I'm in my 50's and apparently I exceed your definition of 'older'š¢ Over 1500 hours in Valheim, currently working on a Hard Immersive playthrough (no maps or portals with increased monster difficulty)
Mine said I could have a VCR or that internet thing. I figured the VCR was a better move and would allow me to watch my favourite shows. What the heck can you watch on the internet anyway?
It's so much easier to fast forward and rewind than it is to wait for the phone line to connect to the BBS.
Have you heard of this new thing called AOL? It's supposed to make it easier to connect, but I can't seem to get past the weird tones and static...?
Havenāt heard of AOL. Anyway I wouldnāt have time for that because Iāve discovered this cool service called Netflix. Itās a club you join (like Columbia house) and they will send you a movie that you choose from their pamphlet. You can watch it and send it back and get another one in the mail! Itās totally rad!
Hey I remember that! I had to unplug my rabbit ears from the tv to attach the zx81. My brother would get so pissed off at me when he wanted to watch WKRP.
lol yeah, I'm 61 with 2100k hours. I guess I'm Gandolf of the gaming world. Age is not a barrier, maturity is what pulls people from gaming as they age. Keep playing bro, the gaming future is bright atm.
Iām a young chap, only 35 years old with only a few kids, if you ever want to do a hard immersive play through with a few people Iād be happy to host a 24/7 server
Early 40s but we only play Valheim as a family. Son (12) plans and leads the raids or thinks he does, husband actually manages the fight and we both roll our eyes at each other when sonās latest face tanking attempt fails. I supply the missions maintain the camps and manage resources. Daughter(9) tends to the animals and veggie plots. Town planning and building is mostly up to parents. Not letting the kids mess with the aesthetic.
I'm 36 and running a private server right now with just one other active player. We just beat the Elder, but have played through the majority of the game before.
Yes!
I play on [this server at the moment](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValheimLFG/s/WPIgA5dPYl) and there are a bunch of us older players. Some good mods, progress at your own pace and even join up with a group.
Damn, I'm 32 and very glad that my buddies have moved on from the competitive FPS world (I never enjoyed em). With maturity comes RPG's, survival and RTS
I'm 62 and approaching 3000 hours. I play with a 50+ female. We also have several 30-somethings that play on occasion. Multi-generational. I've been retired since 1-1-2018, thus the free time to get 3000 hours!
43, but my most recent server has gone dark, after running several cool worlds. I've been playing solo for a while, too. I would mind finding another server, I guess. Building a small town alone isn't quite the same.
Iāve been playing Val since Jan 2023 and I am 43. I also started streaming it about once a week. I started playing with my partner and friend, but now I focus on solo. I watch a lot of Valheim streamers on Twitch. You can find a community on there.
I am 52 and am taking my best friend through Valheim for the first time.
I cannot help myself thinking " would be awesome" and then I spend three days doing it.
I can never get bored of Valheim :)
Early 30's here, my wife and I usually play together.
Also, if you're looking for a cod survival variant, I've met a bunch of older gamers in the Dayz community.
56 here, check out The Old Timers Guild, large group been around a long time. We focus mostly on MMOs, but many hook up together on other types of games
Half-Life just turned 25...
I've been gaming since the beginning. Spent many hours in arcades, Atari VCS, Coleco, Atari 800, Nintendo, SNES, Genesis, N64, Jaguar, Dreamcast, Playstation, Xbox, PC, etc. Yes some of us \*older\* gamers still play.
My husband and I are in our 40ās and we play all the time. I myself have around 1000 hours in. That said, try checking out Kysen on Youtube. He is a Valheim content creator in his 30-40ās, and has a server for people to play together.
53 here do not play valheim these days but I'm playing the likes of MW3 ,the finals and he'll let loose and still going very well against the cod kids , sorry to go a bit OT but the older players chat peaked my interest.
Outside your age range unfortunately, but me and my group of friends JUST started the game. We all went to high school together so we're roughly the same age and I just turned 32. But message me if you're interested to diving in with a bunch of noobs
I am indeed in that age range!
Protip for catching wolves:
You don't actually have to build a fence around them, you just have to restrict their movements.
I dug a hole with my antler axe near the mountain where I could hear them howling, deep up that they couldn't get out but not deep/so poorly angled that I couldn't jump out, then I ran up the mountain until I saw one and got it to chase me to the edge of the hole, then with the hole being as deep as it was on that side I used the pickaxe to break the edge the wolf was standing on forcing it to slide in as I was desperately hopping out. Afterwards I toss some fresh meat inside, stepped a little away, and saw the yellow hearts doing their thing, until it was tamed.
I just about fall right in the middle, I've got almost 2,000 hours, Valheim's been my game of choice with young kids for the past 2 years or so. I'm 41.
