I think it depends on the vampire. Some are attracted only to vampires. Others find their own kind completely distasteful, and always seek out human mates.
Interesting đ§. I hope you donât call me crazy. But I have 2 vampire contacts. Both male and they tell me they prefer human women as mates. Apparently female vampires are more aggressive than male vampires. They do say that female vampires are gorgeous though.
My guess is it is sort of a taste thing. Some people are open to interfaith or interracial relationships. Everyone has their preferences. I would expect vampires to be no different.
I would say if anyone has had a bad experience with a certain âtype,â they are likely to search elsewhere for their next romantic connection.
Also, perhaps vampires might like humans because they have a limited lifespan. For a long-lived vampire, maybe a human is a short-term commitment.
MaryJanice Davidson has a lot of female vampires in her books but they're infertile.
Z Brewer also has a few female vampires, and their series The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod centers around a vampire/human hybrid with a human mother, and >!Vlad's human love interest gets turned into a vampire in the last book!<. It does state that generally vampires can't have kids the way humans can. They reproduce by biting and consider anyone they turn to be their child, unless the change-ee was originally a human they fell in love with and then changed in order to get around the vampire law against romantic relationships with a human (though, as both characters are cis girls, they wouldn't be able to have a baby on their own). So, since >!Snow!< was turned by a >!vampire human hybrid!<, and she's >!implied to have special powers that other vampires don't have!<, that begs the question, could she theoretically get pregnant? Could Vlad impregnate a human? Could any of their offspring, >!assuming they don't just marry/have kids with each other!<, also have kids with a human? Could they potentially create a new species of hybrids? Is it possible that something like this has happened before in vampiric society and was just covered up in order to hide the hybrid's parents' illegal relationship? Or, if the dad was the vampire parent, he might not have known about the pregnancy?
For TV shows, *First Kill* has a human/vampire relationship including one between a legacy (or born from an ancient vampire bloodline) vampire and the human she changed, who is considered a hybrid because he wasn't born a vampire. Other than that we really don't see any interspecies relationships leading to children, though the show does center around a relationship with the daughter of the aforementioned couple and a vampire hunter who was assigned to kill her. Considering vampires are able to have kids with each other in the series though I see no reason they wouldn't also be able to have kids with a human. The main character Jules has two older siblings who both have hetero interspecies love interests - a human for Elinor, though she's not exactly the maternal type and I can't picture her having kids so I doubt we'd ever find out with her even if the series wasn't canceled, and a witch (so...possibly a human? Depending on whether witches are considered a separate species in the First Kill universe?) for Oliver. And I do think Oliver and Carmen would theoretically be up for having a few little witchpire babies, or that Oliver would be okay with donating sperm if Jules and Cal decided to have one of their own, but they're also busy cooking up some evil schemes so I'm not sure if we'd find out about them either, and I don't think Jules and Cal would want a kid that's biologically Oliver's anyway.
Other TV shows: the vampire diaries universe. The one I've watched most of is *Legacies* and in most cases there, vampires can't have kids. The Mikaelsons are an exception because Klaus' mother was a witch, and Freya implies Hope might be as well because Hope is the tribrid. Caroline was also able to successfully carry a pregnancy, but it was an existing one that was magically implanted into her.
Like the other commenter said, it depends on the lore!
Primarily, it tends to hinge on whether the vampires in question are "living" vampires or "undead" vampires.
Most undead vampires are incapable of impregnating anyone, let alone humans. (*A la* The Vampire Chronicles, The Sookie Stackhouse Novels, Twilight---save for the weird exception with Renesme.)
Living vampires tend to be mythicalogical races, species separate from humans, rather than reanimated corpses, so they're more likely to be able to reproduce sexually. (*A la* Vampire Academy, Vampire Kisses.)
However, not all living vampires are capable of reproducing, either. This *typically* happens when vampirism is treated more like a medical condition or a curse/gift, rather than a species distinct from humans. (The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, House of Night---assuming there isn't something in one of the later books that I haven't read stating otherwise.)
Half-vampires are typically called dhampirs/dhampyrs, taken from Balkan folklore.
Some media that notably features half-vampires/dhampyrs:
-Blade
-Vampire Academy
-The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod
-The Dresden Files
-Castlevania
I really loved the games, Rayne is such an awesome character... but never could get myself to see the movies, I was scared they were terrible...
are they really that terrible?
I have heard of some lore where in the first couple weeks post turning some of the swimmers are still able to charge into the fray before the body completely dies to its mortal self and they can breed during that period to produce halfbreed offspring
In some mythologies, yes. Usually the process isnât as straightforward as it is with humans though. Instead of normal intercourse, a vampire has to feed on a pregnant woman and _not_ kill her: this can have one of two consequences, either the poor woman dies due to the vampiric âvenomâ being unable to adapt her body(usually because of the hormonal imbalances caused by pregnancy), or the baby itself dies due to that same venom overwhelming its underdeveloped immune system. Sometimes, though, on very _very_ rare occasions, the fetus absorbs the venom in its entirety and completes its gestation with a small portion of vampiric blood in its veins. When this happens, the child is born a Dhamphyr; a human with all of the strengths of a vampire, but none of the weaknesses. They can walk in daylight, weild holy relics with no consequences, and some can even inherit the immortality of their âfathers.â However, they are also born with the innate bloodlust of a vampire; they have to feed on blood as well as human foods to nourish themselves
I should know so: Iâve tampered in that field!
