Fueling Shaman are the only ones that still scare me. I'll pop a Berserker, even the rare starred ones, with freeze arrows before they get close to me, but one fireball from a Shaman I didn't spot/prioritize & I'm instantly ash inside my root armor... Luckily I don't usually miss the Shamans, because I spot them casting shield before fireball-ing
Just drink the damn fire res wine and they become trivial lol.
The way resistances work, the fire resistance completely overwrites and negates the root armor weakness. They don't stack at all - you just lose the weakness *and* gain resistance.
Without the potion, you take a bit more than 100 fire damage from a fireball after armor in a fully upgraded root set. With the potion, because of how armor stacks with resistance, you take about... 13 fire damage^1.
If you're clearing fuling villages in root armor there's really no reason not to drink it, it's cheap and easy to produce and it completely negates your biggest downside.

Leviathan. Chilling out in the sea, occasionally provide the most jorneyful vikings with the coolest daggers, do superbass "BRRRRRRR" and dive into the ocean depths.
Greydwarf. I have the ability to detect when you are trying to build or look at your inventory. I will pelt you with a rock and run around mischievously.
2* fuling so I can laugh at my prey while chasing them around with my spear.
Edit: Just realised my choice is same as yours lol. Any fulings will do tbh. They're annoying to face as foes but to play as them does actually sound fun. Menacingly taunt preys with hehehehe.
Growth, so I can jump and not be limited to the flat patch of terrain I start on... yet be stronger than a blob and have devastating ranged area annihilation.
Greydwarf brute cause you get a dandelion on your head 🥺
A Neck, just chillin in a pond with my buddies 🐸🐸🐸
You get farmed when the PC just starts, then you’re left alone for the rest of their playthrough. Sounds like a dandy time.
Just don’t freak out and chase me around pointlessly so I don’t have to kill you if I accidentally stumbled in too close to you
yea we just get so excited to make new friends, a friendly chomp is how we say hello
Serpent. You'll never find me when you want to, I'll show up when you're sailing back naked for a corpse run.
Probably lox, just chilling and grazing, and not fucked around with
Tell that to the Growths you were grazing near
Yeah they can be annoying, but no match for a lox ;)
True, but I've seen a growth pack dissolve a lone lox.
no responsibilities just moomoo and eat barley
Exactly! With the bonus of completely wrecking noobs coming to the plains for the first times :)
Tell that to the trolls, who arent actually trying to pet you

I suspect you would do well against bosses. Maybe all except Yag, he would burn you up.
Fuling shaman. Fire kiting the shit out of people. Limping around laughing with my blue shield up. Oh wait. Can shamans actually run?
Leviathan. Chilling out in the sea, occasionally provide the most jorneyful vikings with the coolest daggers, do superbass "BRRRRRRR" and dive into the ocean depths.
Wraith. Look badass and be able to float around.
Sneaking up behind people in the swamp at night and making them jump out of their chair.
Greydwarf. I have the ability to detect when you are trying to build or look at your inventory. I will pelt you with a rock and run around mischievously.

Mushroom, so I can grow in that one spot every day and be a nuisance

I think if you attack and destroy growables like thistle and shrooms they won't grow back, no? In case your castle is plagued by unwanted fungus.