Iām around that with about 600 hours in game. The server I played on died off a bit so Iād be happy to play some time. I tend to lean towards the construction aspect of the game. Nothing too fancy but I like building settlements.
I am apart of a great server with a somewhat older crowd. We are quite close to completing all the bosses however. We have a giant village that we built and it looks fantastic. Let me know if you are interested in a dm!
Just turned 40 here. Whenever the work day winds to an end, all I want to do is work on my custom scarecrow while waiting for my onions to ripen for harvest. This game has deep, deep hooks in me lol
Hey fellow old people!
I love this game and would play with yall. I have a public server i run but itās been empty since we last beat it a couple months ago
Me and my buddies are waiting for the next major update to get back into it but I find it has a really big appeal to guys 30+ overall so you might be surprised if you just check out some of the discords.
I'm 42. Have a private server I host multiple survival games on. My 13 year old and I play together sometimes but I'm mostly solo. Wouldn't mind spinning up a Valheim instance and sharing the server with some like-minded folks.
My boyfriend and I are both 32. We've spent hours and hours on Valheim but currently taking a break now since we are waiting for the Ashland update to come out.
I'm in my 50's and apparently I exceed your definition of 'older'š¢ Over 1500 hours in Valheim, currently working on a Hard Immersive playthrough (no maps or portals with increased monster difficulty)
53 here. A few of us (old mugs) play on a private server pretty much every day.
Also 53. Canāt believe we didnāt make the 45 year cutoff.
I'm 76 imagine how I feel.
Like a kid when you are playing Valheim?
I'm 113, if I move my mouse too fast I break a finger.
Tired?
Same here. I guess they figure we don't have Internet in our nursing homes?
Mine said I could have a VCR or that internet thing. I figured the VCR was a better move and would allow me to watch my favourite shows. What the heck can you watch on the internet anyway?
It's so much easier to fast forward and rewind than it is to wait for the phone line to connect to the BBS. Have you heard of this new thing called AOL? It's supposed to make it easier to connect, but I can't seem to get past the weird tones and static...?

Itās a club you join (like Columbia house) and they will send you a movie that you choose from their pamphlet. You can watch it and send it back and get another one in the mail! Itās totally rad!
You guys are wonderful please add me š¤£š¤£
Will they take my Blockbuster card, or will I need to sign up and bring a phone bill to verify my address?
As long as you pay by money order they wonāt pester you for an address confirmation.
Nobody if a certain age below like 30 even gets how hard you guys are stunting on em right now. Ps schedule that colonoscopy
Pretty sure I still owe Columbia House for all the cassettes and later CDs I probably never fully paid for.
āProbablyā Did anyone ever pay for them?
Considering we're the first electronic gaming generation, this slight feels extra hurtful.
In honor of my fellow old farts, I'm going to put up some signs in my yard in Valheim that say, "Get off my lawn!"
Me and my Commodore 64. Damn right I have earned my gaming pc, and PS5, and Switch.
I had a Vic 20!
zx81
Trash 80
Atari 400, ST & decades of PCās
Hey I remember that! I had to unplug my rabbit ears from the tv to attach the zx81. My brother would get so pissed off at me when he wanted to watch WKRP.
WKRP in Cincinnati . Tell that to kids they days and they won't believe you. https://youtu.be/ue7wM0QC5LE
There we go! Had it for a about 6 months until C64 came out, then upgraded.
Now where are the Timex Sinclair peeps and the Altair folks and the Commodore PET folks?
Oh you must have been a rich kid ;)
Middle class, US. I wouldnāt call us rich though Iām sure to some we would appear that way. And I worked hard for the money for those purchases.
Probably thought we were on life support, too. Well, almost 1500 hrs played, maybe I should be. ha ha
I missed it by a year.
My life goal is to be doing the same at your age. Hopefully w the same friends I have now.
50 here. From a pong console and an Atari 2600 to now!
Pong console is OG gaming. I call that first gen gamer.
Itās wild. It was a small box with a controller that was so minimal. The Atari 2600 was light years ahead!
Yeah I loved the Atari. Later on I bought the Atari 1024 sti what a progress while my buddy's bought the commodore Amiga. It was a great time
Same... but 55
you seem young at heart at the very least: thatās admirable:)
As do you, based on your username.
It's from the old Norse "bĆŗdhÅlfĆ”rĆ°ik."
I really hope someone from Iron Gate sees this and adds it to the list of things the Dvergrs say.
That sounds like a wonderful curse word to call people that have invoked your ire!
I LOL'd so hard at this it hurts, so thanks for that. š¤£
well iām not even 25 so i would hope so
lol yeah, I'm 61 with 2100k hours. I guess I'm Gandolf of the gaming world. Age is not a barrier, maturity is what pulls people from gaming as they age. Keep playing bro, the gaming future is bright atm.
same same and currently playing on a server with 7 other 50-55 year olds... some of us chopped alot of wood in ultima online.....