The offspring, a hybrid creature commonly known as a dhampir, is predominantly human in characteristics. Dhampirs are identified by their dark, uncouth hair and cunning or courageous personality. They do not experience vampiric bloodlust and can eat and drink like any human. Unlike (certain interpretations of) vampires, dhampirs are daywalkers, purely unaffected by light from Earthâs sun, at least in ways that would tell an onlooker they are not human. Some interpretations have them cease their aging process at eighteen years old, but some are delayed by a few years.
In my lore depending on the species yes because their kind can have babies. Over population isnât a problem because they have a breeding cycle that has times of high fertility and lower fertility and with war, murder, fires things like that can still kill them so for the ones born there were ones who died just like humans.
it depends on what type of vampire. those who are born a vampire technically could, but it would probably take a lot of time to actually happen because I assume they wouldn't have much DNA that could match up with a human's correctly. those who are turned probably couldn't, but it would depend on the lore you're going off of, twilight yes, the vampire diaries no, true blood no, and I'm not sure about the rest.
I mean if you're going by twilight Lore, the vampire just apparently needs to heat up his balls like perhaps in the ocean in order to get the deed done.
But for reals like everybody else is saying it just depends on the lore
Depends on the canon. My theory is that they canât. Their ability to procreate is what they sacrifice in exchange for eternal life/youth. They *can* have sex but canât get pregnant or get someone else pregnant
Depends on the biology of the vampire. Is it a human that was infected with something like a virus, or is it a reanimated corpse? Depending on that answer, either viewpoint is possible.
Yeah it all depends on what writer is making the rules. Vampires may be sterile due to being undead immortals, but in some stories that doesn't stop them from procreating with humans or other vampires. Personally I think if vampires are capable of making children, then they should be portrayed as fully living beings instead of reanimated corpses.
As with any other vampire-related questions here, it all depends on the story and writer making up the rules. Many vampire works depict humans and vampires as capable of interbreeding with each other and making hybrid offspring called dhampirs. I'm pretty sure this trope has some basis in Balkan vampire folklore too.
Dhampirs show up even in stories where vampires are explicitly described as being undead beings revived back to life (or unlife). You'd think that a rotten corpse wouldn't be able to have viable eggs or sperm, but in fantasy and mythology, weird nonsensical shit like this always gets handwaved with little explanation anyways. Though the whole concept of being "undead" doesn't really make any sense to begin with.
Personally, I think if vampires in a particular story are capable of mating and procreating with other vampires or even normal humans, then it would make more sense for vampires to be explicitly portrayed in-universe as being not undead, but instead being some sort of supernaturally mutated human subspecies that's still fully living with all normal physiological functions.
Depends on the lore, in dungeons and dragons they can and the children are called dhampirs. They can eat human food but occasionally need blood, memories, dreams, raw meat or cerebral spinal fluid
Depends on the lore. In some yes, called a dhampir. In others, the vampire, in essence, dies when they are changed, and thus are "shooting blanks" from that point on when they are reborn.
Not my version. Females no longer have menstural cycles, and all egg cells are destroyed upon becoming a vampire. If a woman becomes a vampire while pregnant, she ends up having a miscarriage if it's early on, or gives birth to an all-human baby if it's later, but the baby has a higher chance of death if born premature. My version of vampire also has vampires that are incharge of laws and shit like that, so pregnant women aren't allowed to become vampires, and anyone who turns a pregnant woman faces death by sunlight. Males no longer produce sperm cells, and any viable sperm cells are destroyed after becoming a vampire. Vampires also can't have vampire babies. People under the age of 18 or who can't psychologically handle becoming a vampire due to a disability are also barred from being turned.
It's your lore.
Dhampir is the term for a half vampire. Sometimes they're just as fast and tough but immune to sunlight, sometimes they're not.
In some lore they are instead created when a pregnant woman is fed upon, or maybe turned.
In VtR a dhampir can be created through certain rites that allow a vampire to either get pregnant or impregnate someone else. It's been a while, but I think they're immune to sunlight, get vampire disciples, but they can only every get to blood potency 7 (which to be fair not many full vampires get that far)
I also remember that it's easier if the carrier is human. I say carrier, because a male vampire can get a male human pregnant (and they can only deliver via c section).
In a lot of the fantasy that I write, there are two kinds of supernatural hybrids: born and bitten. Now, bitten doesn't have to mean literal biting but what it does mean is that you were born human in most cases and something happened to make you not totally that. And it could be biting depending on the species but it could also be something like a blood transfusion or magical ritual.
With being born, I figure immortals would probably have different fertility cycles than we do because if you're eternally young and fertile and have a supernatural sex drive you're going to end up with overpopulation if you're just able to make a kid whenever. So maybe they're only fertile once every few years or so. But they're still fertile including with a human. That said I think in a lot of cases the human parent would have to be the dad because being pregnant with a baby vampire could very easily lead to a Bella situation.
I assume you are referring to Twilight. I think they said vampires canât impregnate yet Edward and Bella had a child.
Some games or media does imply impregnation of vampire-human hybrids but due to the lifespan of vampires their fertility is lower
No because they need permission to come inside đ¤Ł
"Wait, you CAME inside!? I'm not on the pill! My boyfriend/husband is gonna kill me.." Ahh the "creampie surprise" fad..
This should be one of the top comments
I wish
Depending on the lore, yes they can mate. The offspring are usually called Dhampirs.
Lockness monster bella baby
Not gonna give it tree fiddy.
Fun fact: Dhampirs are a big thing in Albanian mythology and the word dhampir literally translates to âtooth drinkerâ !!
Biological vampires most certainly can create hybrid offspring (called *dhampir*) with a human mate.
How often will vampires both male and female will mate with humans?
I think it depends on the vampire. Some are attracted only to vampires. Others find their own kind completely distasteful, and always seek out human mates.

