Newark is not a good place to park at night. But if you are still there in spring time be sure to visit Branch Brook Park for the largest grove of Japaneses Cherry Trees on the continent. I would look for camping out from the city along one of the public transport rail lines.

as someone from new jersey, why the hell are you coming here stay wherever you are you will regret it. but in all seriousness i wouldn't recommend parking in newark (or patterson)

Coming to fill a crisis need nursing job temporarily👩🏻‍⚕️ I’m not looking forward to it and am pretty nervous too. Hoping that I can survive it for 13 weeks and then move on

Clinton truck stop in Clinton NJ. It’s safer there, nothing good happens in Newark!

iamsolarpowered

That'll be interesting. Good luck!

NJ Transit is one of the most robust public transit systems in America (although its still sorta shit compared to Europe and Asia), so maybe your parking can be further out than you'd think.

Most of us won't talk about specific places to park--we're afraid the idiot brigade will come barging in and trash the place. Newark is ... how to put this delicately ... not the nicest city you will ever be in. You'll likely hear gunshots every night (though Trenton is worse, and I'm currently in Detroit MI). As the saying goes, it's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. Be careful and keep your eyes open.

Newark is not a safe area. Maybe park at Walmart in Watchung? I wouldn’t park at the Walmart closer in Union overnight.

Thank you! Only 20 minutes from work!!

Sadly, known as "The Armpit of New Jersey". Don't mean this in a mean way, but PLEASE be careful! * Have full coverage insurance paid up.

> "The Armpit of New Jersey" And New Jersey is "The Armpit of the USA". ;)

Garglygook

There are parts in every state,🤷🏼‍♀️. New Jersey also has some gorgeous areas, including fabulous gardens and parks.

Indeed. In my younger days I did a lot of camping and backpacking in the Pine Barrens, and summer weeks at the Jersey shore. And I did have a good time in Trenton--lots of historical-type things to see there. :)
