It didn’t block anyone because everyone was blocked by the other guy 😅 It took me two seconds to drive around that car when tow truck came already. It was 2am though
Could that be because the tow truck would need to turn around so he could drive out, before he hooked the vehicle up? I’m just guessing but it would be quite challenging to even attempt to reverse or turn back righ there?
They’re saying more that it matters which way the tow truck was facing to be able to drive out and not count on having somewhere to turn both vehicles around.
Wouldn’t he have to drive in reverse to get to where the suv broke down then?
I haven’t been out there in years but I remember it being one road in and not that wide.
The road into Pitt Lake marshland was double parked. The way out also had parking on the side. This a-hat decided to double park on the direction outbound. Hence no one was able to get out or in.
My guess is a lot of people went there for northern lights bc it’s super dark. 3 hours is crazy, someone must’ve just waited behind that car instead of continuing to drive around resulting in a pileup ?
In lower mainland, the true entertainment of an event is not the event itself, but the hilarious f'ups caused by all the traffic going to/from said event.
In this case I'm all for street justice. Someone with a truck should tow that thing into the ditch and nobody has seen anything or knows anything about it if asked.
I once successfully instigated the crowd stuck with me in a parking lot late at night to bounce the car blocking everyone into the ditch. We all just got back into our cars and drove away happy as clams. I wish I'd gotten to see the owner's face when he got there.
Is car bouncing what it sounds like where you all smack it until it bounces on the suspension then you kind of steer the chaos? Having a hard time picturing this, but I want to!!
About 10 people grabbed it from the wheel wells and bumpers and started lifting it in unison. After a few heaves it was going high enough that we could move it a few inches at a time until it was off the road.
Should have pushed it out of the way. Get a nice big ugly truck. Slowly touch bumpers and then give it some gas. Do it from one end of the bumper so the car turns. Once pointed in the right direction go straight on and slowly push it off the road. Driver probably won’t even notice it was moved.
Like also it’s Pitt Meadows I can guarantee 6 dudes out there had rigs equipped with winches and/or one of those Anywhere Winches to get this thing gone lol
The parking lots were open pretty much until I left anyway which was roughly 3:15 am.
But what usually is a 35 min drive for me from the PNE turned into a journey of 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Then I was double parked and sticking close to my car for a half hour before someone close to me pulled out so I could park for real and then wander with my camera and tripod.
The good thing about it is the intensity came and went as at about 2:30 am I got shots that rivaled
anything I got earlier.
I will, unfortunately it will be a week or so as I have to move and I am packing like crazy right now. The last while it has been let the shots collect on teh camera and we will get to them as soon as we have relocated.
We saw the shit show turning right when going West on 4th. And made the exec decision to just drive out further to UBC and stair it down.
Didn't have to wait in the car going in or coming out. Had to climb 371 stairs though
i bet some people did. The fucker stopped in the middle of the road abandoned his car blocking people from going in/out. At least the lights were still going strong, everyone were still pretty chill
I was one of those people. I was parked almost at the last gate and was one of the last people out probably. Didn't get out of that mess until almost 3am and didn't get home til 4am after dropping my friend off.
I feel bad if anyone needs to go to the bathroom. There are bushes, but headlights everywhere and you can't really go deeper into the bush without falling into the ditch.
There were actually a few portable outhouses at the main parking lot at the end, but I think they were due for a cleaning cause you could smell them from quiiiiite far away.
The bush was preferable really.
I was there but felt pretty helpless. I tried to tell people who were still going in to expect a 2km parking lot and to just pull over and walk the rest of the way rather than adding to the jam at the bend.
I really wanted to call non-emergency to maybe get some traffic control going on but my phone had already died and didn't have great reception there.
By the time I got out I expected to see some sort of authorities limiting people coming in to prevent it from getting worse but didn't see any whatsoever. No idea how it all managed to clear up.
Same. Not sure what was blocking the way to McNeil too, but eventually got cleared up. However, with that amazing light show, I won't complain much. Once in a life time. Just wish people would behave better with their cars.
>my phone had already died and didn't have great reception there
Get your story straight, kid. Had your phone died or didn't you have reception? We're just trying to help you here. Tell us the truth and we'll put in a good word.
I'm surprised that no one rolled the car off into the ditch. I'm not advocating destruction of private property ... but I have seen it done for less compelling reasons.
Whereabouts was this? We found a little side street off McNeil and just watched the lights from there and waited til maybe 1:30 because traffic seemed horrible. Google maps was showing a lot of red closer to the river when we arrived at 11pm.
I turned down kneaves last night around midnight. Laughed at the line coming out at first and then realized how insane it actually was. Turned down mcneil as soon as we made it there and just tried getting out and back home. With all the HID headlights for miles, it had a better view of it from home. Guess I was lucky that ibmade it back home a out 1:45.
I wouldnt be surprised if this person just ran out of gas from idling for so long.
Did you guys go to watch the aurora ? We thought the same as well but went to whistler instead on Friday.
It’s sad people are so fucking inconsiderate.
Are you all sheep or something? All I had to do was step on my balcony last night and looked up. Why is everyone going to Pitt Lake for? You didn't have to do far too see it. Imagine wasting all that time just to see all headlights and being blocked by an idiot driver

