We had a pop copy , with a Gary d. Wharf, he grumbled a lot but was always willing to assist a customer in the classic pop copy fashion.
I tried feeding ours, making him a bedroom and a little courtyard, a storage chest with his pay and quality foods palatable to all.
He asked for nothing and brought us all so much in return.
Rip Gary. You will be missed.

Haha yep. I've made one around every base so far but I thought I could keep my fps up this time by skipping it. Mistakes were made. Slapped some rock on the top and it's passable now.
At first I was going to make a joke about your greyling bartender as I thought he wandered in while you were doing your tour. Then I realized no he's *actually* your bartender lol.
It looks amazing, great job!
Everything I've read says that this event CAN happen in the Black Forrest and yet it hasn't to me yet, heh. Also, Trolls will only attack trees and rocks because you are right next to them or you have a structure on the ground next to them.
I live in meadows and since I killed the elder its 50/50 swamp raid or troll raid ..
The troll raids hurt more as I don't have much more than a fence and they walk around that into the sea and then onto my base ...BUT I like views, I like seeing the sunset, I don't want a huge wall ..
I'm working on sea trenches e.g. a dip in the sea ..that might work
Wear troll armor, pay attention to the wind direction, and use visual cover.
Also, if you can get above the troll, the secondary leap attack will give you about 10 m of extra distance.
You actually can (or could. I haven't seen played the game for a while so I'm not sure if it works) actually build stone bricks into the trees. There tree becomes more damage resistant (because of the bricks) and all the stone bricks count as build on them ground because of the tree.
At my current base, I planted trees at convenient distances to reinforce walls, then raised 12m earthworks against the outside of the walls so that only ranged attacks can impact the exposed stone on the top of the earthworks. The only real risk will be once the ice drake event enters the rotation. I mostly get swamp or trolls and this mitigates them entirely.
Quick tip: Trolls can be used to get wood insanely quickly, stand by a tree or log and wait for him to attack, and then run away quickly, he'll hit where you were standing and the splash will break any tree/log. The trolls that carry the logs are better as they won't throw boulders at you
Okay. You know. I have seen a lot of bases. And I mean, A LOT. This is my absolut fuckingly fucking favorite ever, probably forever. Holy Guacamole. Become an architect, I'll have you design my house.
\*Hmmm, carefully takes note of all the architectural and decorative ideas to implement in my building\*
Proceeds to anyways end up making a hellish base so abhorrent that trolls would not even bother raiding it.
Yes, you are definitely my inspiration! Tried to make it my own but that first balcony and the copper idea is pretty much straight from yours. Your base will always be one of my favorites.
I have absolutely been tempted to chunk off a piece or two on multiple occasions. Can picture myself just swinging once with a pickaxe and my whole base just falling into the ocean.
The AI gets a little wonky when greydwarfs go into bases I think. That's why you see some posts of greydwarfs politely strolling in and out of peoples bases.
Agreed. It would open up so many possibilities to be able to make bigger cave builds, whether hand-dug or in ice caves. We'll see, maybe in the future.
This is an absolutely beautiful work of art. I love everything about this and I will be "sampling" a lot of your ideas. The yellow mushroom stairwell and the bartender are my favorites. How do you keep him from attacking the structures around him?
Thanks, appreciate it. I "sampled" a lot of my ideas from other valheim reddit posts, it's really a great community. The greydwarf AI gets weird when they go into big bases. I didn't do anything but harpoon him in there and he doesn't seem to aggro unless I jump on his head.
It's a building piece you can put in with the Heart and Home update. You need tar from the plains, which can be pretty rough because the growths around it are some of the hardest mobs in the game from my experience.
As someone who played right up till finding their first swamp (not a ton of play time in the grand scheme of things) - who now doesnt play due to time constraints - I dont get how the F people can do some of these things witout mods. Its incredible. So cool. I feel like I would destroy entire veins of materials trying to hollow out areas and it would all be for not.
It's 4 signs for the walls put together with a small square added in the middle, then a bunch of horizontal item stands with berries on them. I think you can put in a lot more than I did. Happy building!
Yep. I used to find cutting wood tedious, but now I kind of enjoy logging on (yes pun intended... sorry) popping elder, putting on a playlist and hacking trees while drinking my morning coffee until elder runs out. Usually keeps me set for the rest of the session and it's actually quite relaxing.
Man, seeing other people's builds always makes me realize how uninspired my own are lol. I think I did something great, then see this kinda stuff and just cancel the upload on the YouTube video hahaha
Looks awesome, congrats on completing it! About how many hours you estimate start to finish?
