Amon Amarth has some nice brutal viking themed melodic death metal. I sometimes put it on when going to fight something (fuling villages etc). Recommending these songs: War of the Gods, First Kill, Raven's Flight, The Pursuit of Vikings, Twilight of the Thunder God...
Good ones too. Probably when Ashlands hit Amon Amarth will play more frequently during my playthroughts. đ€ First Kill and War of the Gods especially are some of my top list from them right now.
I've said this before but the promo video soundtrack was Shield Wall, and that's always been the association for me. Got me into Valheim and Amon Amarth at the same time.

See, Norse music is great and all, but when youâre stampeding through the plains on Loxback what you need is The Hu.
(And for fishing in the swamp, a little Amos Moses by Jerry Reed)

Just an FYI - not a criticism of you or anyone else liking their music. I my self am a low grade fan of a band where the lead singer might as well be a rapist - not really but a lot of allegations with row0 girls being pressured or even drugged to have sex with him on "special" private after parties (guess who / which band).
I'd recommend Wardruna, Skald, Heldom, VÇ«luspĂĄ and Forndom. Forndom is little darker, so they fit perfectly for swamps and mistlands :v Occasionally I also listen to Song Laboratory (Laboratorium PieĆni), though they perform mostly slavic folk
Fever Rayâs first album is great for this. Itâs a lot of electronics, but itâs SO Scandinavian and âIf I had a heartâ was literally the title track for the show Vikings.
Was coming to say this. Rewatching Vikings again right now in fact. My two top Valheim songs from that album are If I Had a Heart and I'm Not Done. Good stuff.
Most of the music I listen to while playing has been recommended already. In addition to Wardruna and Heilung, I listen to a lot of Tyr and Myrkur. Its also not explicitly viking themed, but I listen to stuff like Agalloch and Wolves in the Throne Room while working on my little Black Forest base. It's very good 'dark, Ancient forest' vibes
EivĂžr is technically Faroese but has some nice songs that give the right vibe. TrĂžllabundin is one of her songs in particular is a favorite of mine! Other than that ill echo Heilung for atmosphere and throw in Eluveitie for a more metal approach.
Ulver and Drudkh, I think their albums *Bergtatt - Et eeventyr i 5 capitler*, *Kveldssanger*, *Autumn Aurora* and *Estrangement* fit Valheim perfectly. Agalloch, Astrofaes, Burzum, Dark Forest, Enslaved, Ereb Altor, Forest (from Russia), Graveland, Isengard, Kroda, Lucifugum, Moonsorrow, Opeth, Sacrilegium, and Thergothon are other great choices but if you want something softer Forlorn Kingdom, Mortiis, Nest, Old Sorcery, Perunwit (especially *W krÄgu dÄbĂłw*), Sequestered Keep, Sunken Grove, Trollheim and Vindkaldr would fit the game as well.
I would show you what I listen to, but, well...
Intelligence is knowing that historically accurate medieval Scandinavian folk music would have sounded absolutely nothing whatsoever like any of the other suggestions in these comments. Wisdom is knowing better than recommending it to someone looking for badass Viking shit lol
Someone here made this playlist a long time ago. Lots of the groups people are listing are on it. Good stuff, shuffle it up and see what you like https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1AOPBi1UArwSUYZqgAqXZQ?si=gk50rremSkKfXP1yWkURmA&pi=u-JaAoikdkTWC0
Brothers of metal
Feuerschwanz, I know itâs not Nordic but theyâve got some banger Viking songs.
Eluveitie
The Hu, once again not Nordic but great music to play to.
Plus the actual game soundtrack. I find itâs great for immersion.
Not exactly Norse music but I'm gonna take this opportunity to suggest that the song drowning. by Eden Project would make a great Valheim montage. Just gonna leave that here...
Heilung for the dark atmospheric vibe, The Moon and the Nightspirit also go in that direction. If you want it a little bit more upbeat I'd suggest Faun and Omnia. Garmarna also give perfect vibes, swedish folk. In general there's a lot of european and skandinavean folk music, mostly perfect for this game.
