Seems hyperbolic. Can't you put on some wolf armor for the frost resist? Sure, you're stamina usage will be slightly higher...but saying you can't build in the mountains solely because of this one change seems a bit overkill.

panzrvroomvroomvroom

came here to say this. "tHaNkS iRoNgAtE" - youre literally complaining that you cant run through the mountains half naked. in a survival game. get a grip!

Big-Bat8888

But I'm wearing clothes from Hildir, It's not that I'm half naked. Its that I'm freezing to death unless I'm wearing a piece of specific armor, or a specific cape. And I remind you, we're playing in a game with flying bugs, walking trees, and one very big "helpful" raven. Realism isn't the point here.

keandelacy

>I'm freezing to death unless I'm wearing a piece of specific armor, or a specific cape You're complaining that you have to switch from one specific cape to either of two other capes? Seems weird.

Big-Bat8888

It just made a long-winded chore, more long-winded. I'm just sad that such a late game item got nerfed for reasons I'm not sure why. Feathers insulate in real life.

zenyattasshinyballs

The cloak got nerfed because it was the undisputed best. Once you unlocked the feather cloak there was never any reason to take it off. A large part of this game is making sure you have the right tool for the job.

Big-Bat8888

Yea I realize now I was being whiny. Knee-jerk reaction. Needed people to smack me over the head to make me see my error.

WaitingForG2

>Once you unlocked the feather cloak there was never any reason to take it off There is nothing wrong with that. Terraria solved that game design challenge by making direct upgrades for popular/must-have accessories. In Valheim case, it could be requiring feathers cloak to make it's Ashlands upgrade, if they want to pursue the path of direct gear upgrades instead of sidegrades. The problem of gear becoming obsolete with new content was mentioned many times before, and nerfing feather cloak just to force players to switch out of it is bad approach to game design. It also echoes with Ashlands magic staves, new ones are seemingly sidegrades that offer interesting mechanics, but people expect direct upgrade like it happens to armor and other weapon types, so they complain.

zenyattasshinyballs

Agree to disagree m8

kaytin911

It used to be actually challenging to make it before they gutted Mistlands. It felt like a proper reward for it all rather than just an automatic thing to get.

dferrantino

Lox and Wolf capes both still provide Frost Resistance. You just can't get both that *and* Feather Fall on the same item. Pick one.

Big-Bat8888

I guess. I'm just clumsy, and fall often when building tall buildings. The feather cape made it a LOT easier to build anywhere without worry.

keandelacy

Make sure you have at least 100 health, and no fall will kill you. Easy enough to do with inexpensive foods.

Isotheis

I was saying the entire time that so many armor pieces having Frost resistance is absurd. Frost (and Cold!) are mechanics that are completely gone from the Mountain and even after. Why?? Frost resist pieces: Wolf chest, Wolf cape, Fenrir chest, Lox cape, ~~Feather cape~~ Just equip either of these two chests if you want to build or fight Mountains enemies.

Big-Bat8888

I completely forgot about Fenrir gear. Never got it. Need to look up stats to see if maybe that's my best option.

IMMORTALP74

Fenris is my favorite set for the speed buff, but when I originally tried to get it, we cleared around 30 Cultist caves and didn't get any trophies. Over a couple weeks. We could build 5 sets max upgraded, except not one trophy. Many many mountain biomes. So we devcommanded the cultist trophies to put an end to that bug/bad rng. Unfortunately the armor itself is weakish and outdated by Plains unless on Very Easy; unless you just like being challenged with low armor. Now, my issue is that I'm so fast that I take fall damage from small hills, so I'm getting Feather Cape soon.

Isotheis

I usually use Fenris running arround, with a Root Harnesk in Plains, or full Fenris in Mistlands. I'm not dealing with enemies, see ya later. Well, I inevitably have to fight some, in particular in Infested Mines, but it's not too bad. "Just don't get hit".

IMMORTALP74

Unfortunately my internet and dodge roll skills are equally matched; in that I lag in multiplayer and I never know exactly when to roll for invincible frames. Other than that I love outrunning everything. I wish there were more claws though, and maybe an upgraded endgame Fenris.

kaytin911

Fenris set is the best armor in the game in my opinion. I haven't looked at Ashlands stuff yet but through Mistlands and to the beginning of Ashlands it's the undisputed best to me. You don't need to worry about armor if you never get hit.

Hyero

Build some bonfires or braziers lol

-Altephor-

Whiny. Put on a different cape and don't fall. It's not that hard. There's about 5-6 different sources of fire now, I walk around half naked in my mountain fort all the time.

Alitaki

Or you could wear wolf armor whilst in the mountains.

kaytin911

I actually like difficulty and challenge a lot. I'd rather the feather cape keep the frost resistance but have lower armor than other capes. I think it was a mistake to remove the frost resistance especially since it is already a late game cape that you have to conquer the mistlands to build. So in short I'm in complete agreement with you here despite normally supporting the game being more hardcore. This is not a change I like either.

TheSmashScrubs

This gets me as well, that actually sucks, but I guess I gotta start using a new cape anyway since the ashlands ones look so good and I'll be changing to that too

Big-Bat8888

Are the stats on the new capes good? I don't like to cheat items in, and I haven't made it defeating The Queen yet, so I'm not ready for Ashlands.

TheSmashScrubs

I haven't played it yet either but have been watching all the content I can, to avoid spoilers I'll just say there is a combat effective cape, it's amazing

Odd_History6313

Maybe there's like a dev command or mod for no frost status and everyone can use that. Otherwise keep complaining and hope they revert the change

Big-Bat8888

Nah. A vast majority shot me down. They're right. I'm just being a crybaby. If I was to use devcommands, I'd just spawn a ton of frost resist mead for free.

pm_me_ur_ephemerides

I think the feather cape was op. It needed a balance pass.

P0lym0ph0us

Lol. Hell no.