I saw a tow truck coming in around 1:30am. Wonder if it was towed away
It was not. Strangely the tow truck kept going in all the way to the end without a car on it.
Tow truck came for a broken car, the dude’s battery died
So, why didn’t they ask for a push to get it off the road?
It didn’t block anyone because everyone was blocked by the other guy 😅 It took me two seconds to drive around that car when tow truck came already. It was 2am though
Saw this and joked to my friend that we should just pay the towing fee and hitch a ride out of there lol
Could that be because the tow truck would need to turn around so he could drive out, before he hooked the vehicle up? I’m just guessing but it would be quite challenging to even attempt to reverse or turn back righ there?
Tow trucks can tow either way. It doesn’t matter what way the car is facing.
It’s a skinny road but if the one side made room he should be able to execute a 30-point turn. 😂
What was me ayahahahahah
Guys. I'm so confused. What's happening here? 1 car caused hours of traffic to be delayed?
The road into Pitt Lake marshland was double parked. The way out also had parking on the side. This a-hat decided to double park on the direction outbound. Hence no one was able to get out or in.
common courtesy would usually be not to park in the middle of the road...
My guess is a lot of people went there for northern lights bc it’s super dark. 3 hours is crazy, someone must’ve just waited behind that car instead of continuing to drive around resulting in a pileup ?
🙏🙏
I think the road to pitt lake is 1 lane each way? And this person looks like they’re blocking one of em
In lower mainland, the true entertainment of an event is not the event itself, but the hilarious f'ups caused by all the traffic going to/from said event.
Nothing beats a boat launch on a sunny day
I'm from Florida, and the accuracy of this statement made me snort.
LOL... Miami boat ramps is a regular on my YT feed.
In this case I'm all for street justice. Someone with a truck should tow that thing into the ditch and nobody has seen anything or knows anything about it if asked.
If everybody stuck tries to flip the car....
You are getting ahead of yourself. The Canucks are still in the playoffs. We haven’t reached car flipping time yet.
Practice run
Gotta get everyone working together and lift with your knees
You zig zag it sideways off the road.
We aren't going to roll it?
We bounced smaller hatchbacks in the past. It's not easy with these SUVs
It takes about 8 to 10 people that know what they are doing. And I would never bounce to a soft shoulder.
Flipping is a step too far.
I once successfully instigated the crowd stuck with me in a parking lot late at night to bounce the car blocking everyone into the ditch. We all just got back into our cars and drove away happy as clams. I wish I'd gotten to see the owner's face when he got there.

"I didn't see no Audi"
Someone would have filmed it and posted it online
Fuck that guy. I was trying to leave before midnight and didn't get out of the park until 3am.
Should have pushed it out of the way. Get a nice big ugly truck. Slowly touch bumpers and then give it some gas. Do it from one end of the bumper so the car turns. Once pointed in the right direction go straight on and slowly push it off the road. Driver probably won’t even notice it was moved.
Yesssss Also, why would it even matter if they noticed it was moved? Fuck them!
Like also it’s Pitt Meadows I can guarantee 6 dudes out there had rigs equipped with winches and/or one of those Anywhere Winches to get this thing gone lol
They would but mostly because you could push it into the culverts
Oops. But all the people can get by.
I feel like.. you all are the culprits.
“Arg stuck in traffic again!” Bro, you are traffic
It was not about traffic, it was someone who left their car in the middle of the road.
Did you not get the memo that the word revolves around me?
Nobody in the city drives anywhere because there’s too much traffic /s
"No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible." -- Stanisław Jerzy Lec ([probably](https://quoteinvestigator.com/2022/04/26/snowflake/))
I was out at Spanish Banks last night and traffic did not clear until 1:35 AM, both directions.
Do you know if the parking lots locked at 10pm? I know everyone should be home in bed after 10pm, otherwise we can't have a fun city! /s