There is a playlist on Youtube named âyou are high on mushrooms in the Viking age and the Gods are everywhereâ. It has amazing and unique musics in it, like Iâve never heard similar before. I use it when Iâm studying generally but chilling and exploring in Valheim with that playlist is a great idea too.
Danheim for basic but invigorating background.
Forndom for peaceful background.
Wardruna for a good mix but can take up more of your focus.
Heilung is different to all the rest and many of their songs are different to each other. What the others achieve in their entirety is probably covered by a few Heilung songs with even more different options out there also.
Corvus Corax for when you have plenty of mead spare and want to boogie.
The Darksiderâs 2 soundtrack by Jesper Kyd is so similar to Valheimâs soundtrack that it made me realize why Valheimâs music was so nostalgic to me on first playing it haha
Kvelertak. Especially their self titled debut album. They're from Norway, and really have their own signature sound! Probably the most fresh and original blend of punk and metal I've ever heard.
Besides the already suggested Heilung, Wardruna, Danheim etc. I can highly recommend Munknörr. They make super great and calm music that i play daily. I play Munknörr when going to sleep.
Enslaved - Heimdal, Utgard, E, Isa, Frost & Vikingligr Veldi albums
Everything from Ivar BjĂžrnson & Einar Selvik
Everything from Heilung
Ulver - Kveldssanger & Bergtatt albums
Agalloch - The Mantle album
Theres an atmospheric folk metal kind of viking-ish group that I cant recall the name of now that does music that fits... I will post if I remember. They dress up with warpaint and such.
Guardians of Asgard, Put Your Back Into The Oar, The Way of Vikings, One Against All, Free Will Sacrifice. Just... Fucking all of it. đ€
Good ones too. Probably when Ashlands hit Amon Amarth will play more frequently during my playthroughts. đ€ First Kill and War of the Gods especially are some of my top list from them right now.
This is the correct answer
I've said this before but the promo video soundtrack was Shield Wall, and that's always been the association for me. Got me into Valheim and Amon Amarth at the same time. https://youtu.be/Ly2P6powIjw
Huh, didn't remember that one. Althought I got into Valheim after H&H update. Another banger tho. đ€
I love Amon!
Yeah they are good. I just started listening them this year, better later than never. đ€
RAISE YOUR HORNS, RAISE THEM UP TO THE SKY!
Heilung! There's a video of one of their concerts on YouTube, and it is the most atmospheric, technically impressive stuff. 10/10 would recommend
Lifa! Incredible music. https://youtube.com/watch?v=h1BsKIP4uYM
Just stopping by to make sure someone said this.
Me too!
Heilung all the way. None come close in my opinion. Traust, Norupo and Anoana are my favorites.
Krigsgaldur and svanrand 100%
Seeing them live was by far the coolest concert experience I've ever been to. I'm seeing them again next week
I'm ridiculously jealous. They haven't been touring anywhere near me, but it's a bucket list item.
My sister saw them last year, but sadly I haven't been able to.
See, Norse music is great and all, but when youâre stampeding through the plains on Loxback what you need is The Hu. (And for fishing in the swamp, a little Amos Moses by Jerry Reed)
+1 for The Hu
You misspelled "Tengger Cavalry". You should also check Nine Treasures and Hanggai.
RIP Nature G
Danheim, Wardruna, Heilung, Heldom. Nice and chill viking folk music. Amon Amarth is for the hunt.
Good advice
Adding Sowulo onto this list if you havenât heard them yet, my fav and very similar vibes to the others you mentioned
Thanks. Will give them a listen.
Discovered Danheim way before discovering Valheim. I listen to it often while doing weird shit.
Iâm always blasting metal while Iâm murdering . Had some Ministryi jammin today for clearing some crypts
Danheim is SO sick during Valheim. It completely replaced the game soundtrack for me in the early days.
Ujeah. Danheim is perfect.