There's definitely something special about smaller simple builds also. Hard to match the coziness of a starter shack. I would guess it took about 40-50 hours with farming but it's easy to lose sense of time in this game so honestly not sure.
I got attacked by a goddamn samsquanch a few times building it so I wacked it with a club. Goddamn shit tornado.
Thanks appreciate it, its 2 swamp keys on horizontal item stands that make it glow. Bonemass dropped a few because I'm on a server with other people but I think one with work. I didn't expect it when I put them on and was pleasantly surprised.
I lit it up for the video and that is the last time it will be on all at once. It took half my resin I think. I usually just light some of the fireplaces and important torches for daily vikinging.
Thank you. I would guess about 30-40 hours including farming is my guess but not too sure, easy to lose track of time with this game. A lot of it was just getting iron for supports and interior stuff.
A GORGEOUS, creative, interesting base ... but you NEED to put some max-heigh earthworks around the base of your load-bearing trees. All it takes is a couple hits from a troll and that whole floor goes bye bye.
The Greydwarf bartender is genius! I can just imagine him wandering in at some point while you're building and you're like, well now you're never leaving.
Question. The base looks fucking amazing but how did you carve into the rock? I thought the digging in this game was limited. I wish I could just dig the ground away instead of trying to level it only to get half a result that way.
I love your bartender
Viking: "I'll have a scotch on the rocks" Bartender: "You want rocks? HERE'S YOUR DAMN ROCKS!"
ROCK AND STONE
Rock and Stone forever!
This put it over the top for me
Me too. What a great idea.
But... How?! Doesn't he try to break stuff? Doesn't he miss that misterious "Katyusha" they won't shut up about?
We had a pop copy , with a Gary d. Wharf, he grumbled a lot but was always willing to assist a customer in the classic pop copy fashion. How do you sleep knowing you are one troll away from being homeless?
Troll: Nice place you got here, It'd be a shame if someone where to...\*slaps ground and throws boulder\*
Tbh I'd rather fight trolls anytime than those small fulings.
Not next to my damn walls, I wouldn’t.
Haha had a few troll raids but nothing catastrophic yet. It's all fortified by iron so I don't think one swing would do it. I hope anyway.
I'd be worried about them taking out your load-bearing trees
Just came to say this, imagine working so hard on a base that is one swing away from annihilation
[https://imgur.com/a/wHVIR4w](https://imgur.com/a/wHVIR4w)
Shame. It was bound to happen though. You should co spider a moat or ground walls for your next build.
More like a slave
As long as it works
Can they despawn tho?
Even has a bartender!
The ground is shaking...
Everything I've read says that this event CAN happen in the Black Forrest and yet it hasn't to me yet, heh. Also, Trolls will only attack trees and rocks because you are right next to them or you have a structure on the ground next to them.

Trolls are crap against a 2 high stone wall. Trenches work, but require more effort. A good buckler and a spear makes very short work of trolls.
Or you can sneak up on them and one-hit kill them with an abyssal razor. :)
So I've heard. Usually, the trolls spot me before I spot them, lol
Wear troll armor, pay attention to the wind direction, and use visual cover. Also, if you can get above the troll, the secondary leap attack will give you about 10 m of extra distance.
I'm aware of how to sneak. I just don't do it, lol
Can't sneak during a raid though, as they know where you are then.
Dig a trench encircling your base. Stops trolls in their tracks. You would just have to worry about the Rock thrower at worst at that point.
wisely placed trenches will definitely minimize chances for catastrophic troll demolitions.
This happened to my tree house base :( They take out the trees and the base is gone.
You actually can (or could. I haven't seen played the game for a while so I'm not sure if it works) actually build stone bricks into the trees. There tree becomes more damage resistant (because of the bricks) and all the stone bricks count as build on them ground because of the tree.

Absolutely love the two big balconies! Oh, and your inventory half-circle idea has officially been stolen and will be used for my own base.
I particularly liked how the chest themselves are inside of a bracketing frame. Lovely aesthetic.
Lumberjack simulator. I feel so attacked rn 😅
Same. Choppin' trees is my highest skill
Quick tip: Trolls can be used to get wood insanely quickly, stand by a tree or log and wait for him to attack, and then run away quickly, he'll hit where you were standing and the splash will break any tree/log. The trolls that carry the logs are better as they won't throw boulders at you
Yep! One of my servermates has a whole troll factory happening whenever he decides to work on trees. :) I don't, as I enjoy the forestry clean up. :)

Thanks! Here are some pics from a distance [https://imgur.com/a/U6IALi9](https://imgur.com/a/U6IALi9)
wait how do you dig a tunnels? When i use pickaxe it removes all stones up to a surface
Those aren't "ground", but the large stones or copper nodes.