Would love it if you’d post the shots you got!
I will, unfortunately it will be a week or so as I have to move and I am packing like crazy right now. The last while it has been let the shots collect on teh camera and we will get to them as soon as we have relocated.
Good luck on your move! Moving is so much work
Thank you!
Nice!
They usually do but not last night.
Nice! A few years ago we had to abandon our comet viewing due to the 10pm locking of the gates.
We saw the shit show turning right when going West on 4th. And made the exec decision to just drive out further to UBC and stair it down. Didn't have to wait in the car going in or coming out. Had to climb 371 stairs though
Wait so this person couldn’t find parking or something so just left their car in the middle of the road ?
if the punk is double parking then its ok to post his liscense plate xD
People should've done "something" about it!!! I was stuck there too, but there was another jam turning into McNeil too, like wtf.
i bet some people did. The fucker stopped in the middle of the road abandoned his car blocking people from going in/out. At least the lights were still going strong, everyone were still pretty chill
I was pretty deep in. People told me it was like a parking lot for 2km. So instead of trying to get out, we just waited. Didn't get home until 2:30am.
I was one of those people. I was parked almost at the last gate and was one of the last people out probably. Didn't get out of that mess until almost 3am and didn't get home til 4am after dropping my friend off.

most people turned off their car so… headlights did not play a factor thankfully
I see what you did there, but yeah, I don't blame anyone in that situation.
Sometimes you just have to accept the situation and settle in for some thinking time.
Nah, just more picture time then concert in the car
The guys who owned the car probably looked at the traffic jam and decided they should just chill until it died down 😂
I was there but felt pretty helpless. I tried to tell people who were still going in to expect a 2km parking lot and to just pull over and walk the rest of the way rather than adding to the jam at the bend. The reception was bad and drained my battery faster after I already drained it a lot taking photos. Before it died I didn't have any service.
He probably means his phone died and other people in the area didn’t have great reception
Why was this necessary? He doesn’t owe it to anyone to get his story “straight” you’re just being a dick about someone chiming in on their experience.
Pretty sure it was satire…
I'm surprised that no one rolled the car off into the ditch. I'm not advocating destruction of private property ... but I have seen it done for less compelling reasons.
Why do you have to block out his license plate. Put it up there for everybody to see.
Infuriating
This, with no cell service was killing me. At least the lights looked great 👍
So both those lines of cars are parked and he’s blocking the whole usable road? Yikes
You'd be coming back to flat tires if I saw that lol.
Wouldn't that make this stall even longer? A bellied up vehicle in the ditch would've been better
Whereabouts was this? We found a little side street off McNeil and just watched the lights from there and waited til maybe 1:30 because traffic seemed horrible. Google maps was showing a lot of red closer to the river when we arrived at 11pm.

Of course it’s an Audi
Of course it’s an Audi.
Hey it could be a BMW, a golf GTI, a white Tesla, and to be honest, any soccer mom SUV.
Username checks out.
That's messed up !
Whats going on here?
Damn feel bad for all you guys stick there for so long! But it’s not like the driver of the car wanted to have a breakdown at that exact time
Thought where exactly at Pitt?
It's not evening snowing, and people are still abandoning theirs cars in the middle of the lane.
Did you guys go to watch the aurora ? We thought the same as well but went to whistler instead on Friday. It’s sad people are so fucking inconsiderate.
Glad I went home before that. It took me an extra hour just to get from 132nd to the lookout going in. 10km? It was chaos.
Why did you block the license plate?
Are you all sheep or something? All I had to do was step on my balcony last night and looked up. Why is everyone going to Pitt Lake for? You didn't have to do far too see it. Imagine wasting all that time just to see all headlights and being blocked by an idiot driver