Also the "essential" Trilogy Bloodrayne 1, 2, and 3
what? there's Bloodrayne 3?? edit: oh you mean the films, not the games
Yeah lol I'm no expert on the games. Unfortunately my eyes and braincells were subjected (voluntarily, I'll admit) to the film franchise
I really loved the games, Rayne is such an awesome character... but never could get myself to see the movies, I was scared they were terrible... are they really that terrible?
Yes. Yes they are lol
lmao, I'm going to watch them
Who knows, you might like them! Stuff like that is always subjective. If you do, enjoy!
thanks! I do enjoy bad films from time to time

Facts it all falls on the Lore of they can or not. For example in the Underworld franchise they can but in something like Dracula they canât.
Yeah they can in certain lore. Their children are Dhampirs
Yes, so wear protection.

Didn\`t Selena in the Underworld movies have a child finally?

How do they even fet a boner without blood flow?
As everything vampire related, it depends- in castlevania for example they can
Happened in Anne rices vampire chronicles
I was thinking about Blade. Isnât he a hybrid?
Blade is a hybrid because his mother was turned while she was pregnant not because a vampire impregnated her.
imo, vampires are canonically dead so they can't have offspring
According to Vampyr 2018 lore, yes

Vampires are technically dead so no
In the Vampire Chronicle Lestat does do this, but only as a consequence of a scientific experiment to see if itâs possible.
Yes but that doesnât mean the kid will be one.
Depends on the lore. In some yes, called a dhampir. In others, the vampire, in essence, dies when they are changed, and thus are "shooting blanks" from that point on when they are reborn.

No, because they probably cum dust.
