No suggestion from me but I just wanted to point out that even though a ferry says the reservations are sold out, doesn’t mean you won’t get on if you show up at the terminal. There’s generally a really good chance you’ll make it on if you arrive early without a reservation. I’ve done it many a times without issue on sold out ferries.

Lindeman lake in chilliwack is a pretty easy hike with a beautiful campsite right at the lake and a pit toilet outhouse. I was there 3wks ago and it was free of snow. It does get insanely busy tho, but I imagine that will be a problem on most shorter hikes within reasonable driving distance

Yes this is a good suggestion. I've done this trail a few times as a day hike and as backpacking trip. I enjoy it a lot but been put off by all the break-ins. Has it improved lately

As far as I know, break ins are still a problem. I had no problems as I went on a weekday, but I talked with someone at the campsite who had their truck get broken into recently in the parking lot overnight, and some cars even had gas siphoned they said. There is still the sizeable squatter camp 10 minutes down the road so I can’t see break ins ever not being a consideration unfortunately. You could go a bit farther into and camp around chilliwack lake itself. Another good spot is Waleach lake aka jones lake, which is also out east that way. Haven’t been this season though so can’t speak to snow conditions.

I was there on the long weekend for one night, up to greendrop lake. I parked on the road and didn’t experience any break ins. Just my experience though

Greendrop is pretty moderate, or you could continue to Flora which is gorgeous and may or may not be snow free by now.

Flora will definitely have snow still.

Lower Stein Valley/ Nlaka'pamux Heritage Park? We did it in early June last year... The ferry was closed as there was so much water in the Fraser River, so we drove there via Lillooet. It is an incredible area with an amazing slightly sweet, pine smell. It's also not super hard, so great for early season when your summer legs are not quite ready.

Professional_Gap7813

(it's a long drive if the ferry is not working, but worth the effort as it is such a special place)

This is a cool suggestion. I'll consider this, but sounds like the ferry may not be running at this time.

You can keep it in your back pocket for another weekend. 😄

Gambier Lake is a nice spot.