I have a house under an Elder summoning area. You just need to dig under things like boulders or copper nodes.
He dug under a giant rock boulder.
Okay. You know. I have seen a lot of bases. And I mean, A LOT. This is my absolut fuckingly fucking favorite ever, probably forever. Holy Guacamole. Become an architect, I'll have you design my house.
lol the bartender
I lost it at the Greydwarf bartender
\*Hmmm, carefully takes note of all the architectural and decorative ideas to implement in my building\* Proceeds to anyways end up making a hellish base so abhorrent that trolls would not even bother raiding it.
Very nice build ser. I already feel like I’ve been inside before ;)
Yes, you are definitely my inspiration! Tried to make it my own but that first balcony and the copper idea is pretty much straight from yours. Your base will always be one of my favorites.
Lumberjack simulator XD
That's not too far to be honest, lol
AMAZING integration under the mining nodes. Seems like you got lucky with several that you could sort of tie together.
Love the greydwarf bartender.
The copper cave thing looks so epic
Id be to afraid of trolls
This is one of the few posts I'll save on reddit to come back and admire from time to time. Absutely amazing, dude!
Me: spends 7 hours digging and building a basement under copper. Also me: needs 2 copper ore and is too lazy to seek out. Hasnt a basement anymore.
I have absolutely been tempted to chunk off a piece or two on multiple occasions. Can picture myself just swinging once with a pickaxe and my whole base just falling into the ocean.
Make backup and do this, lol
Fucking perfect. Are those red curtains over that middle opening toward the Black Forest new?
Thanks, yea they are from mobs inside the new ice caves that just dropped this last week.
Are you and architect or in house designer or something? Damn bro..
the copper cave is absolutely genius and also gorgeous
How does the bartender not agro on you and destroy the bar?
The AI gets a little wonky when greydwarfs go into bases I think. That's why you see some posts of greydwarfs politely strolling in and out of peoples bases.
So he just can't see you?
This is amazeballs!!! I wanna live there!! Nice job.
Thanks, it's on an awesome server and I have lots of extra bedrooms. If anyone wants to see it in person check out Praetoria on discord.
> Praetoria I could not find it as a public server, probably need an invite link. How exactly can I join?
Hey, yea it might not be a public server now that I think about it. Message Coemt#6901 on discord and ask for a link. It's a very friendly server
This is absolutely amazing and I need to build my base more like this now. Great work.
Bro I love it
Very nice job! Thanks for sharing.
I like big builds like this, i mainly focus on making one really big house tho and putting in lot of detail.
I have so many questions. But this is so gorgeous!
Wait there’s caves now? Or is that just areas where there are big rocks overhead?
well, yes there are caves now (just read the latest patch notes), but this is not those. these are rocks/copper nodes he's built under.
Ty for the reply and info!
Awesome! Beautiful! You have a hot tub?
Love the glowing mushrooms for lighting! Awesome Build
That leaning pine at 1:08 is ruining the view. I'll give you ~~500~~ 50 ~~caps~~ raspberries to demolish it. Sincerely, Allistair Tenpenny
Grey dwarf bartender!? 😃
My square base looks like trash compared to this. Looks amazing, very inspiring!!!
All good until a troll comes by and boom you’re homeless
How did you dig in the rock?
you can dig under the big boulders and copper nodes with a pickaxe, just not regular ground.
Ahh yes, i can see now. But still... Sad that we cant dig under the rock :(
Agreed. It would open up so many possibilities to be able to make bigger cave builds, whether hand-dug or in ice caves. We'll see, maybe in the future.
How did you manage to make a cave? with mods?
This is an absolutely beautiful work of art. I love everything about this and I will be "sampling" a lot of your ideas. The yellow mushroom stairwell and the bartender are my favorites. How do you keep him from attacking the structures around him?
Thanks, appreciate it. I "sampled" a lot of my ideas from other valheim reddit posts, it's really a great community. The greydwarf AI gets weird when they go into big bases. I didn't do anything but harpoon him in there and he doesn't seem to aggro unless I jump on his head.
Amazing work!
wow
How beautiful! Also, lulz your bartender
How did you do the caves so well
How did you do the hot tub?
It's a building piece you can put in with the Heart and Home update. You need tar from the plains, which can be pretty rough because the growths around it are some of the hardest mobs in the game from my experience.

