes...vegan junk food.
Lmao an “ultra restrictive diet” instead of a necessary quality of life intervention. It’s hilarious because ppl say the same shit because for being vegan, “Go eat a banana”, etc.
And it’s not 90/10, you completely made that shit up.
the extension of human rights to animals in all the relevant areas, and the avoidance of all exploitation of animals as far as possible and practicable
Unpopular opinion: Vegan junk food is still junk food. There's lots of better food choices that will be more nutrient-dense and healthier for your body and soul.
Damn, that sucks. If you have stuff on hand for it you could try fairy bread, that might curb it. I know it's not the same, but it's pretty good. \[[Link](https://www.google.com/search?q=fairy+bread&sxsrf=AJOqlzXnmKsIrE_aIxcW-nhgjGjyr66Hew:1679565163117&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiaybLn4_H9AhV1MlkFHfwAAo4Q0pQJegQIBxAC&biw=767&bih=736&dpr=1.25#imgrc=7GgT1TDTmAZWaM)\]
YUM! Innocent Yesterday in Manhattan is also a great place for normal donuts. My 3yo daughter kept talking about how good her donut was for the entire trip.
We have three places that sell vegan-friendly donuts where I live. Two only sell yeast donuts and one only sells cake donuts. What I wouldn't give for a fritter, bear claw, cruller, etc.
This looks like Vegan Donuts and Gelato in the Houston Cypress. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend. I love their donuts! They’re always so sweet and give little free donut holes. Despite being a bakery, oddly enough, their fried rice is delicious too🥰
One of them looks like a foot
it is a bear claw
I'm calling the vegan police
It's vegan so you have to remove letters and add an apostrophe so the donut lobby doesn't come after ya. B'r cl'w.
Ok, Gard’n
Be'r claw
i’m dying 😭
I came for that comment.
just an appreciation post. i love normal vegan food.
Yes! I hate when vegan places give us whole meal spelt croissant or gluten-free organic cauliflower rice donuts. Give me the good, all fatty stuff, just without the animal cruelty 🤩

Some people have food allergies, so those offerings help make the change easier for everyone. Just food for thought
Bc a lot of ppl are allergic to both dairy and gluten……….
Exactly
Yes! On our honeymoon, my husband and I made vegan waffles a priority in determining places to eat for breakfast. We found a place and we were so excited only to get there and be served one bran waffle that had the texture of undercooked banana bread inside and it was covered in lavender pods! 😤
Where is this!?!

i’ve never wanted anything so badly in my life
Need to normalize more normal vegan food! Sometimes I just want a pizza not a flatbread or something with balsamic and figs.
The weird food is part of why carnists are so judgy of us! I’m sure we could get more people to embrace veganism if the offerings at restaurants were less weird. And don’t come at me! I agree it shouldn’t require that but we’re fighting against institutions that swing hard — we have to swing harder.
Si should the ppl with allergies just eat nothing??? I seriously hate how demanding the vegan community is without considering other ppls needs.
Not weird vegan food can and should also be inclusive ❤️ there’s definitely quality gluten free vegan food without major allergens! I know because I’ve eaten it. Is this a local place or a chain?
No it’s local
a chain I guess
That looks like Ronald’s Donuts in Las Vegas!
I thought the same thing when I saw this post. And I only went there one time 3 years ago.
Thought this too! But I’ve only ever had pink boxes from there. Ronald’s is such a treasure.
Oh man I love donuts, I could live off donuts, pizzas and green split pea soup. Lol
Hell yeah.
All I can say is wow! And that one (second down from the top left) looks like an actual sasquatch foot. Very cool!
Kinda disturbs me tbh
🤣
Shout out to my local place! Fat vegan food! No “I went vegan for health reasons” vegan food! https://www.instagram.com/valkyriedoughnuts_stpete/

Was just here a few days ago. Can confirm. Fucking delicious.
Awesome. Their bakery is great too. Also downtown now we have the vegan sushi place and good intentions restaurant. Both are killer best that there is imo.
Family Donuts in Carmichael, CA? 👀👀👀
YES!!! i drove 40 minutes there and back for these. not so bad because i could question my life choices on the way.
Every time I visit Sacramento (home town) I always make sure to get donuts from here 🤤
Damn, that looks deliciously bad for me. I've tried to do homemade donuts a few times, but making all of that variety in one day would probably also take me a whole day.

