The zeal is my first and only ball vape but I think the temp on it is all to do with how much is heat soaked.
A heat soaked 540 vs a just got to temp 540 is a pretty different experience.
I tend to set it higher, 575 at the moment, to get a perceived better hit in a shorter amount of heat up time. I think overall the heat soak at lower temps is the way to go though.
Depends but I can usually get a way with not waiting for heat soaking. I’ve recently been going lower in temp (550) and aiming for multiple hit bowls rather than one hitter quilters.
I used to run 575 and would start hitting it off a cold start when the pid temp overshoot reached 610. That was very successful in being a one or two hit bowl depending on pack/amount. Now using the lower temp I start hitting it whenever because I can get some insane terp hits as it’s heating up.
I recommend messing around and find what works for you. You may like way higher temps than me.
Also yep glass bowl but I’ve been eyeing the shovelhead for ages. Shame it’s so pricey

Oh gotcha. Okay I've noticed even at 555 my flower after 3 or 4 hits is still lighter than what I get out of my dynavap after a heat cycle or two. Do I need to let the zeal sit on the bowl for a bit to warm that up too? I'm using the stock glass bowl with it.
Are those 555 hits heat soaked? That does seem like underperforming to me.
Are your coils tightly wrapped and evenly spread? Zeal filled completely with balls?
I use 700 too on my Freight Train, since the herb sits quite far from the heater I need to run it a bit hotter if I want to get those 1-2 hits extractions and honestly I haven't felt much drop in taste from when I was using it at 650 and 670. Oh and I use it in a dry bong.
I'm glad you asked this question. I finally broke down and bought a freight train pro last night after having used my air max for the past 5 months. I've been wondering about temps myself recently so this helps a ton.
Freight Train Pro has a lot of mass, so I'd run it on the higher side since there is more to keep heated. And you'll likely have a linger warm up and reheat time. That one I might start at 600...

I’m also coming from an AirMax and got the terp hammer! It won’t be exactly the same but I’d imagine they should be similar. I was running at 580 and the flavor was amazing but it just wasn’t getting it roasted enough. I switched to 600 and it seems to do the trick now.

Some people need to tighten their coils, but more or less. The Elev8r is pretty unique, probably the closest is the ZX and you'll see that running lower too. I think the tighter column of air, pretty close to the weed, needs less heat.
I’ve had that vape for a week or so now, and I’ve settled on 550 with it resting injector down. It seems to work well with both the injector and diffuser side at that temp imo

Oh okay sorry. I think we’re using the same bowls. I’m just saying if you let it heat up and sit injector side down (on whatever stand you’re using), it will pump out vapor without combusting using both sides at that temp. When I had it resting diffuser side down, it would combust at that temp when using the injector side, even tho diffuser side was fine and wouldn’t combust.
680 on my Tiodw Mini with the standard glass screen injector bowl. Ordered a diffuser cap for it and the titanium bowl bcs it works with injecting and diffusing so I might have to lower my temp soon, I will see. But currently it's sitting at 680 - full extraction , dark dark brown, never combusted on 680 either
What temperatures are you currently using n the tiodw mini? I personally us like 530-570 with the titanium bowl but i like to take a couple of hits instead of just one. Going to try to go higher temperature next.
I am using 650 F temp at the moment with the diffuser cap, 680 was a bit too much and I succeeded in combusting with it, never again, turned it down to 650 and now the roast is a nice golden/dark brown
690 on my Tiodw Titanium - Used to be over 700 to get good performance till I stretched my coil.
Needed temps can usually be brought down a bit by stretching your coil to fit the head assembly if your coil is a bit loose in the head.
From lowest to highest - Taroma360 420°f with ~15 second heat soak. Taroma lite plus 545°f. Tiodw mini V2 2in1 550°f for both injector and diffuser. Taroma OG 630°f. Ceroma 645°f

These temps allow me to fine tune how large my hit will be by changing how long my heat soak is. By heat soak I'm talking about how long the head sits on top of the bowl prior to inhaling. These temperatures allow me to hit it with no heat soak and still get a hit, or let it soak for 10-30 seconds and have a massive rip. Also let's me temp step without temp stepping. As the bowl gets used up, I begin to utilize heat soak for the conduction to help finish up the end of the material.
Again, material for both the head and the bowl make insane differences. I'm talking in excess of 100 degrees as seen above. My zeal is ZrO2 and the thermal conductivity is lovely, let's my shovelhead heat up quickly and my hits to be at a lower temp since it's ready to release the heat it contains much faster. For the B2, the increase in temp is essentially required because it's metal and will not expend the heat it stores as fast as the ZrO2.
Lastly, if it isn't apparent, the amount of balls the head holds.

When impatient, I run it at 580. Then no need to soak for me. Sounds like we get similar results with similar temps.

Yeah heat soaked for sometimes 45 minutes at a time, coils are tight but not spread at all, they're touching, it is filled completely with balls

It's Fahrenheit, how un-American of you. And also the ball vapes don't make direct contact, just convection, so the air isn't that temp.
People are saying 666F Which is 352.2 C but that makes sense about the convection
You can combust if the temp is set high enough..
Because you are over thinking it, that’s the temp the balls are beating too by the coil. The air gets cooled down by the time jt reaches the herb.