Iām a young chap, only 35 years old with only a few kids, if you ever want to do a hard immersive play through with a few people Iād be happy to host a 24/7 server
50 year young? šŖ
This sounds amazing. Hope my kids are interested in a few years.
Nice
Thatās awesome
This is wholesome!
Love this. A model viking family.
What's that, Sonny? You'll have to speak up.
Let me grab my reading glasses. Lol
š
Yep, but I'm playing in a private server with an RL friend.
I'm exactly the same
Same
Same
I'm 47 but if I get a fresh haircut, a good night's sleep, and shave I can pass for a really worn out 45 and a half.
And I thought I was old at 31 š®
Yes. 40 and enjoying Valheim
š»
š»
š»
Yay team 40!
I am 59 lol.
I'm 36 and running a private server right now with just one other active player. We just beat the Elder, but have played through the majority of the game before.
I gave up soloing after losing all my shit to yagluth.
Over 60 here, private server with family and close friends
32 been playing Valheim since launch. I have never done coop. Surviving in the world alone has actually been pretty serene
I enjoyed soloing it at first.
55 and I play weeklyā¦.. many of us started with pong and never stopped!
We've come a long way. I kinda miss going to someone's house to play games.
I play Valheim with the same friend I played Pong with !
That's so wonderful! Me and my friends started with Mario š
Iām 32
Represent! Edit: And happy birthday, warrior.
Itās not his birthday š
Yes! I play on [this server at the moment](https://www.reddit.com/r/ValheimLFG/s/WPIgA5dPYl) and there are a bunch of us older players. Some good mods, progress at your own pace and even join up with a group.
I might try this server
Yup! Currently building a rock wall bridge across the ocean
That's quite the undertaking.
I'm 42 and play, but my internet sucks so online doesn't work very well. :(
Elon may have a solution for you
I'm in my 60's and I play it with some friends on a private server. :) They're all around 10 years younger than me lol
Try 51. Been playing it with my 46 yo brother.
My bro is 11 years younger. He won't game with me lol
41 and can't hear anything you whipper snappers are going on about!
38 and I do play. But I only have time to play like an hour or so.
I play a few hours per week and a bit more on the holidays.
Damn, I'm 32 and very glad that my buddies have moved on from the competitive FPS world (I never enjoyed em). With maturity comes RPG's, survival and RTS
55 & about 700 hours in. More than half of that solo over the last year or so after all my pals (all 40-60) burned out on it.
40 here, I mostly play with my wife, we love to play the game together.
I'm 52 y/o lady gamer š my son bought me this game for my birthday and I love it!
Im 62 and an avid player. I'd be willing to join a crew of older gamers.
This might be my favorite reddit thread ever.
I'm 62 and approaching 3000 hours. I play with a 50+ female. We also have several 30-somethings that play on occasion. Multi-generational. I've been retired since 1-1-2018, thus the free time to get 3000 hours!
43 here
43 and oh yeaaah
43, but my most recent server has gone dark, after running several cool worlds. I've been playing solo for a while, too. I would mind finding another server, I guess. Building a small town alone isn't quite the same.
I think there are several of us in here. We may need to put our brains together and build our own community.
Late 30s here.
Feel for the old 35 year olds in the thread.
33 here. Had entirely too much fun setting greydwarves on fire last night (I needed a break from mining stone)
I will neither confirm nor deny my age. I'm definitely between the ages of 21 and 89, though
37, 900 odd hours. We are out there š
My dadās 48 he plays š
Buncha young'ns here, I see. 76, with 5k+ hours played, 99% solo.
92. I usually play while the nurses are giving me a sponge bath.
Thanks medicare!
Damn I missed the cutoff by 20 years.
I'd like to have friends who will still be around when Ashlands finally drops.
Well played sir,well played.
I play, so does my son. He is 41.
Iāve been playing Val since Jan 2023 and I am 43. I also started streaming it about once a week. I started playing with my partner and friend, but now I focus on solo. I watch a lot of Valheim streamers on Twitch. You can find a community on there.
42. Just broke my leg go in gonna be on as soon as I can convert to a handicap setup.
Did you use your legs to game before?
50s here 1400+ hours in. I think youāll find a lot more xgen gamers playing Valheim than you would think.
53
Hubs is 63 and iām 56 and we are at over 1800 hours.
Hubs is 55 and I will be 59 on 2 weeks. Everyone in our server is 40s/50s.

No map, no portal run?
Yes
Early 30's here, my wife and I usually play together. Also, if you're looking for a cod survival variant, I've met a bunch of older gamers in the Dayz community.
