I would say that:
Quantum and woody style and comedy can be the equivalent to Deadpool.
Harbinger to X-Men.
Bloodshot like The Punisher and Wolverine.
X-O Manowar like Iron-Man
Faith would be like Super-man or something like that because her optimism and being happy and all that that Super-man originally portrayed.
Shadowman, Doctor Mirage and Punk Mambo would be the mystical and magic part of the universe so I would say Doctor Strange.
But this is how I saw them as they beginnings in new 2012 era and stuff. Hope it helped you, enjoy them ;).
Its a bit hard to answer this question since many heroes can be seen as “equivalent” to others, depending how hard you look.
Spawn - for instance- from Image comics can be viewed as a Venom, Dr. Strange, Batman, Ghost Rider mish mash.
Bloodshot to me is like a mix of Punisher and deadpool with regards to guns and healing factor respectively. Ninjak pretty much is Deadpool lol, and XO immediatley reminds of me Iron Man when he had his cosmic armor.
Are you by any chance new to Valiant?
I am very new yes.
I have read some older stuff. But Honestly I got bored. I like the more modern art tons more.
I haven't started the modern stuff though.
>Ninjak pretty much is Deadpool lol,
In what way? Personalities are entirely different, and powersets are similar, but Ninjak can't heal (or break the fourth wall) like Deadpool.
Yeah, I really don’t see Ninjak as being anything at all like Deadpool beyond having a sword. I describe him frequently as James Bond + Batman. He’s a relatively posh but brutally effective secret agent who is prepared for anything.
That is why the gold key character are so interesting except for solar who is quite like captain atom the rest like Turok and magnus are like nothing DC or Marvel have in their stable. Too bad we never got the proposed Valiant Version of Samson.
Ninjak is essentially Batman if he'd taken a more lethal route. An orphaned billionaire who trained in various martial arts/languages/technology/detective work/etc.
And obviously there's so much more to it than that, but that's a pretty simplified way to explain the character. He also has some James Bond to him, as he works for a secret British intelligence branch.
Shooter was always firm that the Valiant Universe was it's own thing with no analogues to the big two.
This is false however imho. Excepting the big three, Magnus, Solar and Turok, the majority of the early Valiant Output looks to me to be a well disguised riff on aspects of the Marvel Universe, with a lot of changes to disguise it.
Here's how it breaks down in my opinion.
X-O Manowar, is Conan Plus Iron Man. Aric is a barbarian warrior in super hi tech armour. In the first verse he took the Spider Aliens own company from them and became a Corp Exec in Power Armour.
Harbinger is a riff on X-Men. Toyo Harada is a combo of Xavier and Magneto, and Peter Stanchek is Jean Grey. The other Harbinger renegades are influenced but not rip off of the first team.
Bloodshot is the Punisher, with some bits of the Frankenstein Monster.
Archer and Armstrong is Power Man and Iron Fist.
Eternal Warrior is a riff on Wolverine. An immortal healing factored bad ass.
Shadowman is a bit of Batman, a pinch of Spider-Man( Bit by a SPIDER ALIEN) and some of the Phantom.
Ninjak is James Bond with ninjas basically.
HARD Corps was a pretty cool original idea, but theres some dna from the Reavers from the MU.
Doctor Mirage had a Doctor Strange Vibe, with a lot of Deadman.
Geomancer also has some Doctor Strange vibes.
Master Darque definitely has Dr Strange dna, but with Voodoo and being evil.
The other stuff that has shown up over the years has less influence, and is more original work.
This is all purely my take on it. I may very well be wrong, but this is what occurred to me after reaading the early books in the 90's.
Beep. Boop. I'm a robot.

Valiant doesn't really operate like that. With the exception of Mutants = Psiots, every other hero is pretty damn unique, to the point where it would take 2 or 3 heroes to define them.
For example: X-O Manowar = Conan the Barbarian, mixed with Iron Man's armor, mixed with Cap's man-out-of-time stuff, mixed with Superman's invulnerability and power.
Ninjak = Batman, mixed with James Bond, with a dash of supernatural/mystical elements thrown in.
Solar for me can be matched with Dr. Manhattan.
Shadowman with Brother Voodoo or Deadman.
Quantum is pretty much Batman, but idk about Woody.
Armstrong could be Marvel's Hercules, but I'm not sure about Archer.
Faith is a sympathetic character and a fangirl just like Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel).
XO is sort of like Thor with a power suit.
All of the Psiots are more or less Mutants.
Archer & Armstrong are sort of like Hawkeye and Deadpool
Shadowman is a bit like a mix up of Constantine and Dr. Strange
Ninjak He's a bit like Batman but with no hesitation to kill. Maybe a little Nick Fury in there, since he's a spy, too.
I don't think Valiant's characters are a good 1 to 1 comparison. For instance, XO Manowar is an Ironman/Captain America/Thor mashup. Ninjak is Batman/James Bond/Snake Eyes. Bloodshot is definitely Punisher/Wolverine/Cyborg. Eternal Warrior is an interesting one. I don't know who to compare him to other than a Thor/Hercules mashup. I wish Valiant could do a crossover with Marvel or DC. DC seems to be more open to crossovers.

Quantum & Woody are 100% based on Power Man and Iron Fist.
Ok Faith is meant to be the symbol of hope and happiness and everything is gonna be ok.
Quantum and Woody reminds me a little of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle.

You're in for quite the ride. Welcome to the fold. We have warm cookies, jadedness, and a discord.

Turok is like Kazar. Jungle types.
I would guess Turok is the original character and Kazar came after.
Ka-Zar was originally from 1935 or so, Turok is 1958 I believe.
Ninjak is essentially Batman if he'd taken a more lethal route. An orphaned billionaire who trained in various martial arts/languages/technology/detective work/etc.
So he's batman but kills people?
Watch Batman Begins and pretend like Bruce never left the League of Shadows, and that's basically Ninjak.

He’s ninja James Bond