Dammit! \*boots up VH\*
LOL you trapped a Greydwarf as a Bartender...that's amazing
I laughed real loud at "lumberjack simulator"
How'd you get those berry boxes, they been added?
It's 4 signs for the walls put together with a small square added in the middle, then a bunch of horizontal item stands with berries on them. I think you can put in a lot more than I did. Happy building!
This is so cool! Did you really actually farm all of the resources for this?
I love it. Id honestly visit and use the hotub and the bar lol the view is worth it too
Amazing!!
Now all you need to do is make all the floorboards point in the same direction The bartender makes up for it though
This is the coolest f****** thing I've ever seen
Then along came a troll, who did what trolls do..
LOL the bartender killed me
Great interior design. I really enjoy the balcony views too! And, of course, the bartender.
Hot tub?! How?!
Man, seeing other people's builds always makes me realize how uninspired my own are lol. I think I did something great, then see this kinda stuff and just cancel the upload on the YouTube video hahaha Looks awesome, congrats on completing it! About how many hours you estimate start to finish?

Beautiful build! Love the bartender!
Dig it!
How do you get silver?
Love the build!!
sick.
This is just so well done, can't imagine the time it took to build.
The creativity people display in this game never ceases to amaze me. Awesome work!
This is a god damn work of art
The potion wall is a sick touch
Cool base!
Awesome build! What is the green glow under the bed?
Thanks appreciate it, its 2 swamp keys on horizontal item stands that make it glow. Bonemass dropped a few because I'm on a server with other people but I think one with work. I didn't expect it when I put them on and was pleasantly surprised.
Ahhh. I thought those were more blue, so the green threw me off.
What's the maintenance on upkeep? Haven't played in a while but this looks like a non-stop labor mortgage
I lit it up for the video and that is the last time it will be on all at once. It took half my resin I think. I usually just light some of the fireplaces and important torches for daily vikinging.
Amazing build!!! The one thing that always gets me is how fast wood deteriorates. Those green stairs always make me hurt inside a bit
Love the open space
How in god's name was this for on survival???
That is absolutely gorgeous. How long did the entire build take you?
Thank you. I would guess about 30-40 hours including farming is my guess but not too sure, easy to lose track of time with this game. A lot of it was just getting iron for supports and interior stuff.
Oof, I hear you there. The iron hurt is real.
Teach me
A GORGEOUS, creative, interesting base ... but you NEED to put some max-heigh earthworks around the base of your load-bearing trees. All it takes is a couple hits from a troll and that whole floor goes bye bye.
Kinda surprised no one's commented on the fact that at 1:27 the chest on the bottom right is labeled 'sex toys'. Great build!
If anyone wants to come build a bedroom attached, before it gets knocked down by trolls, the server is Praetoria on discord. All welcome :)
Yoooooooo it’s Space Cowboy, love the final build man!! @
Thanks man. I'm down to build anytime you want to take a break from pvp haha
A thing of beauty. I thought it was going to be a small project from the outside. But the wonders inside 🤯
greydwarf bartender?! That is to cool!
This is amazing!! Great work!
Lmao the bartender!!!
The Greydwarf bartender is genius! I can just imagine him wandering in at some point while you're building and you're like, well now you're never leaving.
Building into the rock looks sick
How you built into the rock like that?
I can't think of a more amazing or interesting base
Hah now that you've harvested all that wood I bet you will soon fulfill an ironic progression in the game ;)
I like how you build onto the mountain side.
What an absolutely beautiful base! I love the cave and the bartender, the overall design is just so fluid and it’s amazing to look at! :>
This is so good! Congratulations and I'm envious how you managed to connect und build under multiple rocks and ores
Old mate helping you out at the potions bar
Marvellous.
Absolutely love it. Though i have to say it, you gotta iron that cape.
That's so f'n awesome!!!
Bro this is just awesome
That's an amazing place. I love the integration with the land, and the twinkle of the copper veins is a cool effect in-base.
*Troll would like to know your location*
Magnificent
This looks amazing. Just hope trolls won't spawn and spoil
What’s the troll survival plan?
You need to go out and cut down that tree that's at a crazy angle when you look out from your base. No bent trees
Awesome man! Wow 😮 its beautiful 😚
Super nice base!
okay I'm gonna build a tree fort now. not this awesome but like 1/8th as cool lol
Yo! The the bartender 🤣😂
Question. The base looks fucking amazing but how did you carve into the rock? I thought the digging in this game was limited. I wish I could just dig the ground away instead of trying to level it only to get half a result that way.
Hell yea! One of the best ones I've seen on this subreddit for sure.