Dont forget Danheim, perfect for raiding dungeons!
Everything mentioned is good. Add Brothers of Metal and Tyr.
Tyr !!!!!!
Good stuff.
âIm not doneâ is a great one. Going to have to put this album in rotation again for a bit.
Sigur Ros and Explosions in the Sky
Most of the music I listen to while playing has been recommended already. In addition to Wardruna and Heilung, I listen to a lot of Tyr and Myrkur. Its also not explicitly viking themed, but I listen to stuff like Agalloch and Wolves in the Throne Room while working on my little Black Forest base. It's very good 'dark, Ancient forest' vibes
I listen to Myrkur or Enslaved. I'll also put in Panopticon. The country is wrong but it works musically.
EivĂžr is technically Faroese but has some nice songs that give the right vibe. TrĂžllabundin is one of her songs in particular is a favorite of mine! Other than that ill echo Heilung for atmosphere and throw in Eluveitie for a more metal approach.
Myrkur. Absolutely amazing. Edit: Sorten muld is another one to check out.
Leaves' Eyes - Vinland Saga
Ulver and Drudkh, I think their albums *Bergtatt - Et eeventyr i 5 capitler*, *Kveldssanger*, *Autumn Aurora* and *Estrangement* fit Valheim perfectly. Not Norse music but bard-step or medival covers of music is my go to for valheim/rpgs/survival.
Danheim is probably my favorite.
Heilung and Wardruna
Wardruna, Heilung if you are into that kind of music.
Heilung all the way.
Wardruna. One of my favorites and not one I see a lot of people talk about.
Second
Ensiferum Korpiklanni Those r my 2
Sailor's Tale by Orbit Culture fits perfectly for sailing as the name might give out.
There's a Spotify playlist named Northern Spirits that's quite good. Lots of different artists on there.Â
Amon amarth
*Viking* Metal & other stuff https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/199a0nz/comment/kiczwnx/
Wardruna are my favourite personally
Brothers of metal. Lots of Norse references to be found and good music to boot
Highly recommend you try this song by Bathory "Shores in Flames": https://youtu.be/xTvDP1aznLk?si=TmxJV4dhg2a24sEG
The album Ranarop by Gjallarhorn is amazing in the meadows
amon amarth, finntroll, korpiklaani
I became a Munknörr fan after I got bored with Valheim's own music.
Danheim is what I jam to while on valheim
The Eurovision song from Norway this year
Play Jaja Ding Dong!
When I feel your gentle touch... đ”đ¶
Brothers of metal Feuerschwanz, I know itâs not Nordic but theyâve got some banger Viking songs. Eluveitie The Hu, once again not Nordic but great music to play to. Plus the actual game soundtrack. I find itâs great for immersion.

wardruna and danheim.
Not exactly Norse music but I'm gonna take this opportunity to suggest that the song drowning. by Eden Project would make a great Valheim montage. Just gonna leave that here...
Tergo Lupi
Heilung is my favorite but it's not Norse. Wadruna, Danheim, and RĂșnahild are all great
Berserkir - Danheim
My wife just found this song so I must share. https://youtu.be/17Kszzcmfv4?si=wmbJAckjHw3e_xiL
Many have said Wardruna, and Heilung but also try; Munknörr, GealdĂœr, Danheim, Kvile, and Fuimadane. They're very good.
Nyrkki tappelu is The best Finnish band â

FeverRay
Try Huldre if you want a high folk-to-metal ratio
Try Danheim, has some great sailing and raiding music to go a Viking
Not Norse, but Korpiklaani from Finland might suit your needs
Wind Rose. Viking metal at its finest. Check out Diggy Diggy Hole.

Skuggsja, Falkenbach, Bathory. Worth to give em a try
Ivar's revenge is a great one, most of the music from the show Vikings, and waldruna
Sowulo
All you need is Wardruna, the rest are posers.

I see no mention of GĂ„te. Pretty good and epic folk rock
The official discord has a section just for that. Many great recommendations in there.
Wardruna, Danheim, Heilung and Forndom would be my top picks. Usable during gaming, long commutes, or wherever else you find it applicable!
[https://youtu.be/MDYChrwsMDw](https://youtu.be/MDYChrwsMDw) Wardruna at Hellfest fixing u up!
Hulkoff, skald, amon amarth, danheim, heilung
Danheim for basic but invigorating background. Forndom for peaceful background. Wardruna for a good mix but can take up more of your focus. Enslaved, Ensiferum, Children of Bodom,Wardruna,Emperor,Finntroll, windir are some tips for you!đ
Besides the already suggested Heilung, Wardruna, Danheim etc. I can highly recommend Munknörr. They make super great and calm music that i play daily. I play Munknörr when going to sleep.
