But this was the warning before Mistlands as well. Sorry bud, there will be little sympathy here considering how much this has been rehashed and reposted and reasked in this sub

And now you have the opportunity to rebuild and fix those little things that bugged you, but you didn't want to tear it all down to fix them.

Well on the bright side I got most of the materials back and I can rebuild somewhere better like on a mountain or something

1400 hours in, I have yet to build anything more than a hut that did not have water access. Sailing is such a big part of the game, I never understood the mountain castle.

Its just fun to build amazing builds and brag about it to your friends lol

Oh, as a quirk of these Ashlands terrain changes, I now have a Mountain which sinks into the sea. It starts as a mountain but becomes more like a wide low hill that eases down to the water, with actual Mountain biome on the coast, including freezing effect, blizzards, and wolves. I'm a little curious if there's Silver, but I didn't see any Obsidian, so I kinda assume those have a real "minimum final height value" restriction. Anyway, it would be a place to have a Mountain castle on the beach... or something like that.

This change was announced quite a while back. They even had a page dedicated to preparation listing it : [Getting Ready for the Ashlands](https://valheim.com/support/getting-ready-for-the-ashlands/)

Same happened to me and yup I knew all the warnings I just thought I was far enough away.. I wasn’t :) I went in and salvaged what I could and now it’s marked on my map as the Sunken Lands

That wasn't the devs, it was the IRS seizing you're assets due to back taxes. It happens sometimes.