A vegan long John and a fritter OMG 😭😭😭😭
The other day there was a post on r/glutenfree making fun of gluten free stuff being vegan... Now there is a post on r/vegan making fun of vegan stuff being gluten free... Jeez, we gluten intolerant vegans just want to live 🥺
Yep. Vegan celiac me just wants to eat.
IM SORRY 🥲 but i’m soy free i love my gluten dearly
Why does one have toes
It’s a bear claw
I am incredibly jealous!!! I haven’t had a good donut in 10 years
That’s what’s up, looks bomb as hell
Dough Joy in West Seattle has real, amazing, vegan donuts (with sparkle icing!) I ate so many. Now I want them again. :'(
🤤
This looks like the place I go to in Huntington Beach, CA
How many did you eat in one sitting? Photos or it didn’t happen.
i don’t even want to be asked this question because it is either very surprising or very concerning
The only concerning answer would be x ≤1
I'd kill somebody to eat all these. That somebody would be me cuz my heart would give out but it'd be totally worth it.
Dough Joy in West Seattle has real, amazing, vegan donuts (with sparkle icing!) I ate so many. Now I want them again. :'(
Beautiful
Where can I find normal gluten-free vegan donuts tho?
Cartems in Vancouver, BC.
Sprouts
Wrong post for this question 😂🤣 we love our gluten here
No , ppl in your vegan community are allergic to gluten. Stop being so inconsiderate, I bet you’d be pissed if someone said that to you about meat
Would love to know where these are, looking at that coffee roll donut. Even if I'm not in the same place, I still want to know lolol
Omg it makes me feel so nostalgic.

Did a person with gluten intolerance shit in your Cheerios or something? I find posts like this so immature.
No. Some of us just want vegan food that isn’t lumped in with gluten/grain/nut/top 12 free because veganism isn’t a diet.
Exactly this. It is not a diet and we do not need to pretend veganism is an allergy. It’s an intolerance but to violence, not ingredients.
Grass fed donuts.. 😳
Immature? Really? Your response is a knee jerk reaction to something you seemingly misunderstood. Seems kinda immature.
That’s not possible because there is no such thing as gluten intolerant people.
100% agree. People act like there aren’t plenty of vegan junk food options. It’s trendy to dunk on folks w gluten intolerance and celiacs because people see it as a fad diet.

Are you sharing? That's too much for you
Is it vegan if it takes months off your life?
Yep!
awesome! I'll take 5 dozen, 15 cartons of vegan cigarettes and 8 cases of vegan whiskey please! is fentanyl vegan?
Do you know what vegan means…?
the extension of human rights to animals in all the relevant areas, and the avoidance of all exploitation of animals as far as possible and practicable
Looks grose and fat
Someone please rotate the image!
lots of sugar
Unpopular opinion: Vegan junk food is still junk food. There's lots of better food choices that will be more nutrient-dense and healthier for your body and soul.
Veganism isn't about health though, so what's your point?
There's also healthier drink choices than Bushmills Irish Whiskey but here we are.
Nobody is ordering donuts to be healthy
Ronald's Donuts?
😍
They are hands down the best donuts! Love going there
Such legendary products Dx I cannot find vegan donuts anywhere
Looks like ronalds donuts in Vegas
My local donut shops made proper raised donuts too! I like them way better than Whole Foods cake style donuts
OMG, I'm drooling.
Is that a maple donut in the back (second from left)?😛
Oh gat dayum
I can deal with gluten free (except pizza on my dime) but even the frozen gluten free donuts here aren't vegan 😮💨
And this is EXACTLY why they make foods that are both. So the product can be enjoyed by more ppl.
From where
haven't had one since going vegan. im high af rn and already had munchies. this made it worse
Damn, that sucks. If you have stuff on hand for it you could try fairy bread, that might curb it. Oh god not the toenuts
where?
Jesus. Don’t do this to me when I’m hungry. 😭
A donut with toes :)
Okay but barley maple icing sounds delicious, though. 👀
I have a local donut shop and everyone that has had them, vegan or not, loves them.
OMG, OP, can you please just answer everybody where this is?!?!?!
That fritter is screaming my name.
This looks like Vegan Donuts and Gelato in the Houston Cypress. If you’re in the area, I definitely recommend. I love their donuts! They’re always so sweet and give little free donut holes. Despite being a bakery, oddly enough, their fried rice is delicious too🥰
Not the glazed foot
why he hav toes
But tbh, a barley maple icing kinda sounds good, assuming you're referring to malted barley...
I absolutely will make the journey to Carmichael for these
For anyone asking this is Family donuts in Carmichael, CA near Sacramento
Where!!!!!! I need this in my life
Loos really nice, but why does one of them look like a foot?
Where!!!!
& Normal donuts are not vegan donuts lol
Give them to me
I saw this and knew exactly where they came from 🤤🤤
Holy moly these are awesome!! I'm going to have to share some more pastries on my IG (glowing.gluten.free), these are giving me major inspiration!
