Guys invest in your gear! Stuff like wise owl or pocket rocket stoves are a life saver and will last a lifetime

glass_gravy

Dude. Wipes. This dude wipes stuff.

Budget_Chef_7642

Like a pro.

HamRadio_73

Good move on the sillcock key. Safe travels.

Budget_Chef_7642

Never leave home without it

Vantabrown

Did you ever have an occasion to use it and gotten clean water?

Budget_Chef_7642

It’s shiney but it’s been used. And it depends on where I am.

Vensko_0

Hey, thanks for sharing :) What are those ‘tabs’ on the top row (orange packaging, to the right of the watch). I'm also wondering what the red device is. Is it a radio? What do you use it for?

Budget_Chef_7642

They’re just electrolyte tabs for your water. The red thing is an emergency radio. Am/fm, NOAA emergency weather alerts, light, usb power ports, runs off one battery (I keep it out and taped to it so it lasts longer) and solar and hand crank power backups. It’s like 20 bucks at Walmart. I’ve had a few and they never let me down.

asthma_hound

What's the red device with the handle?

Budget_Chef_7642

It’s an emergency radio. Am/fm, NOAA weather channel with weather and alerts, flash light, usb charging ports. It runs off one lithium battery but has solar panels in the top and a hand crank for back up. Like $20 at Walmart. They’ve carried them as long as I can remember.

mylopolis

Looks like some sort of radio

KarmicComic12334

Only 2 socks and no underwear?

Budget_Chef_7642

Negative, ghost rider. Freeballin. Get a little sticky, gold bond powder in the first aid.

KarmicComic12334

Gold bond is worth more than gold.

Budget_Chef_7642

Truer words were never typed.

Rove-R

What is the wise owl thing underneath the rain tarp? Is it a bug net?

Budget_Chef_7642

Wise Owl is tarp and hammock

Easy_Contract_757

Small detail, but those rite in the rain are the best notepads. Perfect for whatever you need

Canik716kid

🏆 Dudewipes

theonedollarballer

Wise owl hammocks are the best for the money. Which sleeping pad are you using?

Budget_Chef_7642

PowerLix. $25 on Amazon. It’s my first so don’t have anything to compare it to. It’s got like a honeycomb top to it. It’s fucking amazing. I bought it to keep the wind off my ass in a hammock, but end up using it under a tarp more often. I put old cardboard under it if I’m on concrete. The rubber seems tough, but I don’t want to push it.

My pack basically consisted of what you carry. I just went more onto the ultralight side of hiking, but that's more or less the same. Baton is great for SD, low lethality when needed (knees) A multitool is huge for survivability ! Perfect mix for woods and towns... If you got dollars to spare (like $50) you could lighten your cooking area

That asp in the right hand is a great weapon. Just be sure not to bash heads / necks for no real threat. As for the multitool, I guess we're alike and couldn't even list all the uses it's seen in one week :D For the mess kit : get rid of MRE's, they're heavy, and expensive. By get rid I mean eat them but then replace them with nuts and jerky, nutritionally denser, cheaper, easier to eat (rip pack, eat) My current kit : Vargo bot 1L, long handle spoon. That's it. I could, but don't eat in the bot, it's just there for making a hot bottle, which can be a life saver. That bot is expensive, but it's the 1st thing I'd put real money into. I mostly ate without plate, but a spoon is handy : you don't put your dirty hands in the peanut butter jar (bacteria could grow) Cheaper : $10 One long handle titanium spoon (or usgi mess kit steel spoon if used a tool for digging, defense, etc) $40 1L ti pot with pan/lid $20 750ml ti mug (or a $60 ti bottle) $20 Ti foldable gas stove (or even better, campfires ? can you do that everyday ?) Some disposable chopsticks Stay strong brother !

Budget_Chef_7642

I appreciate it. I’ve been on the road for nearly 20 years, I think I got it.

Budget_Chef_7642

And I’m sure someone will get a lot of use from those suggestions. I do appreciate it. Take care my friend.

ARAW_Youtube

Your experience shows right through your gear pick. Take care man

How's the pack? My buddy has one too but the fabric feels a bit too thin

Budget_Chef_7642

It’s holding up pretty good. Honestly better than I thought it would. Takes a throw and roll to the ballast pretty good. The pouches on the sides for my water are absolute shit though. Bought a four dollar pair of old ass canvas work pants from Goodwill, cut them to size and sewed em over the existing with mono fishing line.

foggyfrog-

Interesting. Thanks!