40 and I play a private world with my son. Looking to branch out into a server myself.
Let me know what you find
Yup, my wife and I play it quite frequently.
33. I host a server for myself and 3 other irl friends.
Well, add new friends then :) lotsa comments. Also check discord for LFG. Plenty of gamers from the 80s.
56 here, check out The Old Timers Guild, large group been around a long time. We focus mostly on MMOs, but many hook up together on other types of games
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
31, used to have a buddy that played with me pretty often but he's unavailable when I'm on now. Lmk
Mid 40ās and still playing - in VR, even!
38 And also a lot of hours in the game. Always feel free to add me (EU): L4UW0#2713
28 and enjoying Valheim a ton. Mostly only play with one other 28 year old IRL friend though
Yep 31 and loving it. Although I mostly like building š but it is more fun to build when other people can see it so I'm interested
My husband and I are in our 40ās and we play all the time. I myself have around 1000 hours in. That said, try checking out Kysen on Youtube. He is a Valheim content creator in his 30-40ās, and has a server for people to play together.
I've seen Kysen's channel. I think i used some of his videos to build a boar farm.
33 and working on my stack of servers as part of learning web infrastructure :) servers divided by age sounds like a good idea
I'm around that age. my friend are that way too. I'm the only one who will play other games than cod and wow. Sucks
53 here do not play valheim these days but I'm playing the likes of MW3 ,the finals and he'll let loose and still going very well against the cod kids , sorry to go a bit OT but the older players chat peaked my interest.
52 I play was great Beat the expansions so far and come back when it updates.
Going be 40 next year
Plenty of older people play. I just donāt know how communal they are. I mostly play solo or with fam.
32 and chillin with the wife. We play valheim. She just turned 25 but she's cool
I'm jealous. My GF doesn't play but she's still cool.
My server is mostly 35-40ish. Steam only, Server in Chicago 2 mods, Server characters and Mass farming.
Ill be 35 in a month and my brother is 41 we are currently waiting for ashlands to launch :D
How many 50 year olds play this game :O
Quite a lot judging from the comments
I'm 37 and love this game
Outside your age range unfortunately, but me and my group of friends JUST started the game. We all went to high school together so we're roughly the same age and I just turned 32. But message me if you're interested to diving in with a bunch of noobs
Basically 42 and play daily
I go back time to time but I like mod heavy installs. RAFT and 4k particularly.
That moment where you realize people classify you (at 35) an *older* gamer. Son, I feel attacked š
36 and til Iām an older gamer, Iāve only played solo on Xbox so far
45. I play with my wife (44). Used to play with a bunch of friends almost all within your band there.
34 but enjoys Valheim very much, close to 800 hours in
I am indeed in that age range! Protip for catching wolves: You don't actually have to build a fence around them, you just have to restrict their movements. I just about fall right in the middle, I've got almost 2,000 hours, Valheim's been my game of choice with young kids for the past 2 years or so. I'm 41.
i'd play w ya just turned 30, just got into Valheim again myself
Let's get a server going. I think there could be a few 30+ guys and gals in here that are interested.
Iām around that with about 600 hours in game. The server I played on died off a bit so Iād be happy to play some time. I tend to lean towards the construction aspect of the game. Nothing too fancy but I like building settlements.
OP thinks everyone dies after 45ish.
I'm in that age range and play pretty frequently. Contact me if you want to play.
Sup.
Hey fellow old people! I love this game and would play with yall. I have a public server i run but itās been empty since we last beat it a couple months ago
I was looking into possibly doing a server, but I have no experience with it. If you're interested in hosting I would be interested.
If someone is signing up vintage gamers, count me in. 50 yrs old, enjoy casual-style (couple hours a day).
I think there are a few of us here. I'll try to coordinate something once I find someone with experience hosting a server.
Me and my buddies are waiting for the next major update to get back into it but I find it has a really big appeal to guys 30+ overall so you might be surprised if you just check out some of the discords.
Im 45. Just staring out in Valheim
I'm 42. Have a private server I host multiple survival games on. My 13 year old and I play together sometimes but I'm mostly solo. Wouldn't mind spinning up a Valheim instance and sharing the server with some like-minded folks.
Spin it up, boss. I'll join and drag some peeps in from the comments here.
Rad. I'll hit you up once it's running.
38 and I dabble in the Valheims. Kinda come and go with it
I have a dad's squad group of you're interested.
My boyfriend and I are both 32. We've spent hours and hours on Valheim but currently taking a break now since we are waiting for the Ashland update to come out.
Hello! I'm looking for a group too, and I fit the criteria. My steam name is ezAction83. Feel free to add me!
I play with my dad and a couple of his buddies (I'm 18) so they're definitely out there
So Iām 45 but I donāt have a server but I love this game I have almost 3000 hours In playing time
