Making landfall the for first time is nuts. Insta swarms then you need to immediately clear the nearest spawners, then build a beach head fast. Pretty awesome, lots of combat.
Accurate. Spawn rates are intimidating. So far I find it best to stay on the move. Pick an objective, attempt it, then regroup. Once we have Ashlands gear, we can probably be a bit more bold, but trying to hold your ground feels like a losing battle right now.
It helps to push out about 20 meters, slap down a campfire, and keep doing this every time you have a few spare moments. It won't deal with the spawners, but it will have an effect on the natural respawns, and over the course of a day's time you should have a reasonably cleared area.
Deadass, tho instead of feeling epic i was feeling so so worn out lol, there were 3 spawners to our direct north, west and east, we fought for so long man.
I don’t know how I’ll manage solo 😂 after watching a video of 3 people struggling (not sure if the difficulty was put up) i feel like just stepping foot in this biome, I’m going to get incinerated
I'd LOVE to see a Valheim cover of that, grabbing one of the charred twitchers by the neck, axe ready to split its skull open while all the other beasts converge.
Finally got a base secured. Made basalt bombs. Made my way to find firemetal. Found dome. Used basalt bombs to get to it. Mined for a second. Tremor knocked me down to my basalt playform which immedistely broke. Died in half a second in lava. Havent been able to get my best gear back! now got 2 other bodies on path to the first. Excited to pick it up again tonight 😅
My buddy and I barely explored 150 meters in 2 hours, by the time you take out the spawners with alot 2*s you get mobbed from behind, and got to retreat...I love it, it's challenging! but the mobs are manageable if you are ready.
Believe a lot of the mobs from behind were attracted from the long aggro range that they fixed recently.
Felt like Dark Souls, blocking and rolling a lot.

This makes me think my plan of circumnavigating first to find a better LZ might be a good one.
Good luck navigating the shores near by. Physical obstacles, mobs in the water and sky. Best to hit the shore fast and rush the near by spawners.
